    Stuck on a 54% winrate

40%? That's a generous assumption. I'm thinking more like ~35%. Then again most of us scrubs are like this. I think the clanmate with our highest loserate is something like 45% or something pedestrian like that. We're working on improving our consistency, there's standards to uphold scrubs to after all.

I don't sealclub. I provide advanced beginner crash-courses. Not my fault the students are involuntary and mostly crashing. Also, I don't club at tier III, that would be cruel. I club at tier IV to provide a counterweight to those Orions (that's my excuse for abusing my Nikolai and I'll stick with that until they nerf the RN BB HE).

Now now Blogis, don't be so toxic to those scrubs.

I'm not arguing against the fact that one person can tip the scales in a fight. I'm just stating that the reverse is also true, just as much as one competent player doing the right thing increases his team's chances to win, a player doing the wrong thing decreases the chance. Also, the enemy team might just the same have competent players. And if the latter outnumber the former there's nothing one player can do unless they can singlehandedly defeat the entire enemy team (and the game clock). Sometimes even the best players can't carry a game. I've actually come to believe that in teambased games, it's not the team with the most competent players win, but with the least incompetent. After all competent players tend to do the right things, on both side, leading to a stand-off. And it's at that point that mistakes make the deciding opportunity that competent players can exploit and then snowball the game in their favour. The less skilled players typically make those mistakes, thus making them the single most deciding players in the game. As they say, a chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Then again, it might be a bit arrogant to say such, but at least that's how I'd summarize my experience (not only from videogames, also RL sports).

Unless someone can sink all twelve enemy ships consistently, no; one person can't carry a game. Even in the screenshot you provided you have at least two other cruisers who did a lot of lifting (2k base XP). If they hadn't, even getting six kills by yourself probably wouldn't have carried the game. I've seen people getting 5 or more frags in a game and still losing because the rest of the team was either outplayed comprehensively or were simply useless potatoes. I mean we have an entire forum thread filled with screenshots where the losing player got more base XP than the best winning player. Sad truth is that if the stars align in the wrong order, you're not just fighting the enemy, but your own team just the same (in some cases quite literally if you got deliberate teamkillers/griefers on your side)
  7. *Sigh* weekends ... so much frustration, so much nonsense. Still got a couple neat games in though. Have I already mentioned that I love this ship? Because I do. It's amazing and a true joy to play. The rear firepower focus can be tricky to make work for an aggressive player, but perhaps (read: assuredly) it's a better thing to force me to be a bit more passive with the ongoing anti-cruiser meta and hey, it still works. This ship also retaught we the viability of the spotter airplane for cruisers. Now only 20k XP away from the Hindenburg. Which is doubly nice because me most recent tier X addition with the Moskva is so far terribly fruitless to the point of frustration. That ship simply isn't behaving, the AP in particular is terriby underwhelming, I get far better AP consistency with my Roon AP (and that ought to be telling).

I believe it's commonly accepted that 65% is about the maximum (ergo the crème de lá crème of players) sustainable winrate playing solo (you can't carry every match after all). Divisions have a higher sustainable winrate (if we're assuming competent players divisioning up), mostly because it automatically means two less slots for potential potatoes on your team that are instead occupied by competent players AND the additional benefits of coordinated teamwork. Even with divisions however you can't carry every game (weekends bruh).

    New Ships!

Yeah, anti-BB specialist DD line ... torpedoes. The single most inconsistent armament in the game, nevermind that some of the more popular BBs already have hydro to help against torps even further. The class I see punish the most from those alleged anti-BB DDs are the cruisers that are between the BBs and the enemy DDs, have much lower HP and torpedo protection (ergo take more damage and all of that is crippling) and still get hit by those deepwater torpedoes.

Next free XP boat, any ideas?

A couple come to mind, mostly because they'd be a bit quirky to try and get into the game other than premium ships. Alaska-class, most probably categorized ingame as battleship. Possibly fits best at tier VIII. Or perhaps a real cheeky tier X cruiser. Ooyodo in 1945 AA cruiser configuration. Should fit nicely at tier VI with a couple softstat tweaks to the guns, detectability and manouverabilty. HMS Argonaut, Dido-class. Think Atlanta, but with tea, crumpets and at probably tier VI.

    New Ships!

I have to wonder why the 90mm DP guns on the Roma don't show up under the AA infotab aswell ... they're even explicitely called dual purpose guns. Neither are they listed for the Duke of York. Has that always been like that or is that an oversight? That said, and at risk of sounding like a broken record, ... does this game really need more battleships with the current BB population? Roma is a sexy looking ship and I'm actually interested in her, but until I see at least some of the major issues this game has right now (BB overpopulation, ongoing foolproofing for BBs in particular, gimmick powercreeping, "Year of the CV" in general and clan battles without CVs in particular, just to name a few) getting meaningfully adresses (which means results, not just empty placative marketing BS), I'll just continue keeping my wallet shut tight out of principle.
  13. Dips on Neuschwanstein and Himeji-joo. Plus Krak de Chevaliers, simply because I want to see an anthropomorphized castle girl of it.
  14. No screenshots, but I got called a noob for not spotting the enemy for our pink Montana. In my Roon. As I was getting shot at by 5 enemy ships (which very much were visible as they tried to sink me). Said Montana kept whining about not being able to shoot anything, how I wasn't spotting, that he'd report me. All the while he was sailing along the edge of the map away from the enemy whilst I was busy tanking in my cruiser. Later when the rest of our team mopped up the enemy near A (map was Mountain Range) and moved to eliminate the remaining enemy ships near B, the Montana started b*tching at the entire team. He was 48% winrate muppet who free XP'ed his way to tier X on every line. Seriously, this guy has nearly three times as many games at tier X than all other tiers combined. The number of ships he's played just 2 games in is mindboggling. And of course 66% of his games are in BBs (free XP'ed, naturally). Dunning-Kruger with a credit card!

How do I get my standalone launcher back?

It isn't working properly a good chunk of the time. For example a clanmate of mine (@Lanfear1981) tried to install WoWs on his laptop today, but the Game Center kept telling him that he had no internet connection ...which is false as said clanmate of mine was talking to me over TeamSpeak to see if we can perhaps troubleshoot for potential user error and writing tickets to WG support from the same laptop.

How do I get my standalone launcher back?

I have opened a ticket with support for the regular internet installer executable, but so far there has been no reply. I'd advise to open a ticket about that aswell. A bit of pressure might be just what WG needs to keep distributing the non-Game Center launcher at least until the Game Center is working satisfyingly.

How is your Yamamoto Isoroku campaign going on?

    Still busy getting duplicates ...
  19. @Hochseepanzer was briefly on our side. Briefly because I suspect the enemy Yamato blapped him (didn't exactly notice until wayyyy later that he got sunk). He still made a Kiev quite unhappy I suppose.

    carrier games always massively outnumbered

You're playing the US CVs. That's the problem. Not that WG seems to particularily care ... If you really want to play CVs, go with the IJN line. Though I wouldn't particularily advise sinking in too much effort unless you really, REALLY want to because CVs are like the unwanted stepchild to WG with them postponing the much needed CV rebalance, not fixing its UI issues (stutters and overall just having a bad control UI) and flat-out locking them out of clan battles.
  22. Someone said cruisers? Gotta show them tier IX bobs how you do it. Squishy cruiser contesting, defending and ultimately capping. Plus free aircraft kills, cuz Atlanta ... And because I love the Roon: The Nürnbergs big, buff brother. The one little Nürnie goes to mumble passive aggressively about when nosey cruisers and BBs try to bully him. Roon bro don't like people picking on his little Nürnie. Roon bro is gonna roon you! Barely missed out on the Kraken, someone else got the last hit in before my torps could finish the KGV. But still, showed those ships how a real cruiser fights. You see a Roon with Ocean Soul camouflage, you know he ain't afraid of anything!
  23. @MrFingers snuck up on my poor Akizuki. Sadly my game crashed on the result screens so I couldn't give him a compliment.

    WoWS coming to Steam

Same here. Random Youtube notification (sometimes Google gets it right) brought me to Jingles' channel and I stuck around because I found his videos entertaining. Never quite got interested into WoT, but the WoWs videos he put up looked like something neat and I eventually decided to give the game a go after watching a couple of his videos (and subsequently stopped watching his WoWs content, I presume the only reason I can enjoy his WoT vids is because I'm still uninitiated to the finer details (i.e.: I can't tell nonsense from the rest)).

Save USS Texas with Project VALOR

Even as someone with no real investment with the USS Texas and quite possibly never having the chance to visit the ship, I wouldn't mind buying a small bundle or whatnot if all of that it goes towards preservation efforts. Besides, the ship being present as a premium for all servers and not just the US one it would make little sense to limit the effort to just the NA server unless some BS laws are messing with the other regions.
