Thanks for screwing Grosser with the Dunkirk update
Aotearas replied to Mr_Gibbins's topic in General Discussion
11/10 compliments, would thread again! -
If you haven't already, watch 'Black Lagoon'. That series flies under so many people's radars it's not even fair for such a great show. And the manga is going out of hiatus aswell, so with a bit of luck we might even get a third season *grmmlSpice&Wolfgrmml*.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aotearas replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Mostly because the vast majority of players don't read news/patchnotes and the forum (or pay attention to after battle report details in general) and are still unaware of that change. The myriad of "wth service cost so high even though I took no damage" threads popping up still should be a pretty good indicator. -
Fair Compensation For Nerfed Ships?

Not sure if the whole passivity is a thing you can directly influence with game changes anyway. It's mostly a player mindset problem, people being too scared to trade damage for advantagous positions, too scared about that elusive DD lurking somewhere, etc. pp.. WG can't nerf cowardice I'm afraid. -
Fair Compensation For Nerfed Ships?
Aotearas replied to VeteranGamer84's topic in General Discussion
We had those already -
Being ignorant of rules is excusable. Still being willfully ignorant of the rules AFTER you've been told you're violating them is inexcusable. The majority of those players are baddies looking for an excuse for their subpar performance and refuse to realize it's their own fault. Someone's better than me? They must be cheating. There are some BS mods out there (rainbow and x-ray) that are considered cheating, but those still aren't anything like what mpst people would understand as a cheat because the server authoritative model greatly limits the informations the client has access to and utterly shuts everyone out of crucial calculations such as penetration calls, detectability, etc.. Things like immortality is IMPOSSIBLE to cheat (although there is a game mechanic that works similarily after you've taken enough damage to a part of your ship ... but that would only look like a cheat if you know little about the actual game). In the videos you linked I see two mods at work: shell trajectory lines and an aim assist. You can see that he still takes hits despite knowing roughly where the shells will fall (because his ship is too sluggish to avoid, too large a target and only useful at longrange when shells have a long enough flighttime to even react to it). You should note how it doesn't show torpedoes before they were actually spotted. I'd personally call that a fishy mod and I think I read somewhere that it's on WG's naughty list. And the aim assist is laughable. For one, the smashing salvo he shows at the start ... I don't know how many games he had to record to get that to show off because no mod can help with dispersion and penetration (and the Fusou's is well known), plus you can see rather poor hits as the match goes. And that one time a Minekaze gets spotted up close you can clearly see he's not even aiming anywhere close to the aim assist and hitting, which shows how poor the aim assist is in general. Out of all the video evidence about aim assist mods that were linked here, I've never seen an aim assist that I'd consider equal to proper aim, some where so bad I'd say smashing your face randomly on your keyboard would yield better results and most others where simply random overlays put over a cavalcade of FUBAR'ed gameplay from ancient anno beta that I'm certain wasn't even an actual mod but just a cheap way of fishing for unsuspecting idiots who'd happily download a nasty virus. What I'd wish though where for WG take a hard and transparent line against those mods it considers illegal and publishes ban lists on regular intervals to show that potatoes get their due farming, which would also work as a platform for players to forward alerts to new mods that WG can check and if necessary add to their black list.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Took my Yamato out for a spin: Pushed just a little into the caps ... I will never understand why so many BB players seem allergic to objectives. Gearing on our team did a good job and even selflessly smoked me up when I was under fire from a Hindenburg. He somehow got spotted (possible the enemy CV) and the Hindenburg killed him as he already was extremely low on HP, but I avenged him. We also dumped some compliments on him, too rarely do you see people going out of their way to help others. -

God forbid teamwork and class/ship synergy actually has any benefits in their game. -
Pfft, arrabbiata. Or Napoli with lots of curry if you want to see Italians combust in rage from looking at it.

With it's volume of fire the MK is pretty good at setting fires, you must've gotten a nasty case of bad RNG to get so few (happens, RNG giveth and taketh away, just today a clanmate of mine didn't get a single fire in his Belfast util he hit something for the hundreth time and only set three fires with ~150 HE hits). The AP is actually pretty strong for it's caliber at that tier and can penetrate pretty much anything that isn't belt armour all the way out ot maximum range (assuming the target is not angled, naturally anything that angles is going to quickly decrease the AP results). Particularily at close range the famed Stalinium AP can actually be too punchy and overpenetrate if you hit a part of a ship that's not particularily well armoured. And the single smoke charge can be increased up to three with the Super Intendent captain perk and using the premium version of the consumable.

Have you bought Belfast, Kutuzov? if so prepare to be shocked...

Apparently I'm out of likes already (though I don't quite remember to have spend 10 likes today ... when do they reset that counter?), so let me just quote those for emphasis. -
Without Gallant, only one collection box a day??
Aotearas replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
Am I paranoid or did WG remove a news article that detailed the necessary missions to get event reward containers? Because I could swear I saw something just this morning but wanted to double check the possible number of containers you could get with and without the Gallant, but I can't find the article anymore on the news portal ... -

Keep in mind 2km proximity detection. You'll spot anything in that smoke long before you get into range to blast away the smoke. Which means the potential uses offensively are minimal, but the potential risks of allies blowing away your smoke because they're inattentive/don't care/are raging arseholes stay all the same. If this speculation turns out true, this MUST be accompanied with major ship rebalancing for everything that relies heavily on smokes *cough*RNCLs*cough*. -

An addendum regarding the new smoke mechanic speculative leak: If I make a smoke screen and use it then properly to fire at targets obstructed from outside the smokescreen so as to not reduce it's duration, but someone else just mindlessly drives through the smoke firing happily away, will that also reduce the duration of my smoke (as it would stand to logic) or will there be exceptions? Because the last thing we need is some people actually trying to adapt and keep on teamplaying, only for some inattentive BBob to sail close enough to the smoke, fire a full salvo and instantly dissipate the carefully set up smoke. Nevermind the newfound possibilities for griefers to sabotage anything smoke related. -

Aotearas replied to SexyCroat's topic in General Discussion
That is in fact something I hadn't considered yet ... What a way to enable randoms who aren't aware of their surroundings to utterly mess up other people's stuff. Or for griefing trolls to actively sabotage other players! -

Aotearas replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Not sure how accurate the informations on the new smoke mechanic are, but if that one comes through, a couple of ships are going to need major rebalancing, particularily the british cruisers that very much rely on smoke to keep them alive since they simply can't tank any sort of hit. Most other ships might be able to adapt by using smokes as visual obstruction rather than fire from inside them (though it does make it harder, but that's not necessarily bad), but with the extremely low setting time on the RN CL smokes, it's impossible to actually lay a long smokescreen that can obscure a sufficiently large field of vision. This is however one way of buffing their special smoke upgrade I suppose ... -
With a DD buddy or two to smoke you up, this ship is indeed a blast to play (and becomes quite the formidable menace). Just follow your DD friends to the caps, have them pop a nice long smoke towards the cap so you get close enough to help against enemy DDs and provide radar, plus your presence will also keep any CVs away which might just motivate one or two other players to push along.

Yeah, I better not start thinking much about those 0.6.9 leaks ... Not sure what WG is thinking, but I'm pretty sure about what they are smoking. -

I'm sorry, but I don't believe you would improve your stats as drastically as you claim, nevermind by three or four times. In fact, I can prove that (with statistics ...): Your current alltime stats: 45,57% winrate 21796 average damage 1027 average XP 6,9 average tier (to show the stats are comparable due to little tier difference) Your recent stats from only the past three months: 46,10% winrate (0,53% higher) 26922 average damage (5126 (23,52%) higher) 1141 average XP (114 (11,10%) higher) 7,3 average tier You've certainly improved, but I'm not seeing any groundshaking differences. And just to make clear, those stats from your last three months ... those are ONLY from those last three months and not weighted down down by your prior performance. Those are the stats that you generate with your current performances, your current skill. Those would be the stats you'd have if you were to start up an entirely new account (well, you'd have to grind up at least the regular ships from zero again so average damage XP and tier would in fact be a bit lower at the start). What your comments have shown me is that you evidently have little understanding of how statistics should be analyzed and how you overestimate yourself (3-4x higher stats) I don't mean any disrespect to you as a person, but you should take a couple steps back, reflect and realize that what you're saying isn't nearly as true as you think it is. And that is the reason why some people here say your arguments/recommendations aren't nearly as good as you may think they are. And that they may be right when they criticize your statements. Again, no one tells you how to play. And even if people are telling you there are perhaps better ways to play the Atlanta, you don't have to do it that way. You can acknowledge a fair point and still elect to not follow it for your own reasons. But just dismissing people for having bad stats on a ship isn't a good argument, so isn't dismissing other people's arguments for not having as many battles as you, or not having a Youtube series or something like that. And this: Is just you spouting BS. No one in here claimed to be "the ultimate ships-expert". There's simply people in here that are better players than some and people who are worse players than some. Neither is an expert, though it lends itself to trust one group of players recommendations over the other, PARTICULARILY if some of the latter category are busier with strawmans than with anything else. If you wish to criticize lup3s' credibility, the least you can do is to not flat out lie (because that only destroys yours!).
