WG Support - Is this normal

    Accountability? WG?
  2. Today? Not destroying anything on my desk. The average quality of teams I had today was equal to some of the more worse weekends ... how those people even manage to start up the game is beyond me.

    Team Kill Plea

My rough idea would be a twofold system, first, reporting: Players can flag others for causing teamdamage/teamkilling. The report also automatically logs the timestamp the moment you file the report and saves a copy of the replay file on a WG databank (to help with speeding up the process so an operator doesn't have to watch through the entire replay and ensure the necessary evidence is present), the report also opens a text window after you died (ir if you lived, after the game) for players to add context/details (for example saying the offender was also a jerk in chat, so the operator can look through the chatlog). The other way would be opening a ticket to support directly and providing the necessary details (time of the incident, etc.), which also serves as a back up if a player had already blown through his daily reports. Replayfile has to be supplied or else the report goes ignored. Next is priority management: The system employs a priority queue to work through more obvious/sever cases faster and reduce operator workload. Reports filed that end in actual teamkills have maximum priority. Next priority is cases of extreme teamdamage (based on target HP percentage). Next step down is support tickets with adequate details (timestamp, screenshots, explanation of context and/or whatnot). Lowest priority is reports lacking details. In addition, individual users also get a priority modifier. Submitting reports that end up being proper violations means reports submitted by the user will get higher priority in the future. Incorrect reports mean lower priority. False reports (troll reports) will not only lower the users priority modifier, but also incur penalties. After raising up a sifficient number of high priority modifier users, a shared community system might even be implemented for them to judge anonymized replays, taking some workload off the support operators.

We're talking Missouri, not Conqueror ...

    Pinki for 10 games

Filthy pinkie! How did you not see a Missouri creeping up beside you though, that ship ain't exactly small?
  6. For some at least. Though only for issues that started with the creators update.

How is repair cost calculated ?

I'll go offtopic for a bit here, but ... I know that's how it's supposed to be, but quite frankly the amounts of credits and XP (we're supposed to also get XP for that, aren't we?) for actions like tanking (potential damage), scouting (damage dealt upon your spotting, ships/squadrons spotted), spotting torpedoes, etc. is so small that I genuinely can't tell if we get anything at all. I can have a game with such and such damage, base XP, etc. and less than a million potential damage and just a couple thousand spotting damage and get X amount of credits ... and the next game I have roughly the same damage done, same base XP but tanking several millions potential damage and dod over 100k spotting damage, yet the difference in credits is so negligably small that just the minor differences on what ships you deal damage to explain the difference (HP percentage variations) or much more/less ammunition I used. For all I can tell ingame, actually tanking and spotting has no rewards or so little that the increased risks aren't worth it.

    Team Kill Plea

I know that customer satisfaction isn't worth much and that WG would never invest any sizeable money into improving something that doesn't tangibly generate revenue. Doesn't mean I can't vent and call the system for what it is, not doing the job it needs to do, or say that jerkasses who rather ruin other people's games don't deserve playing it. I seriously doubt that. If other games that people pay up front for can permanently ban people who violate their ToS and rules of ingame conduct (such as griefing, cheating, harrassing other players, etc. pp.), even go as far as crossban players across multiple titles that share the same banlist (for example a global ban in the Punkbuster anti-cheat service will also ban that player ID across any game Punkbuster supports), then I don't see how a free-to-play game is any different.

    Team Kill Plea

Why is everyone keeping on assuming an automated system? I'm talking about human oversight handling the reports. And if someone baits an ally into firing from second line and then drives into those, guess who support would punish for griefing ... Let me be perfectly clear here, the automated system we have is utter shyte. It doesn't work at detecting deliberate teamkillers. WG needs human support operators to handle cases. People who can take a look at a replay, read the chat where the douchecanoe announces ("ima teamkill yo arse!"), then goes through with the teamkill, then gets flippin' perma-banned for severe violation of the game's ToS players conduct rules. Except many trolls would at that point just lose any sense of restraint and just kill themselves on reflected damage after shooting allies, which means one ship less on the team, which is the same end result as if they teamkilled someone else. Players who deliberately do BS like that simply don't belong into the game, period.

    Detection debuff change suggestion

Why stop differentiating by class or gun caliber? Different muzzle brakes, type and amount of propellant determine the intensity of the muzzle flash. Different ships of the same class, with the same caliber of guns could get tweaked to have different gun bloom characteristics along a rough balance guideline. Gun bloom should at the very least be no less than the reload though (unless a ship were to be deliberately balanced around that characteristic).
  11. Wouldn't be half as bad if you could quickly uncheck the notification, but no, first you gotta open up the ludicrously slow ingame browser and then slog through the individual news to clear all notifications.

    Team Kill Plea

I know how the automated TK system works. I also know it has a ludicrously high threshold before it penalizes players (short of the instant pink condition upon sinking an ally) and that people can get pink a whole lot of times without getting banned. I also know a handful players that I know for a fact deliberately TKed allies on multiple occasions, but are still playing. I know because I reported them myself with all the evidence necessary (screenshots and replay file), got told by WG support the automated system is adequate, only to see them ingame yet again, teamkilling with malicous glee, even boasting about it. Automated systems with thresholds to account for unintended incidents can be easily exploited by simply staying off the radar in between killing sprees. If the systems logs a history the threshold might lower over time and eventually they may even get banned (which we don't even know if that is the case here, because WG doesn't publish a ban list of any sort one might crossreference), but that can take a looong time, which is entirely too long. Case in point, in one game a teamkiller managed to TK three (3!!!!!) allies before damage started being reflected on him. That is at the very least two allies too many! Truly, an effective automated system ... And that is why support should not just brush report tickets aside referring to their automated system. The automated system can't detect intent. A human operator looking at the replay (or in many cases just the damn chatlog) can tell if the TK was an accident or intended. And if there was intent -> perma-ban! If you want me to detail what I think would be a practical and effective system to manage teamkill reports, then I can do that. Have done so in fact already in another topic like this quite some time ago. Was mostly about how to manage a potentially massive amount of false flags and fastforward legitimate reports for faster processing by support operators. You can then judge that one if you want and tell me again how I don't understand the automated system or whatnot. But it's still going to be a zero-tolerance for deliberate griefers, because zero tolerance is what douchecanoes deserve!

    World of Whining

No, that's not what you wanted to say. I mean it's right there in the thread title: "World of Whining" which is strikingly different from "I and others like the game". This thread was all about whining. It's right there, black on white, in your writing. And I'll have to ask you to back up where you got the "most people" from. Last I checked, most people aren't on the forum, so how do you know their opinion? And whilst we're at it, liking something doesn't necessarily mean the thing they like is quality work. Or that they even think it's quality work. Many people like many things that are awful to a lot of others. Many people have opinions that are in fact objectively wrong. As an hands-on example: There, objectively wrong. I have seen a lot of constructive criticism. I have seen proposed solutions for existing problems that WG has identified. You're also making a fundamental error in your thought process here: people can complain, criticize and outrigght whine about the game and still like it. Passion doesn't just mean people praise something they like. It also means they complain about stuff they feel makes that which they like worse. They complain because they like the game, because they want it to be better (and certainly not worse). Why do they like the game is again entirely subjective and may just be plain wrong. BB players are as passionate about having their battleships smash everything as other players are passionate about providing a balanced environment where BBs don't simply smash everything aside. It's the how that determines the value. And looking at this thread, I don't see it any better than those whine threads you're complaining about. Had you provided a template on how to constructive voice your opinion in a manner that makes it a structurally and rationally comprehensible argument as opposed to simple kneejerk reactions that constitute so many of those impulsive whine threads ... that would've been valuable.

    Team Kill Plea

Blatant teamkillers should simply get permanent banned. Anytime it's evident there was no ither intent than to teamkill, instant perma-ban! If someone is just stupidly negligent and torps from second line or otherwise hits an ally but no clear intent to teamkill is obvious, 96 hours suspension for the first offence, two weeks suspension for the second time, two months for the third time and if he hasn't learned it by then, perma-ban! If someone is stupidly negligent and damages allies, but doesn't kill them, same as above but with damage thresholds. Think a guy goes pink, 96 hours suspension ... second time he gets enough teamdamage, two weeks, then two months, then perma-ban! In addition, if at any point it was ever without reasonable doubt that a person was deliberately teamkilling or griefing by causing teamdamage, identification characteritics will be saved in a database to cross reference with other existing and future accounts. If a teamkiller bought a premium ship with a credit card, the number gets logged. If ANY account uses the same card number to attempt a purchase: no sell, but have a perma-ban on the house!

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

It's not official, but our TS is empty and everyone I know has switched to Discord ... which is just dandy because it doesn't work for me, so now I can't play with folks anymore.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

So, in light of technical difficulties with Discord, I seriously have to question the necessity for switching to that over the existing TeamSpeak. I have a dynamic IP that changes every day. That's how my ISP does the internet. That's afaik how all ISPs in my region do their internet. That means every flippin' day I get the "new log-in location detected, please verify your account" when I wish to log into Discord ... then because Discord is apparently lazy as hell, it takes five or more minutes for the bloody email to arrive ... but if that wasn't annoying enough already, now apparently I can't hear ANYTHING when I actually get into our Discord despite not having changed any settings (neither on Discord nor on my own hardware or PC sound settings). So not only is this Discord a real PITA to just log-in, but it evidently randomly decides to not bloody work at all. We have a working TS3 server. We can use WG's WoWs TS3 server. Can someone please explain to me why we need to switch to Discord now?

What is wrong with Queen Elisabeth?

Can't say I share the disappointment. Very much like the Queen Lizzy. The guns seem just as accurate as the Warspite which is great and the armour is the same. Though with IFHE creeping up more and more (nevermind RN BBs now firing HE all the time) the 25mm hull armour might seem lacklustre, though the Warspite wouldn't fare any better. Not quite as manouverable as the Warspite to be sure, but in turn she gets amazong longrange AA. Overall I'd say the Queen Lizzy is rocksolid and anyone who played the Warspite should have little trouble acclimating to her.

I see your Kancolle and raise you Mancolle: Here some cosplay: So manly!!! Also apologies to the poor chaps that had to endure me salting the ocean. I good pizza (thanks to Lanfear for the inspiration!) really helped cool down my temper ... there's nothing you can't cure with a damn hot pizza (all those tips started paying off: pizza delivery clocks in at an average of 15 minutes as opposed to the starting 30 minutes!) full with extra cheese, pepperoni salami, yallapennos and as much chili spices as is possible without the thing being literally on fire! Burned all the hatred clean away.

Amazing MM: 0-12, yes, it exists!

Either you guys are terribly lucky to barely ever see those kinds of disintegrations, or MM really does just unload all the potatoes into my games all the time, because I'm getting these kind of shutouts on a daily basis. And I can tell you it typically starts with decent players trying to do their jobs, but the rest of the team decides to be everywhere but somewhere useful and the decent players on the enemy team focus you down and then just mop up all the idiots. Being a good player doesn't help much when your team just abandons one another and the enemy has the sense to .. well ... not do that stupid thing.
  21. Just met @svadilfari ingame. Sadly me and my buddies got blown to smithereens by a fusilade of concentrated fire because once again the first thing our team's BBs do at the start of the battle is turn a-f*cking-round instead of actually getting anywhere near the bloody objectives! What's this? I have the ship with the most armour, the most HP and the most firepower? GOTTA HIDE IN THE BACK!!! So sick and tired to try and play the objectives according to my ship's roles only to be utterly left alone ... and in between stealthy DDs and hiding BBs, the only thing for the entire enemy team to shoot is naturally the cruisers. I swear I don't know how long I can tolerate that sh*t before either just playing for myself only and screw the team, or just straight up uninstall. I just checked ... I lived for two minutes and still managed to acrue two million potential damage ... and still beat two of our BBs in score, despite only having done a measly 7k damage before getting annihilated. :/facepalm:

    Gate - Anime recommendation

Finally got to see Redline ... and I absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend that movie. It's like LSD for your eyes! The visuals are borderline breathtaking and if I had to describe the style in one word it would be "funky". Seriously, I could praise the artstyle, animation quality, colour palette, etc. in pages worth of words but I wouldn't do the presentation justice. Just watch it, do yourself the favour and watch it! You will NOT regret spending those little under two hours. Have tissues handy though, because this is pure, unadultered eyegasm material!!! Watch it!
  23. @Poseidon_Wrath caught my eye today in a downright vicious rundown of a Nelson with his King George V. ... he literally squeezed himself between the Nelson and the island the former was using as cover from other ships and then unloaded pointblank into his broadside and not simply devasted, but outright executed that poor sod. Ballsy AF that was and I couldn't help but publically appreciate it. He jumped into the WG WoWs TS server and tagged along for some neat games thereafter. Nice games mate!
