AFT or manual AA for AA cruisers?!
fumtu replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
I you share him with Atlanta then go with AFT. But just for Wooster I would go with MAA. Continuous damage is more reliable and can't be dodged by planes. Also next hotfix will probably additionally nerf Flak damage for T8-T10 ships. I suggest that you wait at least till next hotfix, probably next Thursday and then respec captain. -
AFT or manual AA for AA cruisers?!
fumtu replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
In current state Manual AA is better option, in most cases, as Flak damage is significantly reduced while now all three AA sectors, long, middle and short range AA, provide continuous damage to planes . -
Here you go: T3 Knyaz Suvorov T4 Gangut T5 Pyotr Velikiy

Well this game would run out of content quite fast if it only include ships that actually existed. Only three, soon to be four, lines were made of entirely real ships and only two more had just one "fantasy" ship in it. Out of 7 regular French BBs, 4 of them never existed and I don't see you complaining about that. Not a single regular T9 cruiser was ever finished and only two T10 cruisers, DM (and her sister ship Salem of course) and Wooster ever sailed. Only one T10 BB existed and, counting JB and Musashi, only three T9 BBs were real. So you maybe don't like it but if you want this game to grow you need paper ships for that.

Just one note. Seems like on PTS, values for AA for T6 and T7 are still pre 0.8.0.1. Also after next hotfix of hotfix, AA values for T8-T10 should also be reduced. Soviet BBs are actually quite strong. Sure they could be citadeled, which is a good thing, but if you angle they could be really tanky. They are very resilient on HE spam, with very little area that could be penetrated even with ifhe. Only Hindy and HIV (with ifhe) could actually pen decks of high tier BBs. And thanks to that bow lower plate increased armour they would be very hard to citadel from nose by Yamato and Musashi.

As long as there is also a name of the class/ship I wouldn't mind. But I don't want to guess what is that ship by looking in its tiny silhouette on team list.

While ship itself didn't suffer extensive damage she lost 9 crew members killed and lost large number of planes. HMS Formidable continue operations with remaining planes but was soon sent for repairs to Sydney. Also not all USN ships were crippled by Kamikaze hits. On 6th January cruiser USS Columbia was hit by Kamikaze while she was conducting offshore bombardments. She nevertheless continue with her mission. Even when couple of days latter, on 9th January, she was hit again with even greater loss of life she continue with support of landing troops.

You can find more about armour layout of T6-T10 Soviet BBs in Flamu video -
HMS Indefatigable, HMS Indomitable, HMS Victorious and HMS Formidable were hit by Kamikaze planes. British carrier HMS Formidable moments before and after it is hit by a Kamikaze, May 4th 1945. (Fleet Air Arm Museum) HMS Formidable vanishes behind an eruption of fire and smoke after a kamikaze and its 500lb bomb struck the armoured flight deck amidships.

On how to balance and refund OP premium ships - an inquiry
fumtu replied to Allied_Winter's topic in General Discussion
Problem with this is that with more "rebalanced" premiums number of same ship will increase significantly. Imagine two Belfasts, two Kamikazes, two Kutuzovs, two ... This is just a mess. Also retiering maybe won't work for every ship. What WG could do is to pair rebalance of some particular ship with release of some similar ship. For example pair rebalance of GC with VU so that people who don't want uptiered CG could get VU instead. With maybe special camo for them. Or create special premium ship for this occasion like GC sister ship Leonardo da Vinci in her original configuration balanced for T5. Another more simple option would be when uptiered those who want to keep GC could get special camo that gives better bonuses then regular one, like +50% XP and +100% FXP, something like that. Exeter release on 1st April confirmed- 118 replies

I think that there is a little "buff" (sort of) for Atlanta AA, just like all other ships. Now this doesn't mention long rang range AA guns specifically but I think that now long range AA will deal both continuous and flank burst damage but burst damage will be less effective. We will see will this be make Atlanta more effective against planes.

Looking at your stats you are doing quite good, way better then me. Try to ignore all stupid things people wright in chat and focus on those that are constructive. In the end even if you win it doesn't mean that everybody will be happy.

This is not a rule Bismarck - Tirpitz both T8 Gnais - Sharny both T7 Iowa - Missouri both T9 Farragut - Monaghan both T6 DM - Salem both T10 Minsk - Leningrad both T7 You also have cases where premium ships are tier higher then sister ships Alsace - Bourgone Richelieu - JB Gangut - OR Svietlana - Crappy Cream
-
Conte di Cavour should be on regular three. You can't use both sisters as premium ship. Leonardo Da Vinci never received upgrades as GC and CdC as she was lost in 1916. There is also another possibility to this. Maybe WG just want to test how good GC is at T6 so they can introduce a T6 Soviet premium battleship - Novorossiysk

Is it better to rebalance OP ship by uptiering it if possible instead of removing it from a shop? Especially famous and popular ships like Belfast. WG wasted a lot of time and resources to create model and "balance" (or not) a ship just to be forced to remove it just because their poor decisions. My personal opinion is that this is OK, as long as they stay strong (less OP) ships, in the new tiers. But I don't have either GC or Belfast so it is not up to me to decide. I think that WG could/should test it but if they want to do this than they should consult owners of those ships first and offer refund in real money for those who don't want it.
-
It is OK if you think that. Sorry but I have different opinion.
-
Thanks, but no, I don't need to re think. I don't miss RTS CVs. I don't expect for new CVs to be perfect, at least not in the first patch, but with lot of work and little patience they could be at least be good enough for the game.
-
Do I miss RTS CVs? Definitely not. I don't say that current CVs are fine, I think that there is still a lot to be done but with time they could be good.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
fumtu replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I didn't want to quote whole post but yes that is a great image Actually this is already 1941 refit Exeter. In game ship has two octuple 40mm AA mounts and 20mm gun pits on turrets. These were added in 1941. Also she has twin 4inch mount instead of original single mounts. -
This will be implemented sooner or later. Maybe it would be similar to old system with two CVs limit in lower and mid tiers and only one at high tiers. But I don't think that it is to realistic to get this right away. We will probably have to wait till CV hype pass for this.

LWM preliminary review of Exeter https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/181906-premium-ship-preview-hms-exeter-080/ I really hope that WG will bump it to T6. -
Only good thing, IMO, about using only even tier CVs is that there could be more CV lines then three, US, Japanese and British. For example Bogue could be used to create Commonwealth CV line as two of them were actually crewed by the Royal Canadian Navy, HMS Puncher and HMS Nabob. If you add HMAS Vengeance or HMCS Warrior (Colossus class) and HMAS Sydney or HMCS Magnificent (Majestic class) you need just one more to complete a line. In worst case WG can use IJN Viraat (ex HMS Hermes of Centaur class). Or find some paper ship for T10. But however I'm pretty sure that Bogue will return in one way or another. I doubt WG will discard already completed model just like that.

Shira and Kagero gun mounts had limited gun elevation which prevented them to be used against AA effectively. Among Fubuki class some ships of Ayanami sub class had mounts which provided better elevation but in game model doesn't have those mounts. That is why those ships main guns are not DP. Could WG change this? Sure, give Fubuki same mounts as Akatsuki and Kagero and Shira same mounts as Yugumo even thos this is not historically correct, well at least not for Shira and Kagero. Would WG do this? Well that is up to them. But if you think that those ships were in bad spot, check Kami, Shino and Asashio. I think that even announced Yuudachi only has 2 x 13.2mm heavy machine-guns. Not that RN low and mid tier DDs are any better against planes.

DD 0.8.0 The murder of an entire ship type
fumtu replied to Lady_godiva_s's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry, seems like we will get premium Cleveland class cruiser, just not on T6 but T8 and not Columbia but Montpelier.
