  1. I have played a lot of battles but still suck in DD play, may sometimes get average results but too many times poor results. Extremely seldom carrying damage results even though of course I might cap and those things and therefor winning the game for the team. But I seldom sink more than 2 ships, My modest goal is to at least sink 1 ship, especially a counterpart DD. My damage are simply too low and too little kills. If I play two games 50% are average and 50% catastrophe. Apart from taking a more serious approach to DDplay (play a few more games in them more frequently) one thing has crossed my mind. I know that as a collector I start every ship and captain from scratch, therefor i never reach a really good captain, have hardly even reached T4 skills yet. While a large amount of my poor DD results certainly is lack of skill and playing the ships too seldom, f.e. resulting in poor torp hit percentage, I begin to wonder if the lack of higher skills SE, AFT, DE and above CE are having a greater influence in this class due to stealth factors and so on. Are the DD more influenced than other ships by the captains skill set. I want to perform better as stats are really shameful but will it be hard to better this before I reach a really good captain? I will as of today never meet my counterpart when I have detection favour. Did you that are good performers took a leap in your results with certain skills added to your captain Is CE the single most important in that result increase, differs the skills importance a lot between tiers? I can think of that the Russian DDs will benefit a lot of DE/AFT and IJN/USN SE/CE I play both US RU IJN and are at T5/6. What do you Forum Experts think? Edit: One reason I post this is because of my experience with Bogatyr, her stats took a quantum leap with DE/AFT and she is one of relative few ships with good captain. However with BBs I can not say I have experienced the same extreme result improvment with better skills, it is more a gradual increase and that the player population is more stable vs my skills.

I am a bit confused about the dd split. What to do

As time may not be enough I chose to do a costly but maybe the safest grind, researched and bought Hatsuharu w the premum camo, grinded through in 47 games (prem acc) and unlocked Fubuki last night, and bought camo there also. However the grind on T8 seems not so necessary? I have all T5-8 in harbour so I do not think I miss anything. My decision was based on various threads here and on NA forum, It might be wrong but I guess it is at least difficult to find a better alternative in terms of recieving goods, but maybe I have spent too much.

We need a premium IJN Carrier

If one goes with the history it may be represented with 2 F 2 DB 1 T squadron. Good suggestion. The speed, well at T6 it would nevertheless not be slower than the BBs.

    Tier 8 waste of time

Well I have so far not upgraded the guns, not that I might be better with the 8-inchers but that I want to have the 6,1 inchers as variation. So as a collector I want both 8 and 6,1 inch IJN higher tier cruisers to play with.

    Premium Ship Review: Katori

Yes, It would have been easy to add the Ise before rebuild with her better gunplacement perhaps little less AA than Fuso C. Ise had 12-14 (6x2) as Fuso but middle turrets superimposed = better usable gun arcs. T6 I think she would be ideal as a training vessel. Of course with 22 divebombers after rebuild would have been fun but it would be difficult ito implement in gameplay. I think the workhorses in premiums should be in the middle tiers. I would not mind against higher tiers premium but f.e. in cruisers Atago is at tier 8, which is too high in my mind as the normal training vessel. Bought her early (were at T3) in my career and this ended in failure as for most others. If IJN had a middle tier premium say f,e, Agano could have been used in tier 5, thus giving IJN a training vessel in a more forgiving META. Ishizuchi is great fun but as she is shortranged and best used with HEspam it is a different playstyle. Ise would be a long ranging ship with AP as primary choice.

    Premium Ship Review: Katori

Great Review. Iowa vs Katori in IRL- Certainly the Iowa must have been equipped with Aimbot! Seldom I have had so much fun when reading your reviews especially the Pictures!
  7. Well I have kept all my ships as I am very interested in warship history, so I am around 96 + ARP ships in my port. And all ships save premiums have captains. I have played mostly BBs and cruisers and most captains are between 9-14 if the ship is not new or a few that has 15/17 (Bogatyr/Chikuma). BBs I try to reach at least 11 and later 14. Well division is not an option for me, as I play for variation also, using daily win bonuses , but I try to play category wise at least. So when I play DDs it could be between 2-6 games depending on result and mood.
  8. Sound advice Stewie but sometimes you can not disenage so easily but it is a good thing to retreat sometimes, generally I might do that too little
  9. Yes thanks for all input so far. Many times one does (the catastrophic games) one silly mistake that is due to lack of play. But one thing I can think of is when you face a counterpart which is not uncommon f.e. Mutsuki vs Mutsuki. It may be a large difference to fight with a lvl 3 Points captain vs a one w SE f.e.. You have some extra margin or a DE expert US boat in a Farragut f.e. (this boat is difficullt in T8 fights, prefer Mutsuki), If i face my equal skill in a gunnery duel I am at a disadvantage. say that we fight each other to death and the enemy has SE. He will have 2400 hp (T6) left and can still cap and scout. I have Kamikaze and Tachibana IJN + Sims in the USN for training. My goal will be to train at least 1 captain for each navy to a higher degree for a mid level DD. Then practice these two DDs more. I have stayed low in the DD grinding as I want to see the results of the IJN split. Boat positioning is perhaps the least problem. I Think it is more to launch torps in the right moment, depending on target speed/angle, when you are at a longer distance and to be better in utilizing smoke (to gun enemies down). And stay alive. I more or less only have used smoke defensively. I have now started with RN cruisers (have reached T7) so I have smoke and torps there too. And these cruisers I am also underperforming in compared to other nations I was perhaps correctly yelled at by a teammate in a T9 match when I had the Sims and did not smoke him, whether this was correct I do not know so I never answered. I will see if I can find Youtube videos more specifically geared at smoke usage instead of specific ships. Even if you just can improve that you will shift 50 % average 50 % bad to 10 % good 65 % average and 25 % bad it is a good step in the right direction. To eliminate bad games entirely is more difficult in DD as many games are 1 vs 1 duels against other DD. In BBs one has seldom the really disastrous games. Maybe if you are the first pick from an overwhelming and skilled CV strike.

Friedrich & Kurfurst: 406 mm or 420 mm

Is it any costs involved in switching back and forth or do you have the in "stock" so to speak once you have them researched and bought then once or do you have have to pay the cost for every time you wish to experiment? Interesting to know if the German 150 mm DDs has the same option or different hulls for Omaha or similar ships? I have not tried to switch yet but if it is not any cost involved I might try to experiment , B/C Hulls for US DDs if one tries to build against CVs or not etc. C-hull for Mutsuki. I am only at T8 in German BBs so it is interesting to know.
  11. Yes but there are a few ships that might be good from several navies , would be fun for us who lives there. The later De Ruyter (Kijkduin-class) with 10-6 inch guns (original design 2x3+2x2) and for me as a Swede I Dream of Tre Kronor 7-6 (1x3+2x2) 33 kts, as the guns on these were taken over by Sweden during WW2 (built for the Dutch ships). They were rapidfiring 10 rounds/min so they may fit in T6 for the Swedes and T7 for the Dutch ship. Perhaps we are too small market - maybe a sort of Paneuropen? tree where the captains could be moved. It is a game after all. At least destroyers and cruisers may have been possible to build as we may include plans, as higher up the tiers one can always (as Graf Spee is includes as cruiser) take the Ansaldo proposal to Sweden for a eqvivalent for a new Pansarskepp (Armoured ship) 6-11 inch (better armour than G:s)
  12. But it is hardly luck in the sense that the more hits you land on a ship the higher the chance that you detonate the opponent, even if it is very important that the hits gets into a certain area the better you aim the RNG will be influenced by out your skill. So a better player would succeed getting more hits , better aimed hits and therefor has a greater chance of detonate the opponent. The better you are the more "luck" you will have. In Sweden we once had a fantastic slalom athlete Stenmark who were superior to any opponent in the late 70's. Few of you know him but he had a fine line: The more and better I train the more luck I seem to have. It is the same in wows. Sure RNG matters but your chances of favourable RNG is coupled to your aiming skills. My own record is 49 detonations in 6600 games.

    Daily Container - Credits Option

well I have recieved 20 Millx2 on supercontainers + 3 others (2x250 flags+250 DC II) but they were in the first 36 TYLs. Of the 52 Draws TYL later no SC. Read somewhere that the chance may have been lowered after latest update.

    Daily Container - Credits Option

I disagree completely. Camos are very nice, will tweak your performance some %, as depending on ships the flags also do, small amounts yes but together they boost your ships performance on average several %. That means increased earnings. I use flags a lot to help the performance not just the ship/captain XP flags. But I seldom use them on lower tier ships, unless it is a special reason. I would have run out of them. You have credit flags that better your income and lower repair costs so stating that flags are unwelcome is wrong. But you may have too many of some flags and too few of the others. Speedflags f.e. could be very useful. Camos also cost so saving 22500 is very nice + the various XP bonuses that may come depending on type.

    Take one for the Community

Well I have 1 Russian T8 ship Chapayev and I have played it almost every day, since the missions started I play 1 until 1 win. My plan is to get T9 in early dec. So I try my best to help, have only killed 3 Russians ships so far. But I play T8+ less frequent, even though I have 4 T8 cruisers and Yama/Iowa. So the chances are not so high. If I feel that 20 is within reach around christmas I may do a greater effort. My results apart from Chapayev are not so encouraging. So I am in favour of OP - show solidarity with the players and play your Russian ships.

More leagues for next ranked season.

Thing is that to now good bracketing etc and various suggestions you must be aware of server population for ranked all the time to give a reasonable opinion of what a usable size was. One thing is to have different tiers so that you start as an example with T5 in Tier 24-16 T6 15-11 T7 10-6 T8 5-1 One other thing that you talk about winrate erc is that you have no idea the reason why people A/ has a poor win rate (overall). The win rate differs enormously between ships. B/ You maybe like myself have stayed away from ranked, I had nearly 6000 games random before I started with ranked, played a few games in a chosen ship went to 16, I am not so thrilled by 7 vs 7 game but I can play it a few times. I may play more next season. When discussing winrate (have around 55%) you nevertheless has to perform in order to progress, just as in chess or any other rating based game (in terms of tournaments). First you do not know how a player in general approaches the ranked game. Myself took a ship that I know I play reasonably well in, in T6 Arizona, as she is used as a trainer as I felt her being a stable performer and a ship that I know well. My WR in her is not shining 54 %, but as a training ship you have often poor captains. So when I put in my NM captain of 14 Points it is of course a difference, and suitable flags. 67 % WR 10 Wins in 15 games. That people let their winning chances go down by playing with stock hulls is strange, but on the other hand they should statistically even out between teams, as should player standard do. Your own chance to win among poor players are per definition higher than with only top players. And do not forget that with a game like WOWs random nature many good players may do silly mistakes just in the game that you play in, but you may not encounter them until 100 games later, in between where they have played many games very good. It is Always a few mistakes or rng that tilts a game, they may have played by a objectively sound idea, but got caught by RNG or a outstanding move by an enemy. Do not forget that most players both in randoms and ranked are decent players. The numbers of really outstanding and catastrophic players are relatively few. If they were 30000 players in ranked, it would have been easy to implement systems that cured all these problems, but as it is only WOWS have the data to do small tricks. I expect them to do a reasonable balancing so that cue times is not too long even in non-peak hours.
  17. I have similar long term trends but if you research more ships on higher tiers and spread out your games on several ships w less good captains it is a reasonable explanation. In higher tiers you will have more Xp and damage. But we are talking about small variations. I have slighly below 55 % as you. But if I take results per 100 games (like to do excel and stats) My latest results per 100 is :58/53/45/56/63 so I would not worry about the stat changes if I were you. You may have played somewhat less with favourites. 54.9 (which was a top for you) to 54.2 % for you. With 2677 battles only say 5 victories more would made your winrate 54,46 % instead of 54,28%. I saw that you have increased your average tier a lot so you have the same effect as me. I were at nearly 57 % after around 2000 games but I played only a few ships, now that I have expanded to over 90 ships my winrate has gone down, but it has stabilized around 55 % for a long time. If I play more of the older favourites it tends to rise, when I grind newer high tier ships T7-9 it tends to get lower, as i start every captain from scratch and seldom freexps hulls etc it cost me winrate but as I know the answer I am not bothered. It is reasonable to have a drop when you face in your stock Iowa with 3 p captain a fullblown ship that you are at a disadvantage. I start to bother about stats for a particular ship when I have at least 11 p captains and fully kitted ship even if I of course can see good or bad trends earlier. So look also at you playing pattern- Higher tiers If you mix more between ships you have probably? more fun but your winrate will probably suffer a little. If I play 20 games in a day , I have probably have played 10-12 ships as I change ships after a win to have the first win bonus effect. Some ships I grind, some I play to better the captain and some I play for fun. Realistically if I would play 10 games each in 2 ships this would yield better results, but it is for me boring. Sorry for a long post but I recognize myself in those tables.

German DD line and Graf Spee coming?

Well I am not a DD player but I will grind them at least to T6/7 or something as that goes reasonably fast and I have done that in the other DD trees. I also want to be familiar with their capabilities when I face them. I have done some forays in DD but I am doing Noob mistakes due to playing DD too little, f.e. how to use smoke to help my own team. Was yelled at yesterday by a NO complaining about me not using smoke and chatting useless noob DD player use smoke or something Did not respond - are not good enough in DDs to tell if he was correct or just angry, next game I was at the top of the team results after some torping. (Farragut) Think DD is fun to get variation but will never concentrate, so T6/7 is enough. Graf Spee I will buy if the offer is reasonable but when not sure, Belfast was told to be OP like König Albert so bought day 1. Graf Spee may not be that so will probably wait if the price is not very attractive. Depends also on her final stats and the gameplay that suits her, LWMs Review I look forward to.
  20. True, imaging your impact in a footballteam in Premier League or div 16. Let us say that you are a div 4 player, you would have made a tremendous impact at div 10, but would have been a liability at PL level. You have a far better chance to carry a game among poor players, but many of the games will turn and twist many times in hilarious ways, but it will not be negative to your winrate at all. Especially if you can control your irritation. Maybe but just maybe your chances are best when the players are below your skill (assuming your above average but no unicum) but not so far below that they do not understand the game. They are still capable to follow your example/advice.
  21. I think that logout and take a break is good. It is the same as if you play onlinepoker and have had a few nasty hands. I often start with a few lowtier ships when I play = high chance of victory and get in the right mood a sort of warming up. Chikuma, Bogatyr, Wyoming Ishizuchi f.e. Then I turn to a few of the T6-9 ships (depending on techtree) which I grind, never accepting more than three losses in a row, If 3 in a row change ship if I lose two games more I turn back to my lower tier favourites, to regain condidence. I have therefor never had such poor loss streaks, I Think my max is around 7-8 after 6300+ games. My worst streaks is more like 9 wins in 30 games or something like that. But I might have had ships that have seriously poor streaks (if one measure a single ships stats over weeks), but as I change ships I do not feel them in the same way and are therefor unaware. So when I see the screenshots in threads like this from you often with same ship in a long row of losses, you must change ship more often and do not forget lower tiers. It is good for morale to have a sealclubbing fiesta in Bogatyr f.e..

    Glad new captain

You are welcome Good that you have find your way to the forums Lot to learn Be patient and allow your skills to grow it takes time Remember that also in lower tiers you can face veteréns that will punish you so learn from mistakes and move on to next game Some times it is insults in chat, just ignore and move on but pay attention to chat for it is many games useful warnings, tactical suggestions etc Lots of stuff for you to read about basic mechanics and lots of Youtube guides etc Several guides are also found here, remember also that the NA has its own forum .com so do not forget that

    Reveal: German Destroyers!

Hope they come before Christmas -perfect gift to myself
  25. I play to both to win and get camos as there is no difficulty to reach at least 2 camos each game, but I adjusts my play style if the team can not win. Then I may concentrate more on killing two ships (or reach 100 K Dmg), but as long as we can win I try to do my best. I never fall back or some idiotic manouver. Now I am around 12-14 wins (have no stat).
