Sad to see this negativity. I have played since oct 2015 and you have more maps, ship trees than ever. Sure some changes have been bad , but overall I think the game has improved. I think it is easier to like the game if you do not just have a few favourites and hence look more to the big picture. That a thread like this drawn people who likes to trash rather than the opposite is for me sad. Now when the RN BBs finally at the horizon and some other lines my own pleasure is larger than ever.

Well radar mods maybe, but f.e. engine boost you can use from T6 on certain ships, so you are somewhat in error here. And there are lots of ships - I bought 3 engine boosts in the Kamikaze campaign (COTE).
-
Perhaps that they have come to me I have got 5 engine boosts mod and 7 others

Dear WG - are there any statistics that you can share regarding achieving 4/5 stars reward in new PvE Operations?
Gnirf replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
i have only played this week 3 wins in 7, as a random player. of the 3 wins 1 one w 5 stars and 2 w 2 stars. I guess that if you play enough games with the best ships your odds of reaching at least 4 should be alright. I presume you know what to do and by statistics you will in the end have enough players that wants 5 (or 4) stars and plays for the objectives. It is a little like Transylvania mission, when you were in a team that knowed what to do finally it was if not easy pretty doable, the good thing then was that you farmed the camos even if you did not have a good team. I found however that when I played yesterday it was another exitpoint so some things seem to change between days. -
Well I find him also in the reserve. But thoise flags and cpt never showed up in port in the box that you can click on to see the latest rewards. Probably something that will be fixed.

I feel often the same, I can improve but I am probably around/near my limit, it is a few techniqes I can improve more in, but I have such huge numbers of games now that I do not think that I can be so much better, it is more a qusetin of grinding ships and captains so that you get better tools to work with. I have had 55% WR forever almost. The things that I think I still can improve in is mainly CV and higher tier gameplay. In lower/midtier other ships I fail to see any improvments.

It can sometimes be a little tricky to compare stats in premiums. I tend to look at overall gameplay. I agree in principel but it is only a guideline. First is it solo or division? Then how is the latest results. If you look for some of my ships I played the in the beginning of my career then the stats may have suffered. How good is the captain? how many games overall? Do you use the premium ships like some do to pad stats and use high end captains in it or f.e. like myself in Belfast to train low end captains. I have plenty of premiums and some I hardly play to train captains more or less only using them with high point captains. But the Belfast like Warpite and Dunkerque f.e. I have used to train 10 p captains from scratch to have in store so it naturally makes the stats worse than they have to be. Then one should perhaps not use the exact average as a cutoff. You have a sort of +/- around the average, how large it is another matter. Then one must analyze the distribution more. But say that the average wr is 55% I would at least say that one who has 50-55% might be considered average. And of course a decent number of games. It depends on how many groups you divide the players in. If the player is good in several other ships and poor just in Belfast he might also have the skill to improve. If he is overall poor he stats in Belfast if they are below average have greater value. I reason as you in CVs , I am not good but I have hardly played it either so does that leave room for improvment? Yes probably- will I make an effort - do not know - it is some iconic ships but I am hesitating. With Kaga released and Enterprise on the horizon I am tempted but the Premium ships that I buy are quite many already so the budget has a limit. Gallant are probably far more useful to me, and I do foresee some other premiums perhaps Dreadnought, italian BB etc. However If I as you lack in the strafing technique would make me abstain from CV play , No but I will try to learn it before I go up in higher tiers. At T6 and maybe T7 or so in CV play must be regarded as training levels in my opinion. Perhaps the CV situation overall with many of those that plays Cvs are very good is making it harder for us beginners in CVs i.e. making the other players less tolerant as they are so easily spotted when they fail.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Gnirf replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Hello! The more you are in forum the more names you recognize. A comfortable victory. But only average performance for me. Find it little hard to play Graf Spee against bow in/angling BBs, had both NM and Bayern against me + cruisers. One had has to play rather kiting play and minimize number of opponents. Fortunately you and others in the BBs did their part. The DPM are on the low side especially with only 1 turret in play. -
Its summer

Sealclubber? Perhaps But I see that as a Gamers Perspective not a Warship enthusiasts perspective. I am a collector and I am interested at Warships that means I play the ships I like and think look good, (early ships f.e.) I had a mail conversation with a podcast where the battlecount from T1-T10 for a certain shipline is heavily scewed in the higher tiers i.e. you reach the lower tiers so fast and the grind in the higher tiers are a huge part of the needed games. Thats why most interest from them is of the higher tiers. I can see his point from a gamers perspective but for me as a collector I value each ship as important as the other I am value them as individuals, if I like a ship I play them regardless of tiers. F.e. with the upcoming RN BBs - is it the paper/designs at T9 and T10 (yes I now Lion was laid down) that are most interesting for me? No as a Warships enthusiast first and gamer at second place I look forward and hope for the lower /mid tier up to presumable T8 KGV. But Dreadnought (if Bellerophon would be the T3) as a premium T3 is a must buy and to play just for the good looks and just for piloting this iconic ship. Gamers think otherwise and often FreeXp the lower tiers. Well I do not. We have different motivations for playing the game and certain ships.
-
OK thanks
-
I agree with you on Mid-lower tiers I play the them a lot.
-
There are several fun low tier BBs, nassau, Wyoming + the premiums K Albert and Ishizuchi are all fun and I play them all even though the grinding campaigns have made me play them far less than I wanted.

Managed 5 stars on the fifth try (De Grasse) Forth try was victory with Budyonny but only two stars and then before that 3 defeats DeGrasse/Clevland/Budyonny. Any of these will do. Some games there wer no CV that is a handicap, T5 New York Furutakas ....frustrating teams ignoring to help despite massive pleas with the Kaiser and kolberg in NE, well two of the three defeat s I was sunk alone trying to fight those two , well Kaiser as Kolberg I managed to sink. Teams in losing matches not aware in general to follow objectives, our two star victory they just ignored to fulfill the objectives and went to end area on D1 despite writing to them to fulfill the objectives. But the fifth game was good finally, with a Ryujo and lots of T6 cruisers. I think it was a 2ship div otherwise only random players so it is possible with random players. Does anyone know if you get all the rewards from a 5 star victory or do you need one of each? Stupid question probably but to be 100% sure and not 99%. i guess there is no use of completing the missions several times for other than XP /credits and to enjoy the mission. Nevertheless a fun experience and the fivestar victory gave decent XP /credits non withstanding the 10 p german captain which will be useful later in my T8 DD which I will reach in near future.

Scharnhorst with ease apart from Premium benefits P E is the same as Hipper while Scharnie w 11-inch guns offers something different from Tech tree /
-
Well Luigi you have reached tier 8. i have 5 Tier 10 to buy will make a significant dent in my credits =140-150 Million so I wait for a upgrades sale. You will notice you need money when you begin to collect ships esp. higher tiers in various lines.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

With ranked season in mind incl a 19 p cpt 200 EUR? -
It is a difference also between constantly playing as a useless player and dip the toes somewhat to sniff at the maps/meta. To experience high tier play etc and to know when you are ready it is good to play a game or two in your Tirpiz; bismarck Atago to see if you are good enough. At least when you are up to tier 6-7 something with intervals. The amount of games every player needs is different and also depending on ship. A Broad approach across the shiptypes is recommended. I have made the mistake as many others did in the past because of lack of information. Bought not the Tirpitz but Atago, i think I was at T3,T4 in IJN cruisers and maybe t576 in BBs (i started with only IJN trees back in oct 2015 where the choices were limited). Predictable results, not that every game was catastrophic but many, but after some games I realized that it was no use and continued the game normally, broaden to US lines and have more or less progressed balanced across the board even though I naturally have prio some lines at a time. It is just not the Meta and more experienced opposition it is also that the importance of high point captains premium consumables, flags etc that one is sadly noninformed about. A newbie is XP food anyway but you must not stack the odds against you more than necessary. Many small things one learns all the time, and it has to come with experience helped by the way of other peoples experience which shortens the learning curve/period. So back then you learned the hard way, the forum I did not start to use until say 6 months into the game, youtube a little earlier as the Beta Youtube made me aware of the game, together with reviews/articles in PC Gamer. I think that for many people especially here and also the OP, we share the same experience. But we must also accept that for some people it takes longer to reach the conclusion that perhaps I better take the progress more slowly. Even very experienced (meaning many games) players like myself does horrible mistakes sometimes which can in a single game look stupid. My goal is to minimize criminal mistakes, but tactical mistakes one can always do. It is easy to get tunnelvisioned so personally I seldom look at single games, but trends. Do I have fewer games that I perform useless in and do I reach more games that I carry the team in? Do I have a common theme in a particular ship of my ship getting deleted or is it something that was more random event. If you are sunk by multiple enemies around you when your team is failing it is not so much analyzing to do, apart maybe from an early tactical decision. But do not overanalyze, the gutfeeling is useful combined with stats. And have realistic goals. To reach Flamu is not realistic goals for everybody - not for me at least. I am quite content with my around 55%, My goal right now is to perform better in higher tiers if only by a few percent.

Ranked Battles Are Coming! [ Seventh Season ]
Gnirf replied to AegeanPirate_'s topic in General Discussion
Gallant is a good pick, right now its Fubuki (that i voted for ) or Shinonome. Fortunately I have a 12 p Cambeltown cpt to use. I voted Arizona, Budyonny and Fubuki. I have also heard Flamus guide and I agree with him that this a far more open tier, and that the tiers down to 10 it does not matter just any ship that you perform in will do. I have played Arizona season 5 and Nagato a llot season 6 as I do not intend to advance further than to the grind starts. Last season I won 10 out of my 11 first with Nagato and then it was around 20 games more with Nagato/Blys and Shia that did mot take me further so I stopped. I may even try some odd ships to test like Graf Spee, De Grasse I might try also, she has 9 km torps while Budyonny has just 4. But Buds guns are the best in my opinion. Cleveland I might try also. On BBs I have my 19 p NM captain to use in Arizona so it gives some eliteXP which is nice. And she is slow but I like the guns, I often forgive bad speed or armour or some other drawback, but if a ship does not have good guns I do not like it, thats why I do not like German BBs from T6+. Warspite I might try also, I like her very much thought I am perhaps not so good in her as in Arizona (or more rightly defined in Az I am a average/good border while Warspite average compared with server.61 % WR/198 games in Az vs 55%/120 in Warspite, solo random. But even if I objectively so far performs better in Az, I may use Warspite a lot anyway as I like her and maybe I need the extra kts better. I do not have the same captainlevel in Warspite though so it might explain the difference. The other T6 BBs varies between 55 and 48 (Bayern) so my disdain for German guns can be clearly seen also in the statistics at T6. What do you think is the extra kts in speed worth more in ranked vs random? -
Which ships have exceeded your expectations?
Gnirf replied to ZandersMcGrooby's topic in General Discussion
I must agree, as I have been with the game for a while I must take those which reputation has preceeded my play and I actually stopped playing German DDs at T22 because I hated that ship so much, I raced through T2-T4 in a few days and after a few games in T22 i just stopped especially after the trash reviews with the large gun bloom etc. But after the removal of stealthfiring I have started to play (still hated T22) them again and like you found Gaede perfectly acceptable, with the hydro and usable torps , I hate DDs without decent range in torps. Are currently grinding Maass which I also find perfectly acceptable, found Mahan/Farragut and the RU T6/7 befores split with 4 km torps far worse. Remains to be seen if I find T8-10 alright also. -
weekly mission: Battle of the Espero Convoy stage 4 - don't think it's possible with the ships I currently own
Gnirf replied to zmeul's topic in General Discussion
Yes it is good point the 45K in a cruisers you want a BB and the 15 K in a DD you want a DD or maybe if they are many DDs a CA. It is the combination that is difficult. Khaba seems ok as a suggestion or maybe Akizuki? On lower tiers I suggest fastfiring cruisers. Problem is that you need enough DDs and CAs, If there are games may DDs the Cas tend to be few and vice versa so one must have luck with killing one or the other. -
Supercontainers not in a year? They have been around since october. I doubt that if you take TYL every container, even with your play of 2339 games (WOWS) you should have 1-2 per/day) that you have had 0. Personally I have had 13 of 327 from start to 8th of Feb and after patch 17 of 382 until yesterday. Alrigth it is personal anecdote, but say that you have had 200 TYL since October you have been extremely unlucky. Doable but then you are 1 in 10000. Killsteal? It is in most cases Killsecuring, only cases is maybe a CV that attacks a ship that isolated are under fire from several friendly ships and do not attack enemy ships far away that those friendlies can not reach. And sure there are some who holds fire, but remember even a ship that have 1 hp can cap, lauch a torp volley, as a BB delete an enemy in one salvo. I do not deny that there are a few examples that can be labeled killstealing but the important thing for XP is also to win. I would say that the lack of abilty to secure kills from some players are often a case to the defeat in some games. Thats why I try to secure kills. If a ship is burning/flooding you have also perhaps not always the concentration to be aware of the ships DCP status. May it come up before the ship sinks or in a BB get the Repair party up to partly compensate? You do not in hectic battlesituation have time to always count on that. In general it is also more important to reduce numbers of enemies rather than spread the fire, but not always of course. Radar through mountains? Well I can agree that radar/hydro if that was programmable should not be able to go through mountains, but secure ships that was in line of sight. However if you are behind the mountain yopu are at least normally safe if you do not have an enemy that can fire at you. But it is also a question of simplicity. Well I can agree that some ships can be deemed OP or UP compared with rest at the same tier but it is not easy to value perks. I have ships that have taken very long to adjust to RN cruisers f.e. while some ships f.e. German low/mid tier BBs are very easy to play with a decent result. But they might instead have lower skill ceiling. I am very inspired by LittleWhiteMouses reviews on various premiums + a few tech trees ships. Watching various guides on Yoiutube helps, try learning everything by just playing takes indeed long time. Well the MM part I can somewhat agree to, if the player base is large enough I would have preferred +/-1 meaning that you either with a T8 are in a fight w T7 and T8 or T8 and T9. Sure adapt your playstyle (Tungstonid) is valid but it is more a question of fun and comfort as certain tiers are statistically unlucky. While I agree that you can adapt I want to have with a certain ship equal opportunity that play as top tier as bottom tier. I have several ships that I would have played more f.e. at T5 if I was not uptiered that much vs downtiered as they are very poor uptiered. At T5 I play König and Kamikaze as I manage them at T7 but I do not like Omaha f.e. that much.

Gnirf replied to zmeul's topic in General Discussion
Those missions are at a level that is suited to high tier and the easiest way is just to play to best of your ability and hope that stars align, do not concentrate too hard and it might come to you. I play as usual if I succeed it is good if not ... -

Met Raziel_Walker in his Shimakaze today at Haven. He played very well and secured with some capping and late torping of a Kurfurst together with an good Montana driver in Zemeritt + NemesisJWD in DM our victory. This three were top of my teams scoreboard, ended 4th in my FdG. Very close, well played and exciting game which i followed after I was sunk to the end, 2 remaining ships on each team. Gave all topscorers karma increase.
