Same here. Those flashing lights on the ship make it a real alarming "red alert" setting! Yet somehow it does feel as if the flooding itself is going faster now though...

Nice idea to allow for ships to be visible in the clan port! In our clan's case however, currently that would mean 48 ships in port, which would make it quite lively there :o) Indeed it would be good to be able to also customize the port in one way or another to make it not just a generic one, but really "Your own clan's" port. Display the clan logo there, make the clan name stand out more, and perhaps add an editable pop-up showing the clan's staff (Commander, Deputy's, Recruiter) and their in-game names (and optionally also real life first names), for quick reference. Such visual and/or textual content, which could be customized per clan (such as those two lines at the top of the clan chat window) would also be perfect to have and could add "experience value" IMHO. Now, we use this (small!) space to share our clan's Teamspeak address, the link to our clan battle availability calendar, and even our clan's social media account name there. And welcome messages highlighting new members and their gamernames to the rest of the clan. Ultimately, the addition of a clan-specific building (call it the "Clan Lounge" or "Harbor Inn") where you could see your clanmates, their names, their favourite ships together would be nice. The current lay-out already provides for a good basis for such possible future additions.

Fully agree, indeed the play-style should always be leading with this. As for Emerald, yes she is fragile and yes you can get into trouble with her fragility very rapidly (happened to me many times, later on also with Neptune), yet I still think she's a fun and highly maneuverable ship with loads of potential. Just make sure you're on the edge of your seat with her at all times, especially when there are battleships with hard-hitting AP shells in the vicinity. This is typically not the kind of boat where you can sit back, relax and just enjoy the scenery ;-) Do that and you're bound to see a big explosion from up really close, before long!! (in which your Emerald suddenly turns bright red and fifty shades of firy yellow & orange, haha!) Use the terrain and your smoke, as well as proximity to the right kind of allies (not only those with smoke, but also allied BB's!) to your advantage whenever you can. With those Kobayashi special-camo's now in the shop, I can only hope they will one day also bring back that 'Lá Fhéile Pádraig - Emerald Edition' special permanent camouflage, which was available on St. Patrick's Day 2017 (not this year, unfunfortunately, or I'd have purchased it rightaway!) ---> see http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Camouflage and then in the "Special Camouflage" section. My win-rate with her has never been much to write home about, yet despite that I still found myself playing her regularly just to challenge myself. One day I'll buy her back, this "mid-tier Minotaur-be-like" and keep working her until I get my first "Emerald-Kraken" with her :-)

Yes, I have one of those two on Belfast as well, that makes the most sense, it would seem. The other Dunkirk-guy is on my Jervis now, mainly because he is one of my most senior RN captains (and would move on to Lightning > Jutland > Daring in future).

Wait... do we now have Dutch language as a sound option in the game?! (or is that by means of mods -- which I never use -- only?)
-
Very interesting initiative, EwoudK ! I applaud your work and suggestions made. Given the historical value, I'd put De Ruyter at the highest priority. Btw recently, I posted photo's of a (large!) model of Hr. Ms. De Ruyter here : @Rkthegreat : great to see those highly detailed sketches, impressive!! Would be sooo cool to also see those ships in World of Warships in future. With the advent of Royal Navy aircraft carriers, it could also be practical (and perhaps even comparatively easy) to add Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman to the Pan European tree, as she was in fact also a British-built CV by origin (Colossus-class, HMS Venerable) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HNLMS_Karel_Doorman_(R81) Alternately, if this lone CV would not fit into the Pan European tree, it could also be added to the Pan American one, where it could stand beside Nueve de Julio, as this CV was, in the end, sold to the navy of Argentina.

Which is your most hated camo by looks?
Midway67 replied to Oppressor_'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah, in my port :o) Ever since reading books about the tragic sinking of USS Indianapolis, I simply cannot get myself to like shark images on ships anymore.... -
Ahoy! For our clan ZEN (Zestful European Navy), we are looking for 3 more clanmates! edit: 2 more clanmates! We just celebrated our 1st birthday (founded 21st Sep. 2017) and are happy with the 47 Captains we have on board with us now. There is room for 3 more: edit - 2 more: - looking for courageous and enthousiastic World of Warships players who go into battle regularly (*) - with tier 10 experience and at least 1 tier 10 ship in port - Teamwork is more important to us than stats & win-rate! (*) if you're planning a sabbatical, fine -- just please let us know beforehand, not after ;-) Specifically, we seek players who can also stand a defeat (without going into rage every time). People who want to win, but are also able to just enjoy a good fight with fun & challenging ships! We use Teamspeak (mandatory for clan battles) and an availability calendar for clan battles. We try to help and support eachother, and stand our ground together. Interested? Send me a PM, contact me in game or reply here. Looking forward to hearing from you! Cool! Didn't realize that was possible from outside of the game client. Good advice, thank you!!

Of all the tier 10 ships currently in the game, this is the one which appeals the least to me. Can anyone who has some experience with her, paint a brief picture here of what she is like? I really like the French ships in general, with Charles Martel, Dunkerque, De Grasse, République and Aigle being my favourites... ... yet whenever I take a closer look at this Henri IV cruiser, it feels underwhelming, especially when thinking of competitors like Hindenburg (strong & sturdy) and Zao (agile fire-setter). Or is that just my, maybe wrong, gut feeling? What is she good at / strong with?
-
In that sense, not only a premium tier 7 US BB is missing, but then also: - premium tier 7 French BB (between Dunkerque and Gascogne; for tier 9, Jean Bart is on the way, not sure if that will be premium or free XP though (and I just saw Bourgogne in game for the 1st time yesterday, which I take will be tier 10 silver...) - premium tier 6 and tier 7 Italian BB (both between Giulio Cesare and Roma) - premium tier 6 German BB (Prinz Eitel Friedrich in the pipe-line; no premium tier 9 German BB yet though) ... and where's the Royal Navy premium tier 8 BB then?! Whichever way, a lot of possibilities remain for the future!!

To be honest I cannot (yet) really make a fair comparison of the two. However, I have begun to become a fan of Kronshtadt, even though I have not played her as much I would like to yet (with the new IJN and RN DD's getting so much attention). What I really like about her are the guns and the general "feel" of the ship itself. I imagine Stalingrad to be a sort of "Kronshtadt-heavy" ... which makes me all the more interested in that ship! From what I have seen so far with Alaska, that ship appears to be very vulnerable. Only saw her in game a couple of times so far (and have not played her myself), yet each time I saw Alaska appear, she received massive blows from battleships and was gone long before the battle ended... Yet Kronshtadt, by contrast -- to my impression -- does manage to survive quite often! Yet maybe this was just the luck of the draw, that could be of course... Whichever way, will surely be interesting to see confrontations between these two.
-

Hey, which ship is this? Looks cool! And what a special camo...
-
That says exactly what I was thinking when I started out on her! Especially with a high-level Captain, we should be able to make this boat rock and sing
-
Fully agree! Nice to now also be able to obtain a clan bonus on coal as well as steel!
-
Good observation. Don't have her in port yet (but working on it). Sounds like a fun ship! Still wondering if her name should be pronounced as "Jervis" or "Jarvis" though :-) Seeing this makes me wonder if it is the same on the German Tier 5 cruiser Königsberg, which also has aft turrets that can rotate 360 degrees. Will try to test that, the next time I go into battle with her. I wonder if this happens with Kberg as well...

Interesting thoughts. My first impressions of Acasta are good, she is very maneuverable indeed and add to this the feature that you can fire torpedoes one-by-one... ... to my taste gives you a good basis to work from. Yes you'll have to fight hard and smart with this destroyer but that can be fun too :-) Right now, running into a Podvoisky or Nicholas at close quarters would tempt me to turn away, just to be safe, yet that is because of the newness of this ship to me (and because I know of the good gunpower of these other two, which I put to good use myself regularly). Seeing a Jianwei, Mutsuki, Minekaze, Kamikaze, Kamikaze R, or even T-22 approaching up close, I would probably go ahead and engage, yes at the edge of my seat and with full agility, but it would be a good challenge to see if I could get the overhand on any one of those. Taking the detectability down to 6.2km with the respective (4-points) Captain's skill 'Concealment Expert' makes her aaalmost able to stealth-torp. Using your smoke wisely and timing everything right must then be crucial, yet that applies to pretty much all DD-work... What does ring a "be aware"-bell in the back of my mind when using Acasta the coming weeks will be the 95 second torpedo-reload (which can be brought down to 86 seconds with the 'Torpedo Armament Expertise' skill, okay, but that's still a long shot from the quick reload times @IJN DD's , such as 42 seconds @Minekaze... which can also be reduced by 10% accordingly). That feels long, anything close to one-and-a-half minutes... Getting such a tier 5 DD for free, as a gift, without requiring any investment certainly does invite me to play her for at least several dozen battles to find out what she is really like (in my hands). By the looks of what I like so far, she may well be a "keeper" then :o)

This thought is giving me a vision of the future French destroyers. Just imagine, what a V-25 or Longjiang would be like... with French speedboost!!!

Battles played in this new Arms Race mode are apparently not counted in your Random Battles total. Tried Arms Race yesterday, yet saw that my Random Battle total remained the same as before after that. (Perhaps a separate counter will be added in future for one's Arms Race battles?) It looks interesting as such, nice initiative and my team won fairly easily, so my first impression is positively biassed ;-) ... yet will have to try this mode several dozen more times before being able to build a balanced opinion upon it. What I miss at first glance is a sort of comprehensive "overview" of where we stand, in the course of the battle, e.g. "3 out of 6 strategic points taken". It is nice to be notified each time your team gains the overhand in a certain "control zone", yet the total would be good to be (made) aware of as well.

Bis jetzt noch nicht.... Mit welchem Schiff war denn das? (bzw. welche Stufe -- oder dabei mehrere probiert?)

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Midway67 replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Looking forward particularly to the first Austro-Hungarian and Dutch ships, the Russian BB-line and the addition of submarines. Will be interesting to see how that turns out! What makes me wonder is how / when / which further CV's will be added to the game. Addition of RN CV's would of course be superb. Yet this would give us an odd number of CV trees, IJN, USN and RN. Plus Graf Zeppelin, as the only German one. However, only recently I learned that Graf Zeppelin was not the only German aircraft carrier, but that there were more being planned-for: there were actally at least 7 others in planning / under consideration : see https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_geplanter_Schiffe_der_Kriegsmarine#Flugzeugträger Enough to fill a 4th CV-tree with? -
Die gibt's jetzt, seit heute Morgen, siehe https://eu.wargaming.net/shop/wows/specials/ Sogar mit einem (einmaligen) Sonderangebot, 10 Stück für € 0.89!

Cool idea. Give them 1 or 2 torpedoes as well, a rudder shift module and a speed boost to make them feel like Formula-One-on-the-Waves Could make for a nice future Halloween-mission as well: try to sink as many camping battleships as possible :-)
