That is completely normal because Wg devs are thinking that the ships are hollow inside ,they have only citadel the rest of the ship is filled with NOS for burnouts and drag racing.When u do overpen its normal to get that damage ,because it not had enough armour to detonate(remember ships are filled with air).So better switch to he in this situations .Nothing you can do in a game which is not designed by "gamers".Remember dont forget to to fill your ships with premium air consumable to avoid citadels
