  1. The joys of a balls to the wall battle are second to none imho.
  2. That Fiji should be ashamed of herself and that Belfast sent to Australia, getting outscored by an Emerald ...
  3. Today was apparently steamroll day ... one lopsided game after another. Here's two extreme examples ... Looks like a crappy result eh? That's me having the topscore on the winning team ... enemy team got wrecked so hard the whole match lasted a pityful six and a half minutes until the enemy team ran out of points to lose. Special thanks to the enemy Shimakaze who didn't get the Akizuki AP memo and kept showing me his broadside at an ever so slight angle for me to u´just farm normal AP penetrations and end him in a handful seconds (he also got spotted way early so he didn't have the concealment skill or upgrade). And there was this smackdown in my Iowa (a ship I recently started grinding again): Broadsides for days ... seriously, what the hell is wrong with people? Hurr durr I'm an Amagi, let's show perfect broadside to an Iowa and Missouri, what could possible go wrong The enemy Iowa didn't fare much better though in his defence we didn't give him much time to react ... first a double citadel salvo from me, then he caught two torps from @MortenTardo in his Fletcher then @FlutterRage sealed the deal with another citadel salvo. Again didn't lose a single ship on our team with a good part of our team hardly seeing any action before we won. BOOOOOORING!!!
  4. You weren't the only one. Minotaur isn't the greatest at chasing fleeing enemies ... nearly all my damage was done in the starting minutes in the brief standoff at the cap and after everything over there got wrecked or ran, I had barely an opportunity to do more damage. And as Morten mentioned, these kinds of roll-over games were the norm today. Not always as fun as that game when the enemy gets chewed up so fast you win in 6 minutes with barely any damage done. But eh, meeting up fellow forumites is typically always worthwhile, so kudos to @44smok for hardcore tanking (sorry, we kinda drove them all towards you) and a cheerful hey ya to you! Compliments had been dispensed.

Is that why @Teob_VG got into our game, begging for us to chill so he can get some damage done? Also, bloody ten likes per day limit!

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

You can always hop into our public chat channel ingame "The Scrubs Community" (make sure to search with upper case letters, because WGs ingame search sucks!" and ask for divisions. We also hang around a lot in the official WG WoWs TS server (92.223.3.90:9989) where you can just hop into the channels and say hi. I'll be online a bit later for a couple hours (again) so you can chat me up for a division if you want.
  8. Aotearas

Why are some divisions so unreasonable?

Eh, just as there's bad players, there's clans full of bad players. Very few clans actually have as high standards as the prominent competitive ones, most are social clans of likeminded people ... that also means you're going to run into plenty clans whose like minds go "hurr durr I are the greaterestest and everyone else be muh slaves".

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

Precisely. I suppose one of the pictures can actually trail down and take up some space below and across the shirt, but this is the basic layout I have in mind.

That one. And the front would be less stomach area than chest height (particularily the clantag would be positioned like you would do a nametag on a uniform for example). So essentially we got space for two smaller images for right and left from the buttons on the chest level. I'll go to my local printing workshop soon™ to get precise numbers on the image sizes we could cram on the shirt.

so i just played against a Conqueror.

Skill ceiling =/= skill floor. You can't argue a line is noob friendly and then cite the upper half of average player performances. That's literally comparing apples to oranges. The fact that the top player percentages aren't showing much difference only means the skill ceiling doesn't edge out over the competition. I'd be much more interested in seeing the stats comparision in the lower half of that spectrum to see if and how much better/less worse the noobs perform. You shouldn't look if they are doing significantly better, you should be looking if they do significantly worse! In that regard, Exocet's closing point is entirely accurate: if you argue the KM BBs are as popular as they are because they are more noobfriendly (i.e.: a greater number of noobs are playing those as opposed to the other BB lines) then the statistics for those ships should logically be worse (compared to a line of BBs that has less noobs playing it, ergo less bottom half stats dragging the average down). That would also help explain your percieved Alabama abnormality ... after all one of the distinctive features for that ship is the amazing torpedo protection. Guess who's going to get more benefits from that? Smart players that know how to use WASD and anticipate torp runs, or noobs who inattentively catch torps but stay alive due to the damage and flooding chance reduction provided by the torpedo belt? That results in better numbers in the low performing bracket, which in turn has less negative impact on the stats by the good players, ergo resulting in comparatively better averages. Though I'd be careful trying to draw any meaningful conclusions from the Alabama stats considering the massive difference in sample size between here and the remaining tier VIII BBs (it does make for a servicable illustration on the skill point floor though ...). Sadly the WoWs statistics sites that I use don't offer a filter for the bottom half of player percentages, only the top half so I can't draw direct numbers. If someone knows a statistics tracker where you can check for that, do tell.

Well, for starters you could change the natural 20 into a 1. As another indicator of RNGeezus' wrath a ship in the background may be shown firing a turret but the shells are all flying out the barrels at wierd directions (say triple turret, one shells falls directly into the water, another one is making a drunken beeline and the last one turned around and is about to hit its own ship ...).

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

A captain riding a seal is a neat image indeed. Another thing element I just thought about we could use (that reflects us rather well) would be RNGeezus looking down upon the scenery from the clouds with a dissapointed look

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

Well, as long as it looks good and not like an amateurish photoshop mixed with crayon doodles I'm fine. Handmade however is preferable (duh). Maybe Reaper can stuff some crayons into his daughters hands ... Something that I just thought of just this second would be something like this: The border of the image is window shaped (i.e.: clearly recognizable as a window) and a ship with googly eyes and a tongue is attempting to lick it. On the bridge we could photoshop a pony in as the captain. In the background we could have one or two other ships in similar fashion (googly eyes and tonges lolling around) trying to catch up. One of those could perhaps lick a distressed seal instead ... and somewhere a shipgirl (Shimakaze or for maximum torpedo soup -> Kitakami) is sailing around (maybe the other ship is trying to lick her?). That was just the random image that popped into my mind as I thought about it.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

Obviously there needs to be windows and licking. And some crazy stuff (that's where the memes come in) because well, we're kinda a whack bunch. Maybe a couple seals (wait, what am I talking about again?) ... let's just brainstorm a bit and then someone who's not artistically challenged can put it together if we got something neat.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

For recruitment you'll have to talk to Loran or Blogis. And yeah, if you guys want to submit a fishy captain, do go ahead. If it has something of a Scrub theme (just look through this thread to get a rough idea) then even better! Or if you guys want to do something but not be subject to any limitations that I set here (or get outbidden by my fellow Scrublords), I'm sure there's a cappy or something you guys can conjure up that goes onto unoccupied body space. If you guys do make something however, I will ask for pictures at your booth so you better have time for that! Yeah, pretty much like this. Though be sparing with memes and stuff, the shirt should be about the Scrubs clan foremost and not about all the weird stuff we tend to flind around, that stuff should be more background. Also, that pony is taking up entirely too much space

    remove yamamoto´s special abilities

Well, WG could put them up for sale in the premium shop, duh ... I think it's utter bollocks to have special captains with different captain skills (let alone passive bonuses!). I don't want the captain building to go from "use this build" to "use this build on THIS captain" to get optimal results for a specific ship and playstyle.

    remove yamamoto´s special abilities

And Imperator Nikolai I. is totally balanced because there's only so few around. Can we please dispense with the nonsensical belief that rarity is a balance factor? Getting a free heal and a ludicrous dpm buff when meeting the requirement at exactly ZERO cost to the player other than the initial effort of unlocking the captain over an equally specced vanilla captain (who gets none of those passive bonuses) is by the very definition of the term unbalanced! If WG insists on introducing legendary captains, then tweak the effects of the actual captains skills (like with Steven Seagull and Jack Dunkirk!). But passive skills that are just beneficial freebies is bloody nonsense. We could really do without introducing a powercreep for ship captains, thank you very much!!!

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

Alright fellas, I'll be at this year's Gamescom in Cologne on wednesday the 23rd of August, prowling around the WG booth among other places. If anyone else from here is going on the same day, let's meet! Also let's upon up y'all creativity valves and see what comes steamin' outta those: I'll be making a custom printed shirt (polo shirt for extra swaggyness) and I want to put us Scrubs there (someone gotta carry you lot on their back anyway!). So get those creativity juices flowing and make up some neat Scrub clan pictures that I can put on that shirt to wear with pride and a slight sidenote of embarrassment. I'll have space for at least one large image that goes on the back, so get wild with that one boys (though it has to be about WoWs and our clan, obviously). I shall even allow a pony for havaduck under the condition that it fits with the rest and isn't overbearing (it's about the Scrubs after all!) AND distinctively labeled as havaduck! Also for the back I naturally want my nickname with clantags across shoulder height/width (big picture goes just below that, you guys can merge the two together or just make two seperate images). For the front we obviously need a neat version of our Clan tags! Given that it'll be a polo shirt, that leaves room for one more small'ish image (something that incorporates the Gamescom logo would fly pretty well, say a Scrub licking it as an example). Ready, set, go! @Tuccy@MrConway You guys are welcome to get creative aswell and submit something in this thread if any of your art designers are feeling bored. Or maybe give me VIP access to the WG booth, or just shower me with bonus codes that I can give (half of) to my clan, just saying ...
  20. So, every can see the news article about the current weekly mission, right? Guess what, the description for stage V is false. It says any ship of tier VI or higher, but ingame the mission requirements are german BBs of tier VI or higher only. Nevermind the typical WG EU mission designs, but can you fellows at least get your news articles correct? I was wondering why I didn't get the final stage done despite meeting all the requirements that I read on the portal news until someone actually pointed out to me that the actual ingame mission is limited to german BBs.

  23. Oh boy today was turbulent ... according to Warships.today I had a WTR of 1701, yet just managed to get over 50% winrate. So many bad matchups (Z-23 and a game full of DDs that outspot me, a Minotaur that turned half the map into a no-go zone and a Taiho that was doing its job of spotting DDs (and thus me) ...) and enough potatoes to end world hunger. But I persevered! Finally a decent game in my FdG (still completely stock): Team was smart enough to ignore A and go for B and C (which was a minor miracle considering the average of players I come across that will gleefully go to A on this map ... or D on Northern Lights ... or C on Fault Line ... you know, those kinds of special people) instead. Had a bit of a scare when I saw everyone moving away from B after we captured it (after all the whole point of focusing B over A is that it's easy to defend, but you can't defend if everyone sails away ...) but some actually came back when the enemy started trying to push to B. For a minute or so it totally looked like I had to fight three Bismarcks, a Baltimore and a Yuugumo all by myself. Thankfully my team's lapse of judgement was only temporary, otherwise I swear we would've lost and me posting this match with slightly more salty taste. Still gotta say, the stock FdG is a real mule to play. And there's this game on Epicenter, Tears of the Desert in my Baltimore: This time the enemy held the majority of potatoes and we even had a couple competent players though I have to say the only reason I didn't give our topscoring Fletcher a compliment was that he was entirely selfish with his smokes; seriously man, all you had to do was just extend your smokescreen for a handful hundred meters and you would've covered three additional ships instead of just yourself! Plays like that are just frustrating ... when a teammate has to just edge his ship forward a couple seconds longer (and he absolutely had plenty puffs of smoke left!) and smoke up several teammates, but simple doesn't care and as soon as he gets undetected he stops and just sits in his own smoke as his allies get hammered. Crap like that can make the difference between a loss or victory! There was also that game in my Atlanta (I think my divisionmate plays a lot of CVs if his reaction to seeing my choice of ship is anything to go by ) on the Trap map. With no smoke to hide in the island in B became my new bestest friend. Somehow still ended comfortably at topscore. No screenshots because the Atlanta is just more awesome than the server can handle and the game crashed on me upon match completion ... I swear I love the Atlanta, that ship just clicks with me so hard! Oh, I also somehow managed to citadel a Tirpitz in my own. Rare enough to get listed here I suppose
