I would like to offer a different perspective. To have good clan battles and other things we also need diversity and that means individual clans, run separately. If the clans are too big they will advance too fast making it impossible to design the port and facilities and their growth decently. A good number of clans would have too many members for clan battles. It is also very difficult for us to recruit new members who are small clans if all free members goes to the big clans and be say CLAN10 of a familiar name. Think of the following things: Is it good for clan battles to have many or few clans In clan battles is it ok that same clan should play with number of teams instead of having separate teams Is it good or bad to have many that can lead a clan With a limited number of players I think we must think of what is the optimal distribution of clans in numbers and size Yes it is easy for leaders to point out but start a new clan, but may forget that if the size and other things like facility growth will if they are too large makes it hopeless for new clans or small clans to grow as their members will go to the large clans. What is the benefits then? Yes I have taken over a dormant clan very recently as the clan leader and some others ceased its activity. Yes if I would not have done that I would have moved to another clan larger. If so that clan would have died - that is of course a natural development. But do you feel if it is only positive if the clans say would allow 100 or 200 members and the effect would be that the clan numbers go down enourmusly? Would that be good or bad? What is the optimal size? Surely you must agree with that is healthy if there are many clans? And also that the development of clan facilities i.e. how fast you improve them must be designed with clansize in mind. Let me tell you I do not know the optimal size but I am convinced that it is a limit to what size a clan should be visavi the playerbase and a healthy number of clans for different activities. It is not different than football teams - it is not healthy to be too large in squad. Yes many are interested in a community - it is a sad thing that many are huge but I think we need many teams and clans. Because the community is driven from other perspectives - you can have a large numbe rof say English World of warships fans in same community- but clans in World of warships have also to fulfil other perspectives, as the goals are different. I hope you find some of it worth discussing

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Is the Italian playerbase so small that they can not have a single line before FRench get 3? By all means French DDs are interesting but a widening of tech trees should also be a priority. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Gnirf replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Its about getting the right game at the right time. I was left standing with 168 hp after enemy CVs last two bombruns, 1st he got me down to 168 last he missed all by me turning at the right moment and very unfortunate (Dreadnougt , Fireproof) so 5 achievements. Thats one of my best Nelson games so far So finished first stage, I had 4 left so even 1 to spare! (spammed this in Exeter thread as well , could not resist ) -

Questions about Twitch-container-drops
Gnirf replied to anonym_JSqwZct68BEw's topic in General Discussion
I am curious what value is in the containers. Let us say that it is a few camos and it distracts you from playing the game, you miss the regular 3 one or say get 1 less? I hve seldom watch stereams unless it is Q&A or the like. I prefer to play so what do I miss? One reason is also that I watched a lot of the W&W stream last week in the hope of ASC give aways but did not saw any give away or codes then , but I missed a few minutes some times so I might have been unlucky. -
Do not move a captain between premium as their home just change skills in the free reset I suppose will come soon in 0.8.2. As a collector I start always a new captain on every ship with few exceptions. With the instroduction of elite xp and also my larger number of premiums and 19 p captains, no captain except low tier starts at lower than 10 p. If necessary I may play in coop should a new line that depletes eliteXP too fast. F.e the RN DDs where I got all 4 ships by missions instead of usual grind I did not have enough elite XP for all 4 as 10 p then. high tier cruisers and DDs that demand IFHE like RN DDs started on 14 p. For the RU BB line I have 7 premade 10-12 pointers (N ikolai, missions, Arsenal etc), and for future Italian 8 10 p future French DDs 5 10-12 p. + a lot of Elite XP. Below T5 I accept starting with lower captain. It is abalnce between making functional captains (10-14 depending on ship) and the 19p as the difference is almost 10 times the XP from 10 to 19. I have risen my demands step by step. But getting 19 p in silver ships that you play and which can be used in premiums are a goal for you. Also when you begin amassing T10 ships it is worth investing in Perma camo not only for the credits but for the generation of elite XP when the captain reaches 19. But you should have fun playing the ship, I have 19 p f.e. on König and KGV which I play a lot. I have mismanaged my captains a lot in terms of optimizing placement, have moved them too little, but how much? It is expensive to move if you are F2P, and have no money to spend but I would have moved more in retrospect to get 19p in my T10s faster, I have only 6-7 but I concentrate on them now during my leg upgrade grind which I do in coop with permacamos which gives boring but efficient grind.

The Daily missions rewards have not been updated with the reward each day after the Crown/Florin Days. It was always presented earlier months @The_EURL_Guy

I agree that Dreadnoughts /Fire proof in a BB is the best if you have them. A cofederate in a BB might also be possible in the firespewing ships if the game develops well so you can fire at muliple targets and set them on fire/blapp them. I have some Confeds in my KGV/Warspite, in Warspite I go for AP only but mixes in the KGV. Fortunately I can use all RN ships as they are in my port.

As I have played a lot in most ships up to T10 in random solo play, what is so strange with the assumption that I performed as quote better (less worse) in the non utility ships than in utility ships like DM with its radar and therefor a ship that is better to utilize in divisions that f.e. Zao/Kutuzov that are less dependant on divisions to perform in. It is the relative performance that helps deducing, not absolute. And the fact that I play lots of low tier is because I like the look of the early ships with smokestacks, the real ships Dreadnoughts etc. Now I play mostly midtiers as there are the real ships in randoms. Chikuma I played 85 % in my first 2000 games or so as I did not grind during the first months of my game. Ofc that still makes this number huge for as long as I live. Where is the conneseur speak in that? Have I claimed that I perform well in DM? No I know its bad, its among the worst in My shipcollection, and also old performance as it was an early line. One thing I struggle with is the coordination with DDs to use its radar and therefor its impact, which is more important to help the team in that ship. In other ships it is other things they bring to the table that does not necessary needs voicecom to perform better in. Explain the wrong reasoning in that. Naturally we do not know how much it would have improved the results but it is likely that would have been the case. If you insult people explain what is the problem! I have played more games than most as a collector so why should I not be able to see which ships that suits me more than others. if the relative performance in 1 ship is 43 and another is 50 what is the difference of deducing how it suits you with those numbers or if you have 53/60. I have played for 3 years - you have no idea during which time I have played the ships in the statistics that you refer to or what my goals in the game were at that time, caring of gameplay, tactics etc. I am also a collector meaning that I earlier started every captain from scratch, not any longer ofc but earlier. Other players may do rerolls to avoid post like yours- I do not care. So what is your basic serious objection?

Fly! Strike! Win! Event - Non-paid Crowns and Florins Estimates
Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I have 210 Crowns and 1400 Florins. That figure I think includes all daily missions maxed out, naturally all in the directives and 1 container for server issues and 1 clan battle container (naval battles last weekend) That includes buying Exeter (4K doubloon refund= 100 more crowns) 310 Crowns-150 =160 x8 = 1280 = 2680, the two noncalculated does not matter and I would still have had a few to spare. That is ofc that I do fix the Exeter last stage. But I have made all 3 so far. Is it worth it? For 1 10 p commander lots of flags? Probably for me with less time nowadays. Is it fair? Somehow the game has to be funded, I think it is OK to pay for early access though I think the prizes in general is too high. -
Maybe I was unclear, ofc i saw that. Therefor I look fwd to same thing being repeated in WOWs as the player numbers are smaller though it will possibly only made the percentage differences larger. But how about the Bellcurve and distribution of player skill in the teams? or do you just simplify and say this does not matter (it was too long ago since i studied statistics, sorry for the dumb question).
-
Hi there I am also interested in this and commend you for your efforts. Now, I am may be thick but a few Points. Depending on what we want to show, WOWS with 12 players are probably more interesting as the individual player is a larger part. Now I am not sure on if I understood correctly, you just added the numbers for the 15 th player to the 14 Dice value? Now how would the very strong bellcurve affect the results, were the distribution too even between the players. What I mean is that the majority of players in the wr distribution is average and outliers might be a lot in the forum but not in the overall players pool. Is the results markedly different if you have a random players in the 12 (15 ) team that are distributed with equal chance of being 50/60/70/80 /90 player or if you have a distribution like the bellcurve that we know exists in WOWs. For the individual that are around average the impact in the long run if he is average would be the same regardless but the longer you get from the average you impact more (my thesis that would be interested to simulate) if you know you are better. I remember a long time ago when just checked the distibution in WR regardless of games the % of people that had over 60% were very small a few % and the numbers that had over 55 were 10-15 maybe. so that would make you as a average one of many but as a unicum (60%+?) quite rare. I am not sure on how to formulate it more presicely. I notice that when I play high tiers I have only few ships that I know enough to influence the game in a positive manner, most average i.e. your efforts on average often does not influence the game, some negative, not only in the % but also in the way the game feels, did I felt to have an impact or do I potato again, in the midtier I think I have it in most of the ships that I play at the moment frequently (do not look at stats many was ages since I played, also as a collector I have played all ships even those that does not suit me). Sadly this is maybe difficult to simulate but as a soloplayer I feel it difficult to play the utility ships like DM, I Think that these ships are more suitable to div play and therefor I seemed to play better (less worse) in ships that are less dependent on cooperation, yes you try to play for the team but you bring ships that gives other kind of utility than radaring/smoking where the coordination is far more important (voicecom etc). What i mean is that skill is also to choose ships that suits your playstyle and if you are div or not. That means that you influence your personal outcome in your choices. That affects your win rate. I have made a lot of choices that affects my WR negatively, and I Think many discussions evolve does skill influence your WR without taking all factors into play, How can you influence your WR is very interesting. Your simulation shows it with statistical brutality, given some random skill, but the individual player can influence more by his choices and the way he plays. I was quite shocked when I played the ranked sprint, compared with some earlier ranked or random play when I played my favourite König ship most of the time. Even if the games were few the results was way above my normal WR, perhaps I am better at least on those tiers then I thought when I concentrate. But I have loomed around 55% for a very long time (annoying).

Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
You can get crowns in the Arsenal and then exchange for Florins (max 3 packages) -
T2 Mikasa T3 maybe Bellerophon nowadays (longer range than Dreadnought) or Nassau/KA T4 Ishizuchi/Nikolai T5 König T6 Warspite/arizona T7 KGV T8 NC/alabama T9 None T10 Montana Favourite tier overall is T6 I have all silverships on every tier, but some of the ships I have played too little in randoms or too long time ago.

Yes they do, but if the 300 barrier is the current one , it is that barrier that you fix.

Your favorite cruiser: Tier for tier
Gnirf replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
1. Black Swan 2. Chikuma (prenerf) 3. Bogatyr 4. D-T 5. Maybe Exeter, the other ships I have played so little last year or so 6. Budyonny/Leander 7. Can not really decide maybe Fiji 8. Chapayev/Kutuzov 9. I am not fond of anyone maybe Buffalo 10. Zao -
This! look at what you get in the packages, if you value a 10 p RN captain and all the flags it is lots of special flags and even more ordinary so value that for you. That is why I bought the Exeter as that gives lots of extra, the doubloon return pays for the crowns in the arsenal + 5 extra containers. The Florins is the key.

RNDDs /French BBs yes we kept them

Fly! Strike! Win! Event - Non-paid Crowns and Florins Estimates
Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
You would not be able to get the T8 without money even if you would have fixed everything from start, depending on WGs flow or lack of the last week. -
Hardly any problem as the drops in the normal daily containers will get you there for free in the end. At least 50% of the dailes gives you items. I have it all completed and so will you, but do not forget to toggle in the collection that you should have them in the normal containers.

Have you searched all soundcloud tracks? I have found more or less all tunes from the start, it is several hundred so i am afraid you have to search for it yourself. My favourite in the map OST World of Warships Red sun Artur Toktash , that start I like very much.No 17 maybe in that list I get first when I open up It is still played in the game quite often.

Is there going to be another set of directives.
Gnirf replied to The_Aegis's topic in General Discussion
Dont forget to calculate with the extra good flags (7x7) + standard and the 10 p captain - it is worth something
