Treffergenauigkeit der Tirpitz eine Zumutung
Kurbain replied to Lurchi86's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
I should hurry up and get my Zao and Yamato already before WG decides to nerf them into oblivion. On the bright side it would make the British/German/Americans more competitive and I don't mind playing those either.

Maybe it makes you feel better that it could always be even worse. I guess results like that one should be happy about, but all I can think of is the missed experience if it had been a win since the grind takes too damn long in WOWS. At first I get pretty annoyed at my team, but ultimately I don't really blame them. Everyone has their bad rounds and in the end I should have just carried even harder. Usually when I die it's because I played too aggressive and tried to fight off 3-4 enemies at once and that is certainly not the team's fault. By the way, a friend of mine recently had a 260K damage game in his Des Moines during the 3x XP weekend and lost. He missed out on over 10000 XP just in that one match.

Treffergenauigkeit der Tirpitz eine Zumutung
Kurbain replied to Lurchi86's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
NC: Amagi: Tirpitz: -
Either play a destroyer and cap a lot of bases, or play a cruiser and hunt destroyers. Experience/Credits are awarded based on the percentage of damage you have done to an enemy. Taking 50% health off a destroyer awards just as much XP as taking 50% off a battleship. Also, the higher the tier of the ship you damage, the larger the amount of XP you earn. Earning 1500/1800 XP can be difficult at T4/T5. Earning that much at T8 is pretty common if you are a good player.

I only got 22 battles fought, but I would consider myself a solid Tirpitz player nevertheless. The two most important tips I can give you to succeed in a high-tier battleship are: 1. Constantly keep an eye on where the spotted enemy destroyers are and where those could be that are not spotted. Regularly adjust your course and speed accordingly. 2. Know when you should be playing defensively. Depending on the amount of enemy ships ahead of you, it can be better to play a more defensive role and conserve your HP so you still got some later in the battle. Even though players like to complain about BB snipers, sometimes it is the correct decision to stay at 18 KM from the enemies and wait for the right moment, even in a Tirpitz. Charging into 5 enemies and getting yourself killed quickly won't really help your team. Since BBs require a long time to turn, you already have to decide whether you will play aggressive or not when the enemy ships are about 15-18 KM away. Don't pick a fight you can't win unless you have to do it to guarantee a win (stop enemy from capping). Since some general advice only goes so far, here are 4 Tirpitz replays: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xfmxq9rk0xn0moj/20160207_185616_PGSB002-Tirpiz-1942_35_NE_north_winter.wowsreplay?dl=0 (Win, T10, 2 enemy Yamatos, 150K damage) https://www.dropbox.com/s/2uc3a8j9ggz5qcm/20160208_220225_PGSB002-Tirpiz-1942_19_OC_prey.wowsreplay?dl=0 (Win, T8, 5 enemy DDs, 100K damage) https://www.dropbox.com/s/x5jgwta1zt932l9/20160131_222947_PGSB002-Tirpiz-1942_35_NE_north_winter.wowsreplay?dl=0 (Loss, T8, 150K damage) https://www.dropbox.com/s/jyh1vekxmta5oxu/20160131_210050_PGSB002-Tirpiz-1942_18_NE_ice_islands.wowsreplay?dl=0 (Win, T9, 110K damage, none taken)

I admit it. I am a torpedophile. Confess ur best derps!
Kurbain replied to SkullFox's topic in General Discussion
The last time you tried out destroyers was during beta. Now that you have a lot more experience, you should give them another try. Practice makes perfect. First time I tried out destroyers I was absolutely awful in them because I didn't even know about the white torpedo aiming assistance zone. Look at my glorious Sampson stats. Even you can't be that bad: If somebody like me can play DDs well, so can you. -
To quote Obama: Yes, we can.
-
Quite the opposite. Win percentage is the most important value as it the one most accurately representing your contribution to the victory each match. Obviously it can deviate strongly if only a small amount of matches is played regardless of your contribution, but over the long run it should give an accurate representation. Average kills and K/D matter little because they greatly depend on your playstyle and ship. BBs tend to have lower K/Ds than CAs/DDs due to their lower fire rate. Some players prefer shooting at whatever is the most vulnerable, others prefer to focus on a single opponent and take them out of battle as soon as possible. Even average damage is a questionable statistic. Doing 30K damage early on and dying while preventing the enemy from capping a base is gonna be more useful than doing 100K damage at the end of the game when the enemy team has essentially won already. On top of that doing 30K damage to DDs is more useful than doing 50K to BBs. 50K doesn't even kill a single BB, but 30K can kill 2 DDs. To get back on topic, my biggest flaw is my inability to accurately assess the battle situation. I have difficulty deciding when defensive and aggressive playstyles are necessary and where I am needed most, especially since it can take several minutes to reach a vital position and you never know how the battle may develop during that time. Especially when playing BBs I will often either end up too far behind and don't have enough impact on the battle for a while or play too aggressive and die too quickly.

I just checked and got 9,07 million.

[POLL]Name of the T10 German BB "Grossdeutschland"
Kurbain replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
Here are some German esszetts for you guys since it's written Großdeutschland: ßßßßß Stock is limited, so get them while they last. I would prefer a different name, but if they wanna call it Großdeutschland, I'm okay with it. I just want the name to sound cool and "Großdeutschland" sounds rather lame. Since it is going to have 420mm guns, they could make the barrels look like joints and call it the Blaze-It-Mobile? The smoke coming out of the barrels after every fired shot would make it look as if the H41 was having a good time. -
Depends on the skill. In the case of the -7% fire chance captain skill, it is multiplicative. Check the posts above for the complete formula. Here is also a chart displaying varying fire chances depending on the ship and skills: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MSNQxCSfz2mzd92Av0QNkxRlCnXavIL6ItvCYqHkg7Y/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=418658764 The accuracy in this case is the dispersion, which is displayed in meters in the detailed info section of the artillery stats. As an example, if the accuracy-improving Gunfire Control Modification 1 is installed on the Tirpitz, it will change the dispersion from 276 meters to 257. There's also a parameter determining shell deviation within the dispersion area (how likely the shells are to be close to the midpoint of the dispersion field), but that value is fixed and no skills or modules within the game adjust it.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Kurbain replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
The even bigger achievement is landing in a completely balanced match. What sorcery is this?Clearly this is no result of the famous MM which any experienced WOWS player has learned to love. -
Your number of forum posts.

At T2 that is too many. Usually players will move on to the next tier as soon as they got the experience points and credits to do so. That way you can keep making progress while learning more about the game since you get to try out new ships and play against stronger players. if you are encountering issues while facing stronger players at the higher tiers, you could always go back to your lower tier ships later for some practice; or even better try out some other ship lines. It will provide new experiences and allow you to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each nation/ship class. The better you understand your opponents, the easier it is for you to defeat them. Was that tank the one that caused all the rigging incidents?

What ships do you guys have a Love-Hate Relationship with?
Kurbain replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
Well, IJN cruisers can offer very different results. Either any BB salvo coming your way magically finds its way into your citadel and you don't do much damage, or the enemy focuses other ships/you get lucky and the firepower of the IJN cruisers can be shown off, giving you excellent results. Maybe because it has to go up against the Midway, which is even more OP? -
You can check out its specifications here: http://shipcomrade.com/ships/kamikaze_r Or install the Extended Tech Tree Mod and look at its statistics in-game.
-
The Kamikaze R should be a good moneymaker as it is a premium variant of the Minekaze, which is an excellent DD. However, for now we do not know how high its credit bonus will be or if it is going to have one at all. If it is in-line with other T5 premiums such as the Murmansk, you will be able to earn a lot of money with it as long as you perform adequately.

What ships do you guys have a Love-Hate Relationship with?
Kurbain replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
Oh, my sweet summer child, still unfamiliar with the high tiers, the horrors of which are yet unbeknownst to you. Cruisers wiped out in an instance without so much as an afterthought after their citadel has been smashed into dust by 400+ mm caliber shells. Torpedo carpets the size of an asteroid belt slowly creeping their way to your precious BB which turns as fast as Bagger 288. DDs swirling around you like vultures, just outside your detection range, waiting to gnaw at your precious HP, eager to let your repair bill skyrocket into monetary heights not even Bill Gates could dream of. Midways and Hakuryus waiting to send the entire American/Japanese air force your way to give you a personal "Fu.ck you" from 25 KM away. Mid-tiers are well-balanced and not a single class dominates at those tiers. BBs can definitely have issues dealing with cruisers at those tiers due to their range, HE spam and excellent rudder shift time. Starting at T6 (Fuso, New Mexico) the game gets a lot more dangerous for cruisers if the BB captains know what they are doing. Once you reach T8/T9 cruisers are mostly food for the BBs and you will be glad you don't receive a citadel hit whenever a BB shoots at you. The BBs in turn are food for the DDs, which are often not spotted because CVs are missing and the cruisers can't afford to hunt them. I have absolutely no issue with Minekazes or anything of the like, but when you start encountering things like this, where each of the displayed torpedoes has 24K max damage, it gets less fun: -

Why wouldn't you be able to see the ship even if your tech tree is not unlocked yet? Should it just be invisible to you because your account level is not high enough? Although I guess after patch 0.5.3 is introduced it may be "invisible" to you as players with an account level below 11 will receive separate matchmaking and they most likely wouldn't meet one on the battlefield. Anyway, even if you have the tech tree unlocked it will not show up to you in the tech tree as it is one of the rare premiums as Vaderan mentioned. Those are ships that are not available for purchase in-game, but have to bought at the premium shop for real money or won in a contest. Those are: Tachibana, Marblehead, Warspite, Tirpitz, Mikhail Kutuzov, Iwaki Alpha, Arkansas Beta, Imperator Nikolai I, Anshan, Lo Yang, Kamikaze R, Fujin, Gremyashchy, Smith, Mikasa, Kitori, Kitakami, Albany, Sims, Diana, Emden and Blyskawica. If you would like to see it displayed in-game despite that, you can use the Extended Tech Tree Mod from Aslain's Modpack (http://aslain.com/index.php?/topic/2020-050-aslains-wows-modpack-installer-wpicture-preview-v070-25092015/) to see all ships which the game contains data for.

Yeah, having the speed of ships displayed is definitely not legal. Congratulations on exposing your use of aim-assist, mkpetrov. That aside, Matchmaking will be reworked in 0.5.3 based on the nationality the ships belong to. Hopefully it will alleviate the issues.
