Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Solution: HE only with 1/3 caliber HE pen, option to mount the Steering Gears Mod.3 I'd buy that and put IFHE on the captain -
Kutuzov or Pudding(Prinz Eugen) or maybe Alabama
Aotearas replied to Spectre__'s topic in General Discussion
If you're looking for german thrillride get Scharnhorst instead of the Prinz Eugen. If you're looking for something US BB'y, save up (or convert) free XP and get the Missouri instead of the Alabama. Out of the ships you put up for selection, only the Mikhail Kutuzov is something I'd recommend, but it doesn't sound like what you're looking for. Longrange HE raining and firing from smoke isn't what I'd use the word thrill to describe. -

Call me when there's any serious accusations are made. Because what I've seen here so far just rings of false accusations, something which various people (including the AAO clan leader) have noted one way or the other. And you STILL don't have any right to demand ANY sort of personal informations such as any exact consequences for individuals who you have no idea about and nothing to do with. You don't go up to the police and demand a random stranger's police file because you heard someone say he's a bad person, do you? Now shear it! -
"We shall go on to the end. We shall hag in Ranked, we shall hag on the seas and oceans, we shall hag with growing overconfidence and growing stench in the air, we shall hag the island, whatever the cost may be. We shall hag on the beaches, we shall lag in the loading screens, we shall shag in the fields and in the streets, we shall hog all the kills – we shall never grow younger..." Clan members rigging the Ranked (with replay as proof)

I just made clear that your little third-person vendetta is stupid and that you're wrong. If you wish to continue showing that off, I'm fine with at. Nothing better than a cooperative example to show people how it's not done. In the meantime you can try the same logic and demand informations from WG, their answer might surprise you ... -

And from my point of view you seem like you're into corporal punishment, have a weird sense of entitlement to demand an explanation for something that has nothing to do with you, and when told that you won't get any (because it's none of your damn business) you whip out the personal attacks. Fun facts: the only people who have anything to do with this are those involved with the game, the WG staff who's checking it and if anything fishy went on, the clan leadership to take the approiate actions against the offenders if proven guilty. Just in case you're still looking where you're name is in this entire list. It ain't there. And you or anyone else not on that list have exactly zero rights to demand any specifics the same way that WG will not discuss actions taken against other people you may have reported for misbehaviour. So you can take that precious attitude of yours and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. -

Well ... can't say I like that. I'd have rather prefered a 2x4 + 1x2 14' KGV at tier VII or perhaps the Vanguard with it's 4x2 15' main batteries tweaked a little to make it tier VIII material (Warspite 2.0 sigma says good day). Both ships would've been an interesting choice, but this 3x3 15' version ... nope, not digging it. Besides, isn't the Roma with its 3x3 15' in developement as a possible premium ship? I think I recall having read a statement from WG thus regarding some time ago and I don't think it would serve much purpose to have two BBs that seem so much alike as a premium ship (with presumably the same tier on top). This is an odd choice and not one I personally like, at all to be honest. The Queen is not amused. -
Guys, give those hags some rest will ya? They're old and need their sleep anyway. Step aside gramps, it's time for the new star: AAO.

You shamed the entire clan instead, for a misdeed two indivuals out of probably 30 clanmembers may have done. -
Ah, the infamous +1 artillery rating. That was the point when I learned how to rightclick on modules to see the detailed stats and ignored the simplified ship stats entirely because they're evidently bogus. An important stepping stone in getting better.

Lemming trains are now a viable tatic?
Aotearas replied to _AbleArcher83_'s topic in General Discussion
A lemming train is a concentrated blob of ships, that's a lot of shared firepower and HP, nothing wrong with that. If that blob pushes hard, it's going to simply roll over inferiour opposition, which is good. If that blob is gragging their feet and turning around scared shitless because there's a DD around, then it's going to get chipped away whilst the enemy can leisurely secure the objective, which is bad. -
Best advice is treat the Atlanta like a DD. You're not a cruiser, you're a hugeass overgrown DD addicted to performance enhancing drugs with an attitude! Incorrect. 152/155mm benefit the most from IFHE because it helps them surpass an important armour threshold. The same is also true for the 127mm as with IFHE you get a HE penetration of 28 as opposed to 22. That means you beat 25mm armour threshold found commonly on midtier BB and hightier CA hulls (which you'll see a lot in the Atlanta's MM bracket). The only reason why IFHE for 127mm is generally regarded senseless is because the only common class of ships with that low caliber are DDs and for them using IFHE is most of the time a suboptimal choice compared to other captain skills. On the Atlanta however, with a 14 gun 127mm broadside weight, being able to directly damage a good chunk of hull armour that you see which without IFHE you typically can't scratch is a subtantially significant damage potential increase.

Alright, I got the corns, someone bring the heat so we can make this thread pop! -
That meme mostly came from uninformed parents in Japan letting their little children watch it because they thought the artstyle looked like an anime for little children. Cue episode #3, some child traumatization and a lot of angry parents. The fact that Gen Urobuchi a.k.a. "The Urobutcher" is the mind behind the anime should've tipped people off. All you need to know is that it's a ruthless deconstruction of the magical girl genre. Also, the cinematography is gorgeous. Also, because it spawed stuff like this: And damn, how did I forget that on my list of unconditional recommendations? Someone slap me for that!

By the way, free XPing your way to the V-170 is kind of a disservice, because the tier II and III are ridiculously fun to play in the low tier yolorush meta.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Played a lot of Operations to grind through the La Glascannoniere and unlocked the Algerie. Except for two games everything was a 5 star victory. We once lost a Liberty ship so that was only a 4 start victory ... and then there was that special BB division in their Mutsu and Kongou who spent the first half hiding in the back, letting the cruisers do all the tanking (guess how that went) and after all the cruisers died they moved up just a little bit, presumably to use the Liberty ships as meatshields instead. Reacted about as you'd expect when you tell them that camping behind everyone isn't going to help ... the last Liberty ship barely made it to the extraction zone (tbh I wished it didn't) and it ended in a 2 star victory, something those two BBabies were possibly ecstatically proud of despite doing their best to actually throw the game. But eh, what do you expect on weekends, right? Anyway, since everyone else is bragging with AI seal clubbing: Dem citadels. Dat damage. -
You can safely ignore those people, they're idiots. Depends what route you/the cruisers are taking. If it takes your guns (and more importantly, your presence) out of the fight, it's typically a bad idea. After all a BB's job is to tank and deal damage, so if that flanking route puts several high islands between you and the enemy, you're not doing any of the two. That one is highly situational and can't be easily labeled as bad or good play! Typically you want to be where the heat is, so you can take the heat off of squishier allies. But you don't want to be too close to the enemy or otherwise exposed, otherwise you end up getting focused and sink rather fast. Playing battleships to their utmost potential is a delicate balancing act and not easy to learn as you have to think a couple steps ahead since you can't just turn and run in most cases, so if you miscalculated, you're done (though it might still take a while for you to sink).

WG EU will have a 5% XP boost for tiers III to VIII and a 10% XP boost for tier VIII+ Equip your ship missions will require 120.000 base XP each and only 3x containers each with supercontainer. Cuz WG EU

Only an effective 30% discount on the doubloons though. So if at all possible, people should've used the tier VI/VII bundles with the 50% discount to stock up on doubloons via duplicate premiums, much more bang for your buck.
-
Any sale at discount is a partial loss in potential profits equal to the discount compared to the normal pricing. And if WG feels like they're going to sell premiums anyway, if they sell too many at a discount compared to their projected longterm sales at a nondiscounted price, they make a relative loss, as in losing out on potential profit. That's what I meant. And virtual goods can still make losses, their virtual nature only means they have little to no maintenance and delivery cost (i.e.: need no additional production investment past the original creation of the content, just a copy of the code and a server to distribute it as opposed to production and physical delivery logistics), but if the return fails to pay back the initial investment, it's still a loss. And considering WG runs on mostly f2p business models, you can count the ongoing costs of keeping the game running into the profitability equation. Case in point, economic reasons. Even if they may just boil down to how greedy they think they can get away with. Business stuff, ya know ...

Bottom line. Perhaps WG sold much more premium ships at discount than they anticipated and the losses by the discounts outweighed the profits from the additional sales, so whichever grand finale they might've had planned got axed to keep the numbers in the black. That or they're simply incompetent at anything to do with communication, hard to tell with WG (mostly because the "or" in that sentence ought to be an "and" regardless if the above is true ...).

I see WG's news team managed to update the news article. Looks like "top secret" all over again. If this truly is the finale, then we can safely conclude WG learned nothing from that GNB hypetrainwreck. That'd be incredibly poor form, especially since like the GNB event this one was rather sweet only to be ended on a sour note because WG can't check their hype marketing.

Hmm, when I look back on the comments I see a good couple that amount to little more than "WG sux", so this "everyone" you're talking about, I don't see it. That's quite the energetic answer. Especially considering that at this point on a sunday (which isn't a normal business day so it's unlikely to see an official statement clarifying anything) and with an additional two days to go during this event, you can't quite say with confidence that this is how it ends. Might be other bundles hitting the stores for the next two days, maybe they'll make the previous bundles available again on the last day for anyone who missed them. Not saying that will happen (as I said, I'm giving it a 50/50 chance), but there's a chance and you'd look a mighty kneejerker in that case if you start declaring stuff with such finality now ...
