The taking 1vs 1 etc is situational if you are ahead it is mostly a good thing and vice verca, if you save your cv or so, there is no clear rule, especially late game your sacrifice can be very good if it negates enemy DD f.e. in a domination game or if enemy caps or something like that.

The fun and engaging game mechanic

It is an opinion. I think it is not as clearcut, I like that it can happen disastrous consequences, f.e. if you go into 1 vs 1 with short time remaining you know there is a chance for detonation if you are extremely lucky, and I think it belongs to naval warfare. It is RNG but not so RNG that many think. -

Kongo 8-14 inch guns with higher speed, Duk 8 guns facing fwd more health pool and faster. My point was not saying that G C is not very strong but Mr PseudoMi referred the ship as having more or less no opposition, and that is wrong. Her armour is not directly strong and against 16-inch ships like Nagato and Colorado she is inferior gunnery wise and also less Health particularly against Nagato. I have them all and I agree that GC is userfriendly to perform well in, even ships like Fuso 12-14 inchers and QR/warspite f,e. are no easy prey. Sure she can flee from many ships but then the situation must allow that. Even in fights vs NM and Az if the speed in the situation are of less importance is difficult. But for a T5 she is bordering OP, however I suspect that the drivers are above average playerbase also. -

Prinz Eugen aka Hipper and WG attitude towards her
Gnirf replied to peepoStinger's topic in General Discussion
Well while I agree that she is somewhat struggling you have to remember they are fighting T6 and T7 ships also, I think T8 vs T6 is perhaps the largest 2 tier powergap in cruisers, maybe with T10 /T8 as an exception. As you have the CE module from T8 and far larger healthpool. Hippers around 45000 against ships like Duca, Nurnberg etc they are around 27-32000 often and have no CE-module. So you can not make T8 ships too strong. They must fit against each other as well as tiers above and below. Beside some ship must and always is worst. You can not buff all the time, it might well be nerfs of other ships that are called for. And I played all silver cruisers + several premiums.- 117 replies

When you are new to the game do not buy premiums above T4/T5. This way you do not pay a lot of money to get slaughtered. However should ypu buy shipe like Ishizuchi or König Albert they will give you both extra credits and training for a limited money outlay. Your best bet if you want to spend money is grind but with a premium account if you enjoy the game and wish to play a lot. Ships are getting more expensive the higher up you climb. The advice to buy ships at your current silvership tier is correct, you will find that in any thread remotely resembling this. maybe one tier above when you start getting really experienced. Naturally if there is an excellent offer you can but and play in co-op. Or if you keep in store until further use. Now when christmas and santas gifts are coming (if they are like last year) you may be able to buy gifts containing premiums above your current level. Be careful and learn in coop if you get a T8 ship when you are at T4 or so. I bought T8 Atago when I was new at the game (a few hundred games) it went very bad, laid it off for several months. Do not do mistakes that others already have done and paid for so to speak.

The problem with a high end captain exists for all ships, I am realizing as a veteran player how hard it was early in the career to play against high end captains but it is necessary to accept a hard beginning or pay for it. Same is true when you enetr any new silvership at least above T7 I try to start with 10 points, grind them beforehand with Premiums or elite XP. Some ships are harder than others, Duca is harder than DeGrasse IMO as DeGrasse have fairly good range and is very much in line for the French cruisers on mid/higher tiers, HE spamming from distance where the CE is less of an issue. I agree with you that Duca will be useful in the future and you have an Abruzzi at T7 coming, it seems that most new premiums in the top edition (and returning campaign ships like Indianapolis atm) come s with better captains to give you a start. But that is not an option in the tech tree. You can use FreeXP also I think but that is quite expensive, even if a 10p may be possible in a 35:1 sale it is still 5000 doubloons or so. If you buying both Duca and Abruzzi when it comes you may be able to get a high end captain then if it is Duca you want. Do not know your money issues. For now I may settle for the French cruiser (I have both) if I were you as this cruiser line exists today but French cruisers are kiting and rather onedimensionalships that you can perform rather okayin with ease but it is difficult to feel that you have a large impact on the game unless you put up very high damagenumbers which you will , I have had a witherer even in LaGal so it is possible but the damage stacks up over time, you can not kill fast and you are unsuitable for DD hunting and cap contesting at the beginning at higher tiers compared to some other lines with better hydro or radar or railguns. I think DeGrasse is an Okay ship but will never be an exciting ship, she is a good trainer and useful even uptiered her range makes her usable, Duca you either like or dislike, for me I and Duca have not been a good partnership, compared with other cruisers but I can not really understand why. Her range is painful at T8. Lack of HE performance is a difficult thing.

Well EliteXp at an expensive rate is a sensible decision IMO as that always be useful, even for us that have grinded most/all ships

Well I can tell you that I was in my Mogami deliberately TKd in practise by a Gearing which launched at me from close distance and hit w 3 torps bringing me down to 2000 hp or so at the start of a game, he was first or second in the team rooster afterwards. As I got killed by enemy he did not recieved TK status. that pissed me off. We won the game but as you naturally could not perform it was waste of premcamos etc. In my mind he naturally got flogged publicly in a very painful way.

well if he burned/flooding and cost him damage the 2475 or so yours pitiful collison damage might take him down (scraping f.e.) or some teammate of yours hit him but made him to 3 health or something.

Well to say that you can not play is difficuly, also when? You must be able to test, we must tolerate players that dip their toes so to speak, you will be new to high tier play in random sometime. How do you know how much you need to play? Other things is that for us thet has been around for a while the discrepencies were smaller, most were fairly new. Now when guides on ships forums like this has been around for a while much more knowledge for free. Back in the days you have to learn it the hard way (that for me was buying an Atago). Played some games with poor results returned to low tier play, I left her for 3-4 months at least. But I do not consider it wrong to test a few games now and then , how do you else know if you are ready - yes stats sites etc but to be realistic all have not the time to look around everywhere, that must we accept. It is also so that some people may be satisfied , they may not even care about the results - have a few premiums - crap sank after 4 minutes next ship never look on the result screen, never evaluating their play. Those players will always exist.

Must be that you fired at him as collision damage is too little

Until you show some serious statistics with results team composition stats on a very high level I consider it anecdotes (placeboeffect) regardless of how correct it is. It may well be that more dedicated better players play on working days but that you as a above average players WR suffers I simply do not buy. For me some days are good some bad most slightly above average.

Play midtiers
-
Hope for ingame discounts on premiums lots of them as I have almost all
-
More teamed players during weekends? Stats on that? And as the same number of divisions statistically are on the other team no I do not think your take is realistic. If you are a above average player and the player quality goes down , meaning the average player strength in your matches, you should have a higher probability to win.
-
In the lower tiers there are often games with more evenly (poor/unexperienced players) , yes they can fold sometimes quickly, but you can if both teams are sort of bad meaning they take time to kill each other have a good chance of dealing huge numbers of damage, especially if you play the famous sealclubber ships like Nikolai or Bogatyr, the latter I have recieved over 100K in several times but you need the time to stack up fire damage and then your team can not be too good either, if both teams are good you can perform well anyway but the monstergames you need not so good players on both sides. Personally I play all tiers and find fun in the variation but mid tiers I like most T4-7.

Well one thing is that div stats are important if you face them in division as is often the case. If they are worse solo that should judge them as solo ability but if they division often with other good players over teamspeak in a sound division composition (and perhaps not if they troll) they will naturally be expected to have a good cahnce to perform well. One other thing is to adjust for the ship if that ship is out of place on the map/team composition. Let us say that you play a sealclubber like Nikolai on new dawn in T5 MM with 2 CVs and 5 DDs on each team that ships value goes down a lot even if it is a good player, while if the same ship can be seen as far stronger in a CV free T4 MM with 5 BBs and 5 crusiers and 2 DDs each side. Even if the player are good that player/ship value combination are less important if its relative chance of influence are lower due to MM etc. Yes stats over time do matter, but it is also a questin of how to value them before the match. I agree with you that playing in a division is a skill, hence why I not doing it (no voicecomm) and I am a collector player which means lots of shipchanging which is more difficult to do in a div. That is also something which needs to be adressed, if you value a player like me with lots of games and 55% WR, with my jumping around ships, I probably are better than my stats in some aspects of the game, but may perform less consistent as I change ships a lot even though I try to play with some logic, f.e. same class or so some games in a row. Apart from ranked I seldom play same ship more than 3 games (if it takes 3 to get first win), if I win first I change mostly direct. I have my favourites but with less time nowadays this is more the norm today. Newer stats are more useful than old. I have so many games now that I will be stuck on the 55%+/- 0,5% a long time forward. I have had this stats forever, my climbing up the tiers have been cancelled out by better performance in lower/mid tiers, as a stat nerd I can see that as a general rule in the various ships.

Well my best Lion game more or less AP only apart from 25000 from ramming the enemy NO (yes the one in top) when the game was over. RNG was on my side, sadly on not many other players in my team apart from 1. So frustrating when the players seem to die like flies and they hardly sink anything. But the game was close and the enemy was good, complimented SeniLix after the battle. 5 Kills in New Orleans in T9 that is impressive, and excellent XP.

Yes Think of the dock that should be used for her maintenance. Some of H-ships were totally devoid of reality, like f.e. the draught that was too deep for the German waters.
-
You play premium I presume. Otherwise that is next step. But play what is fun and what suits you. I have most premiums Nelson and Missouri included and now I am sitting on 800 K FreeXP for next ship. But I am very hesitant on DoY with no heal, One thing for credits if you have T10 ships is buying prem camos. Missouri I have had since early this year. i do not play her much, apart from credits I do not like her, more found of Alabama/NC.But spending so many doubloons for XP conversion? I do not think Missouri is worth it. The pay back time is very long. If you do not like Missouri far too long. I spent 5000 doubloons in XP conversion (on 35:1 offer) but that was the limit for me. You must compare what 27100 doubloons is in credits. If you have that problems with credits, you might be better off purchasing credits. Missouri for me is grind.

So... always have fun and play the best you can... the stats can be very very very misleading... Leo "Apollo11" I snipped this from your post Leo "Apollo11" I think this is the main thing. Stats are important but do not overdo it. If studying the stats beforehand with some mod or so will decrease your commitment then abstain. Does it improve your play or make you depressed beforehand? I look at the lineup, ships etc and draw conclusions, familiar names/players and so but not more. If the knowledge would not change the tactics it is of no use to know the ships stats for the players. If it is a competetive match thats one thing but in random too much info can spoil. Yes focus certain players can be good if you can, but for most players playing sound and to their best ability is the thing IMO. Being able to flexibility instead of hunting a certain player/ship is better for me at least. I am more aware of statistically poor divisions, fail div, 3 Biz or 3 Shimaz etc that will in most cases be bad for the teamplay. I

Absolutely , but remember to just count the extra XP not per game but the effects that the flags do. But it is also a question of time. But I agree with you completely that good usage of FreeXP flags,f.e. when it is also 100% first win etc can do a lot. Use ships that you also perform good in. I use them therefor more in Kutuzov than in higher tier ships that I often do badly in, at least when I lose. Tirpitz, bonus camo from mission and Anshan are also good freexp earners. I have only converted a few times. however now at the Halloween crates you could recieve 20000 XP in a container at a reasonable prize at least. (If you bought the max packages). So it is as you say dependant on what you have, and do not spend FreeXP unnecessary.

Agree just stupid, would not even for free , elite XP is the most important treasure in game
