  1. 3 lines, German battlecruisers on T8 (did not buy any boxes), and Dutch cruisers at T9 (same). French battleships on regrind at T7 (4th and final for them, then when I am finished I will have T7-10 on 21).

Santa Crates, what did you get?

As a whale I had most of the ships so I have bought 4x20 Mega 2,3,3,5 Ships then 1x20 for doubloons 1 ship (last possible drop) + 2 times steel, then I got further 3 steel (ships) for the 10 I exchanged for certificates. None of the small/free have given anything. No premium days as usual. I usually wait with Premium ship purchases until the Christmas crates apart from a few. Decided to get Ragnar now with the coupon, Incomparable is on its way so I can admit I wanted some extra steel to be ready for that ship when the next coupon in June comes. No other steel ship that I do not already possess I bother to miss and while Ragnar is pure paper it is Swedish Paper so a must have for me.
  3. Steel are instead of ships 16% on avg. If you got 4-5 it is well above the expected 3,2 drops.

PSA. Upgrade modules are at half price.

Well, I have fought now with buying upgrades on every ship including portqueens, 3 loan ships for clan battles, 6 superships etc. When I was ready I have paid 116 812 500 after the 50% discount so a good save. 116 M is a handsome sum even for me. Naturally I have avoided a lot of upgrades during the last period in anticipation for this, but also bought on CVs etc that I play very little.

Do not forget the 6 superships and subs

    Research Bureau (AKA Boredom bureau)

And you have 5 T10s ? if not there is the answer
  8. Well, for us veterans that have plenty of FreeXP in the end I got her. Hayate is pretty useful when you regrind the IJN DD lines and doing so by playing not FreeXPing.
  9. Seen it a few times. But it is the latest addition to RB and perhaps the least attractive. I did my 35th reset yesterday and I can still not afford Gibraltar , but I miss just a few hundred RB points, have all the other ships, so I am not surprised.

    Satan box drop chance calculation

It is true if you thinking of ships, but we veterans forget that the camos and the flags are more useful to a beginner. Bought 2x20 Megas yesterday and got the wrong end of the stick. 5 ships only in the lower Tier category, but now it is only one remaining there, rest is in the higher groups. But as the special signals are welcome if you are a reset grinder, I can live w 10 cents a flag and the NY streamer and New year sky is OK camos. But as you say if there are specific ships you are looking for the coupons are better as there are simply too many ships for a newer player, even if we think that the premium they recieve is good playwise they are not the ship they want, I mean it is so many fantasy ships and if you want a Scharnhorst f.e. for historical reasons you better buy it.
  11. @The_EURL_Guy, I am not sure the practical meaning of that you recieve 250 steel for the surplus stages after you completed Marlborough. As this was stated in devblogs to be a new feature does that mean that you only recieve the 2000 steel if you you purchase the 5 stage starter pack but not the 11 as the last 6 stages are surplus to requirements but you complete all. I mean previous DY I paid for the larger starterpack and thus have a margin which as I completed all missions gave a surplus that was rewarded in steel. As the 2000 steel + other rewards is more than 6x250 steel i find this strange. So my question is simple, do we miss the original rewards for the 6 extra stages that we pay for, provided that we get all missions done , that is new and an extreme nerf.

How does the Research Bureau work?

10200 RB/reset 20400 when it is double, when you played the ships agin, not when you do the reset

    Not so skilled

What you fail to see is that to make the game attractive for newer players or for players that do not have it as a full time job there is a fine line between making the grind to hard or make it realistically fast. With 2000 games OP it is if we say 15 min /game 500 hours. That is a lot ands if you have a grind game , let us say that you want a Yamato it must be in the realm of possibilty. So as many of us are veterans we must not forget that we need fresh blood, and with the huge numbers of ships today that even if you start now you can build up a nice fleet of ships in a reasonable timeframe even if you play a few hours weekly. I know that you can buy your way up the tiers now but most do not apart from a few ships on average, there are always exceptions which are shown here now and then. But it is the grind we discuss now. I think the grind should not be made harder as I think we need a certain number of players and they should be able to reach a reasonable fleet size within a reasonable amount of time. I have reached a lot but I have also played a lot (15-30 hours weekly), numbers that you can not reach if you have job, family and other commitments. We often forget that this is entertainment and a gaming company needs numbers to reach profitable levels. If you do not find the participants to your liking perhaps try a game or sport that gives that. I do not want it to be too easy either, but if you have played 2000 games/500 hours there should not be any features that you should no be able to participate in, in my opinion. Also remember that a game focusing on warships have probably some veterans or people with disabilities as customers so it is not so easy to set too high standards. It is an interesting discussion so please elaborate what kind of commitment in hours and games played that you think should be the barrier combined with a realistic profit approach/player numbers.

    Another Coal Question

It is true thats why I guess the Hindenburg is the choice as 140 Main battery hits is possible to get. But the choice is up to the player hence my comment of coal income, I personally take the MR containers and with 90% of the days reaching 3, and if you are very careful with coal spending you will be able to buy a captain. But if you spend on signals, camos and other stuff it will be more difficult. The coupons are of no use ship wise as they go to steel reduction. But other captains are better f.e. the Italian. On G.C. but stationed on Venezia. Filthy captain on filthy ship.

    Another Coal Question

Captains that has small buffs but useful on several ships have increased in value since the skill rework. The big question is your coal inflow and your special inflow from these snowflakes events. F.e. as a whale I expect around 130-140 K Coal so thats 80% of a captain, I have him on Hindenburg after forum consultation and I do not regret it. the utilty of ships decreases when you reach a certain point like I have done but the value of a captain increases with more and more premiums on same nation.

    Co-Op Becoming pointless for BBs

Yes agree with that hitting DDs is good to train in coop especially with ships with somewhat floaty arcs

    Co-Op Becoming pointless for BBs

It is pointless to learn after a certain number of games (when you learn the ship, so the 500 is for overall things but I often try out a new line in coop f.e. the Dutch airstrikes, and CVs), but is also meaningful for a few other things than missions, f.e. grinding stock parts of ship, warming up with a few games, playing while eating or doing other things at the same time, I often discuss latest football matches, politics and such with friends over the phone and I do not want to do that in random/ranked but in coop. When you have talked for an hour or two you have progressed. Also when you are in extra high danger of interruption. I often play 2-3 games before work in the morning, coop mostly. Also when you have perma camos on your T10s it is rather a decent progress to play coop as it is always a win. But I play such huge numbers of games so I mix a lot, some ships like the dakka dakka ships Smolensk, Minotaur, Friesland are excellent coop ships. While some I never play in coop.

    Black Friday 2021: Highlights

I want to clarify some details about the pity mechanics @YabbaCoe: Does the system work regardless on how the container in question are aquired? I give you some examples: I bought 3 Premium BF containers through the Dunkerque sequential bundles recieved no ships. Does that mean that I stand on 17 left so to speak? Or if I buy 10 by doubloons first and then 10 by cash. Especially in the christmas containers that can be nice to know as we get some through missions f.e. in dockyard maybe for free, buy some , gifted some and exchange some through these exchange tokens. So it does not matter if you by 5 packs during several days recieve some for free- the system knows on how many since last ship drop regardless?
  19. Can only concur, the pity mechanics and the possibilty calculate all the different "other valuables" that comes with the prize of the valuable item ýou want makes it different to answer the poll - i.e. it depends You know pretty well as a veteran that has most of the ships that the christmas lootboxes were of decent value so I have concentrated on them. The first set of halloween crates (with the doubloon returns on camos and high camo output) yes please. Many of the others no thank you. If we take the various early access bundles it has always depended on the items and the relative value for me - i.e. high number of special signals better chance, more stable numbers of tokens higher chance. The Missouri gamble were good for me. However if the gamble reduces or increases for the gamer population as a whole - maybe?
  20. Well gambled with doubloons I have got earlier from WG so ... Result Lots of camos but no ships or valuable prizes but I can live with it.
  21. Well @Leo_Apollo11, I am also as you know a lunatic player so I get most of the coal missions, none of the auctions have been a success so I am currently missing Carnot , kearsarge and Tulsa and have coal for 1,3 ships roughly so I am not on par with the releases. I will wait for any eventual changes in the ship drops in the crates before I buy anything (Coupon goes to steelships). We do not know if Black f.e. are released as coal or in the crates so I am collecting now. The snowflakes will together with missions during that timeframe get me to 2 ships but I wait until I know a bit more of the unreleased announcements as they seem more interesting to a degree. F.e. Incomparable I want also on principle = Fishers Folly at Maximum Kearsarge seems so odd and ugly so i must therefor have it. Tulsa least inspiring. I guess there is more ships to come from the announcements though I suspect the T10s is likely steel or RB. So at present I see no urge to get even more ships (including those announced that may be for coal). I want to catch up more. T9 ships are too expensive to buy for cash, when I have so many ships already.

    Opinions on grind

Not at all as US Navy only built Battleships and destroyers and ignored cruisers which they were alone in doing among major navies during that time frame. Naturally you could put a nerfed Omaha at T4 and a buffed at T5 but it is not so unusual that some tiers need to be filled with designs especiallly with the gradual improvments you want to see.
