[Poll] Do you miss the Directives in WoWs update v0.9.3. ?
Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Lots of players have requested a campaign so I am quite pleased, that you can not have more than 2/3 selected makes it last longer so longer duration and less stressful. One does not have to do everything , just repeating. I was ready with stage 1 yesterday (not all missions) and I concentrate to fix the campaign, doubling suitable tasks if necessary then mop up the ones still left. I have several left from earlier campaigns even if all are finished endrewardwise. i would have preferred no timelimit as for Halsey and Yamamoto but 6 months should be enough. No complaints this time. Voted No. -

An OK Montana Game, Highlight : when you dev strike the enemy CV at distance, then you know it is your game. I have my Halsey on Montana but I have not played the ship much. This result is therfor my best in the ship, nothing compared with the specialists but I am happy and the 160 K dmg campaign task was fortunately ticked. -
Captain: a new one for every ship, for some, or migrate?
Gnirf replied to SolanumTuberosumRex's topic in General Discussion
What others have said, but some captains may be OK to grind in coop if you see it as a long term project. I play lots of coop , early in the morning.Very late when I lack concentration, while I eat etc. Switching between a hockey/football match and Wows (not now ofc but other times). I have lots of high tier premiums T9 and 10 and they are OK to play in coop with their 100% XP camo and gives pretty Ok result, especially if you can play same captain on a few. I am f.e. grinding my Kremlin captain in Smolensk/Stalingrad in coop while I grind the reseted RU BB line currently at T9 in random, it is a 17 p Soyus captain so OK to play. What this mix of random/coop play does is pretty time efficient and saves the special flags for special occasions. First win of the day effect of. I play so long sessions so I just can not concentrate enough to play random all the time, that combined with the boring meta at Tier 10. Lots of T10s w Permacamos ensures OKish eliteXp generation. Some ships especially mid tier BBs are not so sensitive to 10 p captains so they can be grinded pretty easily. I also play coop while I am talking over phone with friends etc. -
Its one of the true AP ships, but I do not think it is more than other BBs.
-
I have always enjoyed US BBs from the start, have ofc played all lines , even reset most of them with grinding all ships again or in progress thereof. The only exception is German BBs which I am not so sure I will reset. My favourites are the even numbers Wyoming - very strong with 12 12 inch guns at T4, the number of guns are effective even aginst optimistic DDs, I have also always enjoyed T6 NM and T8 NC.They are compact and while in NMs case slow she is quite agile in turns and as a short ship a more diff ship to hit with torps from further away if you WASD enough. So the T5 7 and 9 has never enjoyed the same appreciation from me. I have 19 p on T6, 8, 9 and 10. The premiums are also oK to very good. I have all of the normal premiums, except Arkansas Beta, incl. Ohio and Georgia. In practice this have meant that due to economical factors I have played the T8 Alabama more than NC and Arizona which is a better NM in most respects more than the silver lines but they are good enough to play a lot. I have always enjoyed the classical IJN and US BB lines most, gimmick free teaching and rewarding BB play as it should be IMO .

Fine uptiered (T10) Vladivostok game which also concluded my 4th Fight with us mission. Only irritating thing was that the enemy amalfi sank me with seconds to go (points win) which would have netted me Dreadnought (maybe fireproof) which would have given more points in HoF , but relieved that I have fixed all possible containers now. -
Well earlier there were full lines more these are part lines and maybe RN/RU is roughly 1 full line in terms of work.
-
I doubt that the Cv population will go up much except for a limited rise when they are launched. I do not think that there will be much new players rather from the existing CV base.
-
They are perhaps not for beginners but I think they are interesting and different. Have you played all DD lines? They are also different in relative strength as the ones higher up get very fast torps while the Visby , not so much.

What ships are most resistant to "difficult" teams?
Gnirf replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
This. nowadays this can not be emphazised enough. I play my now 5 SWE DDs in coop until I have enough captain XP for 10p (which I now have on T8-9). -
What ships are most resistant to "difficult" teams?
Gnirf replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
As for ships that I find most independent of teams if we exclude below tier 5, I would say that for me personally I take König at T5, decent speed and reload, relatively good vs DDs (10 guns decent reload and useful secs) Ok tanky, can handle relatively well being uptiered. Izmail at T6 lacks secs, slow turret traverse but have good speed and excellent main artillery. At high tiers Zao usually is able to perform decent regardless of teams but have less impact in my hands than the two previous ships. Naturally for unicums in Cvs that is the go to ships but not for me. -
I am curious of when you became an Alpha player. Were this advertised in gaming magazines or to WoT players only or how, likewise with Beta, I know there were some buy in there but how was that info advertised?. I guess Alpha participated in Beta if they wanted? Sadly many have ended, pity those Iwaki and Arkansas ship are not transferable for me as a collector I like these models.

Now on T8 in my reset grind of RU BBs , second Vladi game today was decent, always feel good when you doing your job as a Top tier BB which wer made easier when the DDs that helped me against enemy DDs stayed spotted and fought and the enemy DDs suddenly realizes that 6 AP shells can hurt and gives the extra damage that our DDs can capitalize on. However it was a risky play that could have been punished against better DDs i am the first to admit that. But I rather have my enemy in front of me. -
Maybe time to introduce Heroic (and Honorable?) medals which caters to Destroyers (and maybe CV?)
Gnirf replied to Brinckie's topic in General Discussion
Honorable medals like First blood and Dev tsrike (and deonation) are otoh catering to the DDs. -
I think the game is still OK. More ships have been added. It is however much to learn for a newcomer when we oldies have had opportunity to learn them gradually. It is different to learn 1 tech tree at a time and for a newcomer it is a massive amount of figures. i do have most vital stats in my head., but that is gradually learned by having most ships, playing huge numbers of battles and interest in the subject. I think the forum is interesting but the amount of whining is sometimes too much, you will get bored after a while, especially if you are a gamer and not a warship buff. So I still think that there are no game-stopping moves from WGs part. Subs can be one but I just wait and see. My variety of ships ensures that I do not get bored. My own tricks: Set goals, enjoy different ships, can you get good in a bad ship, play when you like it not because you have to, take WGs missions not too seriously, in the beginning we had almost nothing , a weekly 5 stage mission, where the endgoal was difficult, score a Kraken T8 + and win and survive for 10 camos. So I manage usually to get almost everything, but even if you play little you get more than in the start. Player quality is impossible to address, the longer the game matures, you will become better, thus seeing other players mistakes better , but you also get a difference in skill that is more pronounced than before. Accept that, that is nothing WGcan do anything about, happens in all games. Stay positive, if you are negative do not make it worse by staying in forums too much and add fuel to your negativity. Better take a break for a few weeks then come back. This is entertainment and the game is niche, which therefor will have to cater to a wide type of players and also a wide array of moneymaking schemes. Overall, I still have fun, why would I otherwise put 15-25 hours weekly in it? many says it is only fun in divisions - well it is an aspect that I have not used much, have played solo and i win usually enough for the enjoyment to stay - I go to some favourites if i t is difficult. The major negatives today are for me the ranked, that everything is T10. Gimicky arms race modes in ranked. Too much RNG in events. The devaluation of assets, FreeXP, Coal, steel that makes it difficult to evaluate flags etc, that is regardless of prizing.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Gnirf replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Met @Jethro_Grey and @WalterEKurtz71 just now in same team, but the game can we just forget, even thought it was Ok for me. Finished T7 regrind of the RU bbs so now T8 always something..... -
Absolutely, we are a 26 player clan but usually it is only 3 players that bothers with naval battles. So if you are 1-2 active it is certainly worthwhile but the problem for you might be the qualification, you prep monday to thursday and have to accumulate enough XP and as there is a limit of what you can contribute . You need 5-6 active players so try to make the clan a little larger. in the fight Friday to Sunday there is a MM so you will be pitted against similar clans resultswise. You win maybe 21-2 in a row then you face a stronger clan and gets wiped down. Our clan are in the 15-25 pointbracket and over the monthgs this is a valuable source for oil, but again it is not the match that is a problem for you it is the qualification. Do not forget to toggle the button on /off when you play if you want the fight to count, you got only 10 attempts/player. So if you grind a certain ship it is advisable to switch it off after 2 battles. It is better to spread out the battles among several ships, the points system awards that.

Yes, amongst the more modern ships I am very fond of Aigle and Le Terrible in their camos, but I came to the conclusion that apart from the already mentioned Albany and Mikasa, I must throw in Oleg the premium Bogatyr. I guess too few people bought it so they could not easily show it.

To play a good game in Sinop is by no means a extraordinary performance but 2518 XP and 180 K Dmg I am pleased with as bottom tier , battletier 9 more specifically. There were several T7 so by no means unbalanced. Also good considering the Fight with us mission base XP demands. The enemy had 2 Sinop and 1 Soyus so they had the RU Bias advantage -
Västerås w two turrets backfiring can probably be rather good in a kiting role, I have been playing very opportuinistic in the Östergötland but that is the only ship that I have played in random and its just 1 game so my reasoning is more theorethical. But i have played them a lot in coop and you can at least get a feel for angles and guns. This due to I have no elite XP for the Swe DDs and managed to get enough for Östergötland yesterday so I could start that ship in a random game (By elite xp-ing to 10). Played very carefully and tried to manouver to not be threatened by too many ships. Had all my damage vs DDs so I probably got an ideal game. All the others from T5-8 I am still at 4-6. But I chose SE as first 3 p skill. I do not feel confident with RPF so I will probably take more 3 p skills, BFT and Torp. As I am from Sweden I probably in the long run will drive up some captains to high points but 10 is the norm on mid tiers. Higher up depends on how they feel in random, if I like them enough. Sadly it is polish captains which I will not place omn the Swedish DDs but put into reserve until other PE lines comes, only on Småland I will use it to gather points for that release in the future. I think I will try both more gun or torp oriented builds and I think you can bias them for both and get good resullts. If you are a good DD player (which I do not at all pretend to be, but at least experienced) this line is difficult without the smoke and with the anti-yolo torps probably quite rewarding in chosing the right moment. They are probably not the easiest to balance, if one has followed the dev blog and all the small tweaks in gun reload and cponcealment and have tried them out I can understand them, if the reload and ce is too good they might be far too strong. I rather have better ce than better gun reload.

PTS 9.3 mount 21 flags - 8 battle, 13 economic
Gnirf replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
True they sort of give awy more for free and they rise the prizes all the time for the "Free" ships. I see all ships for what they are , partly paid by free signals partly paid by lootboxes etc.
