How is your "Dreadnought Marathon" coming along - will you be able to get her in time?

Yesterday, but I bought the BB duo w coupon. -
Alaska & Flint - Awww Yeahhh however should "reward" ships like the Flint be available to "buy"?
Gnirf replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
I am not so sure...they got them for free, early access, now players that pay a lot and they fund the game. The CW/ranked will always be far ahead of the common players. Do not forget it is probably a fraction of players that can reach them that does not already have them which are not in some form or other already in the steel collecting business - as the new steel ships trickle in I guess that many will go for the Stalingrad thus providing incentives to go in more for ranked and CW battles. I have written a lot of responses in various threads so I do not want to repeat them. Personally I see this as an incentive to play more for the steel rewards - but I do not think I am especially after Flint or Black. Stalinggrad and other more unique designs are more interesting as a naval buff. Therefor also Bourgogne as only a variant of Alsace designwise is less interesting. personally I am not fond of locked content in all eternity as a collector. I prefer monetary gains/rewards by all means free ships but not exclusive, as they might tilt the game. Does Usain Bolt get better shoes after a win? No, he gets prize money medals etc, but the ships are the tools we compete with. -
It depends, OR may be interesting if you will play the coming RU BBs. It also depends on what you have in port now and what lines you grind in the near future. The high tier ships are very expensive coalwise buit may give more in return (and higher effect of coupon). How is your coalflow? Also important - the missions have often coal rewards (daily) + the RN arc gave lots of coal, now you have a lot in the Snowflakes. So it is also a question of your generation of coal and long term goals.

Albany`s (Tier II) 152mm AP shells... Are as good as Worchester's (Tier X) ones?
Gnirf replied to Sargento_YO's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely. Mikasa with 14 km secondaries 4 s reload and on MB 5 s reload + booster and 2,5 sigma.40 kts also. That is my hidden dream. -
Prinz Eitel Friedrich: A ship and its campaign (Steel rewards included)
Gnirf replied to Allied_Winter's topic in General Discussion
Great Stalingrad with coupon only 200+ EUR. It is a bargain -
There are many ships today that are quite meh. LWMs review is therefor a must to look at. She calls it a Mehboate and is quite specific about why, so it is highly recommendable that you look at her reviews beforehand. So if you do not have seen her reviews or heard of her before due to lack of forum visits, see this as a lesson and look out for verdicts before next ship buy. The ship could also be had for free via the campaign. I did the same judgment on DoY last year, I bought it , it was a worse version of PoW but the reviews stated it quite clearly, but it was a choice to relieve me of stress for the campaign. Therefor one can hardly blame WG per se. It is perhaps sad if they fork out ships that is necessary to buff, but better that than ships that you know from the beginning are overpowered like GC and Belfast (bought on day 1 ofc). To the statshamer: When you have a lot of games it is very difficult to change them after a while in any significant degree. Re-rolls and such is nothing that impresses me. If a player have over 50% it is at least not very productive to bring up that card. It is enough to point out that there are sources and that the OP may fall into the category of buyers that want something extra = a very strong/OP ship or does not research enough before buying. That PEF would not be OP but rather uninspiring could be found before the buy with ease.

Snowflakes - please comment with your daily progress in number of battles won and type of ships used

Coupon? -
Price of the Alaska is now out of NDA and consolidated: it will be 1M FXP
Gnirf replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Thats very impressive, but I guess you play almost only high tier and lots of flags with a relatively low number of ships? I have only 12 and 20000 games, even though many are 15-18. I have all silverships except 2 in game with 10p+ though but thats only a little over 10% of a 19 p. I have of course not played optimal for 19p captain production, probably as far away as possible. -
[Official] Wargaming Response to Steel Concerns
Gnirf replied to WarshipsPodcastEU's topic in General Discussion
Not really. In this game the rest of the game subsidize you and other CW. WGs income come from all players that buys stuff premium time etc. The difference may be that you do a particular job (CW) that pays with a reward. I play randoms instead. If you look at what a ship model costs the potato Tirpitz buyers pays for the f.e. the few Stalingrad ships. And the guy who works overtime gets paid in same currency as the guy who does not, just more of it. If you are so hellbent on defending that just your type of efforts should bring rewards and then gets angry, perhaps you should place your efforts in other games in the e-sports arena where there really is money etc to grab. I do not deny that gamers exist in this game but here there are naval buffs who collect designs something that you fail to grasp, and we invest heavily as we want as many as possible. That is also a group to entertain which WG sadly often shows disregard for. That I sometimes get coupons which may come from earlier purchases is rather meaningless if they are so restricted that hardly anything desirable except maybe premium time is counted towards discount. Considering the prizetag on the big bundles that brings a lot of money to WG to fork out new ship models etc I guess you should be happy that some players wants to pay huge sums for a small bit of Stalingrad. the value of that ship is maybe 200-250 EUR or so. If a few players really want to pay that (with more paid campaigns) the playerbase should be thankful for the funding of future content. How many Stalinggrads do you really think would be paid with money instead of at least to great extent earned? It helps players that have started late to catch up somewhat and players that by different obligations does not have time every season to play. No I do not count myself - I have made a deliberate choice to play randoms instead. Problem is also that WG shifts the means to get ships which also makes long term planning difficult. -
Oversaturation? Now "Ranked Sprint #3 & #4" are here as well for the Holidays...
Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I remembered when I got to the Hall of Fame section in the RN events = saturday when I finished stage 4, I played ranked sprint as a win in ranked (only that mattered and counted also, not sunken ships or achievements) were quite good value 100-120 something, if you have a decent winrate that should be alright in points. -

Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well OP; I suppose it depends on the sync between f.e. Ranked sprint fights and the other missions. If they can be performed to a degree at the same time, the problem is less, especially if you are not in in the CW thing. But I can also feel the burn out stress after RN event etc, but I prefer to have too many events than toó few. Learn to choose. It is like going to the pub and become angry for that they have 250 different brands instead of 3. -
[Official] Wargaming Response to Steel Concerns
Gnirf replied to WarshipsPodcastEU's topic in General Discussion
Competetive players are relatively limited. If they fork out a massive amount of ships behind walls that only a few participate in, the rest of the players subsidize you and others. Do not forget that there is a player type that does not fall into the categories of competetive and casual players. It is the collector and naval buff for me access to a ship is driven by my interest. I have nothing against that some ships are difficult to get, but you already have a vast number of ships that you will own long before me. I will not go into cW participation/and in the long run balance in randoms if there are ships that are OP/strong and only accessible to some players. I have also invested time , money and effort in my 20000 games, I have nearly all ships, barring the steel ships. I have some steel, that there is a multitude of ways to encourage participation in ranked /CW by giving out some steel through other means is good, it is quite a long way to the Stalingrad/Bourgogne from this events and to get all steel ships both current and future should need ranked/CW success. Think of this perspective - what about some ships that only those super huge collectors like myself can get, naturally very powerful ships, how about that? I agree that effort should be rewarded but there are different approaches to what efforts should be acceptable. The difference is that I have put in my effort in random battles + a few ranked for the lower rank rewards. i know that I would have been good enough to reach R1 as several have reached that rank with lower skill than me but I prefer the random battles, it is more of a grind the 2-300 battles or what a player like me would have needed. In both Ranked sprint T5, I reached R1 comfortably. + Sadly they do not have a small steel prize for R1 - 1000-1500 or so. This would encourage players like me who are willing to put in effort but would like to have reasonably fun during the play. Many short Ranked sprints would therefor have been nice. I can assure you with some steel events I personally feel larger urge to participate more in at least ranked in the future, CW I am sadly part of a clan with few members interested in CW and will have to evaluate the future there. -
True, but hope for a new offer around late april as there was the only known sale then. I have bought for the T10 ships + a few others but with 50% off I may buy for a few more which now is uninteresting. With 1700 or so Premium one-use camos it is almost difficult to get rid of them faster than I earn new through missions, crates etc.

Well if you want a christmas present Alabama is a good choice and more suited to other US captains than Massachusetts, as that ship needs a dedicated captain. If you like others say play in coop you should be alright, but you need far more experience first in random. But the buying thing is not the same as playing thing.

As a T3 ship it is possible to use various design proposals before the Gangut class, which are for example various Vickers designs or from the Port of St Petersburgs office with twin turrets (p200 ff) McLaughlin, Russian and Soviet battleships. Now as traits for Russian battleships, I would give rather slow loading but long ranging guns and heavy shells, because they were so built in the lower tiers. Weak torpedo protection, rather thin armour but large zones of side armour which are decent against HE spam less so against AP shells. very bad AA and moderate speed except for the Borodino class battlecruisers which seems interesting. We know that the 12/14 inch guns of the WW1 Era had heavy shells compared with other nations. Nikolai was very OP but the Gangut design with turrets 2 and 3 pointing inwards are inferior in WOWs to Nikolais 3 forward turrets pointing forward. I also think that Nikolai is far less OP now than before, the other navies ships have their gunrange buffed and the ship is slow. Ships like Orion introduced. That it punishes newbies is beyond doubt but it has weaknesses.

New life for Tier 2 to Tier 4 Premium ships
Gnirf replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
I can not give enough upvotes for this as this would be a great opportunity to use ships and also allow Daily missions in scenarios. It should be easy to code as valid regardless of tier. -
True as you always win in Co-op unless bad times where there are almost only AI even in your team. Have grinded LM in Coop a lot and such boring two-three ship grind (in order to change immediately after getting sunk) is time effective in T10.
-
You really need luck OP. The rare ones are possible to get, but it often requires you to have almost all other "easy" drops.
-
Seattle w range module is tolerable, it is not the first ship I skip. Suggest you wait however, other ship lines are easier. While the dpm is OK sometimes lack of torps is not fun when players rush you.

Santa's gifts are here! Please, share your loot.
Gnirf replied to Episparh's topic in General Discussion
Yes, have them all too. This year I therefor buy none, but last year more than 100 of various sizes to get the last 5 (kamikaze second last, Gremy last). Still have a 200+ Frosty Fir Camo. The chasing of these last ships is really an addictive drug. -
If you have the Nikolai (like I do) , you know why other BBs have less accurate guns at low tier.

Co-Op Player - Got the Yamato, could get Musashi from Arsenal for Coal or save for Jean Bart - Which to choose?
Gnirf replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Congratz! Jean Bart will arrive soon also then! -
I will probably go Man Sec on my Massa, (Iowa), have already more conventional 19 p US BB captains in NC and Montana. But will probably most use Massa in Coop - got her in SC so I have the other US Premiums for normal play and all Silver ships. I like the guns on US ships so Massa is therefor not my first choice. But a secondary build for coop suits me ok then.

You get to play only 1 ship in 2019! Which one it is ?
