    WOWs Mythbusting

I don't think so. DDs saturate quickly but since they're so compact, chances are if you hit it you're not going to exclusively hit a single section. What you might be referring to (or what probably plays a major part in your perception of the problem) is that DDs are also chockfull of ship modules that can soak up damage. Landing a whopping 8 Zao HE shells on a DD but only getting 4k damage isn't uncommon, but that's not saturation, that's guns and torpedotubes sucking up the hits for module damage instead of HP damage. In all my games I have yet to come across a DD that I didn't deal at least some damage to with every hit. Even taking potshots with my DDs at a Khabarovsk with its 50mm hull plating that my HE can't penetrate, at least some of my HE shells hit parts of the thinner bow/aft armour or the superstructure. Not getting a single damaging hit on a DD like the Gearing in a Shimakaze practically means that he almost perfectly only hit that saturated area. Possible when the Gearing was kiting and the aft was saturated, but still impressive that not even a single shell hit something else for damage just due to shell dispersion sending it somewhere else on target.

    WOWs Mythbusting

Well, it's still a pretty rare case. DDs aren't exactly large ships so if you hit it, you're almost guaranteed to hit a section of the ship that isn't damage saturated by sheer coincidence, thus doing at least some damage.

  5. Got around to grinding the Richelieu a good bit thanks to @PzychoPanzer: Hon hon, little things are as satisfying as devastating that Zao which kept plinking away at your ship, annoying little bugger. Then had to defend our starter cap from the enemy Hsien Yang, though someone else snuck that frag from me. Almost got another Devastating Strike on the Atago, but alas the salvo wasn't quite enough so I had to finish it with another volley. Not much of a special game, but plenty good base XP ... and that one single secondary hit I got also started a fire A bit later I had this little fun match: Was a wee bit more intense than the previous one, despite @PzychoPanzer and myself being toptier. Had a lot of attention and at one point my heal just barely kept me alive through a couple seconds flooding until my DCP came back from cooldown. Ended that game with 4k HP left with a well deserved Dreadnought I dare say. Also must've pissed off someone because I got reported after that game, despite my usual pre-fight "Press N for honks" greeting being literally the only thing I ever wrote in chat. Well, you know you did well when you get reported by salty losers. All in all a neat 100% winrate for today. I think I'm going to keep Pzycho around as my lucky charm

Convince me that I am wrong

Not just a feeling, you can get bonafide stuck to islands. And I don't mean stuck as in you parked yourself in a way you can't get out, but stuck as in your ship will utterly refuse to move ... just the tip of your bow is touching the island but no matter what you do, the ship won't reverse back out again. Very frustrating when that happens because unless you have a divisionmate with you in the vicinity you can ask to ram and dislodge you, you might end up stuck there for the rest of the match.

    Matchmaking

Because it isn't necessary. You can still do great in a tier VIII ship even if bottom tier. The only thing WG has to do is reduce the number of times you are getting seeded into tier X games.
  8. Aotearas

    Matchmaking

There is only a maximum of two tiers difference ... unless you faildivision together with a higher tier ship (at which point it would be entirely your fault). That said, tier VIII MM is horrible and you will get uptiered more often than not.
  9. Because the difficulty in acquiring the achievement is way out of proportion with its value. As a non-heroic battle achievement whose reward is signal flags that aren't of particularily great value for most non-CV ships, the difficulty (or more accurately: chance) of getting it is hilariously low. Alternatively, if you'd want to keep the requirements as they are, then WG could increase the payout accordingly. Make it 20 signal flags instead of 10 for example. Anything to get the effort/chance to value equation into a reasonable proportion.
  10. Yep, all WG has to do is stop counting catapult aircraft towards the total aircraft tally before applying the threshold (say 50% for CVs and 30% for non-CVs). Catapult aircraft can still count towards the tally of shot down aircraft, but really the primary problem with Clear Skies was that the higher up the tiers you went, the number of catapult aircraft between all the ships skyrocketed. The CV you were fighting might have 70 aircraft, but between all the cruisers and battleships with their catapult fighters/spotters, the total plane number in the game would be closer to 100. I had a game in my Atlanta in a tier VIII game with the enemy CV being a Lexington and I shot down 52 (!!!) aircraft. Lexington has an aircraft capacity of 72. Without catapult aircraft adding to the mix, that would mean 36 aircraft should've been enough to get Clear Skies under the >30 & 50% rule. But still, with 52 aircraft kills I didn't get the Clear Skies achievement. Which means with catapult aircraft there were at the very least 105 total aircraft in that game on the enemy team. And before someone attempts to take that anecdote as proof that the new concept would be working since I shot down so many aircraft, the CV was literally flying all his aircraft over me, the entire game long. As in straight over me. And ostensibly the only reason why I didn't get all his 72 aircraft was because said Lexington also thought it would be a good idea to sail right up to the point of where I was hugging the coastline (next to our spawn on Two Brothers ...) where he promptly died because, and what a surprise that apparently was, there was me sitting in my Atlanta ... so I don't think this would be a good argument to make in favour of the new achievements.
  11. Let's be honest here, any higher number than is equivalent of a single full strike wave is hopelessly unrealistic. With clever positioning it's possible to catch some CV players unaware until it's too late to savely abort an attack run and you might shoot down the majority of a full attack wave (so around 20 bombers and the odd escorting fighters), but after that, the enemy CV has to be completely braindead to keep sending planes near you (nevermind at you ...). Even if you put yourself at a strategic spot of the map within range of most of your team, the CV will try to skirt around your AA as much as possible so you won't be getting a lot of aircraft kills. Basically, if you get any more than a full strike wave worth of aircraft kills then the enemy CV was feeding you aircraft. Not that it's particularily rare to find bad CV players, but even then all but the most ignorant of them at least know not to repeatedly go to where their aircraft are getting slaughtered. And IF the CV player is so bad that he can't work out the most basic "don't go into that nasty AA range" stuff, you still have to hope that his target is going to be near you to enjoy the benefits before he runs out of aircraft for you to kill by sending them into other high AA auras.
  12. *cough*SoloWarrior*cough* As for the original question: 55 aircraft as a CV and 40 aircraft for non-CVs is just nonsense. The requirement should scale with tiers. The first couple aircraft carriers don't even have 55 aircraft in total and even if double CV games aren't exactly rare, getting 55 aircraft kills is still an obscenely high threshold. In the middle tiers where you typically get one CV per team, 55 aircraft is roughly equal to two thirds of the entire air fleet if not more. That number is only halfway realistic going up to the high tiers and even then getting 55 aircraft kills is a tall order unless the enemy CV is literally feeding his aircraft to you. And I'm not even going to bother going into detail as to how utterly laughable the 40 aircraft threshold for non-CV class ships is. As it was noted, for signal flags whose ingame bonus isn't exactly the greatest (and highly situational to use for any non-CV ship unless you division up with a CV), those requirements are completely out of proportion. The economics with those achievements are totally out of whack. Oy, leave Trump out of this.

In that case you're probably out of luck.
  14. Swam across @ghostbuster_ in his Chapayev on the Red team as I was sailing my Gearing. Sadly his team got steamrolled pretty hard as I had the rare pleasure of having random BB players that actually pushed along.

    Suggestion: "Cap Contested" Ribbon

Has been asked for multiple times already. Not having anything remotely like it at this point the only reasonable conclusion we can draw is that WG doesn't give a flying crap.

    Total Despair 😔

I just had a game with no DDs. Each team had 1 CV, 4 BBs and the rest cruisers. I advise at the start of the game that people should NOT rush into caps but instead wait out a bit until we've reduced the enemy numbers. So of course most of the cruisers rush straight to the caps and die predictably. I notice that the side where our CV spawned is crumbling hard due to those stupid yolo-suicides and tell the CV to evacuate, he doesn't, then dies as the enemy inevitably catches him. The moral of the story is: the average random player has roughly the same accumulated intelligence of a cubic-meter dirt and wouldn't be able to make a reasonable decision even if you politely told them what to do.
  17. I know and it's on my backlog, but I want to wait until after I got my hands on the VN first (releases on Steam on May 8th).
  18. Iowa thinks Jervis is Kongou's and Warspite's kid. I'm more interested in why Iowa was cosplaying as Makise Kirisu though ... Littorio asking for a Pizza at what I can only assume is a MgRonalds (cashier looks like Chihi from Hataraku Maou-Sama) in the background is also funny as heck for me, plus Akagi devouring that burger. ... and now I have to watch Steins;Gate and Hataraku Maou-Sama again ...

    Waterline discussion

Personally the very idea of localized weather effects that effect gameplay is a big No-No. The stormfront on Hermes worked because the mission was designed around it. Spawns, escort routes and engagement focus was de facto railroaded around the concept. In random battles, such a thing to pop up at a particular spot of the map without any consideration of both teams' positions is just a ticking timebomb until it provdes one team a distinct advantage just because random chance said "storm, here, screw the consequences".

Divs should only allow same-tier ships

You're lucky then, or perhaps I'm particularily unlucky, because I see faildivisions typically at least once per day. On weekends typically every three games. I think my record was three games in a row where there were at least two faildivision between both teams.
  21. Aotearas

Divs should only allow same-tier ships

If WG absolutely wants to keep allowing different tiers in a division, then at least MM should be hardcoded to always seed them bottom tier (so +3 MM for tier VII and below faildivisions), no more trying to exploit MM even if the successrates at that are dubious at best. And in case of 788 CV divisions anchoring, just match them with a tier VIII CV. That should get rid of such exploitative behaviour really fast and the people who do it for a challenge actually get a proper one.
