Due to forum user Nechrom I recently found out about the warships.today evaluations available on their site and I thought I would ask everyone to share theirs as the results can be quite interesting and amusing. Here's how to check your evaluation: 1. Enter warships.today into your address bar. Nothing else. 2. Ensure that the EU region is selected as shown here: 3. Type your name into the search bar in the upper right of the website: 4. Voilà! I mostly play cruisers and only played the Furutaka the minimum amount of battles required to unlock the Aoba, though...

Update 0.5.4.1 in Sicht am 31.03.2016
Kurbain replied to XsiFluxx's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen

[0.5.4.1] DDs I Feel For Ya *Insert A Maniacal Laugh*
Kurbain replied to t3h3th32's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I've thought about it that way as well. In my opinion each ship class should be spotting torpedoes at different ranges. Cruisers should obviously have the highest natural torpedo spotting range, followed by RU DDs, then US DDs, IJN DDs and last but not least BBs/CVs. BBs should have a low detection range since DDs are supposed to counter them and CVs can use their planes for the spotting. -
I agree with your sentiment. The reaction of the community towards the test-drives seems very disappointing and the decision of the developers isn't surprising. However, in the defense of the community it should be mentioned that the Königsberg and Ognevoi were bad choices for a preview. Pre-buff Königsberg and Ognevoi are two of the most frustrating to play ships in the game. Back then the Königsberg was losing rudder/steering/turrets constantly and regarding the Ognevoi I doubt I have to mention what it means to lose a single turret on that ship. On top of that they are both difficult to play and quite different from the ships that came before. The Königsberg is forced to sail at long range unlike the Furutaka/Omaha. The Ognevoi was the first gunboat DD to be introduced (Not counting Gremy, which very few people possess) and relies on its guns unlike the US and IJN DDs. People weren't used to it at all. A friend of mine tried it out during the test-drive phase and considered it absolute trash because he kept trying to use its torpedoes. Even I considered them really bad at a first glance because it just didn't come to mind that a DD might primarily use its guns. It doesn't excuse the reaction of the community, but in my opinion it would be worthwhile to offer another test-drive with a more sensible choice of ship. I doubt offering the Kirov (which plays like the Germans, but with 180mm) or Budyonny (which is simply a beast) for a test-drive would have generated nearly as much negative feedback.

Saipan requirements announced: 20+ CV wins, at least one T5 carrier
Kurbain replied to Ragweek's topic in Aircraft Carriers
I appreciate the existence of the requirements, but I expected them to be higher as well considering the Saipan got up-tiered to T7. Nevertheless kudos to WG for this step. -
It's artillery is nowhere near as good as that of a Gearing or Khabarovsk and its torpedoes can't compete with those of a Fletcher or Shimakaze. It's a very good all-rounder, but I wouldn't consider it overpowered. I know its bad manners to bring personal statistics into this discussion, but its difficult to value your input regarding which ships are OP considering your statistical performance. In your defense I will mention that these values are over a month old, though, since you are hiding your stats. Nothing inherently wrong with that, by the way, I did it as well for a time.
-
-
Considering your excellent statistical performance, I'm inclined to believe that you know how to play this ship even if you used Free XP to skip the grind, so it's good to hear about your experiences with it. Looking at the ship's statistics, it definitely appears to be a jack of all trades, which could be considered a weakness, but overall your bad performance can probably be accounted to be being focused unusually often. Considering how rare the Moskva is at the moment you are very likely to receive special attention and any ship dies quickly to focus fire, the Russians in particular. Even though I haven't played the ship myself I would like to disagree with at least one of your points, though, which is the brawling. Due to its 170mm it seems to be pretty good at brawling even with BBs. I fought against a Moskva in the training room with my Yamato and it was able to bounce a ridiculous amount of shots even at close range if it was angled. Here is an example: https://gfycat.com/MadeupPhysicalIndianelephant It managed to bounce 8 out of 8 Yamato AP shells at 1,4 KM and it was barely angled in relation to my 2 frontal guns. However, as soon as it is properly showing its broadside, it receives an incredible amount of citadel hits.
-
Well, it is pretty late, so I only did some quick, rough testing. I took these results with a consistent 76 FPS and a ping of 35, although it sometimes fluctuated between 32 to 36. I used AP ammo only. Fuso and Kutuzov was played on Ocean, Yamato on Islands of Ice. Fuso UI Flight Time Stopwatch Flight Time 10 KM 5,48s N/A 15 KM 8,92s 9,1s 26,05 KM 18,5s 20,2s Kutuzov UI Flight Time Stopwatch Flight Time 10 KM 5,37s N/A 15 KM 9,47s 10,13s 19,1 KM 14s 14,5s Yamato UI Flight Time Stopwatch Flight Time 10 KM 5,18s N/A 15 KM 8,23s 8,44s 26,47 KM 16,54s 17,66s 31,99 KM 21,31s 23,88s Stopwatch values should be taken with a grain of salt since I took them manually. Would have to make a video and count frames for a proper measurement. If you want to bother with that, I can test some more later and send you the replays.

Same.During my grind in the Kirov, I managed to: 1. Die after being hit by only 3 shells in total. 2. Run into more torpedoes per match than in my Izumo or Yamato due to the bad turning circle radius. On a BB you at least expect it to be bad and act accordingly. 3. Get detonated by a Hatsuharu using its main guns right at the start of a match. 4. Receive citadel hits from 203mm cruisers and other Kirovs despite angling. 5. Get citadeled by a Myogi shooting HE. Definitely not going to play it again now that the grind is over. According to the statistics, the survival rate of the Kirov is better than most other T5 cruisers, though. Only the Murmansk has a better one. 28.68% vs 27.48%

Verbesserung macht das Schiff schlechter
Kurbain replied to anonym_CrqJogIBDT5b's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Verbesserung macht das Schiff schlechter
Kurbain replied to anonym_CrqJogIBDT5b's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Wargaming are trying to tell me something.

Just install the training room mod and you can play World of Touhou Torpedo Dodging all day! Why be satisfied with 7 Shimakazes if you can meet up to 23? -
Definitely Steering Gear Mod 2, for the following reasons: 1. The Tirpitz only has 22% of torpedo damage reduction. 2. You can only repair 10% to 33% of received torpedo damage depending on where they hit, but you can repair 100% of fire damage. 3. Steering Gear Mod 2 also helps you dodge incoming fire, reducing the amount of fires received. 4. Premium Repair brings the CD down low enough that you can sometimes afford to put out even just 1 fire. gautrek, on 27 March 2016 - 08:02 PM, said: Any division of 3 ships using voice coms is OP. You have dealt 79K average damage so far in a stock Amagi, which is an excellent performance. I'm sure you have simply been unfortunate and been on 7 bad teams in a row. Your winrate is definitely going to greatly improve if you keep up your current performance. However, keep in mind that carrying teams isn't simply about dealing large amounts of damage. It's about making the correct tactical decisions and dealing damage at the right times to the correct targets. 50K damage dealt at just the right moments to the right ships can be a lot more useful to the team than 100K damage randomly dealt to enemy ships. If you often like to sit at the back and let your teammates receive all the damage while you chip away at the enemies and die in a 5vs1 battle at the end of the match with 150K damage dealt, you can end up with a sub-par winrate despite high average damage. For example, here are a few ways that a player can increase their chances to win without dealing much (or any) damage: 1. Spotting torpedoes and enemy ships for your teammates. 2. Going on a suicide mission into your base that is being capped by enemies to stop them from taking it. 3. Creating a distraction and ensuring the enemies focus their firepower on you to stop your teammates from taking damage; Hopefully not dying in the process yourself. 4. Talking strategy with your teammates or at least pointing out important information like an incoming carrier snipe or torpedo carpet. 5. Protecting your BBs/CVs from enemy planes. 6. Making the right decision between going back and defending your base or sailing into the enemy base and trying to capture it instead. If you plan on dealing damage to the enemy team, try to focus on their DDs first assuming you have a reasonable chance to hit them. They have the least HP but one of the largest influences on the outcome of the battles, particularly in domination mode.

Error...? Secundary guns that dont fire when in range
Kurbain replied to Genie_of_the_Lamp's topic in General Discussion
Alright, let's do this step by step. Step 1a: Locate the left CTRL button on your keyboard. It is definitely the correct key as the keybinding for it cannot be changed within the game. It should be right here unless you got a weird keyboard: If you happen to own a German keyboard it is going to be exactly at the same spot, but will be called STRG instead. Step 1b: If for some really strange reason your CTRL/STRG key doesn't cause the cursor to appear despite it not being rebindable within the game, go to the command_mapping_config.xml file in the World of Warships/res folder of your installation path. Ensure that the CMD_FREE_CURSOR function is tied to KEY_LCONTROL, as shown here: Step 2: Hop into a BB which has a captain with the T5 Manual Secondary Control. Step 3: Wait until an enemy is close enough to be in range of your secondaries. Step 4: Press the CTRL (or STRG) key on your keyboard which you hopefully managed to successfully locate earlier during a tactical reconnaissance sweep of your keyboard area. After pressing it, make sure you keep it pressed! Press it as hard as you would press on the bullet wound of one of your family members that happened to get hit by a stray bullet from a gang shootout in Chicago during your holiday trip which you do not want to bleed out. Step 5: A cursor should pop up. Use that cursor and put it on top of the enemy ship. A sign saying "AUTO" should now be displayed below the cursor. Use the left mousebutton now. Step 6: A big A in a circle with arrows pointing inwards will now show up above their name if you have done everything correctly, just like in this screenshot: Step 7: Put on some good music like your hot, new mixtape since your secondaries will now proceed to turn the enemy ship into burned Swiss cheese. Bon Appétit. -
I think the title of this thread is very clear about what your reaction should be regarding this Tirpitz sale. There's no need to argue about whether the Tirpitz is worth it or not. The only question you should be asking yourself is how fast you can accumulate those 45€ and press the buy button in the premium shop. (Except if you consider 45€ an outrageous price for a pixel ship, which is totally understandable, but let's pretend that you are a big WOWS fan with an even bigger wallet or at least no impulse control) It's the strongest T8 BB in my opinion due to the combination of great armor, speed, HP, fast firing rate and torpedoes. (+ Concealment if you like it sneaky. Concealment can be brought down as low as 12,3 KM) It's only weaknesses are the lackluster AA, accuracy and penetration. The lack of accuracy and penetration can be negated by closing the distance to the enemy; a job that the Tirpitz is very good at. Additionally the AA receives a nice boost from the Manual AA skill due to its strong long-range AA guns. (133 DPS extra) AA is still a bit crappy even then, but even the Tirpitz can't be good at everything. Some may say its armor layout is actually a weakness due to the increased chance of regular penetrations, but I disagree. I rather receive 3 regular penetrations than one citadel hit considering BBs can only repair 10% of a citadel hit but 33% of a regular penetration (or was it even 50%? Don't remember) and obviously you aren't going to be receiving that many extra penetrations. Most regular penetrations on a Tirpitz would have been one on an Amagi or NC as well (or even a citadel hit).

I'm not sure a fleet best known for the sound it makes after it got blown up should be teaching new players how to play. On another note, anybody that is complaining about BBs that lack maneuverability isn't playing the right BBs. The only battleships worth batlleshipping with are those going at least 30 knots! Tirpitz! Amagi! Iowa! Kongo! Obviously the Yamato is an exception. Can't argue with 460 millimeters of awesomeness and it reaches a decent 28,4 knots with the speed flag. Also the Fuso.

Pay to Lose, Money is killing the game, ask the premium ships
Kurbain replied to Jalador's topic in General Discussion
I guess they were Tirpitz players? Maybe they were joking, though. Sometimes I like to ask how to use torpedoes at the beginning of a match in my Tirpitz as a joke due to the reactions in chat. As a bonus you are more likely to be underestimated by the enemy. While it is undoubtedly frustrating to have very inexperienced players in your team, their existence isn't as problematic as one may think. Statistically there should be more noobs on the enemy team than your own since there are only 9 to 11 randoms in your team but 12 on the enemy side. For every noob in your team, you should encounter at least one as an enemy which will serve as a nice XP piñata. mtm78, on 27 March 2016 - 12:42 AM, said: if I play WoT and I take out the Lowe Here's an ö for you, you naughty non-German. Roon replays - AP is love, AP is life. From the global #1 in average damage
Kurbain replied to Sander93's topic in Cruisers
Excellent, thanks for uploading some replays. I was planning to get the Des Moines as my second T10 cruiser after the Zao, but maybe it should be the Hindenburg instead considering what you are able to do with the Roon. The reliance on AP and the bad concealment + rudder shift always worry me when looking at their statistics, but I will have a look at your replays and see how you manage to deal with those weaknesses. Maybe they aren't as problematic as I thought. -
Kurbain replied to Takru's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
