Fairly new to WoW, supported the game by buying premium, got an Atago and as my stats show, I suck big time I am sure there are games available where I can help a TEAM, (definition for those that don't know what this word means: group of players that work TOGETHER) and the team can win and help me not to suck... BUT I have found a real lack of team player mentality on this game - and I gotta say the game does not lend itself to team play. An example is on a number of occasions I have stayed with the AC to help fend off planes and only got shot down award for doing so. Didn't mind cos that what a TEAM member does. I have also found you lot are very quick to criticise. So - need a team that will help me play my Atago well, where we can work together to win some matches. AND, WG - why not bolster up the functionality of the team so that teams can play a role and work together? A month on ........ and I would like to offer suggestions and opinions.. But first - what would I say to some one new? How to explain World of Warships to someone wanting to start. Well, you are given a ship and put in a group. Low tier and limited everything as you are limited in your knowledge. It is strongly suggested that you look at the on-line vids that show how you aim, fire and destroy (or try to destroy) other players ships. When you get into the map you are going to play, DO NOT by ANY stretch of imagination, believe that you are in a team because you are not. You are playing by yourself and if you EVER get someone directing you more likely than not, they will be calling you an idiot for doing so. Then there may be people on YOUR side that think you look like a good target and will either fire at you or spam torpedoes at you. (true story that) You fire guns, spam torps, 20min of life gone. Fun - No Is this a group game? - No Is this a team game - No Is it easy to create groups and fight together - No Will I resub premium ??? NO Disappointing P.S. And for those that mistakenly say that purchasing a premium ship is wrong, take time to explain why - specifically from the pixel perspective. I can see that there is a difference if you don't know how group mechanics work, but as I have posted out in the post - THERE IS NO DISCERNIBLE TEAMWORK! Thank you

Very impressed Esa how you derive my inept skill from my history. However, lets tell you about my mind-set going into each battle. I want to have FUN. If in a DD - I shoot forward and scout - spam torps and more often than not get into situations where I get everyone shooting at me. I don't hang back or camp the starting area - I want to blast the sh*t out of the opposition group. I am Leroy Jenkins. When in a the Murmansk, I found the startlingly good RoF is a great deterrent for the groups DD so I make sure that the opposing group is getting HE fire rain down on it so that our DD can finish them off with torps. So, I help my group AND have fun at the same time. The Atago is more used by assisting the CV with AA cos I am a glass cannon. So, my tactics are team focused, my MINDSET is team focused at whatever level. However, I can say that whatever I have learnt at tier 1 is directly applicable at tier 8. And JDredbull - agree completely - It is JUST a game. Thanks for your input

Tugnut - here is my issue with your suggestions. Whatever tier I play, I will have to learn how to play it. It doesn't matter if I start with a tier 10 ship, the mechanics are the same, Aim, shoot, hit or miss. It is a game, made of pixels, so there are no resource repercussions, nothing that dictates why it is better to start at a lower tier. Except for 1 possible situation...... The ONLY difference I see is if the group on the opposing side work together better than my group, that dictates the outcome. So, teamwork is the awesum sauce that allows one to win constantly. Hanging out in TS is also a waste if WG do not implement a team capability. So, until that happens, I will play ... sometimes... on my Atago and wish for a better group.

Thanks for replying Drycon... but you need to answer one small question... WHAT TEAM?? - how can I be a burden to a team if I have NEVER seen any teamwork.? Yes, a team is described as you have, but if it is a number of people in gamechat, swearing and abusing people (not me btw) for being cowards and dickheads is your version of a team - I want nothing of that. And Gilles - look forward to playing with you.

Many thanks for your replies, good to see that the majority of you had constructive comments - and with the exception of being called a stupid human because I bought a higher tier ship, I appreciate your feedback. There was one glaring omission - the subject matter. The subject was about teams - where are they, why is there not a team based structure in the game, Why the "team" is limited to max 3 players in game (on the default comms selection), but I see no team playing in this game. Back to the other comments. Thank you for your affirmation Ducat, that I suck at this tier, but it is the most fun and I will keep on playing it as I like it. Target me and kill me if you want as I believe in getting in the middle of it and mixing it up, so should be fairly easy, but I will not stop playing it! BTW Kurbain, I have watched the iChase videos on the captains academy. He has good information that act on. I have given the game a month and if I do not see evidence of teaming, I will go elsewhere.

New player to WoW here, not new to MMO's Was playing a ocean map today, doing what I do well - firing at everything and missing magnificently when I had a proximity alarm of torpedos. Saw them and the direction they came from was outside the limits of the map. I knew this as I was 1.2 km from the edge. Happened again and tried to track them to see the DD that shot them and was surprised that all of my looking AND my spotter plane could not find it and there was no smoke. While I was looking for him, a battleship got me ..LOL I play DD's and I understand the evasion techniques, but has anyone else been sunk by an invisible DD?

Many thanks for the suggestions and the replies about the possibilities. So, let me cover some of these off. The game was without Aircraft carriers. That much I do remember as those pesky little buggers always seem to like me So I believe that effectively rules out torp planes. No, I cannot prove that this situation existed as I do not record every game, but the reason why this stuck in mu mind was it was in the ocean arena (no islands) so the spotting distance should be in effect for DD unless there is smoke. However, I got to say, I have asked if others can confirm it has happened NOT blaming or insinuating. That is all
