Hood - Standard Edition is now in the shop
Gnirf replied to HMS_LIVERPOOL's topic in General Discussion
True I usually buy a few when there is 50% sale, but they seem to come infrequently. But I have 12 empty slots, bought a few a month ago or so when they had sale. Now when the RN BBs on the way one needs a little more as 6 of them are marked for other techtree ships. -
Is it feasibile to go over tier 8 without premium account/camo?
Gnirf replied to Favuz's topic in General Discussion
Sure, but if you grind a T9 at T8 f.e. even 100000 + per game takes 250 games to reach 25 Mkr, and you do not need that many games to grind T8 to reach T9. I am above 11000 games now and I have not more than 4 T10s yet but many T9. I started to use premium when I reached around T7 to be able to afford premium consumables etc , have Freexp very little, seldom converted (more or less only 25% of Missouri) and uses FreeXp only for B -hull and such on higher tiers, have f.e. in the new French line grinded through every ship. but Premium makes you feel comfortable. But I play a lot of low and mid tier and I also keep my ships have sold 1 (Eire). So selling ships has not been a part in the finance. And as a collector I want every ship even at low tier fully researched and equipped. From T4 and up my goal is to have at least 10p captain, long term goal of course. I grind slowly but steadily and are at T7 on German DDs, ready to buy T8 French cruiser, ready to buy Montana and Hindenburg, grinding on T9 Udaloi, Neptune, Ibuki, FdG, Donskoi so my credits which are at 176 Mkr will take a nosedive soon with all the T10s to procure. That is why I extended my premium 6 months, later I can go back to normal. I have never played optimal for cash, yes I have Missouri but I think she is too boring to play. I prefer my New Mexico/Arizona f.e.. -
Not in game, but in the Lion design development the armour was thinned in the last designs on the side as the immunezone was placed further out. The battleranges was expected to be fought longer out so that made 15 inch as on KGV not necessary despite 16 inch guns. Numbers of 11-12 inch if I remember correctly, have not the Warship article at hand right now. Especially huge underwater explosions and likewise were thought necessary to protect at and deck armour probably (steep angles and large bombs).

PVE Scenarios (S1): Which ships for which missions?
Gnirf replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
If you are good at carriers Ryujo are probably very useful -
Agree: F.e in my port Tachibana, Albany, Yubari, Ishizuchi, K Albert+ a few more have all their respective benefits - they look good and that you can get a little training is also good as a bonus. T4 premiums are in some cases f.e. Ishi excellent in the weekly missions like starting fires deal fire damage T4+. It is also good to have a premium for each line and you do not want a T8 premium when you are at lower or mid tiers. Higher premiums are for training higher tier capatains after they have reached a certain level. I use lower/midtier for training new captains need that as i seldom move them. Therefor Grasse and Gallant are excellent. So far I have used Dunkerque to train my French captains.

Well La Gal is one of the few ships I have recieved witherer in (Chapayev , Ishizuchi the other two). I found her very average, not excellent not bad, her armour is better than Emile Bertin, I think that ship was worse than T6, T7 is rather good. But I can not find La Gal better then Budyonny only her torps have better range. But she will recieve a RPM buff from 10 s to 9 sec reload helps DPM with 11% and consider you often spam HE this makes the chances of setting fires better from already being good. I even bought prem camo after Flamus review. I will like her more probably after this buff but I like cruiser play a lot. I have a 8 p commander after full grind, and are now ready for the T8. I do not move any captains as i have got a few 10 pointers from Dunkerque play + the mission mentioned by Benaulim in previous post. I also save all ships. Jurien and D-T I play a lot but I am succer for old 4 funneled ships. D-T is superb and very strong for its tier. I find the French ships rather beginnerfriendly. I also hear that T8 and 9 are good ships, T8 is ready to be bought as soon as it comes a discount on the modules (upgrades). I have at the moment several ships in waiting for that. T8 T10 ships are so expensive never discounted but the upgrades are.
-
I will try Anshan at least among with Budyonny, Arizona and Shinomone. I may have tried Gaede if I had a decent captain. I think T6 has a lot of good ships so it is more a question of what suits you and what you perform in. But I never play enough in ranked to bother down to R12-15 I think any ship that you like are OK.

Is it feasibile to go over tier 8 without premium account/camo?
Gnirf replied to Favuz's topic in General Discussion
Problem is to accumulate the cash needed for T8 T9 ships 15-25 MKr fully upgraded or so it takes ages on normal account. -
Yes but the T8 ships gets the concealment module which all cruisers and DDs take, which hurts the T6 ships in general. My own stats are worst in Duca by all my 150?+ ships. But it can of course be improved, I play several cruisers also on high tiers but she does not work for me at all. Will lay her aside until I found time to to a more dedicated approach. Need study her far more before in guides etc.

Favuz: Have you despite your comment about premium time done a proper calculation? Especially if you can see a long term play in the game. The 12 month fees f,e, does probably not need to much play to be acceptable. As the costs remain the same the benefits are rather high especially on mid higher tiers. Consider a ship at a certain tier with costs of : 120000 (incl prem consumables etc) You do a game with 130000 in normal mode =10000 + with premium you get 195000=75000 thats 7,5 times the benefits, well I know it is a drastic example, but if you play at the level that just makes you break even the benefits are very high and it saves a lot of time to finance the higher tier play but more importantly the higher costs of actually buying the ships. If you have a premium ship that you like that is fine but premium benefits all play and if you are short on time that is good if you have several silver ships that you like. I think you must calculate further as a T8 ship costs a lot also and you need to like that ship very much. Sadly the testing of a ship is not possible. -
Sure I understand that, my point is that when missions regardless of it is the weekend or weekly missions should be calculated by WG like this: Effort/Grinding missions: (like the weekend with base XP): Average players say at T6/7x50% WTxAvg XP=X amount of games Good rewards= More hours Meh rewards= easy to reach Success/One battle success or combined wirh grind= wished success rate like they have stated that they do in the weekly missions that the final stage 4 and 5 are for dedicated/very good players. When I played during weekend I did not play any Non IJN/US ship. The weekly missions I use for the first three missions which I usuaklly have fixed the first two days low tier ships tailored for them f.e. Ishizuchi or D-T for fires and the last two stages they I just play normally and if I make them it is good if not I seldom cares if it is not missions that I feel I really have a very good chance in, Stage 4 is seldom a problem, stage 5 are more dependent on luck and if it suits my favourite ships.

Whatever definition you have of a decent game the interesting calculation is average player on lets say T6 or T7 matches w 50% win rate place 6,5 in teamscore and see how many games it takes to get the various rewards. You have a personal calculation that goes for you -that is obvius - but I want the mission requirements to be calculated effortwise with the average player. How many hours is reasonable? That experts on high tiers do it quicker is not so relevant. 1,5 Base XP you can not calculate T6 ot T7 on average for the average player and winrate is per default here 50% (weekend teams or not).

True I managed to get both on saturday and monday and one of them on sunday and I played a lot. Problem is that it is so much geind that it takes away the fun, I find it interesting to see if I win in close fight even if I am sunk before the end if it is not directly at the start. Also that these massive grinds lower my quality of play. Used Sims a lot for the US part as I am grinding up a Gearing captain when I reach that ship and alternated with Fletcher. + Arizona. Thanks for Sims XP factor.

To OP: It is not T7 that have it worst in MM it is t5. I agree with several of your points, but you can not make her too strong, think of the König/New Y from T5 that faces her wih around 20000 less hp. Or Krazny Krym which sails a lot on EU waters (sees her seldom sales in EU=72 ships?)

The Lionclass was designed with 3x3 406 mm guns, they were started but put on hold when war break out and went through lots of design evolution until after war, is a very good article in Warship magazine about it. Most navies went for triple/quadturrets in WW2 designs and built ship, only Germany persisted with dual mounts. (does not count Vanguard as there were other reasons for her dual turrets). IJN had quad studies already in the 20's, see Hachi Hachi-fleet by Kojinsha f.e., (in Japanese but I have the book for the plans). https://hlj.com/product/KJS81504

Used Arizona last but I played only a handful of games so my word means nothing. But it is fun that they are many bids and many solid ships, Warspite? Hmm Might be an interesting season, I like the bid Anshan , sadly I am pretty mediocre in it. I might try several ones, but I am only playing for a few rewards. When the progress stops I end my play.

Before they have repaired this....plz make the escapeexit ready
Gnirf replied to Genie_of_the_Lamp's topic in General Discussion
Flamu and those unicums would never be able to play anymore. Oh a radar ship/Unicum/Grem/Nikolai in enemy side I quit, on my side enemy quits etc . Completely unrealistic -
Well you specified the 15xFlags without the 98 but it is easy to misunderstand if it is not your own language and you read quickly.

Lexington had rather sleek lines. Very long, compared with the original Kaga/Akagi she wins in my mind. She is both ugly and elegant at the same time. A premium original Saratoga at T5 (w old planes) and 8-203 mm +manually sec arnament cpt perc 15 km range Lexington with 7 funnels and 10-14 inch 35 kts or 2 funnels (final design) 8-16 inch 33 kts those are ships that I also want.

Yes it is nice to see that on mid tier ships. I think this Victory Camo is one of the very best colourschemes of the fantasy camos. I have noticed that the longer I play up the tiers and grind on T8 and 9, the less inclined I am to spend prem camos, flags (Zulu, ESCL, New special) on mid tier. I had plenty of premium camos from the halloween event and Pre nerf containers when you got 5 of them instead of 2 + all the Santas , I think it was at least 4-500 of the better ones. So I spended some on the midtiers also , now I become far more reluctant to use them on anything but T8 or 9 for the XP and T10 for Restless Fire w commander XP. The stock is drying -perhaps I will buy a new 200 bunch, the ones from may I have around 30 left of perhaps 1 week at most of play. I have not decided, I bought recently a new 6 month premium so I am not sure and I am reaching far in most tech trees now.
-
I respect your view but to do a correct analysis you need to take into account that you do the Hood specific missions and get 7 more special containers with another setup than the original one, They give you 7 times of 2x7 of the flags +7x10 badges=70000 credits. While the credits are of zero value in the calculation then in worst case 14 bundles of at least 7 special flags (randomly chosen), if you are lucky they can be 20 I think, but count on worst case 98 flags. With flags that give 100% ship XP+100 % Cpt Xp among them I consider hem useful to count them as value. As these 98 flags are just as accessible for you as for me who bought the expensive bundle is good for you, as the missions themselves can be made in a few days if properly managed. If you do 20-30 games you will manage it if you are a decent player. I am not here to debate about the staggered release just point out that you might be wise to count these flags in the value of the bundle and give a reasonable value for them, Different players value them differently, but value them objectively for there are worth a sum. Especially with all the tech trees that today are at hand this flags will speed up the process. So indirectly you get 75+98 flags=173.

We seriously need a SKILL BARRIER for T8+ matches
Gnirf replied to IceyJones's topic in General Discussion
If players like me, who are not interested in ranked and only play a handful of games to get the rewards the numbers are of less significance. Besides the game meta in ranked is entirely different, you probaly also play with a handful of ships you are very good in or suits that particular meta. Personally I have great fluctuations at higher tiers depending on ship, some I perform acceptable in and others not so much, as a collector I also previously started with fresh captains which are reflected in my personal stats. The more I play at higher tiers the better it goes trendwise. Accept that you can not be good without practising to play in higher tiers. I spend plenty of times studying youtubevideos over any new ship, combined with playing of course. I also grind broadly which perhaps is bad for stats but it is also more fun with the variation, combined with favourite ships. -
Depends on how expensive the handbag was that you bought her in return.........

A few lines that will teacb me how to play and also have fun
Gnirf replied to edowardo2016's topic in Newcomers' Section
I would say IJN cruisers, The French cruisers are rather OK also, I think that they might be considered newbiefriendly in the future. As other people say do not rush the tiers - you can play all branches at least to T5-6 as the grinds are relatively short so you get a feeling for them, some of them are a little illogical in the tiers, but I think IJN is the best for you - I think that this line is the most recommended since the game started in the threads like this so you can not be wrong. Remember that when you play cruisers to watch your broadside - when you move up the tiers you will be severely punished by enemy players who will take advantage of this and delete you in a few salvos, if you are unlucky 1 can be enough. -
Well Waka can be felt as a sort of downgrade from Umikaze but better times ahead. I would say that the ZeReckless final sentence is the most important, that survival is key to suceess many times on those small maps the DDs are killing off each other at the start, you shoulkd move forward it is yout job but sometimes you are outnumbered with poor support and then it is time to retreat. Many support ships are far slower than you so you do not need to use max speed always, see to that ypur support ships can keeo up. A BB goes only around 20 kts, they have no chance. A Cap does not always need to be taken first in the domination games, if you arrive a little later you with ypur support you might take it back or you stop the enemy from capping (1 min in Domination). F.e. on Solomons Map in domination the mid cap tends to be a magnetic killzone for all DDs. Even if there are several DDs on each side it can be 2-3 DDs flocking and killing each other per side, while superior numbers are good to try to achieve in the gametactically the channel is so narrow so you are killing each other, avoid that if you can. It is easier to go there alone or with a DD that you trust as newbie DD drivers torp each other often both enemy and friendly. You should avoid gunfights with gunboats - use your stealth, You have alos longer reaching torps than your enemies (not IJN boats). Do not be afraid to use guns but use them wisely. If you are more devoted: Learn the detection ranges from your likely opponents so you can position yourself at the correct distance to scout the enemy DD if he has worse concealment and let your scouting buddy take care of the enemy. F.e. if you make a division with a friendly experienced Bogatyr and achieve good coordination with your mate thge results can be most unpleasant for the enemy DDs. I have played that ship a lot (not in division) often try to support my DDs by taking out enemy DDs which they scout for me as it is a big step to victory if one can kill a few/all enemy DDs at the beginning. I am a veteran now and I almost never returns to Kamikaze , I rather play Umikaze or isokaze at T2 and 4 as I consider them better for their tiers and naturally Kamikaze at T5 I am sure you can make Wakatake work for you, and it will learn you several opponents which you will continue to have at T4 with Isokaze.
