I like this new patch so much

Nah boy, you need one of them BK 0010-01 babies. That's the PC this game is truly optimized for. Besides a good old CRT can easily keep pace with your government-sanctioned 80 fps (overclockable up to 88, if you get past 89, the Politburo will have your capitalist arse!).
  2. If you could either remove or relocate the "upcoming events" header in the forum overview pages, that'd be nice. As it stands right now, it squeezes the overall layout of the forum into what looks like a mobile webpage or something like that. Just looks wrong ... @Kandly, @Tuccy, @MrConway ... if anyone could perhaps forward that to the team for the webdesign so they can adjust the whole thing, that would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. Playing the Devil's Advocate: Probably because the changes didn't really change the de facto optimum captain builds. Or at least that's the most reasonable argument I can think off if I were in WG's shoes and didn't want to give out a free respec. I would personally prefer free respecs (for captains and ship upgrades both) with each major balance change, but alas WG thinks differently and in this particular case I don't see why a free respec would be necessary. Then again I'm not a CV expert, but as far as I could tell, the proven CV captain builds have not been effected in a meaningful way (as in no common skill picks were suddenly invalidated or other skills became must-haves).
  4. If any DD gets close enough to be in your secondary range, you're probably screwed anyway ... and any DD captain with a working brain should realize to get out of your limited secondary range after taking some damage (then again, knowing the average random, assuming a working brain is a bit optimistic). I'd drop the manual secondary and the fiery takeoff (or however that one's called) skills. You can elect between manual AA (more DP gun dps) or Superintendent (additional DFAA consumable) for your personal flavour of anti-snipe AA. Torpedo Armament Expertise is also a must for faster torpedo bomber cycling. You could also spec into Torpedo Acceleration if you want to use the captain for later when the US CVs get a second TB squadron (or simply for consistency's sake so you don't have different torpedo speeds/arm-delays on different CVs). Your build can probably surprise a couple randoms, but against a more competent player that knows the secondary range, the manual secondary skill is entirely wasted. And that fiery takeoff skill is also hardly worth it. If you're being set on fire and your DCP is on cooldown, launching aircraft is almost assuredly the least of your problems and anything that helps not letting the enemy get too close to set fires in the first place is much, MUCH better served.
  5. Just cruiser things, kiting half the enemy team, trying to cover friendly ships from the Essex and tanking for those squishy BBs ...
  6. Perfect time to break out the Mikasa! And now that I actually read through the response ... ninja'd

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

Don't think we ever stopped recruiting, just for some reason people tend to shy away from us ... no idea why. Contact either BadGene, Loran or Blogis for details. As for the TS, I think most people have ventured towards our own TS server on Loran's Raspberry, or the Discord (at least those for whom Discord works). In other news: RADIO SCRUB!!!

Will BBs still be viable after 6.14 is out?

It's a euphemism. It means the person playing appears to have the cognitive ability of a vegetable. Pretty common term among the forumites (you may also see the term tomato, referring to the red colour of their stats on popular statchecker websites). Though for bad battleship players in particular the term BBaby was coined by the fanbase.
  9. Still (reluctantly) grinding the Monarch: Dear Lord that ship is crap. Probably designed to be the free XP sink of the linem because stock this thing is almost unbearably bad ... barely any HP for a BB, 21 seconds ruddershift, only 16,5km range, eh AP due to the comparatively low caliber (reasonably accurate most of the time at least) and the HE nowhere near as good as on the tier VII KGV. Ship almost made me stop my RN BB grind because I refuse to sink free XP just to make a ship borderline playable. Of course it doesn't help that out of all the games I had in my Monarch, with the exception of exactly ONE game (!!!) every other time I took this ship out of port I ended up in tier X games. And no, I'm not exxagerating, I literally only ever had one game where I wasn't bottom tier. Guess how fun this ship is to play in its stock version when some tier X cruisers have as much if not more health than you, almost all of them have as much or more range than you and you can't even attempt to do much evasion tanking because this ship doesn't turn at all (seriously, it doesn't, any movement is just plate tectonics!). I had originally intended to get the hull upgrade first for that measly bit more range and the much needed ruddershift decrease (also better AA, but with so few CVs around that's hardly a priority), but ultimately I decided that having less range than most of the cruisers I keep facing in this ship is far more crippling. And naturally as soon as you get a halfway decent game, people start getting salty at you for shooting HE (again, in a tier X game) instead of facing a Großer Kurfüst in a fair and square mano a mano ... *sigh* Also, somehow the Conqueror on our team ended up second to last. No idea how he managed that when me in a mostly stock Monarch got first place on the teamscore.

Welcome again to Radio Scrub. Don't touch that dial (seriously, don't or else you'll get kicked out of the clan, I have powerful fiends!) as we offer you the best in musical Youtube recommendations again! *Believe it or not, this is actually the best version of that song I could find on Youtube that wasn't Nightcore crap or an AMV ... ignore the headbanger, or even better, don't! Something soothing for the end.
  11. Yeah ... and then his wreck apparently forgot to sink and stopped my Khaba dead in the water, neatly broadside in front of said Minotaur ... not even the courtesy of a collision warning, just one moment you do 47 knots, the next moment you're stationary, looking down 10 barrels. That game was so disastrously bad it was funny again.

"Potatoes" is the plural form of "potato".

    Submarine tease?

Eh, at this point I don't think WG's words hold up much. I mean they also said they were going to do something about the BB overpopulation a couple months ago ... or let's not forget the "year of the CV".

You're assuming those maxrange sniping border huggers actually understand the concept of diminishing returns ... Oh no, they will not get closer to the action even if they keep missing everything (let's be honest here, the vast majority of potatoes that play like that barely hit stuff to begin with and still aren't figuring out that getting closer makes things easier to hit). They will keep sailing around at maximum range, furthest away from any inkling of actual opposition. Some if not most will even cite the no longer existant repair-costs as their reason, because they're the kind of stupid breed that doesn't even pay attention to patches changing the core game economy mechanics. The simple matter of fact is that potatoes are potatoes because they stubbornly refuse to learn. Not even learn slowly, just flat-out refuse to drop gameplay behaviour that's evidently not working. They are convinced their way of playing is the correct way (showing broadside because "crossing muh T") and that there's nothing they can or even should change. They're the pros, they know how this goes and any other players telling them they're not doing it right have no clue what they're talking about. Those people don't learn. Ever. The only thing you can do to get rid of them is make their chosen style of gameplay mechanically impossible. But since doing such would negatively impact the overall game balance or otherwise unduly effect the gameplay of players who're actually playing the ships as they were designed to, WG can't do that. So really the only effective way to get rid of such idiots would be to simply manually ban them from the game on account of simply being too bad. But again, WG won't do this, for understandable reasons (hard to argue in favour of banning someone just because they suck at the game and tough, especially if they bought paid content like premium or ships) nevermind their business interest (idiots might still buy stuff after all).

Pfft, just play like all those BBabies and be as far away from the objectives as your BB range allows and you'll never have to fear any DW torpedoes because all the competent PA DD captains will be playing the objectives and murdering cruisers who try to do their job ... and who cares about incompetent PA DD captains, they'll probably try to point-blank torpedo an IJN DD they ran across instead of using their guns, then die either to the other DD's torps or get gunned down by an IJN DD who remembered he has guns. Then proceed to whine on the forum about how their torps are broken, how the other DD captain was cheating and how IJN DD guns need to be nerfed. The usual ... I can help:
  17. UI bug. If i were to venture a guess, you played the Nürnberg prior to that game in your Indianapolis (or had been checking it out right before the match, who knows what exactly triggers that bug), because those gun stats (1700 HE alpha, 3900 AP alpha, 6,3 seconds reload and 16,5km range) are from the Nürnberg though I'd have to ask why you'd use the Main Battery Modification to increase the turret traverse at the expense of 5% rate of fire (which explains the 0.3 seconds deviation from the standard 6 second reload on the Nürnberg). Pay it no heed, your guns are still performing as they should, it's just the game UI being drunk on vodka and thinking you're in a different ship.
  18. There is no escape from the potatoes: Uncarryable team. They all lemmingtrain toone side of the map and despite local numerical superiourity on their side just [edited] around doing effectively nothing all game long. Yamato on our team was never closer than 20km to the nearest enemy until late in the game when he literally ran out of map. Meanwhile I'm busy blunting the push of half the enemy team basically by my own. But what can you do alone amongst a herd of sheep? I give WG a lot of flak for their boneheaded decisions regarding game design, balance and the abysmal game stability, but the single most downturning aspect of this games has to be the sheer stupidity of the average player. The standard of gameplay is dropping like a stone ever since the german BB line got introduced (presumably because all the potatoes flocked to the uncitadellable BBs) and the current RN BB release certainly didn't help. The teams I'm getting are getting progressively worse. And not just outliers every now and then ... I'm getting teams filled with players who evidently can't tell their head from their arse based on their playstyle. I used to love playing this game, because it was fun. Until recently, I kept playing the game because it was fun whenever you didn't get a bunch of potatoes throwing games and even if it was bad, I played at least enough to get all daily containers. Now? Now I simply can't be bothered anymore. This game is no more fun. I'm not playing with my teams anymore, I'm playing against my teams, desperately trying to keep one stept ahead of their constant efforts to lose the match ... I simply no longer have the confidence in the playerbase to persevere through a drought of good games. There's no more "it's just bad luck with teams, I'll get a better team next game", there are no better teams. It just gets worse. I really don't know how long I'm willing to take this. I like to think I'm a very, very patient man. A bit temperamental in the heat of moments but ultimately gifted with an astounding reserve of patience. Bit if this keeps on going like it does, that patience will run out sooner rather than later. And quite frankly, I don't that to happen. At its core this is still a nice game. One of its own kind (a fact that probably did more keeping me with this game than WG's string of decisions throughout this year, there's simply no competition that offers the same kind of gameplay experience). I'd hate the moment I feel like I just step away from this game, because I've sunk plenty time and a surprising amount of money into a F2P game. I've had a lot of fun. Still have a lot of fun in the rare moments when I don't want to bang my head against a wall. I know this little call of desperation will reach no one who could do a thing, but I just needed to vent that frustration ... no, that resignation ... before it takes hold and I just unceremoniously quit. My condolences to whomever read through all that. Now, onto playing games that are actually fun. Maybe I'll see you guys tomorrow.
  19. If they play as usual, no harm done. Might in fact be a temporary relief for the randoms since those clan members are more like to focus their clan mates on the enemy side first (for good AND petty reasons). If they relay informations from each others' teams or ignore one another to farm randoms, then they're just being cheating scum, but that has little to do with the clantags. And even without being in a clan they can do just the same, so why would clans in particular need be adressed if it won't change anything? Scumbags will still be able to snyc-queue in non-clan divisions to cheat, whilst making a change to clan MM in random battles is just going to create a negative stigma to clans. Much, MUCH more important change to MM that must happen ASAP is as you mentioned an algorith that equalizes the number of radar ships per teams. Sick and tired seeing MM where one team gets three radar ships and the other gets none.

    Game Choice, Planes, Invisibility, Historicity

OP, we've been through this ... it's a game. And not a simulator at that. And #4 is complete horse crap. Learn to aim.
  22. Hindenburg keeps delivering: Could've been a Kraken if the Donskoy on my team didn't sneak the last shell into the Taiho. Speaking of which, the trend continues ... somehow I think everyone expects the german cruisers to use the hydro (despite the fact it has been insanely devalued with the recent smoke detection changes, only good for spotting torps early now and I'm confident enough in my torpedobeats that I don't need that 99% of the time, so DFAA it is) so they keep happily sending airplanes near my Hindenburg. Well, typically not more than once, but if you rush the CV down, they don't have much choice, much to the rejoice of my AA gunners Also funny how people think it's a good idea to show broadside to a Hindenburg in a (stock) New Orleans, and when they get (predictably) nuked, then complain about it as if it was my fault he got sunk. I'd even assume he was ranting about me specifically and not just the brutal MM (in his case), because I reported in that game otherwise, the playerbase seems to be progressively worse and by now I simply don't want to slug through that cesspool of incompetence just to get enough games in on a day to get all daily containers. Besides I got myself "The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel" and "NieR: Automata" from the Steam sale so I've got games to play that I can unconditionally enjoy without wanting to bang my head against a wall whenever I see the newest cunning plan from some random.

French T10 Battleship finally revealed :)

Only 2x4 guns in 431 caliber ... and not even all guns up front. How is this ship supposed to be competitive with the other tier X BBs? Least amount of guns (tied with 457mm Conqueror, but no one uses that setup, for good reasons), and no fancy overmatch threshold like the Yamato, plus horrible turret placement (even if the rear turret has obscenely good firing angles it's still meh). I'm all up for not powercreeping every new ship line, but they should at the very least offer a competitive flavour and just looking at those stats ... uninteresting at best.
  24. Can I petition WG to use their A.I. to neural train randoms? Please?
