Steel for money, steel from campaign, steel everywhere
fumtu replied to FeelTheseTorps's topic in General Discussion
Well you are right ... kind of. It started as reward for CWs but this was changed later. Even before Stalingrad is released or even steel was actually introduced, S_O on Reddit already mentioned that they will find a way that everyone could obtain Stalingrad. He did mention that it won't be easy way but the fact is Stalingrad, once released, was already available to everyone who has enough steel to buy it. So you can't look on it as something exclusively limited only to CW. What CW enable is to get required amount of steel much faster then the rest of playerbase. Main problem now seems that WG is introducing other way to obtain steel, even worse the way to, kind of, "buy" it. I personally don't see any problem if people could get small amount of steel via other activities outside CW or ranked but I don't like this way of buying it, but in the end WG is a business company so, even tho I don't like it, I'm not surprised to much by this move. -
Actually La Gasoline did have 7.5s reload when it was initially tested, but soon this was changed to 10s just to be little buffed later to 9s. You can see that initial fast reload in Flamu's first video about ship https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1yGPFEvfNo

Did anyone get "Black" ship from 5 non-Premium "Black Friday" containers (rewarded for playing Combat Mission Chain ""Thankful and grateful")?
fumtu replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
2 containers, both camos. I expect the same from any additional container I could get -
On higher tiers no, hydro is way better choice. Spotter plane as DD consumable only have sense on lower/mid tiers (T4 - T7 max). T5 and T6 would probably be the best place for them. Still would like to see one of those Fletchers with plane
-
Well we had a decent team and you carried us to the victory. While it is good to have at least two BBs for KW I personally prefer cruiser and even a destroyer for it. By far the hardest part in this scenario is communication with the rest 6 players especially if the exit point is on the north. And that V-25 ... how I hate that V-25.
-
You mean something like current BBs fighter planes, short duration and not changing aim view. That could work. There is no chance that there could be entire DD line with spotter plane consumable. There are very few DDs that actually could carry floatplane, even less that could launch one from catapult. Also few navies experimented with them but there are rarely more than one of two prototypes, two few for even the subbranch. Radar made spotter plane quite obsolete so it would be impossible to find high tier DDs for a line. Unless WG introduce a new consumable - a helicopter. Still, if properly balanced ships like USS Pringle, USS Charles Ausburn or one of Admiralen class DDs could be interesting premium for lower/mid tier DD.
-
First from what I found about that Italian DD project Tosi with spotter plane it would be quite week with only three gun mounts. But generally there is a big problem with usability of spotting plane on DDs mostly because of gun velocity. For example Fletcher with spotter plane would really struggle to hit anything at max range because of massive lead. Also due spotter plane view it would be difficult to shoot even on closer targets. I could be interesting premium but I doubt it could work with current spotter plane mechanic.

Some of Dutch Admiralen Class Destroyers could carry a floatplane. Only thing is it couldn't be launched from the ship. Instead it should be put on the water by crane and then take of from water. I couldn't find any proper image of the ship with floatplane but I found some images of the model http://www.steelnavy.com/HPKortenaerMM.htm Several ships of the Fletcher Class were equipped with catapult and spotter plane. But to create place for catapult one gun and one torpedo launcher had to be removed https://warfarehistorynetwork.com/daily/wwii/seaplane-destroyers-in-the-pacific/ This could be interesting T7 premium, it loose too much for that plane to be at T8. There also a Clemson Class DD which was modify to carry seaplane, USS Charles Ausburn with quite unusual placing for a plane, in front of the bridge This is what I could find about Italian Tosi destroyer proposal https://stefsap.wordpress.com/2016/09/26/tosi-destroyer-escort-project-1937/

But not in the way they were first announced and I doubt that we will see Neusomething before 2019. Seems like this line would not be released. At least not as a silver ships. Indonesia used several Smeliy class DDs, Poland and Egypt were only other foreign users of the class. One of Kotlin Class (Project 56 Class) destroyers was transferred to Polish Navy and served as ORP Warszawa. My guess that all of those models were, more or less completed and we will see them sooner or later as premium ships for Soviet, PE and PA trees.

Gearing with Fletcher torps is not bad either. Full torp spec could bring reload to 82s and they also deal more damage. Detection range is quite worse, 1.4km, but they are not bad torps at all. And they could hit DDs. Z-52 could bring its reload time to little less than 69s. Sure less damage and range, but they are fast with 69kn and you can span a lot of them. Shima could bring its reload to 115s with one more launcher, not counting LU. Ok, I maybe made a mistake and YY could still be a good torpedoboat when totally spec for torps, but the best? I don't know to me it doesn't look like it.

Anybody knows are there any discounts on in game ships for doubloons?

As gunboat - There are better gunboats As torpedoboat - There are better torpedoboats As hybrid - There are better hybrid DDs YY is now so mediocre in everything and for whatever role you try to use it, there is a ship that will do that role better. Only uniq thing is a radar but as much as it is powerful, YY is sacrificing so much for it. And once radar mechanic change, for example if WG implement idea with spotting delay for other ships, event that radar would be less useful because of short duration. And radar is only viable as long as there is no CV present. If/when CV get to CW, YY will lose its place even in that mode. I am also against all those proposal to increase concealment instead of nerfing guns and torps. YY have two things against other DDs, guns and concealment. Once he loose either of them it become much weaker. With concealment of 6-6.2km, YY would be outspotted or spotted at the same time with ships like Grozo, Daring or Haru and those ships could outgun old YY as they don't have to worry about torps. They can simple chase it to death. YY concealment enable it to try to avoid fight with those DDs, with increased concealment this would not be a case. Even the radar wouldn't mean much. Anyway, YY is now the worst choice for T10 DD, only saving grace are PA smoke or radar consumable. If someone can make them efficiently work for him that it could still be decent ship but if not them there is not a single point playing it anymore.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
fumtu replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
So ... Yahagi guns are the same guns as secondary guns on Kongo and Fuso and they have rate of fire of 6 RPM or 10s reload. Historical value is as good as any for start value. As I said I doubt it will stay that slow. -

As I suspected, torp angles are bad. Maybe WG could somewhat increase backwards torpedo angles but but there is very little room to increase forward angles if any. 10s is historically correct. I doubt it will stay that slow. 7.5-8s would be more appropriate but even then it is questionable would it be enough. -
promised T9 Premium DD: finally here?
fumtu replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
In that case you would get T9 Udaloy with premium camo. If you have premium camo for Udaloy it would be transferred to Neusomething but you will have to buy Tashkent as now it would be a new premium. Generally I think that solution has way more sense then keeping Udaloy where it is and add Neusomething as premium. -
Yes, I know what he said and I don't agree with that. I always expected for YY to be nerfed at some time as it is true that its stats are much better than majority of the T10 DDs, but so are all other PA DDs starting from Fushun. I expected that WG will actually tweak YY so that it stay good but that its general performance would be more closer to other DDs. But seems like WG decided to simply take sledgehammer and slam ship to oblivion. Their explanation is totally unreasonable, seems like what they wanted is simple put YY stats to levels of less performing T10 DDs and they wanted to that fast. Fact that out of all PA DDs only YY is nerfed is clear indication that this was done due new season of CW. Ironically now YY is only viable for CWs due radar, for randoms there are now far better choices. Hell even having Chung Mu in T10 match will now be advantage over having YY.
-
Well I assume that better average damage by (almost) all PA DDs came from first - better torpedo detection range which enables them to lend more torps on both cruisers and BBs and second - the best DD smoke in the game. Fushun, GM, Chung Mu are all top silver DD at their tier. Only exception is Hsienyang, which I didn't like and generally consider worse ship than Benson, but still among top 4 T8 DD overall and I doubt that that is due its guns because they are not that great. I wouldn't mind if WG actually additionally nerfed PA smoke or torps or just YY torps/torpedo reload but nerfing guns is totally unnecessary. If combination of guns and radar was problem the could nerf radar duration, prevent mounting radar module or simple remove radar completely. Guns were YY balance in relation with other DDs, even with 3sec reload, ships like Daring or Haragumo would outgun it, with 4sec everybody could comfortably take fight with it and have a good change to win even without using torps. Also as YY can't torp other DDs it will now be even easier to rush YY in his smoke, with or without hydro.

Musashi & Krohnstadt to be removed from sale (both coal & FXP) in 0.8.0.

Where is a Giulio Balancere? -
Interestingly every BB nerf or any change that not favourite BBs usually brings same old argument that this is bad because it will make BBs more camping. When we will get to the max camping BBs if every change is just making them more camping? What is the most camping BB?
-
Will maybe try YY in ranked, but won't bother to even try it in randoms. Glad I didn't bought perma camo even tho I considered it. Somehow I expected that YY will receive some nerf but not nearly this drastic. So from a great ship we got a castrated one, hybrid which is mediocre in every aspect. If WG at least tried to balance its LU accordingly but now just to get back some of the RoF and Torpedo reload it lost with this nerf you also have to sacrifice the only remaining thing YY left, its concealment. And ironically radar duration too. Well done WG, really well done. Minor effect indeed.
-
So do you think that premium ships should also be balanced taking into consideration also a resource you should use to obtain it? Does steel ship has to be better then coal ship? I mean if Azuma ends to be coal of FXP ship would you still consider that is should be equally strong to Stalingrad? IMO Azuma should be alternative to Zao in IJN tree. I don't say that currently is a good ship. But I don't think that this ship, or any other should be balanced on the premise, "Why would I buy this over that". What I want to say is that people have quite common practice to choose a really strong if not OP ship at some tier and try to compare a new ship to it. Why would I play this or that ship over GM, Kami, GC, Belfast ... On the same way now seems that Stalingrad is a new measure what T10 premium cruiser should be. Is Stalingrad OP or not? It is certainly a strong ship and I personally don't think that it should be used as measure of what Azuma should be. I'm already seeing a request to give it a radar or AP angles because Stalingrad has it. Make Azuma a strong ship, give her torps or whatever, make her uniq in some way, sure but please don't make it an IJN copy of Stalingrad.
-
On the other hand it is interesting how Stalingrad now become new standard to determine is the new ship good or bad. And I thought that Stalingrad should be a worthy prize for those who suffered in CW but now seems that every new ship needs to be at least equally good. Also improved AP angles are now must have thing on everything.

ST. Map changes. Okinawa. The location and height of the Islands have been changed for a more comfortable game for all classes of ships, at the same time, the overall landscape of the area has been saved. Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary.

fumtu replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
AA should be good. Even only four 130mm guns, but the rest, 4x4 45mm, 2x4 25mm, is the same as Grozovoi. Also five consumables, including both DFAA and Heal on separate slots. 20.4k HP and Concealment are also good. Guns are good, only thing is there were only four of them. Torps could be better tho. Maybe either somewhat better torps or better reload time on them and it could be a decent ship. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
fumtu replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Yes I understand that but this doesn't change the fact that Texas don't need buffs. Sorry but I don't see a point of buffing the ships that are performing good by stats. To me it sound logic for Texas and NY to be more distinguished between each other.
