Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

'Fate/Apocrypha' was released as a light novel, but the original concept was for a videogame. More Scathach and Lancer goodness: -

Sorry to chime in a bit off-topic, but I don't really think the Studio Deen 'Fate/Stay Night' adaption is particularily bad. It simply had nowhere near the production budget that Ufotable had for 'Unlimited Blade Works' for example. Plus it adapted the Fate (Saber) route which is a rather by-the-books plot and simply pales in comparision to the more dynamic UBW and HF plot routes (or the Fate/Zero novel). It's simply a bit less interesting by default and Studio Deen couldn't exactly polish it with generous animation and art supplements because they didn't have quite as much of a budget. Now, the Studio Deen movie adaption of the UBW route ... THAT was really, really bad! 'Fate/Apocrypha' is also very much showing how it's based on what was initially a draft for a videogame (I mean, that main protagonist is so friggin' bland it just screams generic player character #172) ... plus I'm not particularily impressed with A-1 Pictures as a production studio anyway after what they did with 'Gate' but that's a rant I already did in another forum thread. Now, for a bit more on-topic: the true husbando and waifu of Fate! Scathach and Cu Chulainn. Sadly Bro-Lancer can't catch a break ... or really ANY lancer in the Fate universe. -

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Aotearas replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Current replacement GPU is an old Fermi generation GPU (GTX 570) and the card itself is also already quite used. Enough juice to play the game in theory, but I got a lot of stuttering and fluctuating framerates, so I'll hold off XCOM 2 until I got myself a new GPU (aiming to gift myself a buff one this christmas) and play XCOM EU/EW until then. Wouldn't want the replacement card ALSO burn out all of a sudden ...- 3,079 replies

Easy, just keep doing what we're doing, except more NSFW and the moderator views will boost our thread to the top faster than you can link tentacle po- erm ... unleash the Kraken. Pfft, do we even have to try? In other news, started playing XCOM again, specifically Enemy Unknown and more specifically it's expansion: Enemy Within. My support (seargent rank, not a snotnosed rookie (not that any classed soldier even could be a rookie)) missed a 99% hitchance flanking shot on a Thin Man ... god damn it! N00b protection everywhere! I have half a mind renaming that sucker into Shooty '99 Problems' McMissHisFace.- 3,079 replies

FREE: Reset Commander Skills and Dismount Upgrades from your Ships October 19th - 24th
Aotearas replied to iJoby's topic in General Discussion
Same here, had just spent 140.000 elite captain XP to respec my Donskoy captain. Not that I'm particularily short on that ... but still, hindsight can be a real smug b****. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Aotearas replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Swam across @evilmii and his Bismarck in my Charles Martel in a tier X game. I suspect he may have instructed his team to focus me, because their BBs had a morbid fascination with prioritizing me over every other ship nearby (utterly ignoring for example a Moskva and a Zao busy pouring fire into them) ... either that or his team's BB players were extremely francophob. Sadly didn't have much RNG luck this game, only 3 measly fires with 128 HE hits so I didn't exactly shine on the scoreboard ... all those ships with DCP on cooldown, but no fires -
Maybe she gets the black magic heal or a special Defensive AA that boosts its 12,7mm dps by 50000% ?

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Today was wierd. Team quality wa slike a pendulum, one game you got decent players and the enemy was a bunch of monkeys, next game you got all the monkeys and the enemy team the decent players. Don't think I had a single game today that was actually resembling a fair fight ... my winrate did enjoy it mostly though. Also, my Donskoy very much enjoyed lots of cruiser broadsides: Barely missed the Witherer by around ~4k fire damage ... naturally the Lion in my division had one though -
Yep, looks like barely any AA on that thing. But who cares, barely any CVs around that could punish it anyway. The overmatch shouldn't be too much of any issue though since tier VII BBs already get overmatched by regular tier VIII and IX BB calibers (though in tier IX max games the tier VIIIs and other tier IXs will naturally suffer when they would otherwise be save from overmatching). Given sufficient accuracy tweaks, the Musashi shouldn't be too devastating for its tier. Nice to see the original 155mm wingturrets though. Maybe if WG changes those to fire HE rather than AP, I might actually try a secondary spec for the Musashi (not if they still fire AP, that will simply keep bouncing off everything, rather useless for secondary armament). Anyhoot, almost back to a million free XP so I'm looking forward to more details on that ship for as long as it doesn't turn out to be a simple free XP sink.

Eh, change to the Belfast is minimal as pretty much everything will be spotted long before it gets that close to you by allies (unless you sail around compeltely alone, in which case smoking up also means you wouldn't see anything to shoot anyway). The only ship that could creep close enough without getting spotted would be a DD and Belfast still got radar so I honestly doubt many DD players will even attempt to proximity spot you even with the increased smoke detactability. Change to the Kutuzov is a bit more substantial, but largely exclusive to short range aggressive smokes. Popping a smoke to shoot up some ship 10+km away without getting spotted will work just the same. It will however make DDs getting close to try and proximity spot you a viable counter, which is frankly something good in my books as the Kutuzov kind of needed a counterplay that isn't rader or blind shots into its smoke. Don't own a Perth so I can't say anything about that. I'm more interested in what that change does in regards to teamplay (i.e.: smoking up allied cruisers near caps so they can help without getting instagibbed by the five BBs on the enemy team). Imho those smoke detectabilities for heavy cruisers are pretty harsh on every cruiser that doesn't come with radar. Des Moines can simply radar anything if they're spotted and Moskva only has a 1km buffer zone between its smoke detactability and its radar range, the Zao ought to be manageable at a bit over 7km but ships like the Hindenburg and HIV are sh*t out of luck. Pretty sure I'm going to make use of the free captain respec for my german cruiser captain and then just slot Defensive AA instead of hydro, particularily since the smoke detection changes IMMENSELY devalued the Hydroacoustic Search consumable for aggressive anti-smoke pushes and Vigilance already does a good enough job at spotting torpedo threats soon enough.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Developer responses are only highlighted on the forum start-up page, not when you jump straight to the whatever-language subforum you actually browse/read. As for any other illustrating comments of yours truly, I'll just refer to Kartoffelmos' comment. If you feel like having to reiterate your displeasure with my lack of omniscience any more, I suggest you spare yourself the effort because I certainly won't be indulging from this point forward. Clan battle prime time, who else can't play?
Aotearas replied to SoggyMuffin's topic in General Discussion
Only thing that I can think of (which actually makes good sense) would be to enforce a smaller activity window so that everyone has roughly the same chance of meeting one another. Compare to if you could play clan battles 24/7, no doubt some people would try to exploit low-activity hours to ensure not facing stronger competition that would otherwise be more active during high-activity hours. That however doesn't explain why WG chose such a nonsensical timeframe that's basically untenable for everyone who has to get up in the morning (as many people with standard working hours would have to, for example) or who flat-out don't have the time at all during the night hours (family obligations). Perhaps WG is still subscribing to the outdated prejudice that only those with excessive freetime play videogames ... -
The 'unanswered questions about Clan Battles' thread

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Aotearas replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Considering the primetime to which playing clanbattles is restricted to, even if I wanted to play (which I don't, just in case I hadn't made that clear already!) I couldn't because I have things to do early in the morning and I rather have a good night of sleep before going to university or work than beta test WG's latest f*ck-up. If I'm really, REALLY bored I might do a couple clan battles here and there, but don't count on me to go jumping through hoops, even for a russian-bias edition tier XaXaXa Scharnhorst.- 3,079 replies

The 'unanswered questions about Clan Battles' thread
Aotearas replied to Bellegar's topic in General Discussion
Maybe they're digging themselves ever deeper because it'd be easier to tunnel through the planet than get back up again. -
Ostensibly because most ships below tier VI are WW1 or Interwar era ships which historically had little in the way of AA armament due to aircraft carriers not having been a principle weapon platform until later. Why WG failed to mirror the early CV ineffectiveness/inexperience and instead provided lowtier CVs with enough firepower to outright nuke many ships in one attack run (essentially all cruisers and DDs can easily be killed in one go if you just hit two or three airdropped torps), rather than scale their damage potential as the tiers progress, that is a question which the WG balance department staunchly refuses to even ask themselves and rather neuter integral gameplay elements like manual attacks in an effort to reduce their efficacy even at the cost of depriving newcomers the chance to learn crucial CV gameplay functions in a relatively save environment that isn't swarming with Clevelands, Atlantas, Kutuzovs and other higher tier CVs ...

At this point, I'm inclined to believe that we (with that I mean most of us forumites and otherwise invested players that wish for a structurally sound and balanced gameplay that is enjoyable to everyone who puts in a modicum of effort beyond "touchy da buttoms to make gun go BOOM and see da enemy asplode") have thoroughly misinterpreted us to be the actual clientel, when it appears more and more obvious that the plethora of seemingly shortsighted decisions is so consistent in their appearence and nature that they're indeed deliberate and targeting a demographic that's easily wowed by a bit marketing buzzwords and the sparkle of new ship, whilst possessing a limited attention span that makes them forget about anything they might not like as soon as WG announces the next premium ship to keep the Ruble rolling. Or maybe I'm actually giving WG too much credit here and should simply apply Hanlon's Razor ... as of yet I'm still undecided which path I should chose on that t-junction of cynicism.

Still wouldn't touch WoWP or any other WG game in full ABC hazard suit and isolated tweezers. WoWs is only still in my current gaming circle because I've invested too much time into it to just drop it for anything short than apocalyptically bad WG decisions (which mind you WG appears to be fully intent on attempting anyway). Also, shameless plug because I take every opportunity to share the intro for "The Sky Crawlers" (very, very nice movie!): Also, if we're talking aviation animation:- 3,079 replies

Again my sincerest apologies, but I don't stalk each and every WG staff member or actually read through the entire forum each time before I open a topic. And if you wish to waggle a finger, maybe, just maybe, point that one at WG for failing to publish the correct news draft without which any such miscommunication wouldn't have happened. Though I would've still opened one to point out the restrictive nature of the time window anyway, so this topic still serves its purpose. But why am I even telling you this, oh Infallible One. I'm sure you never missed a detail even after out-of-date news have just been released. I'd bow before your omniscient greatness but I'm too busy grovelling for your forgiveness ... or whatever else it is you want to hear to sate your forum crusading attitude.

Ah, at least 19:00 to 22:00 is much closer to what I'd think halfway reasonable (would still make that two sessions per day, one late morning/noon and one later afternoon/evening). Actually nevermind, since switching back from daylight saving time means it's still going to be 20:00 to 23:00 ... which is only marginally less restrictive than the original (false, because WG can't communicate) timeframe. You mean the other thread that was created after this one? My sincerest apologies, it appears my clairvoyance has failed me.
