  1. So, this just got online on the portal: https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/common/vive-la-france-pt-1/ With the "Viva la france" collection, among other things like camouflages and signal flags, players can get randomly awarded a special mission to unlock the tier V, VI, VII or tier VIII french BBs. The ships will be fully researched and come with a 3 point captain and a port slot. WHY ON EARTH IS THIS A THING!? What happened to just playing the bloody game, starting at the low tiers and progressing up until you finally reached the tier X? Why do people have to start their grind as high up as tier VIII? Oh and of course you can increase your chances to get those unlock missions by throwing money at WG, because naturally they will be selling special collection containers in the premium shop.
  2. And there's the problem. The game is NOT realistic. It is NOT designed to be realistic. The fact that matches last for an absolute maximum of twenty minutes should've been enough of a clue that the gameplay isn't realistic, but apparently that's not enough. World of Warships is an arcade shooter, not a naval warfare simulator. If you absolutely MUST play historically accurate, find a simulator that's actually designed to reflect that. Don't do it in a game where it plainly isn't. Also please do something about that absurd willfull ignorance, because with that attitude you're nothing but a dead weight for every team that's unlucky enough to have you on their roster. Or let me rephrase that in a fashion that you're more likely to understand: does the name USS William D. Porter, DD-579 ring a bell? That's you. And your teams are the USS Iowa, BB-61, carrying the objective.

    Emblems and insignias huge success

Different development teams. Map design, etc. aren't the same people doing UI. And by all means, if a bored UI team was the reason we got that craptastic division chat window then I'm all in about keeping those guys busy with emblems and whatnot.
  4. Poll is biased, because "Nay" is an affirmative. And my answer is no. All I can see this leading to is people dropping everything just to killchase that Corgi account. Randoms are bad enough as is but with an event that promotes stupid behaviour like that, no thank you.
  5. Changes have been made. Problem is, WG can't fix stupid.

    Team Communication

Well, people are stupid. Some 49% potato was raging at me and reporting me for being a bot and "a stupid monkey" after he told me to cap C at the start of the match ... in my Khabarovsk. The C cap which was swarming with aircraft. The C cap which happened to attract half the enemy team as it turned out.
  7. I take it you don't get those containers for the live server though, right?
  8. Got my first early access mission from the two containers you get from the CB mission set, sadly it's just the Bretagne ...
  9. *sigh* Not much longer ... Soon™ I shall have put the Ranger grind behind me and when it's finally done no more Saipan 301 to contend with and finally the sweet, sweet AP DBs to remind all those german BBs that indeed they still have citadels. Of course no Clear Skies with 41 aircraft kills against a Hiryuu and I would've gotten the NC too if my team hadn't capped the enemy out. The latter was a kill I wanted on sheer principle alone, but alas ...

    Segal's departing

Just give us William Halsey Jr. as a CV themed unique captain already. Or for something more utilitarian there's a long list of famous USN fellows to pick from: Arleigh Burke, Raymond Spruance, Danial Callaghan ...
  11. Buff for Hipper and Prinz Eugen was needed, though I'm amazed WG changed their stance about that so abruptly since they've been convinced Hipper and Eugen had been doing perfectly fine up until now ... Is probably going to be a reload buff, though I wouldn't mind Eugen getting radar, she was known for its advanced FuMO 81 Berlin-S radar set in addition to its other radar equipment. As for the Cesare, ship needs a nerf, plain as day. Though WG will probably not do that, because: "it iz premium sheep, we no liek nurf premium sheep" so it'll likely just get pulled from the shop ... naturally after WG announced everywhere and was having a last sale to squeeze as many bucks out of people desperate for rare and OP ships as possible. And Shima buff ... please get rid of those stupidly useless 20km torpedoes first. just straight up delete them from the game, no player with half a brain will miss those anyway.

    Edited,dirty trick clan.

To be honest, anyone who can't even be arsed to write the nickname of whom they're accusating of things is just a sad, sad person and is probably in more urgent need of a hug than ridicule. Such poor luck for him that this is the internet and we don't know where he is so a hug is realistically out of question, hence ridicule it is.

Soo ... a little continuation from back then: Got spotted by enemy DD, took one volley of BB AP from a Missouri, he hits me with 4 shells (that godlike dispersion RNG) ... *blap* -> *ded*. Missouri AP does 13500 maximum damage, DDs don't have citadels (or so WG is telling us). So 4x(13500x0.33) would be 17820. Still plenty, but not enough to oneshot me. When is that supposed BB AP vs DD fix coming?

Wanna stay over for a quick coffee, tea and cake?
  15. Oh, I am soo glad that I won't have to grind my Ranger much longer and can finally get away from tier VII CV MM ... I keep getting seeded against Saipans all the damn time and half that time they're even running the 301 AS setup which is just absolutely annoying to play against in a 112 Ranger at the best of times. Can't wait for Lexington and AP DBs: *Saratoga is a Lexington-class after all

    Friendly fire defensive AA

Yeah, I don't think any such friendly AA fire would make any sort of sense for game design unless the entire AA systems get's redesigned from ground up to incorporate such a thing. CVs already have a hard enough time with defensive AA from enemy ships as it stands, adding friendly fire from allied ships' defensive AA to the mix and what reason would CVs have to even get close to allies if they have to fear for their squadrons just the same? Nope, nope, nope.

    [PT 0.7.2] Visual effects changes

I've had it a couple times when I had to hold my shot and wait for a couple seconds when a ship was under heavy fire to do minor aim adjustment, but I never found that was much of an inconvenience (and it was only in cases of ships in the process of turning out, people broadsiding where as easy to hit as ever). On the contrary, it's probably a small saving grace for a ship being focused and I have little doubt that I also benefited from those couple seconds here and there. Not sure if that is a necessary change, particularily because I quite like the visuals as they are right now.
  18. Do you use the Magazine modification upgrade?
  19. Yeah, that triple Des Moines push was nasty and your Shima was a real pain in the aft for @Loran_Battle in his Montana. We almost pulled it around again but the cap points ticked in your favour before we could pincer your sole survivor in the Shima (I hope at least that was you guys, otherwise I just got the wrong match in mind). We also ran into the [OSC] guys with @SexyCroat, @Troublemaker_CRO, @AmashPrevails and friends. They also gave us a tough time but we managed to outlast them. My poor Z-52 got a good beating though, dat Yue Yang Radar ... In both games the initial trashtalk was glorious!

Der @Borndl ist in seiner Izumo im selben Team wie mein Clanmate und mir gelandet. Hat offentsichtlich ordentlich was eingesteckt für seinen Dreadnought.
  22. Had @captain_clumsy in our team today, him playing the Atlanta. Was a rather one-sided affair. Sorry that I couldn't give you a compliment, but my game crashed upon end of the match so I couldn't even see how well you did. Must've had some good time though, because the enemy Lexington was quite enamoured with sending his planes over either his Atlanta or my Kutuzov and we both got our fair share of aircraft

    Overconfidence™ Mk.2

Even so the math he bases his theoretical non-penetrations of overmatching caliber shells on doesn't add up when compared to the reality ingame. According to his math, Yamato's 460mm shells shouldn't be able to penetrate 32mm of armour at extreme angles (like say perfectly bow-on battleships) unless it hit the exact tip of the bow at a sufficiently flat angle. But everyone who plays the Yamato (or has been on the recieving end, with the possible sole exception of wilkatis_LV as it seems) can readily testify that Yamato's 460mm AP does penetrate such a bow-on angling battleship noses. All the damn time. Certainly more reliably than you'd expect your shells to hit the bow-on battleship's perfectly on the small flat part of its nose. He's talking bollocks, simple as that. edit:// Ah, I see you edited your post, disregard me repeating my point then.

    Overconfidence™ Mk.2

There's only one small problem with that formula you're basing that number on: Using the same tool and taking your Amagi numbers as a guideline, if I check for the Yamato at 8km distance, I get a an impact angle of 84,78° (compared to the Amagi's 84,49°) and an armour penetration of 141,7mm (compared to the Amagi's 128,64mm). If I now take 32mm armour and were to calculate the effective armour thickness at an angle of 84,78° (as you did to get to the 197,88mm for the 19mm armour on a DD) I get an effective armour thickness of 351.72mm, which checked against the aforementioned penetration of 141,7mm at that range and impact angle shouldn't penetrate. Yet the Yamato undoubtedly does penetrate 32 bow armour regardless of what angle you hit it at. Do you see the problem with your math here?
