Let's be a bit more fair here guys: Some of the ships that were on discount were pretty amazing performers (Saipan, Belfast, Blyskawica, Mikhail Kutuzov and Atago) and the discounts were pretty substantial (50% for tier VII premiums (which get a 30% discount at best otherwise) and 30% for the tier VIII premiums (which typically get a 15% discount)). Even if this Tirpitz bundle is all there is to the grand finale (I'd say chances are 50/50, let's see if WG learned something from that secret price 10 camouflage ordeal ...), the offers they had were substantially generous for WG standards. I say they at least get points for trying, though they have to work on their "finale" game overall.

What's really going to get you pissed if you watch this movie is that in-universe it might actually be considered a mercy ... let's just say the whole reason for those children (yes) fighting a war is deeply messed up. There's a reason why essentially all those kids are chainsmokers and it ain't pretty.

Eh, to be fair WG isn't even a top contender for that match bracket. Among the videogame developers/publishers that award will mostly go to Ubisoft. At least WoWs is free to play, Ubisoft goes full on false hype, embellished advertisment and then charges you AAA game money for a typically broken product that by the time it's in a stable playable iteration (IF it even reaches that), it's playerbase has atrophied.

This is quickly devolving into Mr. Internet Tough Guy territory ... mtm, think you can get him triggered enough to start that Navy Seal rant? And I don't think you're precious number of battles means much. Considering you can't even find a public profile of another player you want to go [edited] measure against, I'd be somewhat suprised if you would find the objectives ingame. And I've seen PLENTY players with thousands of games and tier X ships that have worse stats than some XP farming bots (and considering the quite creative rants in ingame chat, I'd say they weren't farming bots themselves). The end word of this particular debate is: statistics are a valuable tool to gauge player performance. And just because you don't like the results doesn't mean they aren't true! Also, because there's never too many chances to link this:

The ability to strongarm an attack through AA and still have enough striking power to devastate a BB isn't something that every CV can do though. In fact the number is quite limited (Midway, Hakuryu and Taiho ... no other CV with enough alpha comes to mind - Kaga can do that if she's toptier and thus her undertiered aircraft aren't much of an issue), since the CV still has to expect to lose quite a number of aircraft which is has to replenish and only the hightier CVs in general have the reserves for that, try that in a midtier CV and your aircraft losses will mount up to a crippling low rather swift. BB AA however has been powercreeping on all tiers. The Gneisenau at tier VII for example is infamous for its ludicrous AA on the top hull. I know the topic is about hightiers in general, but this argument about CVs being able to just bruteforce an attack through any BB AA is used too often for CVs that simply can't do that. This is a CV balancing problem in particular that needs adressing but WG is dragging their feet for all things CV ... the entire CV balance needs a complete overhaul but I don't see WG doing that anytime soon if at all.

Only heard great things about Kimi no Na wa, but haven't gotten around watching it yet, hence no recommendation from me. Also didn't watch Kaze Tachinu, that one kinda flew under my radar to begin with and my backlog is looooooong. The other thing about Sky Crawlers, it's in fact not the airplanes that hooked me, it's their goddamn sounds! Seriously, the sounds! The howling turbocharger on the Teacher's J2 gives me goosebumps! Anything to do with the aircraft in this movie is just pure eargasm!!! Another thing of note is that the aircraft action is actually physically possible (with a bit of fictional aircraft performance handwaving, the J2 is in-universe infamous for its absurd engine power which would enable it to do some of the more far fetched manouvers, physically everything is correct), just in case you get off on things being realistic (I prefer hard science fiction). A note of warning, if you go watch that movie in hopes of awesome airplane action and dogfights, you'll be slightly disappointed. The central focus of this movie is not airplane action (though you still get a couple of those and they're AWESOME), that's just a catalyst for the actual, philosophical themes - expect lots of talking and depressive moods.

To be fair, no one thus far mentioned the show that shan't be named that rhymes with hoku mo piku. Also, something I completely forgot to mention in my recommended list: Imho even better than the original.

Can't really recommend that one. The anime itself covers only a small part of the manga and ends inconclusive ... and the basic story is full of gaping plotholes and stupid railroading it's not even funny. I mean the JMSDF gets INSISTENTLY portrayed as a peace keeping force whose mission is to save lifes. So when they get brought back in time, what are they gunna do? Why, after a bit of showing off their precious OP AEGIS missile ship and the expected "oh but we don't want to change the timeline" they actually join hands with the japanese Empire, because they want to save lifes and everything ... conveniently forgetting such little tidbits like it was Japan at the time that was fighting a war of aggression, is committing mass murders and overall being the living antithesis to their previously stated JMSDF mission and the fact that the presence of an AEGIS missile ship that could intercept the nukes would actually force the USA to go through with Operation Downfall which would inevitably lead to even MORE death and destruction, both in japanese and Allied lifes. If 'Gate' is JSDF propagandistic fanwank, then 'Zipand' is bordering on historical whitewashing ... anyone with a bit of knowledge of how Imperial Japan conducted their war is going to cringe at the trainwreck that is that show's logic. Has nifty action scenes whenever that AEGIS ships roflstomps something though, you can watch those on youtube, but that's essentially the only recommendation I'd give out. ... and sorry if that sounds like a bit of rant (again) but I do asian studies so I know my history on that part and can't overlook the blatant whitewashing, though it IS consistent with Japan's continued refusal to come to terms with them having been the bad guys in WW2 (that's some really f*cked up thing in Japan, really sad). Like I said, I could give a pretty long list of anime recommendations ... ah screw it, here it comes: Movies: Sword of the Stranger (best Samurai anime I've ever seen, absolutely AMAZING animation and fight choreography) Ghost in the Shell (1995 version, not the CGI rework) Mononoke Hime (it's Ghibli) Shisha no Teikoku (what is the essence of a soul?) The Sky Crawlers (existentialism and aircraft porn) Series: Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex (masterpiece) Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (superiour to the 2006 version in every regard, but if you liked it you can still watch the 2006 version for completion's sake as it covers a different path from the VN) Fate/Zero (prequel to Fate/Stay Night, but can really only be appreciated in all its glory if you watch the other series first) Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Scifi epic, think "A Song of Ice and Fire" (or Game of Thrones for the TV guys) in space, slow burner but damn that show is great) Psycho-Pass (Dystopian police persecutes people based on their emotional readouts ... gets very dark, very fast with a brilliant antagonist and story) Monogatari series (lots of talking with stunning visuals, animation and music to give flair as the show keeps on talking about everything, it's weird but it works and it's brilliant!) Black Lagoon (Gangster action show with absolutely over-the-top action scenes, diverse cast and surprisingly deep at times, also very violent and very dark) Ergo Proxy (that one is simply a mindf*ck, you either love or you hate it, I loved it) One-Punch Man (WAAAAAN PAAAAAWWWWNNNNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) JoJo's Bizarre Adventures (you've heard of it, you've seen it's memes, it's crazy, it's awesome, crazy awesome ... first season is a bit slow but oh boy does it get explosively amazing from season #2 onwards) Shokugeki no Souma (Food porn, don't watch without a snack nearby or you're going to have a bad time ... first episode tried a bit too hard at the porn aspect but it tones down to appreciable levels and the story gets surprisingly good (and the anime hasn't even caught up to the really good sh*t!!!)) Seirei no Moribito (ancient Japan, female mercinary is tasked to protect a royal child which is hunted for the demonic egg growing inside it, a more subdued show but with plenty strong moments and Balsa is a great female character!) Samurai Champloo (a classic) Cowboy Bebop (a classis in space) Gintama (a classic slapstick comedy/parody) 91 Days (think Godfather, the anime) Spice and Wolf (season 3 pl0x) Steins;Gate (time travel, evil sekrit organizations, intrigue, murder, mystery, microwaved bananas) Gunslinger Girl (biologically augmented children trained to be superassassins, action, tragedy, feels) Keijo!!!!!!!!!!! (it's so stupid it's great again, also mercilessly parodies basically EVERY popular anime ever, fun as hell but you're going to lose braincells watching that one) Darker Than Black (Superpowers, intrigue, espionage) HunterxHunter (2011 anime: incredibly deep world building, amazing character development, good story) Hataraku Maou-sama (Devil gets send to our world, starts as a parttime jobber at McDonalds, funny stuff happens, KATSU-DOOOM) Nichijou (a.k.a. when all you have is weird crap and an unending animation budget, somehow still works in a brainless, funny way) Shingeki no Kyoujin (pretty sure most of you heard of this: humanity is on the brink of destruction being hunted and eaten by giants, it's dark, apocalyptic and oh my god I just want to sex all over Levi) Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Gen Urobuchi's masterpiece) Can unconditionally recommend all the above. Each of those are amazing, though some are definately a more ... acquired taste, so you may not like one or two or some just don't tickle your fancy, but if they do, oh boy you're going to be in for a treat. Will leave the rest of my anime recommendations until after you guys cleared that list

Havaduck, get back ingame so we can club some more. Party some more I mean, no clubbing ... As for my sins: Look at muh medals Look at them! Kraken just just denied by the CV but I don't mind because he actually played well (honorary division mate, though he don't know). And I just keep on loving the Ishizuchi heavy cruiser! -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aotearas replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, it's like that one time when they tested this Keen Interest captain thingy and a good chunk of the (experienced) playerbase was arguing against it and WG scrapped the idea ... Move along citizens, nothing to see here. That strange light you just saw was just a reflection from a weatherballoon. We're totally trying to do something about the BB overpopulation, buy our premiums! At this point I'm no longer sure if WG is just simply catastrophically incompetent or just ruthlessly lying the blue from the heavens to keep their whales for some more time as they keep catering to the BB players ... -
So you're getting focused and somehow still want win because you're in a BB? Do I understand your argument correctly?
-
Might want to retry Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, because it really picks up after the halfway mark and the progatonist steps up his game considerably. As for other anime that will most definately not bore you: Black Lagoon, One-Punch Man and Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo. I can recommend plenty others though!
-
Except that BBs can totally roundhouse kick cruisers, or be nearly impervious to CV attacks if they just stick with any cruiser that has defensive AA, can angle for days against enemy BBs ... and the little factual tidbit about DDs being designed as somewhat of a counter to BBs so they're supposed to be good at harassing them?

Not sure if troll or genuine hypocrite considering his go-to response to people arguing about gameplay/meta balance is "git gud". Thread similarity and timing compared to this makes me tend to bad troll ...

All the previous incentives didn't. We got a whole line of BBs that are virtually impossible to citadel, have amazing secondaries and hydro acoustic search to help with pushing, plus bad dispersion at range and the vast majority of people are still sniping. Why would this one be any different?

Again, if you're looking for historical accuracy, you're at the wrong place. This game is an authentic setting arcade shooter, not a historical naval warfare simulater. And the difference between "authentic" and "historical" alone should be enough to tell the tale. But it sounds more and more like you'd enjoy 'Atlantic Fleet' quite a bit, so give that one a good long look. -
Is WG going to stop implementing/chaning content after the RN BBs? Because if not, I wouldn't take a bet regarding the thread title. Am fundamentally opposed to BBs getting radar (hydro is already bad enough). If the lines between typical cruiser roles and BB capabilities continue to blur, I prophecize no end to the BB overpopulation ... why should anyone want to play a squishy cruiser if BBs can do all the nifty stuff like hydro, radar and nasty AA? Also the black magic heal needs nerfing for the BBs. WG can easily drop the heal efficacy by half and it would still be leagues above the rest and even edge out in theoretical max HP on the RN BBs despite their currently significantly lower HP pools. I won't try to touch upon what I think RN BBs could/should be like (that would be pages worth of writing ...) but I can clearly say what I think would be disastrously bad game design, both for balance and the game meta.

Git gud. Or play in try hard windowlicking division with gudder gits. Also, mandatory loloverconfident misplay of the year 10/420 would detonate again.
