I'm fine either way. I one of those that mostly play BBs so I don't care that much. But I'm not that fun of removing that "unfair challenge" of my already easy to play BBs. But hey, BB buffs are always good, we need them. Anyways, I can't just vote yes or no.

Detonations are detrimental to the game
Shirakami_Kon replied to malaquey's topic in General Discussion
Well, yeah... Until the stars align in your favor and you see that three enemy ships detonate... and you're "responsible" for all of those three detonations. Something is bad when you get massively reported because of something that's not your fault but you can't even feel mad because of it because you understand how ridiculous the situation is. *Remembers a Izumo detonating his Yamato while angled bow on to the Izumo* I don't know what you're talking about. I'm sure it was some kind of karma retribution for my situation with the pro? Not RNG at all, detonations are fine. -
Well, I highly doubt it works like that, but I thought of this since with how patch notes say it it sounds like "when you shoot, your detection range becomes your maximum firing range". My question with that was... Does that mean that if I shoot (with a BB or not, class is irrelevant for this) I won't be detected by ships outside or my maximum firing range even if there's a ship inside of it that as how things work now would spot me for them? Using the earlier example what I wonder is it's let's say Ocean map, with no cover and I'm the NC shooting at something (a cruiser, for example). Even if there's a DD that I don't see or know that's there will that DD spot the NC for the Yamato outside of the range of the NC, or the Yamato won't be able to see the NC even with the DD spotting? My guess is yes and the DD will spot the NC for the Yamato even if the Yamato is outside of the range of the NC. But well, would be nice to dream about BBs having to get close inside the range of other ships, specially the cruisers and be in range of them before being able to shoot at them so at least there's some battle instead of just BBs at the back luckily blowing up someone that sometimes wasn't even able to shoot back at them.
-
My thoughts exactly. I never bothered to much with ranked anyways, but I think it's the first time I've seen someone open a topic about ranked implying that it's fun.
-
Yes, I tried to say that let's say a Yamato can't spot a NC shooting until the Yamato enters the range of the NC. Of course a DD will spot the NC but with how they say it I wonder if they'll do such a change. I admit it sounds weird compared to how detection works now and "it would be horrible if ships like Yamato can't get use of their massive 26 km range", right? But I think that it may be good. For me at least would be more fun since I like to be in ranges where I actually do something and learn to angle. And when I thought of that I thought that that may be a way to make high tiers less campy if BBs can't spot other ships while shooting until they enter the range of those ships or their concealment range. Could also help with the cruisers problem of being nuked (before being in range to do something at least because a DD spotted them for a BB).
-
I wonder if this applies to BBs as well. Not that it's that important, but that would mean that you can't be detected by BBs with longer range than yours, which may be a good thing TBH. BBs with absurd range will have to get closer to detect other things to shoot at and bottom tier BBs can get closer more safely. Well, except if you're Ishizuchi, I think that thing even with the concealment buff is still spotted before she can shoot at you. But well, at least it's something for Ishizuchi, not complaining.

The Manly Mans Manly BB Game Play Thread
Shirakami_Kon replied to Spuggy's topic in General Discussion
It has one turret with two guns on each side of the ship, but the ones on the stern are blocked by the superstruture so you have to show quite of the side of the ship to have those firing. Dunkerque's secondaries are decent if you are retreating and someone is close chasing you but since you only have two guns per side if you don't show broadside (which you don't want because of the armor) they are quite meh.- 315 replies

The Manly Mans Manly BB Game Play Thread
Shirakami_Kon replied to Spuggy's topic in General Discussion
In his defense I'll say that it's a Dunkerque. That thing only has secondaries on the stern. You need to to show broadside to get use of them which is a bad idea or betray your manliness and run of the battle to be able to point your secondaries at the one chasing you. I think we can maybe make a special exception for Dunkerque's not getting secondary hits. Right now I don't remember the secondary range, but I think it wasn't great either.- 315 replies

This. When I started playing and didn't know how the last tiers are I was hyped about the Yamato and used free XP to get her. I'm by no means dissapointed by the ship but that's the problem. There are some really good ships at those trash tiers. I can't recommend free XP high tier ships, the way the game is at high tiers 9 and 10 there's no valid excuse for that. About low tiers (1-4/5) a lot of people free XP those ships. I admit that a lot of them are really boring when you get used to tier 7 and above ships but those first ships ask for little XP that you can go through them with a few battles. I don't really know if it's worth to waste free XP for the little time you'll be playing them regardless. Free XP them if you can't stand them because how boring some of them can be, but there's not much more point to it. However, I'm gonna be that guy again that recommend you to use your free XP to upgrade stock ships. Actually I've done every option I say, I free XPd to a T 10, I free XPd low tier ships and I agree that the only proper way to use your free XP without regret something is for that, to upgrade stock ships.

That sound like the definition of a Scharnhorst to me. Kutuzov is a really good cruiser too but you have to play it a lot more careful than a Scharnhorst, so it's harder to play even if Kutuzov it's not that difficult to play by cruiser standards. Scharnhorst on the other hand is almost as "noobproof" as Tirpitz, has good AA if you put a few skills in that, still has torps even if its three of them at each side instead of four like Tirpitz but it's so fun just spamming shots every 20 seconds with a turret traverse that laughs at the ones cruisers have. (Faster turret traverse than an Atago for example, that's damn good for a BB). Only "surprise" to point out about Scharnhorst, if you play other BBs and are used to BBs in general maybe it will take you a while to get used to the damage the guns deal and they're not the most effective guns against higher tier BBs. However the rate of fire greatly compensates for that so it still performs really well.

Is it a good Idea to remove Manual Atacks for low Tir CVs
Shirakami_Kon replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
I don't see why it shoud be a worse idea than removing AP for T1s. Who cares? Just like with any other class few new players learn to properly play their ships at low tiers. It's true that removing manual attacks for CVs at low tiers will make them useless against the player that's also sealclubbing in another ship class, but well... I wouldn't say that it's a nerf for the one sealclubbing in a CV either, your average potato will still be there getting destroyed even by auto drops. -
PETITION: leave all T+2 battles on entering...
Shirakami_Kon replied to R0551's topic in General Discussion
I agree that current MM is fine if also all tiers had the -2 MM (*ajem* instead of screwing T5 specially *ajem*) but... -
Sigh. Do you really need to ask? The answer is no. Of course not. I thought that the EU server can't have nice things was pretty clear after all this time.

What do you think about the stats of the new premium italian cruiser and of the tier 10 french cruiser?
Shirakami_Kon replied to HipHopHippopotamus's topic in Cruisers
I don't know about the TX, but after searching the premium one and see the armor that thing has my mind thought of something like that. -
Man, I thought I already forgot this one, but that way to say fire made me remember this again. https://youtu.be/YnheOlgK5uo?t=40s

Torpedo hit ratio: How low can you go?
Shirakami_Kon replied to asalonen's topic in General Discussion
11.37% ratio overall here. That said I suck with DDs so after a few months I nearly stopped playing them completely except a rare ocasion I feel like playing a random match in one so lately most of my torps come from BBs with which I don't actually bother about the torps until I sail past an enemy ship so I don't miss them that often. I could even spam them more than I do but since I learned to dodge torps quite well even in BBs I tend to expect the same from other players (maybe a mistake looking how the usual average player looks like?) but yeah... I very rarely bother with torps at more than 3 km. -
The time has come. BBs whining about other BBs.

Regia Marina light cruiser Duca D'aosta is coming
Shirakami_Kon replied to Pastaiolo's topic in General Discussion
Yes, it's actually funny on really light armoured cruisers when you actually survive more showing broadside even if it's a really bad idea overall because of the overpens than angling a bit trying to dodge the salvos and angling your armor actually makes your armor not enough to bounce but enough to take the citadel hit. But even broadside you might even get the citadel hit if you're unfortunate enough. -
Regia Marina light cruiser Duca D'aosta is coming
Shirakami_Kon replied to Pastaiolo's topic in General Discussion
BBs for sure. There's obviously the citadel every now and then but as a BB player I've experienced so many times that ships with such light armor most of the time don't even have enough armor for the AP fuse of a BB. Cruisers though... well, yes, sometimes even cruisers have overpens shooting at other cruisers but it's way more easy for them to get citadels on a ship like that. Plus the reload time. That's why as I said I'd be more scared of cruisers than even BBs with a ship like that. Let's hope as you said that at least maybe it has a weird citadel placement at least of something but I don't expect much about that. Cleveland had it a long time ago, citadeling one was almost like winning the lottery back in the day and now it has a huge citadel like any other cruiser, so... -
Regia Marina light cruiser Duca D'aosta is coming
Shirakami_Kon replied to Pastaiolo's topic in General Discussion
Yes I found the whole name funny too. And yeah, definitely not a ship that can take any hit, but with that armor... If I was playing one I'd be more worried about cruisers than even BBs. BBs definitely can one shot one of those, but well... BBs can one shot any cruiser, nothing new here. But with 70 mm armor... maybe you can still angle and bounce cruiser AP but I guess the moment you show broadside any cruiser turns into a BB for that thing the moment the'll learn how squishy that cruiser is. Even DDs might not have any problems citadeling that cruiser, specially the stalinium AP of the russian ones. -
Which maps? Maps like the old Islands of Ice? I still remember that iceberg formation that they removed because BBs cried everytime a DD wrecked them there. Which I admit that was dangerous because of the chances of that happening, but I loved that area as a BB. But yeah, aparently "all that cover and the close fight around every iceberg was bad for the game" so they changed that map bit by bit until the rework we have now that has nothing to do with the original one. Which it's actually bad now in domination, a south cover with a few islands here and there with a middle cap more open. ANd then there's the north cap with huge islands as cover that protect you at the cost of blocking all your shots and a narrow way to push south from there so a team that goes there rarely gets out of there with caps. And guess where everyone goes...
