    Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

    So what is there for destroyers? If you give BBs more precise guns that they'll be able to deal with dds with easy especially if they are closer to them. And with much greater RoF and long duration radar cruisers will also be able to deal with them as easy in very short time. Maybe we should give them longer range torps, with some 20km range, so they can operate out of radar detection range and maybe a little faster torp so they actually can hit something. But then BBs could not get closer as they will fear new torps all probably stay further away a shoot at the cruisers, with now more precise guns, while those trying to get closer to dds so they can find/fight them. And that will help cruisers survivability a lot. IMHO only way to somewhat fix this quickly, with current meta and without some extensive balancing of classes and individual ships is to limit number of BBs (2 to 3) and DDs (3 to 4) per battle but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

    New Japanese Destroyers - a Sneak Peek

    I'm looking forward to these new IJN destroyers. I generally like playing dds, especially Japanese, and those 4 ships are very beautiful. But I hope that stats that could be find on several websites are not final and they will be changed, for a better of course. If they stays the same then grinding the stock Fubuki and Hatsuharu with those 6km torps and detection range of 7km and 6.7km respectively will be really painful unless you have enough free xp to spend for better torps. Or, for example, to me it ridiculous that T7 Akatsuki and (premium) T7 Leningrad have almost the same surface detection range considering that: 1) Leningrad is much larger than Akatsuki and 2) Akatsuki is basically a Fubuki with different propulsion and yet it have a 0.4 km higher detection range in the game. I hope that WG will leave something that will be unique for the line, ship with best torps or stealties ships or whatever. If I have to chose universal dd than I would probably use the US one. I wonder what will happen with them once German, British, Italian, French or any other nation dds line comes around.

  4. Aren't destroyers just the same priority target from the moment they are spotted? Or any other ship that get to close to enemy alone? Look at difference between Flint and Atlanta. Both have short range guns so they have to get closer to be able to deal any damage. But Flint has mean to brake contact once things starts to go bad, while Atlanta don't. By current available stats RN cruiser guns have rather short range compared with other ships in respective tears. Leander guns have range of 12km (13.2 with upgraded GFCS), Fiji and Edinburgh 14km (15.4km with GFCS). They have to get closer to they targets that for example its Russian counterpart. And closer target will immediately become a focus of enemy fire when spotted. If you don't succeed to brake contact you could die quite fast. If you succeed to brake contact you'll have a change to think a new plan or wait better opportunity. There is enough time in the game to something but you can do that only if you are alive. But this is just my opinion based mostly on my play style and my experience. I could be wrong. Also all of this reasoning is based on the current available stats that could (and probably should) be changed. Maybe speed boost could help them the same way but I doubt it will work for every ship the same. Leander have speed of 32.5 kn. Even with speed boost she won't be much faster that Budyonny (35 kn), Molotov (36 kn) or Aoba (35 kn). Same goes for Fiji. Speed boots for destroyers usually give them some 3 to 4 kn more speed if I'm remember correctly. Longer range could also help. Problem is I don't know what is these cruisers primary role. To fight primary dds or other cruisers of AA or just to be there and fight anything they see.

IMHO only way that the RN cruisers could be useful in the current meta, dominated by large numbers of BBs, is that they have possibility to brake contact with enemy if things are going bad and to me that would mean a smoke. I think that they should have smoke but only with short duration, about 30s to 40s long, a reduced area that smoke will cover. Enough to give them a chance to drop out of their detection range. Sure they could use it for a offensive purposes but it would be too short in duration to enable them more than 3 to 4 salvos while they were covered by smoke. By current stats, that of course could be changed, they are not the fastest cruisers at respective tears and speed boost would not give them much, if any, advantage compared to other cruisers. If somebody could hit Russian or Japanese cruiser I don't see how he would have a problem to hit RN cruiser at similar speed. If they buff their speed above other cruisers than that will be directly affected some destroyers, especially Japanese, because they would be than unable to run away and brake contact if spotted. Unless, of course, this is what they trying to achieve. But generally I think that there should be some class limitation for both BBs an DDs, for example up to 1 to 2 CV, 2 or 3 BBs, 3 to 4 DDs max per match. Rest could be divided between CA and CL once they separate Cruisers branches.

  7. Well, just like you I finished all eight missions except these two. So I bought Hosho as that is the only carrier I researched though I never played it. It took me three battles achieved 5 torp hits and finished mission and at the same time received "King of the party". Hope that I'll never have to do that again because I was so bad with it especially in the first game. So if you so far researched any cv why don't you give it a try. Couple of battles in co-op could be enough. And currently there is a discount for carriers.

    Well majority of destroyers from that era had similar hulls. As I said all RN destroyers from emergency programs were based on J & K class hulls and equipped with whatever guns were available. Mahan class is older that J/K class.

    Ship in the photo is HMS Terpsichore and it's based on the same hull as J & K class destroyers which was standard for all war emergency classes.

    Well HMS Jervis or any other RN J,K or N class premium destroyer would be even better. It would be an insult to give any British ship first under some other nation flag before its original owners. But Wicher class destroyer could be a nice addition.

    I like idea to have a choice between two hulls, one with better primary guns and the other with better AA. I think that with 6 guns it would be a really good ship.

    You mean AFT? Well Omaha with its 152mm guns doesn't profit any more from this. IMHO Omaha is a great ship but off course it has some weaknesses and the biggest one is its range. With just 12.7km range it has the shortest range among t5 cruisers and that, if you are a bottom tear in the game could be a big problem.

  14. Missing R Project event I was quite exited about this one. And it wasn't bad. You had some missions to do and there were some prizes to get for just playing and that was good. But unfortunately I must say that I'm not completely satisfy with it. IMHO some of the missions were too demanding. I mean 300 and 500 battles in five weeks! Especially if you have a job. During the event I did 202 battles, half of them in the first 10 days. But I was so exhausted after first 100 that I thought to just stop and leave it there. Personally I wasn't satisfy with those play X number of battle with this or that type of ship. I tried to finish that "Play 20 Battles with Battleship" but after just 6 games decided to stop simple because I'm really bad with them. I could push to 20 even though that I wouldn't contribute much to my team in those battles but I choose to stop there simple because it seems unfair to other team members. So I was quite annoyed when in the 4th week there was a new mission with battleships just this time I would have to play additional 20 games. So generally good idea, there were some nice things like premium ships, port slot and some other stuff, but also there were lot of space for improvements. One thing is sure, communication between staff and player base should/must be better.

    Number of players from one country could be relatively easy to get by their IP address but to find out in which ship is a player interested you can only get from polls and even than they will not cover all players. Personally I would prefer RN ships even thought I'm not British but there is no way that WG could know that unless I tell them that specifically in some way or another. What I want to say is that IMHO it is unrealistic to expect that WG will add a new ship in the game just on the base of its nation role or size during the war. We have two Chinese ships in the game while Chinese Navy (I'm talking here about its open see part) contribution to the war was minimal and both entered Chinese service after the war.

    Define "deserve a place". If they talking about premium ships there are several candidates beside France and Italy. There are some interesting Swedish, Spanish or Argentinian ships, but basically they could add ship from any navy that existed in that time. I guess that ship will depend more from player base of some country than its navy historical contribution to the war. If, for example, Balkan provide more players than Scandinavia I think there is better chance to see some Yugoslav, Romanian or Greece ship.

    With what ships? There were three or four possible Chinese cruiser classes, one or two Chinese destroyer classes, I think one Siam destroyer class and one Siam coastal ship that could be worth to be included in the game. All later Chinese ships were mix of former Japanese, US, USSR or British ships. And I don't think there were many ships in planing/development phase to fill any tree. All other countries in the Asia at that time were colonies or didn't have navy at all. And if WG decide to add post-war Indian Navy for example all it ships will be actually former RN ships. That could be a good thing for the British.
  20. Well if I counted missions correctly next week we can only expect new 100k XP mission. If that is true than it could be difficult to collect 12 million diamonds.

  22. Well, you still have more then me (60). I didn't researched any CV (yet), don't play BBs, and suck with DDs ... so that leaves only Cruiser based missions for me. BTW my best score with them, and the generally in the game, is 2077xp so no diamonds for that 2500xp mission for me.
  23. I would like both Tachibana and Katori, but realistically with my skill and available time I would never be able to collect 600 diamonds. So Tachibana is more realistic and obtainable option.
