Well, more than half your damage was done to BBs. If you want more XP (and wins), you should start to damage the ships that actually matter. I also had a bit of a downer today. In general I had absolutely terrible luck with teams the whole day. Actually took a break from playing WoWs because it got so frustrating and after one and a half hours came back just to get the last couple XP for the final daily container. Turns out that last game was just as cursed with potato teammates like the matches beforehand: Game actually started rather promising. Sensible strategic comments at the start, and upon asking for cruiser support in B (I spawned more or less on my own with the rest equally divided on the flanks ... weird spawn) the Fiji responded to my bid and went to help. But somehow the people going for A just crumbled, the people at C dragged their feet and it just went downhill from there, despite me and the Fiji comprehensively dominating the entire mid for three quarters of the match. By the end of it, I even had to engage an almost full HP Z-46 after finishing off the New Orleans, at which point I only had ~4.000 HP left ... on my Yugumo ... in a 1vs1. Killed the Z-46, but his last shells managed to hit and sink me (good trade all in all, though I would've preferred not sinking and it was sooooooo close). What was left was our Ranger (and he did try, but only so much you can do when what's left is ships like an Iowa, a Richelieu, etc.) and a, you know it, full HP Z-23, who apparently had no idea he actually had guns and that he ought to use them against either the low HP Richelieu (~14k HP left) or severely damaged Iowa (~22k HP left). Instead he smoked, ran away and after I told him in chat he has those weird things that make pew pew when you click on the left mousebutton fired ... randomly into nothing, because he couldn't see squat since he had smoked between himself and the two BBs. We lost with a handful difference in points after time-out. Had to compliment the Fiji and Ranger, they tried but with the rest of the team apparently throwing it, it wasn't enough.

Met @Drake847 in his Shimakaze on our team today. Sadly we were cursed with campy BBs circling in our spawn rather than doing anything useful so we lost resoundedly. Bloody Conqueror still on full HP ten minutes into the game ... -
Unsurprisingly we couldn't contest the caps effectively against three radar cruisers. I still managed to nuke the Donskoy and get the B cap back, but our DDs (including me) having to try and stay clear of three radar ships gave the enemy team too much of an initial caps advantage to turn around. MM needs to be tweaked so that one team won't get all the radar ships whilst the other team gets none. Inb4 people saying radar ships make no difference ...

More Yugumo ... having lots of fun in this ship. Kraken and lotsa salt from the enemy team for me. Also remarkably good teamplay with the Yue Yang. Not sure if that was just freakishly good luck and incidental or if the Yue Yang actually timed his smokes in relation to mine, but we had an amazing smoke and torpedo cycling routine going on throughout the entire game, one is spotting, the other gunning from smoke and vice versa. Popped a smoke for him when he got focused and later on when I ended up getting a fair bit of attraction (I think the salt levels were already reaching critical mass at that point) and I had to boogey out it just so happens that the Yue Yang was right behind me with a smoke I could dive into to get undetected. The flow and synergy was no worse than what I'd expect when I were on voice-comms with a clanmate and out support game was on bloody point ... it was THAT good. Dropped him/her a compliment. -
Seydlitz in the originally concepted 4x3 150mm gun configuration would be a nice template for a premium ship. Could work at tier VII and at tier VIII depending on the other stats of the ship.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Accidental torp kills are the best torp kills. Not much of an exciting game due to the heavy presence of enemy ships near B forcing me to play it very passively or risk getting my nose punched in. First half of the game was more or less just me blocking the cap and going fishing with RPF, but nothing was biting. Later though the Kagero overextended and had to bail, so the cap was finally mine. I made myself comfortable, but that Donskoy was a bit too close for my tastes, playing peek-a-boo around the island next to B. So I dumped my torpedoes into the gap. If the Donskoy edged out again, he'd take one or two, or I'd force him away entirely ... that was the plan. A couple seconds after I launched my torps an enemy Iowa, full HP, gets spotted heading for the gap. A couple seconds later still and she eats five of my torps -> *boop*. Not what I was gunning for, but eh ... I'll take it. Erm, I mean I totally planned to do that. All part of my master plan, yes! -
Emerald isn't that bad. Imho it's actually a great improvement over the Danae (which I consider the worst of the RN CL line). At least Emerald has smoke. The things that are the real shockers and what I suspect most players have problems with is the positioning and the harsh MM. Emerald has below average range for its tier and is just as squishy as the previous RN CLs (even DDs will gleefully load the AP to citadel an Emerald). The smoke is supposed to allow people to play around that range limitation and vulnerability, but the problem is getting into a position where you can make good use of your guns despite the poor range ... and not trading a crapton of HP trying to get into that position. And then there's the double whammy MM. Tier V loses the protected MM and also happens to be uptiered against tier VI and VII ships a lot and going from tier V to VI there's quite a significant powerjump for cruisers, battleships and aircraft carriers. All of which can stomp a spotted Emerald with contemptous ease if they know halfway what they're doing. RN CLs aren't easy to make sing though if one doesn't know where to put oneself. It's in the OP's best interest to start a more beginner-friendly line to get a good idea of the maps, where to be (and more importantly: where not to be), when to be there and how to get the hell out of dodge once the enemy team comes gunning for you in force. US cruisers are a pretty good learning experience along with the IJN cruisers. US cruisers are also going to split sometime in the near future from tier VI onwards, so that's another good reason to learn with those. Also, mandatory advice: Play all ship classes to at least tier VI to get an idea of how they play, what their limitations are and how players using them think. The experience is invaluable in judging the flow of a match and anticipating enemy actions so you can counter them.

Naw, the original figure given was that tier VIII ships get seeded into MM as toptiers 55% of the time. That was however a hilariously unfiltered statistic and a bit later they gave the specific stats for the EU server, which ended up tier VIII ships getting seeded as toptier only 34% of the time (and bottom, tier ~40% of the time, presumably because tier X is more popular on the EU server).

I go for concealment mod on everything. TAM proximity spotting bonus is way too circumstancial to be of much use and the torpedo spotting bonus isn't like to help much against torps that I haven't already been evading with the sporadic use of WASD hacks. Compared to that, the additional concealment lets me engage better on my terms, disengage when it gets too hot or overall is just too valuable not to use for some ships (DDs for example, duh). Plus the 5% max dispersion penalty bonus that kicks in every time someone shoots at me. The bonuses for that mod are just much more consistent and reliable imo.

You don't need to specify "DD captains". There's plenty players out there where I genuinely wonder how they even managed to install the game, no matter what ship class they're in.
-
Actual number WG shared is 40% bottom tier games for tier VIII on the EU server. But I'd be willing to bet that number is actually not representative for all ship classes and probably lower for BBs and DDs, but higher for CA/CLs and CVs.

Swam across @44smok in his Fiji on the red team. Sadly he wasn't blessed with the most competent of teams and he faced a pretty tryharding triple division ... well okay, @FlutterRage in his Belfast and @MortenTardo in his Lyon were tryharding, I was just visiting my closest island friend in my Atlanta. -
*sigh* Not that this topic had much in the way of quality discussion in the first place with so many falsehoods being regurgitated, but OP just keeps digging and digging. A last word of advice: stating that you reported someone is a violation of the rules of conduct as per forum rules because letting the other user know serves no other purpose than provoking him/her. So before trying to raise support tickets, I suggest reading the forum rules first to make sure you don't waste everyone's precious time.

Battleships are reduced to targets
Aotearas replied to Jack_the_Stripper's topic in General Discussion
Not actually that simple, because some people are surprisingly resilient to change compared to what they've always done beforehand and even if what they're doing ends up being entirely uneconomical, they'll continue doing it because that's what they always did. Case in point, the repeair cost to service cost change. Didn't really make much of dent in the numbers of mapborder sniping potatoes. Gets us plenty "recieved no damage, y I must pay so much" threads though ... -
And inadvertedly you've just proven my point. Different people dislike different things with different intensity. There is no single objectively bad, worse or worst insult. It's all in the eye of the beholder. The only thing that stays objectively the exact same is the intent behind an insult, whether someone uses one slur or another makes no difference in that regard. And no amount of "be nice to me" is going to change the fact that someone being abusive is just that, abusive. The exact words being thrown around are nothing more than a formality.

Sure, let's limit the numbers of DDs per team. But only if we also limit and reduce the number of BBs. How does 1 CV, 2 BBs, 5 CA/CLs and 4 DDs per team sound like? Maybe switch a DD for another CA/CL every now and then. -
No, you can't. This game is build around a server authorative communication model. All important data (ship positions, ballistics, armour penetration calculations, detection/spotting, ship data (including gun/torpedo reloads, etc.) is handled by the game servers and only the player relevant data then send to the individual client. It is impossible to cheat that ... or more accurately, in order to cheat that system, you'd had to identify the exact server thread handling your data (and only yours unless you want everyone to have the same cheat effects) and change said data directly at the server in more or less realtime. Client authorative models are the ones that are ripe with cheats and what you probably think of, because the game uses the data stored on your personal client (which can be relatively easily modified by injecting different data that the game game server then recieves and communicates to the other clients). The actual illegal modifications you could have in WoWs are of another nature. Mods that provide a much more detailed amount of information than what you'd gleam from the games visual effects (such as lines depicting the path of torpedoes, making it easier to dodge them as it's much easier to see where exactly they're going to intersect with your current course) are the most common illegal modification. Or a cosmetic mod that replaces ship skins with the armour profiles for easy reference on where to shoot for maximum effort. Also much famed (and usually woefully overestimated) is the aim-assist, where you have another program running in tandem that reads the client memory for known data (such as enemy ship positions, course and speed that are actually spotted ingame) and then calculate a leading point based on preset data (so the ballistic properties of the ship you're playing as at the moment (needs to be specified for every ship/ballistic model). That won't ensure a hit, because RNG is still a thing and done serverside, but it could be a help (and valuable information for people to aim around rather than blindly trust the indicator). That's about as bad as it can get with cheating in WoWs due to the technical limitations of the data each client has access to.

Optimally yeah, people simply shouldn't be jerkasses. That should go without saying. I just find the idea that some insults are worse than others ludicrous. Saying some insults are unacceptable and asking for less offensive insults is just so mindnumbingly naive ... nevermind that if we employ reverse logic, having unacceptable insults also means there's acceptable insults. Where would one draw the line? OP doesn't like the term "retard" as insult. I can empathize. He's free to not like it and by all means he's also welcome to ask people politely not to use it. But anything more than that is just trying to create a personal safespace. And when he asked for funny insults he entered hypocrisy territory, because who's to say that whatever OP thinks is a funny insult isn't something that someone else thinks is just as inappropriate as OP thinks about "retard" ... And quite frankly, that kind arrogance of trying to judge an insult worse than others combined with such willfull ignorance about the subjective feelings of others and what they think is more offensive (or not) is something that I find incredibly inappropriate.

Give me a Jim "Thank God for me" F*cking Sterlingson and I might even jump through some hoops to get that captain.
-
I prefer North Korea's response insult: "dotard" noun an old person, especially one who has become weak or senile. It's so wonderfully descriptive and it just so happens that the word looks like someone put Donald Trump and retard together. NK's insult game is stronk!

I think you're giving Trump too much credit here.

There is no difference between someone calling you one term or another, the intent is the same, they want to insult you and they're going to use whatever language they deem sufficiently insulting. Also, do you want to know the difference between an insensitive insult and a funny one? Go on, think for minute before reading on ... *tick* *tock* The difference is you take less offense from the latter because you find it funny. But the intent is still the bloody same, they want to insult you, period. Insults are insults and people will use whatever they feel. No amount of "please don't be insensitive" and declaring some insults more offensive than others is going to change that and the very idea of asking people to is doubly naive, because firstly those people who'd insult you won't be listening to a damn thing you're saying and secondly ... are you for real? Like, are you seriously asking for angry people to make sensitive insults? Hello? Does the term oxymoron ring a bell? Now go on, do tag this comment as "Bad" too because I'm explaining the mentality of insults to you and it just so happens that it's not what you want to hear because abusive people aren't the most considerate of people.
