Over the past week almost every battle has ended, for me, when the server connection quit. Wargaming pops up a dialogue box explaining that this is a 'technical issue' - duh! So, every time this happens I have to reconnect but, in the meantime, my ship's been sunk, I've wasted my doubloons, signals and consumables and forfeited credit for an almost certain victory. Great fun! No matter what I'm doing on the internet, my fibre connection is solid. I have no problems with any online activity other than WoW. (online banking, shopping, gaming, Netflix and Amazon Prime etc. Windows network diagnostics finds nothing. All of that being true, can anyone explain what 'technical issue' Wargaming is talking about. If the problem persists, I'll have to throw in the towel.

I've had a number of invitations to join divisions and clans. I ignored them because I didn't want to offer a flat no without explanation. I think that while my profile was public it may have given people the impression that I'd be a worthwhile addition to their group. I don't think so. I'm 72 years old. I have a serious heart condition which does all sorts of weird things to me if I get excited or stressed. My eyesight is deteriorating, so I can't read on-screen messages very well and younger players will have much sharper reactions. I was, in my younger years, a professional soldier so there's just no way I'd volunteer to be part of a team if I had any doubts about my ability to cut it. I'd hate to accept and then turn out to be the team's weakest link. So, this is just an apology to those who extended invitations that I didn't respond to. Thanks for inviting me. I hope that my explanation helps you understand my silence. I'm not an anti-social loner. I'm just an old guy who recognises his own limitations. I don't like it, but there's not much I can do about it. :}

friendly damage penalty on torpedoes
AlbaMaris replied to Peter1968_2018's topic in Announcements and General Discussion (English)
Yes, I agree that negligence, proven or not, has to be penalised, simply because it's impossible for the game to consider reasonable doubt or mitigating circumstances. It's only a game, so I have no serious objection to that. The problem is that it leaves no room to differentiate between malice and mistake. Pink and red labels tar everyone with the same brush and that, I think, has a negative effect on players because it allows anti-social misfits to mingle with those who play by the rules. Getting tagged with a label can alter your approach to the game, it can throw you off and make you suspicious of others on your team. There's no positive effect and there's no easy solution. Great fun for team-killers, though, with all that pink smoke for cover. Really? That's pure GTA5. The incident that caused my daughter severe injury was a real-life event. If your 'correction' describes the sort of thing that is likely to happen in your neighbourhood, you should think, seriously, about relocating. :) I'm sure that most of us have more important things to worry about and I've given this more attention than it deserves. Right and wrong are so old hat in these heady days of social and political climate change. The liars lie and the cheaters cheat in ever-increasing numbers but don't worry. I have it on great authority that 'Things Can Only Get Better' and everything will be 'Great Again'. :( -
friendly damage penalty on torpedoes

Evidence of intent? Apportionment of blame? No, let's just dispense with that nonsense. How many credits do I owe you? -

So, my daughter's car is stopped at a red light. Another car races through the red on the opposite side of the intersection and smashes head on into my daughter. She ends up in hospital with bleeding in her brain. The offender's car was damaged in the collision but he and his passenger were unharmed. Your rules of 'evidence' suggest that my daughter was guilty of willful damage to the other car. Please explain. My comment was on topic, in reply to original post. -

What's wrong with the penalties system? Presumption of guilt. Is this a cry-baby's charter or are complaints of 'unsporting conduct' backed up by evidence of wrongdoing? I've been falling foul of this nonsense since it was introduced. Sure I make mistakes and I'll put my hands up if complaints are justified but why should I, or anyone else, accept penalties without ever knowing why they are levied? I'm spending money on this game only to have hard won points deducted even if the fault is not mine. I think I'll just keep my money in my pocket for a while, spike my torpedo tubes and wait until World of Warships installs traffic lights. It's utter nonsense to introduce penalties in this way. -
I can't see anything in the forum that addresses this issue. I hadn't played for a while, so had to download the update. 10 hours and 56 min, so far, on a high-speed fibre connection and no end in sight. Utterly ridiculous! Why would anyone want to persevere with this crap? Life's too short!

Point blank broadsides from friendly before I've even started my engines
AlbaMaris posted a topic in Newcomers' Section
I'm new to the game (7 days) and I know I'm not very good but what chance has anyone got against this crap. Co-op battle starts with another cruiser sitting alongside mine. Before either of us has moved he launches one broadside after another into me. I'm completely taken aback but let it go for the first three volleys. I retaliate to survive and sink him. When the battle ends, I'm heavily penalised and my username is highlighted in red as if I'm the rogue. There's a lot to learn in this game and I haven't even mastered the basics but this, amongst other things, is just bollocks. -

Thanks for responding, Ascender. I understand the difficulties but, in this case, I just didn't know what else to do other than let the offender sink me. I didn't even make a note of my attacker's details, so I couldn't complain about it. I wholeheartedly agree when you say that their main purpose is to "destroy the enjoyment of others" and that's what has happened in this case. I'm sixty-nine years old and virtually housebound by serious illness. I joined WoWs to while away the empty hours and was thoroughly enjoying the experience before this incident occurred. I haven't been able, so far, to communicate with others during battles because, initially, there's too much to take in and I'm not familiar with some of the lingo. I try my best to help my team win and, where possible, go to the aid of others. I'm ex-army and not particularly fond of 'friendly fire' but, sad to say, that's not what this was. Why don't WG get rid of it, completely? Some might argue against the limited loss of immersion but the positive effect of getting rid of the animosity and resentment that deliberate attacks on friendlies causes, would I think far outweigh any loss of atmosphere.
