What should happen to the Giulio Cesare? - The Complete Poll
Gnirf replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
A few comments: Your poll is better but does not differentiate between players that A/ Have GC /B/ Do not HAVE IT also between freeriders or practically so with only a few ships f.e.. Personally I have voted unchanged, as the precedent it may set is too dangerous customerwise. I have spent a lot myself on both OP and UP premiums as a collector, also in huge numbers of crates and how do you pay back that? If you buy f.e. 100 crates to get a few advertised ships, because quite frankly thats why you buy huge numbers of crates, do not need more camos, I have so many perma camos so i more or less waste my 1800 or so single use camos on T5 ships and a few high tiers which I do not buy prema camos to just to have some use of them, in the 50% off perma camos rebates I have stocked up even more so the "value" of crates is next to zero , its the ships , steel or whatever that is interesting. To offer a token sum of say 5000 doubloons is laughable if you spent 2-300 EUR on crates on the advertisement that you get the really hard to get ships. F2P riders may have balance concerns but as they do not pay anything they do not have huge numbers of ships bought for a predetermined set of quality as described in tests like LWM and forum reports etc. Therefor even if they are entitled to have a view their answers should be seperate from those who have the boat or others that might be in same category. If a ship is OP then withdraw it from sale and use same model as Giulio Ceasre B at T6 - simple as that as soon as results confirms it is to good, or have the Premiums sold and are nerfable within a certain timeperiod of say a two months when you retier or nerf/buff whatever with full refund - not ships that are included in crates where you do an other calculations as a collector /player of other kind. -
PSA: Free captain respec/demount ends tonight.

Thx for headsup and do not forget MOVING Captains is also free. Apart from some reset on all reserve skills I moved my 14 p Lyon reserve captain to Normandie (The other Honore brother took the place on Lyon). I have made some other reshuffles as well. -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Gnirf replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Because you might want Kraken/High caliber and other achievements (not uncommon in the campaigns or missions) and they are often scored in the dying moments of the game when the match result in itself is given. It is pretty rare that the fights are extremely drawn out, if you are on the losing side Dreadnoughts and such achievements is also often winnable, it is not uncommon for your best results to be in lost/won drawn out fights. If you want to win a basically dead fight you can try some aggresive move which sometimes succeed. To promote early surrender is a crime against the idea. You can turn around hopeless fights sometimes, and if the points are bad (f.e.in domination) the end will not be far away anyway as the points gather fast -
[ poll ] Giulio Cesare, you want her to stay in T5 or move to T6?
Gnirf replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
But you forget the Christmas Crates. While I personally bought GC as a normal premium the first week it came out , I have spent forunes of christmas crates to get Gremy and Nikolai and they were advertised as the method to get these ships just like Musashi, Missouri. -
No fantasy names of course, To think of Yamato with names like Cuddly pink SJW? Urrrkkk!

Your poll is useless if you do not have unchanged option! What is it that you do not understand! Naturally every option you have in the poll is off limits and therefor you got no value of it. -
Had decided not to play CVs at the beginning but when the "Bug" with Snowflakes lasted 1 day I had to collect the steel, naturally in coop. Lost more games today than in months, but with 1-2 human CVs and rest bots they kill each other and despite having in some games some hits with the rockets and a few torps, the bots AA seemed huge in some games, Divebombing was very hard, and had almost no hits, could not find a explaining video how to do it (but had little time) so I just tried to get my steel 2x T10 and 3xT8 premiums. Nevertheless I can guess that it is a gameplay that I will tire of pretty quick. I will try again in some days when there hopefully have been published a few tricks. I had not played on PTS before so this was my first games.

Gascogne/Alsace were discussed as follow on JB/Rich so hardly pure fantasy.

Yes I know and thats why a play a few games in coop actively avoiding CVs until the first impressions start, grinding LU modules only more or less. If we look at a probably overpopulation in CVs at the begining you might choose a captain spec desperately against 2-3 CVs /team for that instead of 1 or 0. I am not certain I will try the Cvs the nearest weeks but I have 270+ ships. I have not time to experiment on every non-cv ship. The CVs themselves I can spec later. I will probably try a few different tiers/ships then to see how strong the AA is and looking at a few guides on how to handle the attacking aircraft. I used the LM button and targeted squadrons so have to look up how to handle it now.
-
I wil play coopå only for some days, resetting all captains except those limited nr of ships I play in Coop and follow the forums. After a few days I will spec a few ships and being on the recieving end so to speak in randoms. I think that the respec period is to short so that is my method of dealing with it.

I think I agree with you there, you can have good games in any ship, screenshots of good games by various players indicate that. I have played PEF to solve all the missions, especially that last credit grinds it was narturally nice to have the ship. But I can not say that I enjoyed the experience, while 28 kts are fast it is not by any means exceptional in the META, Normandie and Kongo and the soon to come RU bbs match or surpass that. When i play BBs I am looking for guns like Warspites hard hitting precise guns or the shotgun effect of 12 barrels in f.e. Fuso, Normandie or the USN ships, that is fun. If I play German I rather play my König which are far more competetive at its tier. I have 19 p and I rather play her at T7 than PEF at T8. I am afraid I will very seldom play her, despite having 19 p captains to put in her. I have better choices , lots of them which I have a larger chance to get good games in. Now all ships can not be perfect but your comment fits nicely. Why should we/I play her? Ofc for those who has few ships and hardly any premium such a ship is valuable to take advantage on first win bonuses and so, for me not at all, She will be a port queen like many other ships in my collection, and I doubt that she will have a chance of comeback unless buffed. I have found sometimes old ships that I played long ago that I have taken a new interest in, especially as I try to identify ships that may shine more with excellent captains. PEF I have already identified as not the best choice even with 19p.

Naturally you can have 2 versions at T4 and T5 with 1 fantasy ship at T5, there were 4 ships in the class. But A-H does not have the design (cramped) to easily upgrade, but naturally WG is not unfamiliar with that just look at the Lyon! That speed and all guns, insane! In the literature the modernization plans for Normandie gets to around 24-25 kts at best and its successor Lyon were hardly more suited. The Normandies were scrapped instead as the french navy needed lighter ships and the rebuild were to take such long time perhaps finished in 1927 or so gibven postwar economy. Even though I know it is a game, we are lots of naval enthusiasts that plays it and when they step too far off reality my own reaction is NEGATIVE!! -

Well if the Dreadnougth start at T3, other nations must start there too and at least not 2 levels above. I prefer historical ships not articifically buffed. To compare VU (1 st real A-H ship) with König (4th German class), Iron Duke (ridiculus nr of GB class), New York and Kongo is insane. Your comment totally lacks realism IMO. -

No, as T3 BBs in general are hardly overpowered, VU was too small for its arnament and belong to the first generation dreadnoughts, albeit with different layout. Due to budget constraints they were quite small, and they were even themselves quite aware of it. -

Its more the 6 inch guns fwd and aft which are strong with no interfering superstructure, but health pool is small and speed, I am surprised as Erzatz designs with 10x14 exists but never oredered due to outbreak of WW1. I wpould also nerf it and keep it at T4, I do not want of non-historical buffs to the few real ships that could exist in Pan European line -
Well @Rusty_9 you have got almost all already. Allow me to add a few comments. Storing 10 pointers is a great idea. As other have said the key is to get the first 19 pointer but nevertheless numbers is also important, a 19 p costs around 1,700,000 Elite XP and 10 p 180 000 roughly. As a new player key is to play higher tiers from say 7-8 with at least 10 p, but it is a diminishing return for further points. It is so expensive to get the first 19 p and rather boring to push same ship(s) in game after game. The usage of first win bonus is also important = playing variety of ships. The cost of moving gets also even if you have eliteXP up a lot, so a captain that moves too frequently takes a lot of XP each transfer. Personally I prefer to store at 10-12 and not further up than 14. It might be better to endure a 10-12 pointer on a ship and use the elite XP when the transfer has been made. I think it is also good to have several captains on same line especially when you have premiums that might differ a little in requirements and also if you are a player like me. My captain tacticts have not been optimal and I would have transfered a lot more if I would have started all over, I started a 3 p on every ship in the befginning and sold nothing, but the game were less mature then and the relative number of low end captains were probably less earlier, the flags etc were only Zulu hotel so it was more timeconsuming to grind captains, not to mention that elite XP did not exist and a different skill tree in 5 levels. But after say 1 year or so especially when elite XP was introduced and I began more seriously following forums and advice, I started to have some goals that I have made harder as times goes on. First I as a collector needs captains on all ships but my number reasoning is still valid somewhat. 10 p captain is the goal in random battles at least on t7-8 and up, if not a captain is available I grind in coop and/or play elite captains until I get one, only when I grind a new line in low tiers I may step away. Ships that need (not benefit but really need) IFHE = 14 p so I get both CE and IFHE. I have now nearly all premiums so I hve vast possibilities to train captains. I also try to find low tier silver/premium ships that are OP/good with low end captains to train new 10 p if needed for that country, try to follow /plan next tech trees you will grind. I have soon 8 10 pointers for Italy and 7 10-12 p for RU BBs 5 for French DDs as I expect those to be useful in the future. GC is useful for traing new captains a premium ship that is playable with low end captains. Likewise French D-T french T4 cruiser I find is useful in randoms with low end, combine that w De grasse and it gets fairly OK. The problem is that it will take a while befopre your fleet has been balanced for captain production but time will come.

Free captain respec one week isn't enough
Gnirf replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I would say that if the options are limited. Do a few free periods say 1 week after every coming 3 patches so we have time to react to the META and also to those who are on vacation etc and do not have time. I have 270+ ships, it is impossible to do this seriously otherwise. As of now I will probably reset most if not all captains and then play only a few ships, follow the forum discussions etc. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Gnirf replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
The game in König today is not special XP/damagewise but it is fun achievement wise, 3 Close quarter Expert is not that common. -
The 2 gap difference also gives more variation, back in the days there were 3 and you could division so you could play with Umikaze against Yamato.

Cossack gets a torp reload buff - Why not Haida (Cossack-lite)?
Gnirf replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Well, you can have ships that are more suited to high skilled players IMO. It gives more variation and challenge. But regardless, often when we look at ships we look at the sites with stats. But what is the average captainpoints on Haida compared to Cossack. How is the curve of performance vs player skill. Haida is part of a very limited tree and Cossack now part of a large tree. It benefits Cossack a lot, but you must be able to take into account that on a ship. If the Haida have a average captain on 12 , what do you perform with same on Cossack. What if the average captain on Haida is 6,7 and on Cossack 15? Only Wg knows. I have seen threads when there were comparisons of tanks I think it was ( I can not remember now which thread) and they show how the performance of certain ships varied a lot among the playerbase. Haida are easily a ship that could be well to strong against its Tier interval. The T5 DDs are generally quite behind the T7 and they do not need bigger gap. -
Decent König game , and considering the game was T5 level I thought I did my part but sadly very few of the others, the DD div after me played on my side (left) on Solomons so the right side completely collapsed without doing nearly any damage. Well was overwhelmed in the end. However as usual you often gets best damage results in games where the game dfrags on so you have the time to do damage. However after all PE missions, it was nice to return my captain to my König as this ship is so much better. König I have always liked and playable uptiered far better than PE, and stronger in mid/low tier. As it is T5 game with lots of new players I held back any harsh remarks. one of our CVs were AFK it seemed so it was bad from the start, as it is unfair to others in our team also.

Yes, could do some structurebuilding in clan but twhen trying starting a battle , just nothing. Logging out again.

True, it is not fair that new players should not be able to play suffer that gem. And then the Freexp were so rare that you just had to endure. But she looked nice, strange that the T5 Yamashiro premium has not arrived yet. 13 km range or so...
