I would staunchly disagree with that unless you specifically mean forum users with 10 or less posts total (which may make up a majority of the total user numbers compared to the numbers of active users, because the latter tends to behave like the complete opposite of what you wrote).

So, there was a Nicholas, in his smoke next to an island. I proximity spot him. He's still in his smoke so one else could POSSIBLY spot him. Following me so far? So, whilst I have that guy spotted, a friendly Giulio Cesare blaps the guy for ~6k damage. But for some unfathomable reason, I saw this after the game: Damage upon my spotting: 3427 Now, since Support had me jumpring through hoops before they asked for in-depth data analysis I had to reinstall the game and I haven't changed my .ini again to record replays so I can't show with definite evidence how much damage that Cesare did to the enemy Nicholas upon my spotting, but was certainly more than 3427 damage.

One one hand, I get where you come from and it has been a petpeeve of mine (and several of my clanmates) for essentially ever since they introduced those teamplay rewards into the game. On the other hand, if the system where to not accurately track those stats and assuming WG actually wants to reward players for spotting, tanking etc. ... a failure of the tracking system could go a long way explaining why the rewards feel underwhelming to the point of nonexistant. At this point, the question would be if WG is aware of that issue ... maybe @Sub_Octavian could weigh in with a word or two (sadly I can't provide a replay for more accurate data but perhaps others could find some hard data to work with).

Why Atlanta? -
Hmm ... one one hand I can completely see where you come from. My experience with randoms aligns rather smoothly in that I'd say the standard of gameplay overall is decreasing. I will also readily put some blame for that at WG's feet, with their failure to provide reasonably in-depth tutorials for people to learn by AND not providing sufficient motivation for people to even go looking for the existing tutorials (which whilst subpar are at the very better than nothing). At the very least for newcomers to the game, WG imo ought to be a lot more proactive in giving a leading hand to show players the ropes past the bare minimum of how to move a ship and shoot the guns. WG is also to blame for making several VERY important details about some game mechanics practically impossible to find unless you're specifically looking for them and even then, not too far back some of those still had to be datamined from third parties (such as the actual armour models on ships prior to their inclusion in the port stats). Now, the other part is the players' failure to learn or lack of trying to learn. Potatoes gonna potate precisely because they have no intention of changing their M.O. ... they somehow think they do everything right, everyone else does everything wrong and the game not showering them with rewards is a malfunction. They also tend to barely if ever visit this very forum and when they do mostly just to whine about how the game isn't working and how fires can't melt steel armour or whatever inane drivel their deluded minds concocted. WG can't be held accountable for the latter, but I'm certain the average level of gameplay would increase a noticable degree if WG put more effort into providing a learning experience or downright sabotage player progress by withholding crucial informations (overmatch mechanic says hi). Even among the below average skillset players, many could improve if WG just went up and showed them how to ... just because they aren't actively looking to learn doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't if they were proactively handed an opportunity. And the options are there. WG bothered to implement an internal marketing tool with the personal offers, quite possibly backed by an analytic tool that monitors spending habits. WG could just as well implement a tool that suggests a range of tutorials based on player performance tracking. WG really should consider changing their stance ... and start by permanently terminated that guy's WG accounts with extreme prejudice. Give that man exactly what he demands and make everyone happy!

First game I had today. Orion may be the most overpowered ship at tier IV, but the little Tsar still got it. No idea why that Danae thought it'd be a good idea to stop and reverse fully broadside 6km away from my Nikolai. -
[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Aotearas replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
I have little idea exactly how it plays, though if it's an RTS I should find myself at home pretty fast considering I am/was a CnC veteran (and F U EA for killing that franchise, I was there, alpha-testing your newest CnC when you dropped that BS marketing nuke on that beloved franchise, all of my hate!). Besides I've read a lot of positive stuff about the game, but wasn't really interested enough to buy it. But hey, for free ... I'll take it no questions asked. Doubly so if I can play with or against other Scrubs (considering I'm not really into those grand strategy games that you lot tend to play so far). So guys, as long as their Steam key contigent lasts or at the very most you still have more or less exactly 24 hours to grab yourself "Company of Heroes 2" for free. In other news, "Ookami HD" released on Steam some days ago. It's however a flat-out prot of the PS3 HD version, which means still locked at 30fps, just in case anyone thinks that's particularily important (can't say it should be, game is reportedly running those 30fps rockstable and I played the Wii version of it which was also capped at 30 fps and I f*cking loved it!). If you're even remotely interested in action-adventure games, closest comparision would be "The Legend of Zelda" (and this game is in no way inferiour quality at it either, it's f*cking brilliant!), do keep that eye open!- 3,079 replies

Checked ingame, but apparently the 360 days is only discounted by ~18%. That 51% discount only goes for the bloated premium shop bundle and no, those signal flags aren't free extras. I don't know if the standard 360 days premium pricing in WoWs is different from WoT from the top of my head (I seriously doubt that as the pricing is indentical in WoT and WoWp and converting the standard doubloon equivalent value seen ingame would come up to ~80€ which is the same as WoT's and WoWp's non-discounted 360 premium pricetag). So out of those ~138€ non-discount pricetag, roughly 70€ are those flags (bonus alright ...). If we'd compare the bundle price with the (I'd assume) normal 360 days premium pricing and exclude the flags (since they're advertised as bonus anyway), then coming from 80,39€ to 67,99€ is *drumroll* ~18% discount which coincidentally is the same discount applied for the ingame purchase via doubloons. Another one of WG's ludicriously bloated bundles with a deceivingly big discount number tagged on. Nice try WG ...

It's not about knowing to angle. It's about knowing how to angle the ship differently. Izumo and Yamato are de facto the only remaining hightier BBs that can be citadeled reliably (everyone else either gets turtleback or low citadels which makes citadels against them rare) and those two's citadel armour shapes are different (Yamato's octagonal protection much more pronounced than the Izumo's) which makes them much more susceptible to citadel penetrations at angles you wouldn't expect. Against AP shells that can't overmatch your bow it makes little difference tanking bow-on (duh) but as soon as you face a Yamato that can overmatch your bow, the standard of showing some more cheeks to is detrimental. In other BBs that means you angle the flat athwart ship armour, but in the Izumo and Yamato whose's citadel protection is shaped by default, it means you're actually softening the angle. That said, Izumo is still a very solid BB. The gun ballistics are amazing (the shell velocity in particular is a nasty surprise to your enemies). Yes she's been powercreeped, but if that's a concern, then I have bad news regarding that Yamato.
-
Much of the Izumo's bad reputation comes from when she still had her old stock hull which came with incredibly bad AP shells. Current Izumo isn't exactly the strongest of the tier IX BBs, but certainly not the worst depending on what you value (her guns for example perform so much better than those of the FdG) and is more than sufficient enough at her tier. Plus her armour compared with the awkward third turret firing angle teaches you how to angle and tank in the Yamato.
-
I was giving my opinion on something that would make BB gameplay more exciting and encourage aggressive play without simply giving them tools which are designed and balanced for other ship classes. I was pointedly NOT discussing BB balancing as a whole and this is hardly the topic for me to list my various gripes with the current BB situation.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Aotearas replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
A little heads-up for all strategy fans amongst us Scrubs: You can get the game "Company of Heroes 2" for free (base game without DLC expansions, Steam version) for a very limited period of time over at the Humble Bundle store (Humble Bundle website account required for check-out). However you have to act fast, the promotion ends (as of time writing this) in little over 43 hours, the game is only for free within that timeframe and unless I read the fineprint wrong, they might have a limited contingent of keys that might run out even sooner than that, so get it at your earliest convenience if you want it! Here's the link to the store page in question! If you want to know more, I'd suggest asking @Reaper_JackGBR, because according to my Steam, he has the game.- 3,079 replies

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Aotearas replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Ran into @bbowWow in his Gadjah Mada as I was playing my Jian Whatever (PA DD tier V). I tried to maintain my trackrecord of ruining his games, but this time my team was uncarryable though at least I still sunk him, which I suppose is the next best thing. We really tend to run into another. Are you stalking me? -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Lost four karma today. I know some potatoes get really salty over getting outplayed, but apparently teammates now also get triggerhappy when you do the smart stuff and tell them (without swearing or the likes) why a particular strategy is a bad idea and the advantages of the alternative strategy. Still they do their own thing and sink fruitlessly, whereas our division does our thing and wins the game -> instant report. How dare I play intelligently!? Funny thing is seeing a Rank 1 player (Typhoon league clan to boot) lose their proverbial sh*t because I dare not submit to his "left side" strategy. Last time I checked, lemming trains aren't exactly a winning strategy with Randoms in Domination matches. So I don't go there and this guy starts going absolutely mental. But guess what, I get the cap, I turn back, get the OTHER cap too, kill two DDs, we win and I end up in the top three on the teamlist, but I still lose karma for some unfathomable reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyhoot, some neat games: Khaba doing Khaba stuff. Also a match where I once again explained why C cap is a bad opening move and why B is not only more valuable, but given our team composition with radar advantage relatively safe to approach and cap. Pretty sure I know why I got reported in this game. Teamchat said B+C (we had the south spawn). So I politely explained why C is bad (too easy to get trapped in, no islands to cover a turnaround), why A is much better from the south spawn (convenient island to hide behing in the cap or use as cover to get out without getting nuked). So naturally half the team gets up to C and dies. Meanwhile we leisurely cap A, deal with the enemy ships that tried A (which is equally bad from the north spawn as is C from the south spawn ... no idea why people can't understand that, just one glance at the map layout should make that bleedinly obvious!), then we capture B (since the rest of the team is busy dying around C), deal with the rest of the enemy fleet, win -> instant report. This playerbase, man. Not only does the average random seem to have little idea on how to play the game, apparently they're now also outright allergic to advice. Even supposedly good players can't seem to handle justified criticism. Just sad. -

What I personally would like to have explained to me is why Yuudachi is holding a bone. Also, as I don't play it I'm not particularily familiar with KanColle outside of the fanart, but I'm reasonably sure that's not your standard bucket either ... Also took me a second look to notice the Abyssals in the bottom left corner. Poor Airfield Princess. -

Welp, I just send WG that crash dump file they wanted. They expected a file size something like 300-900 MB ... what procdump spewed out was 2 GB. Barely fit into the basic/free Dropbox so I could share it with WG support since that would've NEVER fit with the attachment limitation without compressing that file to tiny bits (pun intended). Probably going to take a while for them to comb through that one and I couldn't honestly say there isn't a itsy-bitsy tiny bit Schadenfreude welling up inside as I image one or more WG developers looking at that file in dread.- 3,079 replies

Well, I can't deny that looks do play a part. I'm more of an essence than looks guy myself, but there's some ships that simply look bloody gorgeous: Warspite with it's squat design and that superstructure that looks like chiseled out of marble. Iowa/Missouri where you can tell jsut from looking at the ship that's she's fast. Yamato and Atago with their sleek flowing lines. The boxy look of german turrets and the industrial superstructure on their bigger ships bristling with secondaries which just taunts like "come and take a shot if you think you're hard enough". I'd also readily admit that I'd certainly be at least motivated to play more CVs if I could actually see them as I play because I overall really, REALLY like the looks of those ships in general. Or at the very least, I'd have some eyecandy to distract from the horrible gameplay issues.
