You can always improve your carry skills. Yesterday I did my first ranked battle in a Scharnhorst, helped or DDs cap one area (yeah, both DDs went for the same area), solo capped the second area pushing an enemy Akatsuki out of there while the rest of my team somehow suicided still in the other area. Ended against 4 enemy ships alone. Got Solo Warrior. Thank god that ranked works "as intended" and the average player doesn't even know what is doing.

Hm, so DDs get some holidays. Good for them I guess.

Are american ships better than others?
Shirakami_Kon replied to Legend1466's topic in General Discussion
I prefer to shoot Iowa than Yamato unless Yamato is broadside and Iowa angled. And it still depends on how much Iowa is angling. Iowa is still easier damage/chance to sink a ship from the enemy team. -
Elimination Thread 4: Tier VIII

Akizuki: 21 Kagero: 20 Benson: 21 Benson/Lo Yang (Def. AA): 14 Lo Yang (Mk. 15 mod. 0): 20 Lo Yang (Mk 31): 20 Z-23: 20 Mogami (155mm): 18 - 3 = 15 Mogami (203mm): 14 Atago: 26 New Orleans: 11 Chapayev: 20 Mikhail Kutuzov: 22 Admiral Hipper / Prinz Eugen: 17 Edinburgh: 21 Amagi: 20 North Carolina: 20 Tirpitz: 20 + 1 = 21 Bismark: 20 Shokaku (2/2/2): 20 Shokaku (3/1/2): 20 Lexington (1/1/1): 17 Lexington (2/0/2): 11 Lexington (0/1/3): 17 I don't have that many T8 ships, so I can only talk about fewof them myself, but at T8 the votes for the ships I player are quite straightforward. Mogami's 155mm are trash right now. Used to be good (and I'm not talking with captain skills that worked on her back then) just because she had turret traverse. Still good DD hunter? Ha. You can't even keep up with them with a turret traverse worse than every BB she faces, except Yamato (duh). The same ones you have to ask permission to exist to actually try to "hunt DDs" with those guns, but that's a Mogami issue, not the just of the guns, so that can be aplied to both versions, but whatever. I wonder why WG keeps those guns, the only thing they are good for is for punishing more the fun you'll get in that ship as if being a T8 cruiser isn't bad enough already. Until you get your 4th IJN cruiser with the same 203 guns again. Because who the f*** would want to have a ship to play two roles by changing the guns? WG doesn't want that. About Tirpitz... I like BBs. Actually pushing with them. So Tirpitz is German = good armor. It's premium = gets buffed because of poor players from time to time (always good). And even if torps can't really blow up BBs from full HP all by themselves everyone knows you have them, it's a nice threat factor that helps when pushing. AA can surprise some CVs if you focus on making a captain build around them since they tend to go first for you because of the kind of players this ship usually have and tend to expect a "meh" AA (provided I run a 19 point captain on mine with BFT, AFT and Manual AA), not really much else, I just love Tirpitz for that.- 318 replies

What is the "new" 15 point Captain?
Shirakami_Kon replied to RUSSIANBlAS's topic in General Discussion
10 points looks good for stealth torp based DDs, they can get the basic with that, arguably 12 points because of LS and TAE or LS and EM for some Russian DDs. Pretty much everything else is 14 at least just to get the most wanted skills. Every other DD wants 14 for CE + AFT at least. Heavy cruisers need concealment and want AFT for the AA range, light cruisers it's worse since they have to get CE and then they have to first choose between AA range or IFHE now, which in the end make them need 18 points now for their best builds. BBs need also 14/18 points. With 14 they can either get CE+AFT, AFT+Manual secondaries or AFT+Manual AA for CV haters. There's also really good buils picking 3 skills of 4 points so they get good use of 18 points too or by picking more 2/3 point skills, but BBs start to be ok with the commander at 14 points. They can get the "minimum requirements" with 14 points. -
Oh, I see then. Weird anyways, I prefered when they told you that you don't have enough doubloons and how much do you need insted of that new grey button. It's more confusing now. But well, thanks for the answer.

Looks like in this game you have to change tier to change map instead of having a real variety of maps playing the same tier when you are playing a specific ship to unlock the nest one. Boring as hell, but yeah, try to play a different tier from time to time if you want to see something else that the same 1-2 maps over and over again as if there's nothing more than that.
-
But after the patch when with 0 doubloons you could click redistribute and the the game will pop up a notification with how doubloons you need. You could do that the next day after the redistribute costs returned to normal, but yesterday I noticed that the button turned grey and it doesn't work anymore.
-
Some examples.
-
Yes, I know, I have 350-400ish doubloons which should be enough to redistribute captains with a few points, but even with that I can't. And after the patch you still could click the redistribute button and get a notiication that you need doubloons and how many of them for the captain, but not the button it's grey and it just doesn't work.
-
Mmm... But I have gold, maybe not for commanders with a lot of points but I I have gold for captains with 5-7 points and I still have this problem. Haven't checked one by one all of my commanders but the redistribute button is grey and it doesn't work.
-
I Oh, so I'm not the only one having this problem. I noticed the same. I was planning on retraining a captain but the redistribute button it's greyed out and it doesn't work. Then I checked some other ships and they all were greyed too. I haven't checked all my captains so I don't know if it literally all of them, but it's weird.

Octagonal Maps (or something similar)
Shirakami_Kon replied to anonym_rivkqQoLcTYW's topic in General Discussion
Round (octogonal, circular, whatever) maps would be quite nice IMO, I like the idea. The only ships I see having problems (valid problems) with removing the corners of the map are CVs which maybe would have more problems to hide in open water, but they could always use islands as cover in the worst cases. -
How to solve the camping problem once and for all
Shirakami_Kon replied to periscope_up's topic in General Discussion
Emm... You pay a fixed repair cost every battle regardless of if you take damage or not. So you would just have free repair cost if you win. The thing with that it's that winning doesn't depend on only you playing like you should, so if you play well, but the rest of the team doesn't you get dragged by them too, so it's not a good idea. -

We just need forts at the border of the map. -
Has the "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells" skill made Heavy Cruisers Redundant?
Shirakami_Kon replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry about light CLs making CAs irrelevant, the solution is applied to Mogami already. When everybody stops to use CA because there's no point in it they'll put 50+ seconds of turret traverse on CLs and problem solved because it's obviously logic and CAs will be better to use again.- 113 replies

New record, four disconnects today.
-
Hm... That's similar with what happened with the choice between the 155s or 203 of Mogami months ago... It looks like WG didn't like the popular choice at all. Let's hope they don't wreck the possibility of choosing between two calibers on a second ship and make a painful grind for worse guns at T10.

Tirpitz secondary artillery up to par?
Shirakami_Kon replied to superdashi's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, and that's why I said "when a BB is torping you". BBs can't hide to torp you like DDs which makes very obvious if one turns to torps you from a distance instead of just in front of you which makes predicting BB torps very easy. And yes, you can use island to suddenly appear at 3 km of someone and torp them at that distance but that falls under the fault of the player who doesn't look at the minimap and let a Tirpitz get so close to you which is really something worth paying attention to. -
Tirpitz secondary artillery up to par?
Shirakami_Kon replied to superdashi's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much this Sure, you can always find the potato that doesn't know how... First: have an intuition when a BB is torping you (because you know, BBs can stealth torp you so you can't even know when one launches torps at you or anything). Second: React to that or at least know how press A or D to dodge torps. What about if Tirpitz torps are 62 knots? That's not slow, ok, but it's not the end of the world either, I find them really easy to dodge unless as I said earlier you launch them "in someones face", but if someone gets hit by Tirpitz torps at 6 km I hope it's because that player was focused and paying attention at someone else or it was just another potato more, nothing to actually brag about. As for me, I guess I expect to much of players, but since it would find embarrasing getting caught by Tirpitz torps at a distance of 6 km I don't expect that much of them at more than at best 4 km. So yeah, even if probably I could catch some potatos easily if I tryied I don't tend to expect much from Tirpitz torps at 6 km and that's why I don't bother with them unless I'm sure that there's actually no way for them to dodge them. -
A few days ago I was playing my Yamato bow tanking a Izumo that was broadside and I was about to reload and shoot at her. But then the Izumo shot me and I detonated.
