ST. Cruiser Alaska. In the previous publication about cruiser 'Alaska' (https://www.facebook.com/wowsdevblog/posts/2197293710596964?__tn__=-R) we talked about an increase to the number of hit points in the internal compartments and that it was not possible for us to raise the citadel due to the modelling. But following player discussion, we found information about a missed armored deck that is placed lower than we expected, and we can now raise the citadel to an acceptable level above the waterline. In light of this, the cruisers citadel has been raised and the previous scheduled changes to the internal compartments have been cancelled. We want to say thanks for all players who participated in the discussion and helped us identify this oversight. This change will bring the survivability and other parameters associated with the viability of the ship to the norm at its level, while maintaining the unique elements of gameplay in this cruiser. Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary.

Looks like a lot of Zombie threads are rising this Halloween.

It is actually a Kutuzov with better torps, less range and no smoke. T10 PA DW torpedos and TRB at T8 are ridicules choice. I doubt this will pass a testing phase. I hope that WG won't try to balance ships around torps and consumable rather than the other way around.

Well whatever you decide I have to say that you and all who work on organization of tournament are doing a great job and I enjoyed this weekend watching Last 16/Quarterfinals. Keep with a good work
-
Well you had one team that bring 5 of them while the rest usually had 1-3. I won't debate how much five Stalingrads contribute to TWA victories and how much their skill as they are undoubtedly one of the best clans on EU, if not the best one. Anyway there was a lot of talk before that Stalingrad will not make Moskva obsolete in competitive but with only one exception, OMNI, this seems to be a case at least for the Last 16 and Quarterfinals of this tournament.
-
Well you only asked about banning Stalingrad, why not question about limiting number of Stalingrad per team? Or change question so that you offer three choices - leave it, ban it or limit it?
-
It will also see T6 DDs. I don't say that LT is a good ship but it shouldn't be balanced by the fact that it could see T10 ships. If MM ever change and T8 MM change to better suddenly you have a ship that is to strong compared to same tier DDs. IMO she needs a smoke, some kind of it, either RN or German or regular one but I'm definitely against heal. I think that WG rushed with LT, before it was properly balanced but also that they spent to much effort to balance it around gimmicks instead of ship characteristics.
-
I think that only team that bring Moskva in KOTS during the weekend was OMNI and only team that didn't have a single Stalingrad was GREY but only because two players that have Stalingrad were absent. I saw only one YY on Saturday, Gearing, Haragumo and Grozovoi only other DDs being used. I don't think there is a single team that didn't bring Worcester, while there were games without single Zao, DM or Hindy. Seems like meta definitely changed since last KOTS.

The Ranked One thread (post here when you reach Rank I)
fumtu replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
Reached R1 in 27 Battles all in Kami. Beside usual "Noob Team" this season in my experience wasn't to much toxic. I managed to end season with +10 karma then before season so I must have done something right -
This is pre-buff value. Released version has better concealment.

Are the Ovechkin Containers only supposed to be completed with Cash?
fumtu replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Got today 7th collection item and 5th duplicate from two regular containers so it is still possible to get them. It is just bad luck, yesterday I didn't get any but today got two. I doubt there is time limitation for collection items.- 26 replies

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
fumtu replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
They are not changing normalization. They simply putting a limit on how much BB AP pen can deal damage on the DD. That is all. All other things are unchanged. Not sure are you talking about this change or you are talking about some other proposal. -
This weeks RN Missions - Why do Cossack missions need 750k "Potential" Damage not "Spotting" Damage? It's not a BB WG!!!
fumtu replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
It is easier to get 750k potential damage than same amount of spotting damage. Spot first one torpedo salvo and that is already around 100k of potential damage. -

This will not affect cruisers, only DDs. Interaction of BB AP and cruiser armour, no matter the thickness, will stay the same. Again, Sharny and AGS don't need buffs, they are already good ships, statwise. It is questionable how much will AP change impact this ship. If impact is minimal than there is no need to change anything. If on the other hand impact is significant than those two ships should be buffed in the way that improve their ability to deal damage to DDs, not with some general buffs as they don't need that. Things like better AP angles or MBRB are direct buffs to those ships no matter are they facing DD or ship from any other class. Also improved autobounce angles will more hurt cruisers than DDs and T5-T6 cruisers are already enough vulnerable to BB APs. For example improved secondaries would also have global impact but they will mostly hurt ships that are at close range like DDs who is trying to rush a BB. At longer range Sharny will still have AP and HE to deal damage to DD and while this damage could be a lower than before I think that is acceptable. Another way could be a little buff to HE damage. Again it will overall hurt all classes but it was DD that would suffer the most. -

Well let's see first how this changes with AP interaction with DDs will impact those ships and does any of those ships would needs any buffs. Both ship have quite good stats and it is questionable will those changes, if they go live, will have any significant impact on them. If they need any buffs then those buffs should be in the way that target only effectiveness of those two ships in relation with DDs not all classes which means that I'm against adding MBRB to Spee and Sharny. The easiest way would be simply move gun caliber limit to 12 inch guns or buffing secondary guns. -
ST. Operations updates. In connection with the future change to CV gameplay, some operations will be modified. Updated operations "Newport", "Narai", "Aegis" and "Killer Whale". In operation "Newport", aircraft carriers Zuiho, Hiryu, and Lexington were replaced by Myogi, Yamato, and Baltimore, respectively. In the operation of "Narai", enemy Ranger is replaced by battleship New York, and the possibility to use planes is removed from Lexington. Also, the appearance of enemy ships is ordered in this operation. The same ships will appear at a certain time now. In operation "Aegis", all enemy aircraft carriers are replaced with lower tier Japanese battleships, and the allied CV is replaced with Baltimore. All the enemy aircraft carriers were replaced by Germany/Japan battleships with lower tier in operation "Killer Whale" . Tasks and voice in operations are aligned with these changes. Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary.

Well compare this ship with the other ships from the same era, for example Virginia Class Cruisers ... ... or Spruance Class Destroyer ... .. or Sovremennyy Class destroyer .. or any other ship form USN, RN, Soviet Navy and you'll find it that Drazki (former HNLMS Wielingen) is nothing spectacular even for its time. Yes it is. It belongs to the last conventional cruiser class built by Soviets even tho during the lifetime some of the ships in class received AS Missiles. WoWs has number of ships that were build or finished after the war. Kutuzov even tho completed in 1954 still predate Drazki by almost 25 years.
-
In my 3 years of playing WoWs there was only one discount on permanent camos and even than only on T6-T9 (50% discount just before US Cruiser line split). There was never a discount on T10 camos as far as I know.
-
Well if some particular ship suffer from loosing 2% of concealment WG could buff it by lowering its base concealment. Just because couple of ship could have problem it doesn't mean that it is a bad change. For some cruisers this is not a bad change as they are now outspotted by less, and some with none, BB.
-
You mean Wooster and Seattle, Chapy still can stealth radar even if CE standardisation goes live. Generally it is not a bad change, somebody on the Reddit calculate new concealment values for all T8-T10 CL/CAs, BBs and CVs and it seems like it won't affect cruisers that much, in fact some of the cruisers that were now outspotted by BBs won't be anymore if this go live, which is not a bad thing.

Haragumo don't need IFHE to deal damage to Khaba. With 1/4 pen it can pen hull parts (bow and stern) that are 19mm and all superstructure, with IFHE it can also pen small part of deck which is 25mm thick, but even with IFHE it can't pen with HE parts of the hull with 50mm of armour (hull side armour).

Both Haragumo/Kitakaze are recent addition to the game. WG usually don't nerf ships that soon after release, only very rarely if there is an outcry from a player base, like in the cases of Conqueror and Wooster, but even then very reluctantly. Khaba was OP for more than a year before WG started implementing nerfs. Usually they collect data for almost a year and then according to their stats they decide does the ship needs nerf of buff or whatever. YY and other PA DDs received first nerf almost eight month after release. So the thing that Haragumo/Kitakaze are not nerfed so far desn't mean that they won't be nerfed in the future. Same situation is with Daring with is just released to the game. Sorry but all stats are showing that Khaba is still really good and even in recent Q&A with S_O he confirmed that they are consider Khaba fine in current state and have no intention to change anything for now.

Let's do this in reverse - what's the WORST ship for the Ranked Sprints?
fumtu replied to Tyrendian89's topic in General Discussion
Basically any cruisers. Depending on MM they could do good but as I expect lot of BBs and DDs and possibly even quite frequent CVs I don't see how any of them could be consistently good as all of them are really, really squishy. Emile Bertin could be decent due her speed and decent AA and Kirov has a great guns but if they caught in the open by BB they are dead.
