Personally find you are asking yourself the wrong question (with the wrong conclusion). It isn't about how an individual player could benefits/disadvantaged from the current radar. The question should be how the game in general benefits/disadvantaged from the current radar. And I would say staying behind an island (doing nothing) isn't good. The game is only max 20 min = things should keep moving. And LOS radar is a 2-edged sword. Yes you wouldn't know radar is used. But the radar ship also doesn't know you are there. I don't see this game as a realistic naval-game. I see it as a shooter. But al little bit of realism wouldn't hurt.

On some gameforums you even get a penalty for only (not making, only posting a respons) posting on thread that you knew would be closest. And if you collected enough penalties you get an automatic forum-ban. So how does it work on the WOWs-forum? (I'm gonna post my question here because we all know a mod is coming)

I never understood why we have those patch/emblems? All that work to have some symbol behind your name? Why didn't you go for a flag-system to indentify yourself? A flag that would sit under your name on the forum. A flag (same flag) that you would see in you click on the name ingame. A flag (still the same flag) that would hang on your ship that you're playing? Really why? Also I don't think Europe was the daughter of Zeus. Didn't he kidnapped her under false pretenses (and rape the young girl). But let's say that Europa was the daughter of Zeus. So we have horizontal tango with own daughter, kidnapping, deception, unfaithful to his wife, bestiality, very old man with young girl, and possible rape. On top of that they say the beautiful Europa stands for Greece and the bull (and the kidnapping) stands for the invasion of Greece of Southern people (Afrika/Kreta). Can we have a ribbon for 'assisted destroyed'. If you do +50% of the damage (if not 99% ) but not the kill. You get a second price 'ribbon assisted destroyed'. Same ribbon as 'destroyed' but than in orange.

Sorry but radar SHOULD be a problem for DDs and smoke. I find radar a great thing. I have no intention to cancel out radar completely. If you ask me what I prefer. Smoke-dominated-games or radar-dominated-games. than it's 100% pro radar. I only want to give the DD a fighting chance. He can start the fire himself (if he is lucky). And put the radar-ship for a dilemma (use or not use repair for 1 fire). In some situations it will not matter. But in other situations he probably will sink by fire.

I personally would take the option of radar-clock keeps running even if the radar is knocked-out (smoke-timer doesn't stop of you leave your smoke / speedboast-timer doesn't stop if you crash in to a island) . That would put the radar-ship in a dilemma. Use repair and get radar back but be vulnerable for a new fires. Or keep repair and let the timer of the radar run out. If he uses repair (and he gets his radar back) and afterwards there is a new fire than his radar is again knocked-out for the rest radar-clock (because he already had use his repair). Normally a cruiser thinks twice before he uses his repair. And using his repair for only 1 fire is a gamble that could sink him by fire). To have no repair for a time is scary for a cruiser. Don't forget if he fired his guns (and detected by the DD) every BB and CA/CLis seeing him/her. Specially a cruiser that has used his radar (and they would know if they were also detected by that radar). The only limitation I would use is that fires on the bow or stern wouldn't knock-out the radar. Only the fires midship would knock-out the radar. (And also radar that ignores islands is idiotic)

I think we are reading the text(s) completely different. I don't read no silver PAN-EUR tree. I only read that if smaller EUR countries get a full branch they will get their own tree and flag. Why would the Polish captain of the premium Polish DD get extra value if you only put it in a sub-map with a Dutch premium ship? Because you can put a high level Polish captain in your Dutch ship? I think most will want a Dutch captain in a Dutch captain.

From Reddit Why will there be a Pan European nation?It's there for the same reason there is one for the PanAsian. Various countries that have some(popular) ships, but can't make a full line on their own, so they need to be combined in order to be implemented in the game. For the EU: don't expect full lines, like Polish CV's, the Swiss Mountain Navy. But they now have a "container-nation" that allows them to introduce (premium) ships of minor nations like Poland, The Netherlands & Austro-Hungary (for the time being, other nations can/will follow). If such a minor nation gets a techtree of their own later on, those ships from the Pan-European nation will merge to their nation techtree. It seems they say a little bit of everything. But of course we will have first premium ships. If that announcement was only to say they will make a new temporal sub-map...it would have been a non-announcement.

Not a technical genius but that idea of fire knocking out your radar looks like a great idea. 1/ It's uses an existing mechanic. So it isn't hard work 2/ It gives a fair chance to a DD to solve the problem itself in some cases. You have to see the radarship. than again radar shouldn't from behind an island. 3/ to extinguish or not to extinguish. Gives more dimension to 1 fire on your ship (maybe only the fires on your superstructure). Do you want to re-use your radar (and see the DD again) or do you want to save your damage controle for later.

I still find it strange that the first pan-EU branch only will have 3 countries. Is it to have as much as possible Polish ships? Or is it because they already have a 100% Swedish (DD) and Spanish tree in mind? Or will they split that smaller Eu tree in 3 parts? West+central Europe + Mediterranean Europe + Scandinavia. Who knows what the Devs think. A Dev mind is a strange and scary thing.

So what are "contractual battles"?

Just got the Normandie. So Dasha is the commander now. It's understandable but also al little bit sad that she doesn't speak french in the game. But no regrets for getting her. Maybe a little idea. National pin-up commanders that speak the language.
