    Clan Base 2.0

The new clan base looks appealing to me and also already to several of our clan's members who have shared their impressions with me. What I / we particularly like is to now see coal and steel plants added! We did not have that before. Overall, nice improvements and good to see that this is being developed as well.

    Submarines ingame?

I heard a similar story the other day from a former submariner in the Dutch navy. Apparently, the Dutch submarine "Dolfijn" was at one point also engaged in a NATO exercise in which she broke through all the lines of defense and surfaced right beside a large US aircarft carrier (and would theoretically have been able to sink her), much to the surprise of their crew... Not sure if this actually happened (or was perhaps exaggerated -- the man thought it was USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, yet that actually was already an older CV in reality, so not sure what is true with that either), but it certainly could be fun to have such a submarine mission in the game in future! P.S. Marko Ramius, the Red October Captain, would indeed be great to have as special submarine captain, +1 to that!! With special stealth values to make him more difficult to detect
  3. Maybe time to introduce sonar, depth charges and mines on (certain) destroyers then? I've always wondered when those round-looking objects we see on the aft decks of several destroyers in the game, would be put to use 8-) They were used in real life, so why not also add them here?!
  4. Interesting poll, good to see this. In the first category, so far Seydlitz and HMS Repulse stand out as the ones with the most votes (7.61% and 7.07%, respectively). In the second category, USS Saratoga takes the lead (at 7.5% now). I was surprised to find out that the above 3 (to each of which, amongst others, I gave my vote) are actually the most popular ones atm. Already looking forward to the next poll (perhaps one for the now officially announced Pan European tree?)...

    Supercontainers for Tier X ships

    until

Very nice rewards if you ask me, Thank You Wargaming !!!! and Happy Anniversary !!!! Looking forward to the next year of World of Warships already :-) **** BEST GAME EVER **** P.S. These super-containers do make me happy, only one small mention if I may, they do not seem to work for USS Salem (perhaps because this is a free-XP-ship already?) Apart from this minor peculiarity, great to be able to receive such special rewards for your Tier 10 ships, motivates me even more to go -- @full speed -- for my next Tier 10!!!

Is a Pan-European tech tree wanted?

For the Pan European tree, Hr. Ms. De Ruyter would be a fine addition! These pictures show a highly detailed model of her and were taken at the Marinemuseum in Den Helder.

    Pan European tree (premiums)

I for one would absolutely LOVE to see SMS Viribus Unitis and/or her sisters SMS Szent István, SMS Tegetthoff and SMS Prinz Eugen in World of Warships. Personally I think Viribus Unitis herself would be the most interesting one, given the historical connection to the Austro-Hungarian Imperial motto: "With united forces". Yet of course Tegetthoff would also be very fitting, named after the famous victor of the (to me, always fascinating) Battle of Lissa. Prinz Eugen could be confusing, as we already have the German tier 8 cruiser with the same name in the game (yet there are also already 2 "St. Louis" cruisers, the tier 3 US St. Louis and the tier 9 French Saint Louis). Whichever way, I look forward very much to seeing one of these great battleships in our game :o) Probably similar to the tier 3 IJN cruiser Katori, which has a catapult fighter itself. In a way, that can be an advantage (for AA and for spotting) and a disadvantage (for being spotted) and could hence work both ways. Yet to me, having a destroyer with floatplane (or catapult fighter) in the game would seem like an interesting new feature! Besides the above, other Dutch destroyers could also be interesting to add, such as Hr. Ms. Tjerk Hiddes (which now actually already is in the game, as the tier 7 Pan Asia destroyer Gadjah Mada -- which is the same ship but then under Indonesian flag -- originally have been built in England as an N-class destroyer named HMS Nonpareil). And of course Hr. Ms. Kortenaer, which was so tragically sunk in the Battle of the Java Sea. With her 4x 120 mm Bofors and 2x 75 mm guns, and a speed of 34 knots, she would seem to fit in well at tier 4 or 5 (or even tier 6 -- Fubuki for instance has 35 knot top speed and 127mm guns) ... Also, having a "torpedo boat hunter" -- without torpedoes itself, yet to compensate for this, perhaps another feature -- in the game could prove interesting!

    Blyska still worth?

Blyskawica is a good destroyer, if you ask me. Back in the days when Kiev was still at tier 7, however, as a big Kiev-fan I tended to enjoy confrontations with Blyska's as I had become pretty handy with my Kiev and often got the Blyska's running from me. Now however, Kiev is at tier 8 and I rarely get to see Blyskawica's, as MM often seems to favour T8-9-10. When comparing Blyskawica to other tier 7 DD's however, speaking purely for myself, I end up favouring Gadjah Mada, Haida and Leningrad more. Perhaps this is because they connect better to my play-style. Yet I will certainly be using my Blyska more again in future, because I like it that she feels a bit like a Kiev-light now, or in a way also a bit like Mahan. but then with premium benefits. And that, with ample practice, there probably is a whole lot more to be gotten out of her... Moreover, I will find it very interesting to see how Blyska will be incorporate in the future Pan European country set-up! Looking forward to that tremendously.

Spend your Anniversary tokens THIS week!

I got my first Dasha Captain (the original Russian version, as Dasha is Russian herself, this seems like the most logical choice). It would be so cool to also hear her in German, Japanese or French though... hope they try that in a future edition :o)

Conqueror - 457 AP Shells, Any good?

Thank you for drawing (for me, renewed) attention to the differences between Conqueror's two gun variants. Just for fun, I will try and alternate them from battle to battle a couple of times, to see which kinds of differences this can lead to. Tbh this choice option had kind of blurred out of my line of thought, now that she has been in my fleet for several months. You kind of get used to a specific setup, and then (at least in my case) don't question it, especially if the results are positive. Contrary to e.g. the Mogami's two different gun options. That stuck like glue, in my memory The chance of fire being 63% on the 457mm's, with HE, probably prompts most new Conqueror players to use these (compared to 48% with HE on the 419mm's). And the fact that the 419's are referred to as "stock" (compared to e.g. World of Warships Wikipedia, which shows trhe 457's as being "top" configuration)... ... which does of course in no way mean that you cannot achieve good results with the smaller guns! In fact, when you look at the DPM (according to wows-numbers.com), the AP shells on the twelve 419's can do 312,000. Yet with the eight 457's, your DPM with AP is down to 238,400! And the rate of fire remains the same: 2 rounds per minute.

    Gewertete Gefechte

Warum also nicht Tier 6 gewertet, beim nächsten Mal ?! * Gab's vor langer Zeit auch shon mal, Tier 6 gewertet... doch das ist leider schon Jahre her. Zeit für neue, erfrischende Wiederholung :-)

Best looking ship in the game - which is it?

Amazing aircraft carrier with those two separate decks! Which ship is this? Never saw it before (and I cannot decipher the Chinese characters shown beside it...)

Best looking ship in the game - which is it?

Indeed that new Tier 6 German battleship Prinz Eitel Friedrich also looks astonishing! Looking forward very much to seeing her in the game. At Gamescom 2018, I had the privilege to be able to try her out. Instant love!!! :-) Unique shape and style, with good secondaries which make her a pleasure to brawl with!

PSA: Remembrance Night Skin for USS Helena

Very nice permanent camouflage and fairly easy to achieve. What I really like about this camo are the respectful aspects... the positive way in which real-life-history is incorporated into this design. Makes it unique!! Plus of course that deep shade of blue makes Helena stand out beautifully in the game :-) Thank you WG, thank you designer who created this +1

    Updated Operation Dynamo

Now all we need is the adjustment that you can also use Commonwealth Captains on Royal Navy ships -- and vice versa. This was actually done in real life on quite a few ships, IIRC I read somewhere that RN Captain(s) also commanded e.g. Haida in Canadian service. It was a pleasure to be able to start jointly using IJN and ARP ship Captains, which was adjusted half a year ago or so. Now, Commonwealth & RN could easily follow suit! A bit off topic here perhaps, yet it still has me wondering: why were the local rank names of Pan Asian Captains removed? Formerly, there were ranks such as "Shang Xiao" (Captain), "Shao Jiang" (Rear Admiral) and "Shang Wei" (Lieutenant). Now, only the English-language rank names appear! Wonder why that has been changed.

First poll - best looking ship

Amazing to see how popular Scharnhorst is! I voted without first having seen the results, just because Scharnhorst was -- instantly -- the first ship that came to mind with impressions like sleek, stylish, smart-looking, the right combination of fast and sturdy.... To stay on topic (and resisting the temptation of voicing my thoughts on the appearance of some of the Italian cruisers in the game) (*) , there was a similar discussion here several years ago in this thread: Scharnhorst is not mentioned here, as it had not yet been released at the time this thread ran. Yet I'm sure it would have gotten a lot of positive mentions there as well. In a few years time, if we look back at this, I'm convinced Scharnhorst in her timeless style will still stand out as one of the fave's! (*) Except for stating here quickly that when you're looking down at the bow of Duca d'Aosta, from above, it gives me the feeling of driving a surfboard

Cash refund for premium carriers after rework?

Wow, all that for 166 battles? (which is what it says in your profile here) Hats off to you Captain, sounds like quite a big sacrifice ;-) P.S. Brilliant comments by the way, LMAO You deserve a medal for those!

Carriers are not good for the game

To make a statement here: I like CV's! (as my name already goes to show...). The current mode is one that I enjoy playing, yet somehow I do not find CV's easy to play. Mainly because of the multi-tasking, you have a lot of actions going on at the same time. What I do see is big differences per CV: I had a really tough time with Bogue and Independence, during a time when they appeared to be not-so-strong (or my own gameplay with them was simply not good, or a combination of these factors). When I had grinded my way up, it felt like a relief to get rid of them. On the other side, I find CV's like Lexington and Kaga a pure pleasure to play. One of the features I enjoy is manual torping. When this was removed for Tiers 4 and 5, I sold my Hosho, Zuiho, Langley and Bogue mainly because of this. Otherwise I would have kept them purely for fun. Fighter squadrons for USN CV’s were reduced to only 1. This has had quite an impact on their gameplay. Now, you can no longer select different deck lay-outs, there is only 1 for each USN CV. This is a reason for me to now also sell my Ranger, which was one of my favorite CV’s (not in the last place due to the large supply of aircraft). Looking at the first impressions of CV rework, I am a bit mixed. On one hand, good to see that they are working on it. Also, good to see appealing graphics and a new type of gameplay, in which you actually control your squadrons individually. But where is the ship itself? I am playing World of Warships, where’s my CV then? This was not visible yet in the first previews on the rework, but as an avid CV fan I really want to be able to see my Essex with her permanent camo, and my Kaga with her huge high build-up, etc. Will be interesting to see how this will evolve in the rework. On the other hand, I saw a comment from one player saying “You’ve taken the boat out of CV gameplay” and another stating “Now I am steering airplanes around the map? If I would have wanted to play airplanes, I’d have chosen an airplane sim.”. At this point, I feel sympathy for both of these lines of thought. Yet the optimist in me says, be patient, wait and see how they tackle this aspect. For now, I’m continuing my grind to Taiho (which is, yes, challenging) and to my namesake. Given the OP state in which Midway was, I can understand that they nerfed her. Yet I was surprised to see the actual impact of that nerf: minus 40 planes? Really? Wow… going from 136 to 96 seems like a huge reduction (close to 30% less) and leaves me wondering, is she still a good match for Hakuryu after this? Whichever way the CV rework goes: I certainly am looking forward to trying it out! If it’s good, in the end, I will be playing CV’s more and more. If it doesn’t turn out to be to my (continued) liking, there will be plenty of other ships in this great game to further develop my skills in…

Is a Pan-European tech tree wanted?

LOL @"Trump" You must mean "Tromp", right? (like the Dutch admiral -- to avoid any confusion haha!) Exactly! Thank you for posting this here!! Cool flag, will hope to be adding that to all the ships in our European Navy!!!
  21. Midway67

Is a Pan-European tech tree wanted?

Therefore I would doubt that, that it would be only for premium ships. I was happy to not only hear him announce that, but also see a picture highlighting Pan Europe as a new country on the large screen @the WG stand :-) Will be exciting to have lots of new and interesting ships in there, I'm looking forward to that already

Is a Pan-European tech tree wanted?

Brilliant proposal! I would love to see a Pan European tree added. I voted 'Yes' to this immediately here! At Gamescom, this question was asked during a World of Warships presentation (I believe by Mr. Conway): "Which countries' navies would you want to see in a Pan European tree?" First responses from the crowd were: Netherlands and Austria-Hungary. I loudly applaud both players who made these call-outs! For the Netherlands, a Koninklijke Marine - cruiser like Hr. Ms. de Ruyter (with its dramatic history) and a destroyer like Hr. Ms. Kortenaer would really fit in well IMHO. Top that off with the aircraft carrier Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman (later sold to Argentina, I see a parallel here with the new Pan American tree which has now already started with Boise alias Nueve de Julio!). A clone of Gadjah Mada, which was at one point Hr. Ms. Tjerk Hiddes in the Dutch navy (originally built as British N-class DD HMS Nonpareil) would make for a good premium addition here! For Austria-Hungary, having "Kaiserliche" battleships like SMS Viribus Unitis from the Tegetthoff Class (12x 305mm / 12 inch guns and 12x 150mm / 5.9 inch guns!) would in my view be fantastic! Add to that the scout cruiser SMS Novara and Tatra-class destroyers like SMS Balaton and SMS Triglav would be able to further complement the tree. And throw in SMS Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand as a premium Radetzky-class battleship (with 4x 305mm / 12 inch and 8x 240mm / 9 inch guns!) and you have a very interesting new spectrum! In fact, seeing a United European Navy in a "United States of Europe" was an ideology already pursued by Austria-Hungary before the First World War! Already existing fine European ships in the game, like Blyskawica, could be incorporated into that same tree as well. Seeing that there are probably not enough Italian ships to build a complete Regia Marina tree (which Tier 9's and 10's would you put above Roma then?), the 4 we have in the game now could also be used in the new Pan European tree, why not?! There's a lot of potential here, personally I would find the addition of Royal Navy CV's a higher priority than a complete Pan European tree already, yet a good start could be made with the ships mentioned above. This could then be expanded into a full tree in future.

    Graf Zeppelin Update From Developers

To be honest, I've seen some really good CV-players with Graf Zeppelin's lately. Given the historical significance of this ship, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of her in future. At the same time, it would be great to also see Royal Navy CV's here before long!!! Wonder when they will be added... and quietly already looking forward to that as well... (assuming it will not be a matter of if they will be added, but plainly when) >>> GZ against Ark Royal? >>> Glorious versus Langley? >>> Illustrious vs. Hiryu? I'm doing a lot of CV-dreaming already :o)
