Has WG changed terrain clearance?
Aotearas replied to ThePopesHolyFinger's topic in General Discussion
Target lock is when your aim reticule automatically locks onto a spotted target (and compensates for relative movement). Everytime you shoot at a spotted target you use that automatically (unless you manually remove the target lock). -
That was Estuary map and me in Warspite, aye? If only you could've read our teamchat. Our dearest Belfast kept raging on about how I moved "3km" (direct quote) from spawn and other such tripe. One of those peeps that pay zero attention to the minimap and as soon as they die start bitching about others with no ear for explanations or anything. He was funny

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Welp, coming from one end of the lowtier bob spectrum with a seven frag, 130k damage Impregnator game, I now give you this: That's a Witherer at tier IV, in a BB. Though it's slightly misrepresentative to call the Ishizuchi a BB. When I first got it (christmas crates), absolutely hated this ship. The AP was (and still is) atrociously bad with terrible penetration. So bad you can still shatter your AP shells on a perfectly broadside Wyoming at 7km ... and getting citadels in this ship? On cruisers perhaps but I don't think I ever had a citadel pen on a BB in the Ishizuchi. Found myself switching to HE shells more and more often to do any sort of damage. Then one day I put my IJN cruiser captain on the Ishizuchi (with Demolition Expert, naturally) and decided to just shoot HE, just for shits'n'giggles because hey: if you can't play that thing like a proper BB, might aswell screw around. It was an epiphany! This thing is a MONSTER with HE. You can typically count on every salvo setting a fire and even two fires aren't rare. The HE also royally messes up cruiser modules, knocking down engines, guns, torpedoes and rudders left, right and centre whenever you hit them. And the HE alpha ain't bad aswell so the direct damage from hits, though nowhere near as good as the potential AP alpha (read: potential - you're not going to get that AP alpha unless you get freakishly lucky; in terms of effective damage, HE is at least on par with AP, possibly even superiour), but those fires are the real killer. You hit a ship with an HE salvo, proc a fire or two and bait/force their repair (because low tier, duh). And given your reload, by the time your second salvo hits, the DC will have run its course and any fire/module incapacitation you procced will stick for full duration -> two or three full fires worth of damage plus the direct damage from hits. The Ishizuchi is the best heavy cruiser at tier IV. -
You got what was coming for you for assuming the gender. Should've wrote www.mygenitalsaremyowndamnbusinessandjusttheperfectsize.cum ...

Science of Victory can be completed with a tier V ship afaik. Most of the early missions as low as tier III ships. If a player were to stick to one line and just play normally, any halfway decent player will be able to grind up to tier V ships in less than a week. The Honourable Service missions are designed for advanced players and as such are limited to tier VIII ships or higher (also no doubt intended to populate the high tier MM and not have everyone shipping about in the midtiers). You also get a tier solid VI premium ship for completing it, which should provide some measure of motivation for people to grind their way up to the high tiers and then through the missions.

Was like this for quite some time. Shooting targets with line-of-sight obstructions is only possible with a target lock. You can still lob shells over islands at an unspotted/untargeted ship as long as your guns are still trained for the distance, but as soon as you move your aim and just a pixel is between your former aim point, the game will autoadjust the aim to there and hit the island instead, after which point it's impossible to try and shoot beyond the island unless you have an unobstructed line-of-sight again. Especially frustrating if you have a target locked, but just an instant before you shoot, it gets unspotted, you lose target lock and the aim you had following the target is now looking directly at the bloody island instead and the game donks all shells into the mountain ... Only work around is the spotter plane top-down view. -

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aotearas replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Wow guys, hold your horses. FireRM isn't saying the Conquerer with Radar is balanced. And STs don't do balancing decisions, they just playtest and generate data. If you guys want to rile on people for questionable balance decisions, you're barking up the wrong tree. And if he can wreck you like that because the ship is OP, then it's a good thing he's actually expoiting that as hard as possible so that crap shows up in the statistics that WG is using to balance that stuff*. *Though we all know how confident we are about that ... -

With spiders it's typically the bigger the better. Mostly because it makes it easier to spot them in your panties In other news, we're getting recognized now. Gotta lay low for a while chaps, or people are going to close their window shutters when they see us approaching ...- 3,079 replies

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Nice. But still not 7 kills There, let me show you how it's done. Also, Nikolai I. is totally not OP, that's all pure pro windowlicking, no industrial cleaners involved, I swear! Totally would rename the spoilertags for the remaining result tabs as usual but alas WG don't like no creativity: And I couldn't resist the 50% deal on the Saipan. Hardly spent any money on the Steam sales anyway so I still had plenty bucks in my gaming budget and at 50% discount I'd say that was solid value: First game was a bit let down by the team. The entire west spawn derped themselves out of the match more or less without a fight except for a Hatsuharu who fought a dogged retreating action with me and got a compliment for that. But hey, if you can't count on randoms, you can bring friends along: Very little damage (though a good chunk of that is DDs) ... mostly because a screwed up a drop and dunked my torps into a Colorado's hull before they could arm. Poor enemy CV though got shut down. He did try to snipe me and got some damage in (again, I dun screwed up, I knew it had to be coming but I had recalled my fighters a bit too late to actually intercept the snipe) but other than that I working him over. -
Congratulations, you won the N00bel Prize.
-
Right then, now I can just simply quote without double posting or having to bash my head against WG's quote firewall. FIFY. That's randoms. Ranked be more like:
-
You mean those DBs whose tightest possible drop circle with manual attacks and without any Defensive AA effects is still battleship sized? Don't give them the entire lenght of your ship to drop on. As soon as you no longer give them the perfect head-on approach their damage potential drops substantially. RNG may still bite you in the arse off course, but overall it's the same dodhing procedure as with any other DB attack, turn out to force them to drop across your ship's width rather than length. It's either that of the CV has to spend precious seconds realigning his DBs to compensate for your evasive manouvers which means those DBs spend more time in your AA (and even with the tier IX HP module those Enterprise aircraft at effectively still only tier VIII'ish). Or we could talk about how you apparently think that staying together to stack AA auras isn't an effective defense ...
-
Wat? Seriously, I don't even know how I would start adressing this comment with its outright falsehoods or supplied solution that is instantly disregarded because, uhh ... outright falsehoods. So to reiterate: wat?
-
All this talk about the 7vs7 format meaning your own skill is much more important to win is just ignorantly glossing over the fact that any potato on your team is having the same greater impact, just negatively. Ranked is the same as Randoms, it essentially boils down to which team has the least amount of potatoes. And when teams are miraculously evenly matched with competent players, it essentially comes down to whichever team loses a ship first and it snowballs from there.
-
Because apparently looking in the general direction of where you want to fire your torps and checking for (possibly oblivious) teammates (which may or may not oblivious to one's friendly torps because they a bit busy paying attention to the enemy in front of them rather than friendlies behind them) is too damn hard.
-
Means that buying the simple ship package of a ship you already own is de facto a discount on doubloons. With the 50% discount on the tier VI/VII premium ships this is an excellent way of topping out on doubloons for anyone interested in that.
