    WG 2017 plans

Regarding French/Italy ships and performance. The Victor will write history. Some of the battles have been somewhat revaluated today. First WNT limited French navy a lot compared with RN/USN/IJN far lower than historic size. France laid in the post WW1 economy in the military downsizing much of its Resources on the Maginot line and army. Italian navy were also a Mussolini show thing and was often not risked as it was not in his best interest to actively seek battle. On paper some of the ships were quite interesting. Zara-class despite mauled at Matapan were probably very strong ships. See how wargaming makes up for the dispersion (shellquality) in game. Armourwise they are strong. The French contre -torpeillurs were intented often in 3 ship divisions for often independent strategic scouting and raiding purposes in the Med so not specifically built to counter the standard destroyers despite its name. French had ordinary destroyers for fleet work. Often these 3 DDs were intented to be able to match a Italian light cruisers if caught singlehanded. I look forward to the new branches.

Is Missouri worth for 750k Free XP?

But you average damage is very good for a Wyoming and your sunken ships number also, far above average. Impressive no doubt. 25 is too few games to cry over win rate. One little warning though: If this win rate continues with a similar damage it might indicate that you prioritze own personal damage stats vs winning the game. That you might be very good at firing and survives a lot late in game but not necessary get the damage on critical targets when the match is still for grabs. But to state it clear again that is maybe if you have not improved your win rate in say 25-50 games more. Only a few wins will improve a lot. I made this observations due to the fact that I have around 61% win rate but only 44005 vs your 53383 in dmg and 177 sunk ships in 167 games. (server average is 30133 WOWS stats and numbers today). 1,88 ships your sink avg 1,06 mine shipsavg vs 0,79 serveravg Regarding Missouri, well I have spent 5000 doubloons for 175000 XP conv, that is my planned doubloon spending, have a little over 500 K at the moment. For me as a collector Yes probably as I have no trees that I necessary rush up for now. I have also from the Santas several hundred camos with doubleXP, Ocean Soul etc so I grind through instead. I even accept the stock hulls on a few ships. I have put the NewYear Camo and Papapapa on some ships, and I own Anshan and a some other suitable ships. High tier play gives FreeXPs in a steady flow. Therefor I limited myself to this conversion. In a few months I will have it. For you? I Think the same as others, proceed at least to T8 in US before Missouri, even better see if you like Iowa.

Yes, my Kami R costed around that figure in June. So the specials will always screw you in one way or the other.

    CV manual Drop

True I have been hammered to Death by some CV players when I am trying to learn. As a BB player I recently played with Wiochi010 who in a Zuiho managed 8 kills , fantastic performance. The Nerf mafia probably went mad on other team. It is a fine balance to get CV play so easy to master the basics, yet promoting the really skilled ones. I have started to play CVs a little recently in tier 4/5 and compared with the other ships the multitasking demands is not so suited to oldies like myself. I am not sure how to make it easier though.

    Honourable Service

I wonder to. Maybe one way to go is to accept the task and then see if you have destroyed at least one if you have done any progress? Strange that they did not correct this as they did with the other tasks in science of victory.
  6. Trying to learn carrier play watched Ichase youtubevideo. And after some tries at least some time hits with manual torp drop. Playing the Zuiho I had a pure catastrophic game where I faced a Bogue with two fighter squadrons and was more or less destroyed instantly by strafing attacks and after two Waves my 30 Aircraft had been wiped out vs 1 in return I realize that was skilled by him but a absurd disproportion in result of aircrafts shot down with equal tier regardless of me being a newbie in such short time. I had both Zero and Kate so that is not the case either. IChase shows how to do strafing but how to avoid them? What can I do? I realize that it is difficult to fight against a skilled player with a huge lead in fighters but I felt disgustingly helpless. Lost the game of course, I have been beaten before during the learning process roughly but never in such a onesided manner, sealclubbing not of babyseals but yet to born......... So tips both to the strategy in how to avoid a players squadrons and also what to do if I can not do it f.e. distracting/sacrificing whatever idea that can work. Can same squadron strafe multiple times without returning? Surviving tips essential..... It is my duty to do something in a CV..... I am a veteran in other areas but I have left CV play til now to fix the Campaign missions in Science of victory. So if I face a non veteran the games often turns out OK at least. I have it also mostly easier when I face a IJN CV.

    How to counter strafing?

Well as I am in a learning process my trick so far has been to send the bomber squadron with autodrop and the torps stacked if I know I am against harder opposition, if I attack a lone ship or have less skilled opponents I may split the torp squadrons, when your 49 you try to do the things that you for now are capable of not the ones that really skilled players can do. So the best is to take small increments with the two torp squads and move in diff directions when facing fighters? If they not strafe, the rear gun some times are a little help so I hope stacked squads are a advantage. Against ships 2-4 hits seems surer if enemy is poor in avoiding hits with stacked squads.... Thanks for answers above Procrastinating Student and Giolonutz.

    How to counter strafing?

He strafed all squadrons and you do only have 1 fighter w Zuiho

    Possible improvement: three time periods

From a real discusssion point it is nothing fundamentally wrong with your idea, but as other posts have stated the player base is too small. If we were 10 x more players, the idea would be very practical.
  10. If the CV at T2 was limited to XP/dmg but 10 ships, well I have started to grind CVs a Little but 10 ships compared to the duration of the event takes a lot of games. I finally manage to get some damage in fact fairly Ok some games but sinkings ...few. In a five stage mission the stages should have a logic progression in difficulty/time/effort but at stage 2 of 5 this demands are indeed steep. I would not mind if these are Campaign demands where the time is longer and you can choose the order more, but now.... On the other hand I love the Campaigns and these weekly missions I take more as a bonus

    The case for HMS Incomparable

Well I have some design suggestion from McLaughlins book on Russian and Soviet Battleships: Reval Works 16x16 (4x4) 24-6 Speed 30 45000 T Nikolaiev designs several variants w 16 inch guns both w Twin and triple turrets f.e. variant 4 (p317) 45200 T 12-16 (4x3) 20-6 25 kts, both these from first World war. Variants from proj 24 (p427) 70-75000 T 9-16 (3x3) 30 kts (specification from 1945) design ready in various stages 1949-52.

    Santa boxes

Well you are correct in that. To me no rational finance deals were part of my gambling during Santa. I am veteran player who has most of the premiums that I like. But then I was well aware of the myth of Nikolai well before X-mas thought I never would get it. It made me very happy when the first Day of Santa boxes threads and youtubevideos indicated several veteran players that got it, even if I did not know if they trolled on how much they have spend it seems to indicate that ships were at least not too rare and that it gave better chance to recieve a Nikolai if you had several premiums before. In my case it turned out correct. I got in after 9 large boxes. I have played it now around 20 games and it is as expected, very fun and in some MM superfun. If the camos are Worth something? No I would never have paid that amount normally, but one has to admit that it has some value to ease the grind if you are short of time that is a very good thing. Likewise flags, they are useful, not worth the amount accorduing to me but at least worth half. So I suggest everyone do their own evaluation. I recieved a Tirpitz in the package an Lo Yang that was two T8 premiums + captains, well valuewise to me they are overvalued the T8 ships in the shop but I am pleased nonetheless. But with Bismarck in port (and Scharnie/König A) I am not so enthustiastic as I would have been before the Scharnie buy. In fact I am looking forward more to play the Graf Spee If I would won the Eugen? Don´t know if I would have paid 10 EUR even? Dont need her financially as I play ships for fun, and do not like Hipper at all. She has no interesting things/quirks at all. I suppose it depends on the wallet of the player also. I see it as a lottery where the duds at least gives you something.

    Santa boxes

Nikolai is worth far more because of rarity and OP. If you would have been able to buy it against doubloons for say 40-50 EUR offer during three Days I bet that lots of people would do it regardless of low tier, at least Before Santa boxes. Grem would be expensive in same manner. Some other ships would be less attractive against its tier. Krazny Krym for non Russians, well 0,5 EUR? Maybe?

    Current state of T10

For you as a gamer it might be. I have a friend who buys and plays through many games so I can accept that. But WOWS appeals also for other players. For me as a warship enthusiast and interested in history I play all the tiers from 2-10 as I like the looks of the ships and have interest in them in general. So thats why I have 100+ ships in harbour and have spend lots of cash on premiums. Besides is tier 10 infested with paperships which may not bother you or the gamer but it bothers me a lot, so those Tech trees are far less interesting. Besides are the gameplay at lower tiers often more fun. Sure I grind also but I return to lower/midtiers to enjoy ships that I like.

Can we please get a Credit sink?

To Op: If you have a prem account and take away that a few months you will save real Money. If you then play with fully kitted prem consumables and camo you may be in your desired state with less credits soon. These real Money you can put in whatever you desire from the prem shop at a later date. I have not your credit stash but a bit over 100 Million and I am happy to know that when my premium account runs out in 6 months. I may live without it for a while.

    Ships that are unplayable stock

Use premium camos w exp 50/100%, Flags Equal Speed Charlie London and Premium time gives more XP/game. Try to grind several ships to max the benefits from first win bonuses. Use free XP. Especially on the stock hull. But as ithe XP demands rises for all the tiers use the wisely. Accept horrible grinds in some ships because there are even worse grinds maybe. But Fuso is a ship you can use some Xp on. I often combine take a few Days in the stock grind on the weekend at least as freeXP is so tough and then take freexp. Accept that it takes time to grind higher tiers

Hunt for Graf Spee - Catch up

Of course not. As you have several Campaigns on going f.e. Honorable service etc but only have 3 Active tasks at the same time it is important to solve the 3 pins in Graf Spee missions as soon as possible. It takes a while to gather XP and if you wish to have Graf Spee to be able to do the convoy missions and wants to have Graf Spee free from the Graf Spee Campaign it pays dividends to solve each step as soon as possible. You have surely seen the Xp numbers from various stages. So I recommend you to catch up as soon as possible if you want those benefits.

Gun Reload on Battleships and Range

Sure the historically rate is accurate on average, but there is one small point to be made: It was different reload times on different elevations. So if the distance as it is sometimes are short, it would have been a marked difference. The difference of Yamato reloading its guns for say 5 degrees elevation or max distance 45 degrees (if I remember Yamatos max) is substantial. It takes several seconds to depress the gunbarrel to loading position and then lift it up again. But for playabilty this detail is ignored.

Just how rare is the Kamikaze?

Kamikaze R was sold during a few Days around 4 th of June 2016, to celebrate Midway. I bought mine then on the EU-server. Blue camo. I am pleased that I did it.

    Kagero - any advice?

No I can understand that but you are a qualified DD driver so I would suggest that with only 25 games and 40% WR (when I answer) the number of games is too small. Sure the META Changes, up in the tiers, i have sometimes the feeling that MM may be better for T7 than T8, but personally I doubt that I have much to learn you. Radar equipped ships are far more common. When I play Chapayev I see it as one of my main tasks is besides BBQ battleships to hunt or help hunting DDs. you have faced those ships at T7 also, but they are vastly more common when you play T8 upwards. If you are low tier in a T10 fight it is often 3 radar ships or more each side+ hydros so it is far more timing and awareness required to Contest caps f.e.. People at this tiers are generally more observant of torps, numbers of Aircraft up observes you and the torps you send out. I rarely get more than an odd torp hit or 2 at most when firing full salvos. It seems that many has vigilance also. I am not qualified enough to suggest any specific things in playing style even though I have reached up to tier 10 a few Days ago and played a few games in Shima. But I have played enough games to see that most succesful torps comes at busy ships caught off guard or you may surprise them with a several good attacks especially if you coordinate them with friendly DDs. The number of times when you have caught a T10 BB from distance with 5-6 torps is almost zero for me at least while on T5/6 BBs (which you face in your T7 ship) you get at least now and then. The secondary arnaments is too strong also so one has to approach carefully, things are different late in game of course. These are things that I have noticed myself. More experienced players can point you in improving gameplay suggestions. I used the torp reload booster both on Kagero and Yugumo. In some games I was very succesful, som times I died because of not having smoke. I did that choice because I thought that way I was most valuable to the team, as I am not good at employing smoke correctly. That technique I learn with other nations so I might change later.

    Capture progress mechanic explained?

One of the funniest victories in my 7600+ games was in a Big Race standard battle, where I in Chikuma defended our cap vs in the end 8 enemies which halfheartedly tried to cap and fire at me. One or two ships could have raced against me, but they did not. They did not of coursé all arrive at the same time but a few were in our base all the time. I defended from outside. I told our only surviving other ship a destroyer to go and rush enemy cap and hide which he did. I was sunk in the end , after sinking some enemies, but our DD were enough ahead in the capping process to secure the game. Criminally poor play from the other team but it is good that stupidity can be punished. Also an example that chat and teamplay worked on our side. I wonder how the chat went on the other side. Useless xxxxxxx, Fxxxx Retxxxxxx Noob xxxxx That is why the cap reset function must be preserved. And it is important that new players understand that it is far easier to defend a cap than secure it, especially in standard battles. Difficult situations can be turned as long as 1 ship can reset a cap.

    Santa boxes

Well I recieved a few ships Nikolai, Anshan, Lo yang and Tirpitz but the latest 10 large boxes has only given camos so I suppose I will follow your advice. In the 10 small and 9 Mid packages I recieved no ships so that is a little strange as many has stated that they got ships from the small/mid boxes. If I buy a few more it will be of the small or mid for pure Entertainment. Camos of course are useful, but I would normally not pay for them, I use the 22500 variant normally. Now I have several hundred of and it is only Grem and maybe Kutusov that I have left that is really of interest. So I have now thrown over 70 EUR at WG after the ships was won. Nikolai was the ship I was after and prepared to pay for. Considering the density of the first four ships it is little chance for such a poor outcome. I would say that I have recieved totally is roughly OK, but that is becaues I value Nikolai at 50 EUR at least.
  23. Gnirf

What third row skill should I pick on Shiratsuyu

Well I use prem torp boost, damage control and Superintendent its the lower cooldown rather than number that I am after. In some long games when you do survive it is nice to have them also.

    Kirov, the tinfoil ship

I would say that the Budyonny at T6 and Chapayev at T8 is good cruiser for long range sniping and BBQ. Schcors somehow I did not like, Chapayev has radar so she is a good DD hunter but be careful, not to expose yourself, firing fwd guns only much of the time, long and difficult to dodge with, but precision in their guns I like them, but T5 and T7 I have laid off active duty though I have them in port. With DE they are good ships, never mind torps it is only if some stupid enemy comes near or you must do a kamikaze they are of use. So grind through T5 and next ship is more help for T7 T8 but the fragility you will be familiar with in Kirov.
