@Sentinel_Dreamer You are correct that one should be grateful for any and all gifts. The problem however is that the update not only utterly fails with the Dockyard being impossible to do without paying, it's that A) the directives in general have insane requirements (thus making it pretty darn difficult to even get the supposedly easy reward: Gorizia); B) the collection being behind a gate with items only in select containers (you can freely get only limited quantities, with bad RNG, you won't complete the collection); C) the new german commander Lutjens is only obtainable for coal (all others so far were reachable through more or less difficult missions); D) the snowflake rewards being worse than last year; E) various other absurdities like the one-day clan battles requiring even 12 players to play etc. Overall, sure you get some rewards, but they're far harder to reach (when they are even reachable at all) than last year and there's fewer of them, so...

The only way to be sure is to ask people with NA or RUS accounts that already have the update patched. They could see whether they get snowflakes on newly bought ships. That said, I'm reasonably sure you will get all those snowflake rewards on any newly gotten ships during the lenght of 0.8.11 (let's see how WG ruins even that one optimistic yet reasonabe expectation). In your case, @Jethro_Grey, you're only potentially risking 700 coal, 150 steel and one small gift crate. Honestly I'd value the FreeXP at more than that...

Hele, ono k popukání je toho vážně dost. Začal bych např. Lutjensem dostupným jen za pěkný balík uhlí. Ty šílené direktivy včetně Gorizie a navrch Puerto Rica asi už víc rozebírat nemusím.

New Year Gifts and Rewards: Your One-Stop Guide

Indeed, even going through the grind for Gorizia is questionable. It's absurd to the point that even if they were to start erasing zeros on the requirements, it'd still be quite a grind for Christmas. It's THAT crazy. As a free to play completionist, one that got Benham, PEF, Duke of York, Indianapolis and plenty others for "free", I'm starting to accept that I may not even be able to get Gorizia if work pans out to be what it currently appears during the Holidays. Based on the couple odd Word of Tanks videos I get to see on Youtube here and there, this Christmas grind appears to be even crazier than the already insane grinds they usually get. -

-
Umm, Žabáku, on si někdo z developerů opravdu myslí, že Puerto Rico lze získat zcela "zdarma"?

Thanks for laying bare all this utter absurdity. I hope you won't mind me directing people to those posts of yours in the future. You know, those people naive enough to think WG isn't death itself after our souls. -
New Year Gifts and Rewards: Your One-Stop Guide

Mate, forget about Puerto Rico. It's not even that good of a T10 ship (Smolensk or even Thunderer are better for Tier 10 based on all the previous CC testing, let alone Steel ships like Stalingrad, Bourgogne or Somers). Not even unicums grinding daily can reasonaly hope to achieve her for "free" (yu know, if they also like other occupations like say sleeping, eating, or god forbid have a job). If you have a chance to play daily for some amount, think about getting Gorizia. But again, that ship is nowhere near great going by all tests. So do not stress over the event, just get at least some coal and steel for Snowflakes (still less than last year because reasons ), get some of those various boxes for individual missions you'll eventually get just by playing and enjoy Christmas with family. -

Toivia replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in Novinky a důležité informace
Ále, nebuď labuť! Spole s 24k dublony utracenými ihned zezačátku za PR pořád ještě potřebuješ splnit alespoň 3 direktivy. Viz dle údajů z RU a NA serverů: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18K81nQ83MSN2Hu5AJQMbmk_CbtOM9K0tttOj0ac_G7Q/edit#gid=1629595453 Jo, a jen namátkou, jedna jediná mise z jediné direktivy třeba požaduje 85k base XP (z direktivy 2 - pozdější direktivy si žádají více a více grindu). /s -

New Year Gifts and Rewards: Your One-Stop Guide
Toivia replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Yeah, we are talking at the scale of a hundred battles (and Random/Ranked at that, not Coop) for individual missions in the directives. Granted, at earlier directives, missions will overlap - BUT in later directives, the requirements are separate. As in, get X millions of Y in French BBs (high tier ones), then another X millions of Y in Soviet DDs etc. And all that in three directives for Gorizia, which I'll remind everyone is not the next Belfast (not that I want it to be). The best compliment I've seen a CC give that ship is "average", "meh" or "Ok". And all of that nonsense in 7 directives, dailies etc. for Puerto Rico, which is also nowhere near the strenght of a number of previous Steel ships (Stalingrad, Bourgogne), potentially even a couple Coal and FreeXP ones (relative to their lower tier at T9, obviously). Seriously, people, before you commit even just for Gorizia, make sure you can spare the time during the Holidays for hundreds of battles to ultimately only get a so-so ship. I don't even want to think how many battles in total one would need for Puerto Rico. Gotta be thousands...- 372 replies

New Year Gifts and Rewards: Your One-Stop Guide
Toivia replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Just directive number 2 requires 85k base XP. (For PR, you need that done within one day, btw. ) Isn't that more than all base XP you are required in two consecutive updates with directives, usually? And that's one mission, one of a number you need to complete just for that one directive. And for Gorizia you also need the third directive as well. This is beyond insane.- 372 replies

What the F...?! Even Gorizia is a silly grind! Okay, no more me defending you, WG. So, what is actually really good in the end? 1 - Snowflakes are way worse than last year (and for fewer ships). 2 - Directives are way over the top (even for Gorizia, so forget about the silver T6 boats - without perma camos this time anyway). 3 - Puerto Rico is just plain unachievable due to directives, see above. 4 - Merely a week for Ranked Sprint. 5 - Lutjens for coal only. 6 - Collection items come only from specific containers. (Have fun NOT achieving the colection.) Like, wtf is supposed to be good about this event? I initially believed points 2 and 3 were gonna be fine/achievable which would be good enough, but here you have a full sixer of [edited]ups, WG. @Crysantos @MrConway @Sehales- 372 replies

It was funny when after typing that proposal I switched to his stream maybe a day or so later and he was talking about the same thing... I cannot help but think only Graf Zeppelin can get use of that small heal reliably. And that's still pointless if he takes no damage. So as dumb as it is, Gunther Lutjens kinda sorta works best on a secondary specced suicidal GZ. And then they decide to only offer Lutjens for exorbitant amounts of coal in the armory. You must never underestimate their ability to [edited]stuff up.
-
Oh well, apparently no change for spotting damage for the heal... So pretty useless for DDs still, sad.
-
Every rank irrevocable? I'm afraid that really sounds like a PTS specific boost. Well, I can only hope I'll dig out a T8 ship capable to somehow deal with everything (except CVs, of course, hopefully those will rank out much faster so I don't see them).
-
Hmm, and I was defending you with the Christmas directives, missions etc WG. What do you do? Release the next legendary commander directly to the armory for an absurd amount of coal (again, like with Kuznetsov). Guess I still won't get a special useful german commander then. Oh, and the 1v1 Ranked Sprint for only like a week over the holidays. Like the usual not even two weeks for Ranked Sprint wasn't a cutthroat deadine already. Not even gonna comment regular Ranked sesons that used to last well over a month (6 weeks or more) and now don't even stay for 4 weeks.

Oh lol, I've seen posts annoyed at the fact that there are more ships this year (86 to last year's 56, apparently?). So yeah, I'm definitely bamboozled here. Either way, it's not like I'll get any of the ships, so... have fun whales! -
New Year Gifts and Rewards: Your One-Stop Guide

Having the numbers of how long the construction takes and how much any booster helps would obviously be awesome. Without that data, it's pretty much impossible to know how realistic the completion is for a free to play grinder. While technically getting the 8 "free" boosts is enough to get Puerto Rico in time, we don't know if that would be the case if applying all of those 8 boosts after Christmas, for instance (because you just didn't have time earlier and directives still allow you to play them later albeit in a more focused way). If the boosts only provided a fixed amount of "building points", this all would be way more transparent and easier to predict. Given they increase the native rate of the construction, you obviously want to activate them at the earliest opportunity. And that's where other time gates come in. You cannot complete the last directives prior to january, which already limits the amount of boosts you can stack on early on. I mean I agree with you, but why are you arguing about low tier premiums in this thread at all? No lower than T5 premiums are in any way included. They don't get snowflakes, they are not necessary for missions, they are not issued as rewards... with the one obvious OP exception: Imperator Nikolai I. For very obvious reasons as it is otherwise impossible to get. -
New Year Gifts and Rewards: Your One-Stop Guide
Toivia replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Wow, so much salt yet a T7 premium along with 4 tech tree T6 ships are apparently extremely easy to obtain (3 directives and a chain of missions requiring just that T7 premium and then T5 ships). You don't want to grind? Fine, noone forces you to. You'll still get plenty rewards from the dockyard anyway because it progresses regardless (albeit slowly). You do want to grind? Good news, you only have to do like 60% of the dailies to get tokens for all the buffs in the dockyard. Much better than with benham where you could only miss like 3 days or not get it at all. (This is obviously still provisional depending on how many of the boosts you need to activate early in order to get Puerto Rico.) The one part I hate is the Collection being once more gated behind only special containers. And getting 20 unique items from a maximum of 40 or so containers (when you need 4 duplicates to buy one) is not sounding great at all. Also I don't understand the hate for T5 premiums. They get the dailies done (along with a fair chunk of usual random missions), they can level commanders, they are inexpensive and often easy to run. The only bad thing about T5 ships is the MM, including T4 CVs.
