  1. I'd be okay if someone currently playing the Mahan manages to at least average the same or higher damage as is equal to his Mahan's HP pool. Just a relatively simple metric to ensure that players know how to pull their own weight. Plus it's not like the gating had to be purely absolute numbers. DDs with above average spotting and/or objective points (capping, decapping) for example could get a modifier that helps pull the average up if you do that well (or conversely decreases the value of raw damage if the player ignores all else). Would also help balance out the occasional horrible games (*cough*detonation from hull HP*cough*) that happen occasionally and drag the average stats down. Similar modifiers would also apply for other classes with different focal points (cruisers gets more points for dealing damage to enemy DDs and for shooting down aircraft, battleships get extra modifiers for tanking, carriers for spotting, etc. pp.). Just something, anything to curb the current ability for potatoes to perform absolutely horribly and still move up the tiers. Like repeating years in school. If you ain't got what it takes to move up to the next year, you repeat until you got it. I also wouldn't stop there, but apply a similar gating requirement to purchase premium ships, but that's another story.
  2. Could WG perhaps reduce the time those things show after you've gotten sunk? Because they take up a good portion of the center of one's camera view and they stay there blocking your view for a couple more seconds than is necessary to have a look at them.

    Sweet, so you just decided that I'm a hypocrite, eh? Welp, I suppose our little exchange has ended in an impasse then. We'll continue this discussion never.
  4. Read my comment again: in order to progress up the tier. You don't have to necessarily maintain the average. You just need to reach it to prove you're an asset playing that ship and not simply deadweight for your team. After you unlocked the ship, you can play it all you want, but in order to get the next tier in the line you gotta work for it instead of sinking your way up the tiers if you just play enough crappy games.

    It matters if the MM can't create a somewhat balanced playing field. 2x Harekaze + 1x Lo Yang vs 1x Maass and 1x Gadjah Mada is anything but balanced.

    Probably more an HE issue to begin with. I reckon any HE that can penetrate that 50mm barbette roof can disable the gun and with subsequent hits completely destroy it. And at tier VIII there's a couple ships that can easily penetrate 50mm or armour with HE (all BBs and all german CAs). And since BB players have found that shooting HE everywhere is fun, getting your turrets peppered with BB HE is hardly a rare occurance.
  12. First game I had today: Good start I say. A bit later I actually completed the Yamamoto collection: And finally a nice game against some forumites @Affeks and @hunterofjewels: The latter in particular tested my torpedobeating skills. Persistent little bugger he was! Hardfought victory for our team and for some time it looked like we would lose the game, but we pulled through.

    Sometimes three Scrubs just ain't enough to carry. I think we were down several hundred points and something like six ships of theirs versus just us three Scrubs. By the end of it the game clock saved the enemy Des Moines from being grinded down like his teammates. Everyone of our division had a Confederate. As you can see 10 kills between the three of us. @kk1604 has the replay of our gargantuan effort (he alone did 330k damage) and I told him to send that replay to Jingles so mayhaps we'll see some Scrub action soon. Was also my first ever game in the Zao, I like that ship

    Citadel penetration: 100% of listed damage Normal penetration: 33% of listed damage Overpenetration: 10% of listed damage 9678 damage is probably the same issue I once had and reported here. TO got hit by a single shell that detonated twice inside his ship and if I were to venture a guess then the only reason why that damage figure isn't exact 2 x 33% AP damage because that hit actually killed you, right? They are allegedly working to fix that issue.

    Izumo has pretty nasty ballistic properties for her mainguns (something which still seems much overlooked), with notably faster shell velocity that makes gunnery against the more nimble targets (cruisers and destroyers) much more effective. But that's about it.

    Every single armour-piercing shell ever since naval artillery had done away with solid shot has had a bursting charge. British SAP is no different in that regard. But high explosive fragmentation ammunition (given the splash damage effect for HE shells over AP shells I'm assuming they're fragmentation shells) was used for shore bombardment against soft targets.
