Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
lup3s replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
5. very nice, any speculation what tier? 6. my Hosho and Langley like this 11. I hope they won't be able to damage the ship (i.e. it loses health) but rather destroy or suppress AA mounts (and maybe secondary guns). -
Still doesn't explain how at one moment "no team mate is around you", while the next moment an allied ship is so close. And if you're wise enough to not hit him with your main guns, why did you fire the torpedoes? Btw, torpedoes take only a few seconds to travel 0.2 or 0.3 km.. I don't understand how you didn't spot your ally

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
lup3s replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I met ABED1984 in his Moskva (luckily on the same team ). I was sailing my Benson. Kind of a slow start but in the end our team really dominated. (needed 200 hits for that one task but got only about 190.. the enemies died way to fast ) -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

impressive well done! -
I have to agree with Takru that something is off.. There's no way an allied ship can get that close that quickly. - Assuming that "no team mate around me" means there was no allied ship closer than 3-4 km to you. You probably misread the mini-map and didn't notice the allied ship coming to your aid.

Some pleb (nearly) TK'd me because I "stole his damage". (probably for some mission or task) But he might as well have TK'd me as he left me on ~200 HP.. I got sunk by an enemy few seconds later.
-
I've tried that (even trying to make the shell hit the water first so it doesn't overpen), but I just can't make it work. Only 4k XP left to the Gneisenau

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
lup3s replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
I want your luck. 2 Supercontainers out of 89 tries with TYL. But I do seem to get a lot 5x Papa Papa and 5x Juliet Charlie signal flags. Which are also quite useful -
I added a screenshot which kind of shows my average battle with the Bayern. I really love the König and kind of liked the Kaiser. They might have a lower calibre but it suited my style of playing a lot better (i.e. getting up-close and shotgunning enemy ships). Salvoes with the König or Kaiser that would delete a nearby (full health) enemy cruiser just result in a ton of overpens with the Bayern; and usually end up in me dying because of that stupid amount of overpens.
-
I like the Bayern as much as I liked the Kawachi and Myogi.. i.e. I hate it. Yes, the Bayern has the highest calibre at its tier (together with the Warspite), but this results in an endless streak of overpens (especially at close range). Overpens against broadside cruisers. Overpens against broadside battleships. Overpens. Overpens. Overpens.

Interesting idea about Royal Navy Cruisers.....
lup3s replied to cherry2blost's topic in General Discussion
that is just plain evil .. I want! -
yes but this makes the mission rather frustrating than hard to complete

few things first: The citadel is the part of the ship you want to hit with your AP shells. A citadel hit = max AP damage (e.g. Nagato: 12 600 max AP damage). Sailing broadside on means you're showing the flank of your ship to the enemy (i.e. the shells hit at a ~90° angle). This is a good way to receive massive damage. -> this is bad Angling your ship towards the enemy means the shells will hit your flank at an angle (far) lower than 90°. This is a good way to drastically reduce the damage taken. -> this is good 1. Depends on the tier, but in general the KM BBs are more forgiving and easier to play. Beware torpedoes though! KM BBs have the least torpedo protection. KM BBs have 'turtleback armour': the citadel is very hard to hit (even if they're broadside on), but the armour gets penetrated easily. They receive less but more consistent damage from AP shells. IJN and USN BBs usually have 'all-or-nothing armour',: broadside on their citadel is quite vulnerable so they're prone to massive damage hits. When angled, these ships are quite sturdy and hard to damage with AP. In general the KM BBs excel in close quarters combat; the USN BBs in short to mid range combat; and the IJN BBs in mid to long range combat (although there are some exceptions now and then). 2. This is highly subjective as one player can love a certain ship while another can loathe it. disclaimer: I'm currently at the Bayern, North Carolina and Amagi in each BB line. In my opinion, the keepers are (per tier): T3: Nassau (KM) Without a doubt the best non-premium T3 BB. T4: Kaiser (KM) and maybe Wyoming (USN) Both have an amazing shotgun (5x2 and 6x2 guns respectively). I prefer the Kaiser because of its turtleback armour. T5: Kongo (IJN) and König (KM) Hard choice because I like both equally. T6: Fuso (IJN) and maybe New Mexico (USN) Both are good but require a different style of playing (Fuso: mid to long range combat, New Mexico: short to mid range). They also have an amazing shotgun (6x2 and 4x3 guns). I hate the Bayern. T7: Nagato (IJN) and Colorado (USN) Hard choice because I like both equally. They also require a different style of playing. (Nagato: mid to long range combat, Colorado: short to mid range) T8: North Carolina (USN) and Bismarck (KM) I haven't played it yet, but the Bismarck has insane secondary guns when spec'd for it. The North Carolina is a tough nut to crack bow on, and it keeps 2/3 of its firepower when doing so. If you spec for it, the AA of the North Carolina is literally a no-fly zone. 3. I can't answer because I haven't bought any premium BBs yet. But if I were to buy one, it would be: USN: T5 Texas (carriers' nightmare) KM: T7 Scharnhorst or T8 Tirpitz (BBs with torpedoes.. need I say more? ) I hope this was helpful. Please do take into account that this is just my opinion, based on the experience I had with these ships.

I could have completed stage 5 in my Cleveland tonight if I were at that stage already (took me 2 battles in the Cleveland to get this result) I get your point, but as cro_pwr mentioned above, these missions will rather be annoying than difficult to complete.

Lets disable limit for BB participating in battle
lup3s replied to Draconobilis's topic in General Discussion
btw seems like I was mistaken, stage 3-4-5 can be completed with any ship T6+ -
Thank you all. I wasn't really sure what OP meant, but thanks to you it's clear to me now I support OP's idea!

You're correct, I probably read over them too quickly. But this makes the final stages even easier.. now I really don't understand why people complain about them.

Elimination thread number Two: Tier V
lup3s replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
ok to repeat; the correct score is: Zuiho (1/2/1): 21 Kongo: 23 Minekaze: 22 - 3 = 19 I don't know which other ship to take points away from. I won't take points from ships I don't have (i.e. Fujin/Kami, Grimmy & Murmansk). Fujin/Kamikaze: 24 Gremy: 31 Murmansk: 8 König: 24 + 1 = 25 Konig is love, Konig is life. Königsberg: 23 -
How to win and to keep winning, some advice for a good Winrate!
lup3s replied to thisheep's topic in General Guides
but what to do if you play alone 99% of the time? -
how do you get 125%? you can't simply add the percentages of damage done.. or is it just coincidence that the sum of the percentages you mentioned equals 125%? and what do you compare the 31 500 damage with? your own ship's HP? if so, what ship were you talking about?

Elimination thread number Two: Tier V

? I don't think I broke a rule.. -
Still.. the NC can read your mind as much as you can his. And while brawling with a Yamato the last thing he'll worry about is to get torped by a friendly. (because you don't expect teammates to be that stupid) Couldn't you just have repositioned yourself to get a 'safe' shot at the Yamato? Just don't fire your torpedoes along these lines then? (if there's a possibility to hit friendlies, otherwise you can of course) As mentioned before, you don't have to launch your torpedoes as soon as they are ready to. Think before you shoot.
-
'nuff said This map is a potato magnifier. Either they TK due to the situation you mentioned or they leave the side they spawned at to sail uselessly around the back for the first 10 minutes. But to answer your question: No, I won't fire torpedoes if there's a realistic chance to hit a friendly ship. I'd reposition myself so the torpedoes would run into an island or run out before hitting a friendly ship. You don't have to fire your torpedoes as soon as they are ready to.. Think before you act / shoot.
-
I know, but you shouldn't blame or insult your teammates when you hit them with your torpedoes because you were in that A-C------------B situation. Yes, ship A can torp to sink ship C, but he should ALWAYS take responsibility if his torpedoes were to hit ship B. (that includes not insulting that player) And, in my opinion, if you have to fire torpedoes in the path of friendlies to save your own life, you have made a tactical error. (unless the friendly ships are out of the torpedoes' range but that's trivial) A cruiser already has a lot of threats to worry about, you can't add 'friendly' torpedoes to that list. Torpedoes aren't friendly. And if you do, DON'T INSULT THE PLAYER FOR A MISTAKE YOU MADE.
