    You guys already have a recruitment thread for this sort of stuff. If you want to actively hunt for prospective recruits, then you can always scour the looking for clan subsection. But this is the wrong place for recruitment ...

    Questions about operations

    I haven't heard anything to the contrary, but it's probably a low priority. Afaik the hard-mode was originally slated to be something for full 7 player divisions They're reworking the operation, no ETA on a popssible return. Don't think a detailed official reason was given but considering how easy it was to farm that operation for lots of credits and XP it's probably (cynic) economic reasons. Iirc WG has toyed with the idea, but that's about it. Or at least that's all I ever heard from WG when I saw that question asked. Don't know, probably not since it was a tie-in with the then released Dunkirk movie. Might come back later, might not, only WG knows. Halloween events are probably going to stay an annual thing, simply because the gameplay elements introduced in them don't flow too well with the normal game. But last year WG reused and expanded on its previous Halloween event, so it might come back in some form of continuation if they feel like they can craft an ongoing narrative.

Atlanta time Let me sing you the song of my people: Asked Kamikaze if I could get a smoke into A at the start of the game, he affirmed, popped the smoke (teamwork in randoms, OMG) and we went to town. Just barely missed the Kraken, but I snagged a Double Strike as I nuked the enemy Mutsuki whilst the Yorck (which was reversing and trying to bow tank, kek) burned out from fires I set to it. I think I mentioned it before sometime, but I love this ship!!!

    *sigh* Oh noes, I can't seem to properly counterplay a specific gameplay tactic. OBVIOUSLY the game is doing something wrong ... I suggest you play a couple lines that rely on offensive smokes, like say the RN CLs or the lower tier US and RU DDs (where they can't conveniently torpedo from outside their detectability range and aren't yet fast enough and with enough range to be effective at kiting/evasion tanking). That ought to teach you how essential that mechanic is for some classes and it should also give you an insight on how to counter it, either by coming up with counters on your own after experiencing the limitations of that gamestyle or by copying what others (successfully) do in order to rout you out of smokes .
  6. So, the background story: I had gotten the Bretagne early access mission in a contain for the missions. So far, so good, played it a bit, got enough XP on it so I could instantly unlock the Normandie once 0.7.2 hits the server. I then used the ship XP to unlock the Normandie, bought it and started to retrain the captain for it. During that time I got the Normandie unlock mission from a "Gold of France" campaign container. Mkay, didn't know you could still get the missions after 0.7.2 at that time, but why not. Didn't play my Normadie since it was completely stock and the unlock missions also come with the fully unlocked ship. So, what I thought would happen: -I'd get the Normandie's credit value back since I had already had the ship in port. -All the ship modules would be become researched and bought. What actually happened: -Nothing. Didn't get any credits and the game still wants me to research the ship modules with XP same as before. Checked my notifications, no mention of a ship addition, credits or whatnot. Evidence of me having had the unlock mission (and completing it): Screenshot of the ship in port (still stock, with modules to be researched as usual with XP): Just to make sure I restarted the game to check if it's just the UI not having updated after I finished the quest, but no difference. Now as to my question: is this a bug? Are we not supposed to get missions anymore and that's why they're not giving the proper rewards? Or does having unlocked the ship prior somehow skewed up the system when I should have gotten the proper rewards (fully unlocked ship)? I didn't expect the missions to still drop after the official release of the french BBs and I haven't read anything about it on the news portal. The old news about the Viva-la-france missions still states that the ships unlocked through those container drop missions ought to come fully researched and all modules bought, but that's evidently not the case here. It's obvious something is wrong here, I'm just not quite sure how. @MrConway, @Tuccy, @Kandly, @Crysantos, can you perhaps bring some light into this? Anyone else got a mission drop after 0.7.2 that could either confirm what I got here?
  7. RPF/RL/KI is soooo filthy: B cap gets blocked, I dump a spread towards where RPF is pointing, wait -> *KABLOOEY* ... scratch one enemy Yugumo (poor sod ended up with a zero XP game). Guess that impressed my team, because they felt plenty confident in leaving me completely alone in B, meaning I also had to gunfight the enemy Shimakaze that was still in the cap and try to contest the cap against an Alsace and a Kurfürst. Ended up not being able to cap at all, but still singlehandedly held the center of the map. Almost done with the Yugumo, but for as long as the Shimakaze still gets the 20km as stock torps I won't bother buying it because I refuse to play with those lame torps and I don't want to waste free XP for it. Besides I'm actually having a good deal of fun with the Yugumo. Then I decided to bring out my Kamikaze and have some fun with those hundreds of BBs in the queue: Even at tier VII, sailing in straight lines for days. I mean they MUST've realized at least by the time the first BB got nuked that the only DD they had to face was on their flank. You think they'd stop sailing straight lines? Naw ... Only reason I couldn't farm them even harder was one Emerald that kept getting in the way of good topedo angles and for some unfathomable reason despite me terrorizing the enemy BBs, my allies on the lank refused to actually push. They were all huddled up behind the island a good 10km behind me as I was gleefully circling, dropping torps left and right. Just one of them pushing up a little bit and getting rid of the Emerald and oh boy I would've fallen upon those BBs like the wrath of God! Moreso than I already did I mean And lastly, a game with friends: I make no apologies for playing DDs. Though some dude on our team got salty AF, don't know if it was directed at us or the enemy DDs, but this guy was absolutely livid. Nothing special much about the game, our division mopped the floor with the enemy team and I got a neat score in the end.
  8. It would help if WG would add some additional MM scenarios to help with congestion each time you implement a new ship line. As you did note, this kind of rush hour is completely predictable and has happened every time a new line got introduced. By now there should be some ideas floating around how to help the MM along. Like the aforementioned 12 vs 12 BB matches if there's too many BBs in queue after releasing a BB line.
  9. Welp, I suppose the lesson learned from this is don't grind any french BB for which you didn't get and completed the unlock mission yet. Gotcha.
  10. Oh yeah, let's just put 6-7 BBs per team. I'm sure the cruiser players are going to love that ... 5 BBs per team as it's right now is clearly not annoying enough already. How about MM simply seeds the BB overflow into 12 BB vs 12 BB matches? Should help clear the queue pretty fast.
  11. Bumping because I'd really like to have an explanation here. How come that the ship unlocked by the quest comes fully researched with all modules, but if you bought it beforehand you still have to grind through all modules like usual despite having completed the unlock mission? @MrConway, @Tuccy, @Kandly, @Crysantos

  13. Okay, what the sh*t?! Now I really feel robbed. So because I unlocked and bought the ship before RNG decided to drop the unlock mission for a ship I already had and I don't even get the modules unlocked for free but am forced to grind through the stock ship. Not only doesn't that unlock mission check if I had already unlocked the bloody same ship, it essentially flips you the bird for unlocking the ship the normal way. What gives? That HAS to be a bug! @MrConway, @Tuccy, @Kandly, @Crysantos explanation needed.

    You know, if you want it hard enough I'm sure you could find a mod that brings back your dear Seagull. I for one couldn't be any happier that he's gone. Never used the captain because I just couldn't stand the atrocious voice-acting, so the improved captain skills collected dust, but now I can finally start using and levelling that captain without having my ears bleed. In the meantime I recommend you to read up a bit on licensing ...
  16. God, I love this firehose!!! Playing Atlanta be like: Even got to put the cherry on top and sink the enemy air-superiourity Saipan for a Double Strike after I had finished off the Aoba. Our own Saipan played this very well though and consistently outstrafed the enemy Saipan. Didn't even get to shoot down many aircraft because he manhandled that guy so hard, so that was a compliment I had to give him. Also that game completed the 19th skill point for my Cleveland/Atlanta captain. Can't wait for the US cruiser line split and put that captain (CE, AFT and IFHE) to good use on it. Plus I won't say no to 1kk credits Atlanta is still easily the most fun ship I've played.

  18. Follow-up question: If we don't have the ship already researched and bought, do we still get the ship just stock, or would we be getting the fully researched ship then?
  19. Please do, maybe someone just slipped when transitioning the pseudo-premium status with the patch. If the missions are supposed to still grant fully researched ships, then obviously something is wrong.
  20. So the quests no longer grant fully researched/bought ships. Might want to update the old news article (or make a new one to clarify), because the last information I saw on those quests (Viva-la-France Part 1) is still clearly stating you get fully upgraded ships and the patchnotes for 0.7.2 didn't say anything about those unlock missions only granting stock ships. I don't particularily care for the credits, the portslot or the captain as I'm not really in short supply (and support should be plenty busy trying to find out what's causing my constant CTDs), but I hope you can understand why I felt pretty disappointed after I got my hopes up that I can skip the stock grind, only to find out WG changed the mission rewards without telling.

    Bad teams: what do you do about them?

    Had a Benson on our team today who just sailed around the mapborder and ultimately just hid at J10 in the corner of the map (it was the corner southwest of the enemy spawn btw, since our team had the north spawn on Haven). He ended up the game with ~350 base XP despite the fact that aside from spotting a couple ships he contributed exactly nothing to the victory. Welp, lots of reports from our team for him and more caps for my Chung Mu, sucker.
