A BB can stay in a DD smoke without pushing the DD that put the smoke out of it. You don't even need to go in it, if you can just stay close behind it with the smoke between you and the enemies without someone flanking the smoke to spot you behind it to stay concealed already. Unless the BB decides to be an [edited]***e, which seems the case with what you describe.

BBs are balanced, High tier gameplay is fun
Shirakami_Kon replied to cro_pwr's topic in General Discussion
.......... I'm not English, so maybe it's not that strange that I don't find the words to express how I feel after watching that replay... But I don't think I could even in my own language... Some of the random words that come to my mind are things like "sad" or even "disgusting" even if it's the enemy teams ineptitude... There's not so many possitive things to say about this... Nice aim and good for you you had such a good game. Now excuse me while I go depress about this scenario in high tiers you showed us somewhere else... -
People hate Mikasa because the lack of accuracy to hit the Titanic, AND how superstructure blocks the way of the turrets so you have to show complete broadside every time you want to use the four guns, AND being outranged by cruisers, AND the range of secondaries even if you have a lot of them. And yeah, people will say that you should use islands as cover to get close to something and ambush a ship to get in range to use your secondaries. But then you have the speed problem for that. Would be nice that dispersion was Mikasa's only problem.

Should each class have seperate skill trees?
Shirakami_Kon replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
Instead of each class I'd separate skill trees between CVs/the rest. Some skills are bad on certain classes, but even with that they work on any DD, CL/CA or BB class to some extent. And then there's CVs, that have a few skills that actually work for them. If WG would make a specific skill tree for CVs they would have more room to do more skills for CVs while making room for more skills for the rest of the ships by taking out the "CV only" skills. At the risk of that, but still. -
Yeah, I didn't put that in my post since I thought about it later, but I'd agree with that. Maybe not x10 increase in cost, but I'll definitely would pay more for premium time if at least I'd know I'd be able to use it.
-
I agree with the first idea too. Some way of just using your premium time when you play would be nice, there's no way you can be 24 hours or even a reasonable amount of time per day playing for most of us to be worth spending money in premium time, it's just trowing money out of the window, which is just a plain bad idea. We have a live and all of that. About idea number two... He's right Third idea: I'm not even playing ranked this season myself to bother with that, I'll leave that to others. Forth idea: I understand your point, but I find that even with that it's fine as it is. We already have people skipping entire lines already just to jump to tier 10. A long time ago I skipped from Fuso to Yamato and get rekt. Which served me right. So if people want to do that I'm all in favor of ruining them or chunking their daddy's wallet. XP needed it's fine as it is. Edit: Also, you should add more options to the poll, to vote individual ideas, not just and overall yes or no to everything. Something like "Idea 1: (insert brief explanation here of the idea)" and so on.

Whats the most important game statistic to you
Shirakami_Kon replied to ziggydog's topic in General Discussion
Sorry to break your bubble, Ishiro32. You really are an excellent CV player, but that doesn't mean that all CVs are like you. Of course there's a majority of bad players in any class, but even with how much you can notice the amount of bad players in BBs because of the sheer amount of them I'd be glad to find a good CV player once every half month at least. There's a lot more BBs to notice but considering the average CV you find in battles and how it performs it's seems that's even harder to get a good CV player than even a good BB one. -
Yeah... Pretty tired of all this Russian [edited] too. But well, look at it that way, let them spam them, the sooner they complete the whole tree the faster we'll get more interesting stuff.

The Manly Mans Manly BB Game Play Thread
Shirakami_Kon replied to Spuggy's topic in General Discussion
A good match I had today, even if it's not that spectacular compared to other results here, but even with it's drawbacks I'm really enjoying my new Mutsu. I'm starting to get used to her and I'm starting to feel very comfortable while playing her. Excelent ship if you know how to handle the few weaknesses it has. Even with how fun to play and good Scharhorst is I'm starting to like Mutsu even more than Scharnhorst. I think I have a new love.- 315 replies

Elimination Thread 4: Tier VIII

Tirpitz: Warships today keeps saying this is my key vehicle even when they say I mostly play low tier BBs (starting to wonder what's low tiers for them). So praise the low tier BB.- 318 replies

Whats the most important game statistic to you
Shirakami_Kon replied to ziggydog's topic in General Discussion
Same here, that's what turned me into a mainly premium ship player because of the lower repair costs. As for the kind of stats asked here, I don't really know... I had matches where I was bottom tier, highest XP of both teams, with the whole enemy team between me and the second of my own team in XP and still lost because of that, so I won't say Win Rate, sure, some of you will say that it shows how much you can help your team, I call BS... WR depends on what you get on your team, it doesn't look a reliable stat at all for me, even if I'm at 57/58% which it's not awesome but not that bad. Everyone has also good and bad days and WR can change just because of that. Average damage it's too class dependant too, so for me its average XP, for me the XP you get every battle pretty much sums up for how you contributed each battle, regardless of the class you're playing (well, except CVs maybe). Some will say that you can get high average XP by just playing DD and cap so it means nothing. But that actually what they are supposed to do and also they have to fight other DDs to get that cap, usually you don't cap for free so yeah, it means something and capping is very important to manage a victory so yeah, I'll still go for average XP. -
He's talking about a "realistic team", in which case yes, if this game were to be realistic teams should be something like that since IRL the amount of DDs was quite big compared to other classes. However I agree that since this game is arcade, and taking into account the mechanics it has, teams like that would be catastrophic.

Every now and then this game has questionable "improvements" and such and everytime the forums flood with threads of whines and complaints. I'll admit that from time to time I rise the pitchfork myself, but this time it's different. I for once I felt the need to bring the rare thread of someone who's happy about something in this game. And all of this is because of the new IJN BB, Mutsu. For a bit of context, I learn what I can about this game and it's mechanics, I can see what makes a ship OP or not and I appreciate the strengths of good ships in their respective roles an I have to admit that some premium ships are questionably strong even if you expect to get something for a ship you paid for but well, that's not really the point now, just that I bough quite a few premium ships just because of that, even if I'm not that competitive (I don't even touch ranked that much). But that's what I really like about Mutsu. Mutsu has it's strengths, mostly 8 big ones, of 410 mm at T6, which it's really awesome to start with. However I love that for once, even with that it's not a "P2W" ship. Mutsu has it's own gimmicky toys, like the few torps but they aren't that game changing because the fact that you can only can launch two at the time, one by one and how punished the use of them can be. The torps of Mutsu are what they are supposed to be, a secondary and extremely situational weapon, and I really like how WG managed to accomplish that without leaving much option for you to abuse them. Mutsu has it's drawbacks too. It's like a stock Nagato, the armor is thinner, it's not like those really tough German BBs. And the AA is... well, close to none existant. But I like that, it adds a little challenge and the armor is good enough if you angled, which I really enjoy. A ship that rewards if you know how to properly play a BB but punishes you otherwise for your mistakes. Another thing I'd like to point out that I like about Mutsu it's the so debated situation about T6 being uptiered a lot. A thing that almost every regular T6 ship suffers and for the sake of comparison Warspite suffers too as a premium ship. And here's where the "oh so broken 410 mm guns at T6" save Mutsu as a premium ship and makes her a ship to think about buying. The 410 mm guns give Mutsu a chance to fight back the T7 and T8 she'll have to face, shells aren't better than the BBs of higher tier, I'm pretty sure Mutsu uses stock Nagato shells, they lack a good penetration like higher tier BBs, but they can overmatch the armor at least. You can hurt higher tier BBs more consistently at least. Now, why all this wall of text? What I want to say with all this it's that I love that by paying, you get a strong ship, true. But that for once isn't something broken (*cough* Belfast *cough*) or with a great advantadge at it's tier, like Scharnhorst, Tirpitz and such. I find Mutsu to be a strong ship, which it's appreciated having to face higher tiers often and makes the ship more balanced and the merit of being a T6 ship fun to play. Which it's a lot to say lately. And that's why I felt the need for once to give WG a bit thank you, appreciate their work and hope they keep working just like that with new ships. That's something to really look forward to. Really good work this time WG, well done. Keep it up like that. TL;DR: Mutsu it's a balanced ship in it's own way, not "P2W" and a T6 ship fun to play even with all the uptiering you get ( I know). That's why I need to thank WG for once, that's all.

Not like I play DDs that much, but I saw Flamu's video about the AA of that new thing. I also saw on reddit that this year WG seems to plan to remove alt attacks for CVs in tiers 4 and 5 to prevent sealclubbing. Which leaves the good players at tier 6 and 7, where AA starts to be a problem for them, or return again at tiers 8-10 where the good CVs are, but again against insane AA ships, and now even with DDs that can brutally murder your planes. As for the question of Khaba or Grozovoi, both seem fine to me. I've only seen Khaba against me, haven't played it but it's a powerful DD if it catches you broadside, even if you're a BB. And Grozovoi from the reviews looks like a good choice for the DD players that hate being hunted down by CVs. Also a nice AA screen for other DDs that can protect them from planes scouting for them.

LF fellow shima to create lel torp waves with in random battles
Shirakami_Kon replied to zerendipity's topic in General Discussion
I love those ones. So [edited] slow that they could give "the Shimakaze of an alternate world" a heart attack and make my Yamato look like an epic ultra maneurable super battleship able to gracefully dance between all of them. Or you could just call them the joke torps. That's always an option too. -
Not great, Mutsu has the same secondary arrangement that Nagato has, but the secondary gun range is only 4 km, 5 with AFT.
-
Yes, Mutsu shells deal 200 less max damage (not big deal though). You can't see that ingame but I bet that the penetration of an upgraded Nagato is better than Mutsu too. However I still citadeled a Gneisenau once at 15/16 km so it's not worthless.
-
I haven't played Warspite much in PVP, very few battles in fact, but I'd say that Warspite keeps it's advantadge in accuracy, Mutsu has the average IJN accuracy, nothing special in that. However Mutsu has 20'4 km range so it's easier to start engaging ships. And the higher caliber of Mutsu keeps up well enough with higher tiers as said in the main post. Gunwise it's more of a preference of range vs accuracy basically. Mutsu's hull it's a stock Nagato, with a convenient 305 mm plate of armor under the first turret (useful when angling), but it's a bit faster than Nagato, so faster than Warspite too. However it's far from the torpedobeat machine that Warspite is, Mutsu turns like a regular BB. Also, not sure if it's my luck, but the first battles I lost the rudder of Mutsu twice, one time by cruiser HE. Misterious. Maybe my luck as I said though. I put Preventive maintenance for the commander and it has to happen again, so it seems that that solves it, not a big deal.

So many things could go wrong with teleporting ships. Not a good idea, you screw up the experiments.

I posted this earlier in the BB thread, but after seeing the title of this one I think that this actually fits better here so there you go. Buffing the tier 10s (cruiser edition)
Shirakami_Kon replied to dasCKD's topic in General Discussion
I'd rather ask for better turret mechanization on 155 mm Mogami, T 10s can't complain at all. As for T 10, I don't own any of them, but for what I see from replays and when I play public tests myself I'd agree with better shell arcs for Des Moines (and Cleveland while we're at it). I don't get the new relaod buff though. Why Des Moines need that? -
Is Flamu Right About The Mogami?
Shirakami_Kon replied to The_Finnster's topic in General Discussion
I can't stand the turret traverse of the 155s, but that's me. Concealment is worse but I prefer the 203s, at least those turn.
