  3. This can very well be true; but I don't know. To everyone reading this topic: My experience I stated in my first post was based on the first days when the Santa's Gifts were made available. It could well be that the drop chance has been nerfed; so my 'tips' might no longer apply.

    fyi; SE is a standard first pick on any of my IJN DDs. Gunboat DDs that have a slow shell velocity I'll equip with either DE or SE first (e.g. my Lo Yang has SE and my Benson has DE; having more health gives me an advantage in knife fights, but I do notice the difference in fire chance). Gunboat DDs that have a good shell velocity I'll equip with AFT first (e.g. Leningrad, Gremy, Anshan, Blyska). I don't think BBs need any more buffs tbh. And if a player is that stupid to take (the current) SE on his BB, buffing it won't be of any help anyway to these players.

    it has been dropped down to a 3 point skill but it gives 'only' 350 HP / tier In my opinion SE is fine as it is. It's useful on DD captains. I do hope people have their sarcasm detector activated.

    Citadel damage can be repaired (be at a lower percentage than fire damage). [quote name= Note that not all damage can be 100% repaired. Whether you fire HE or AP, if you hit 2 out of 6 shells, your hit rate is still ~33%. The only (obvious) difference is the amount of hits you'll get within a certain time frame. e.g. let's consider a time frame of 30 seconds The first ship will have 'only' 3 hits (out of 9 shells fired), the second ship will have 9 hits (out of 27 shells fired), the third ship will have 12 hits (out of 36 shells fired), and the fourth ship will have 20 hits (out of 60 shells fired). But all these ships' hit rate is still the same: ~33%. And why is this a good thing?

    I thought the individual planes were quite on par (with the IJN planes mostly slightly better); but because of the squadron size the USN squadrons are a lot stronger.

    I think that Reyte meant that (overall) the average Essex statistics are not that good. Not your statistics specifically because you have nice statistics with the Essex.

  12. Had some nice games in division with ImWithStupid and fun6utzi. What do you get when you're top tier with a division with 3 DDs? I also had a quite nice game with the Yugumo (and a very satisfying First Blood / Devastating Strike very early in the battle). In the end the enemy Missouri had to decide to keep his bow pointed towards ImWithStupid and eat all my torpedoes, or dodge (most) of my torpedoes and show broadside to ImWithStupid. Either way his faith was sealed. (but he chose the latter) Those FDGs on our team though... And last but not least, 715k credits with my Tirpitz on a defeat.

    About Cruisers

    To be honest, I don't think he sees them that often to make such a statement. Of course not (unless it's on a low tier RN CL ). However, the new IFHE skill might prove a big change in this for BBs (i.e. with this skill they might get citadel hits on cruisers with their HE shells). Point is (as mentioned by other players), one of the key aspects of playing cruisers is to know which shell type to use in which situation. Sometimes the better choice is AP, other times it's HE. First, it doesn't seem like you're doing too well using only AP shells. Second, decent players don't think HE is the answer to everything. AP is very powerful to delete broadside cruisers or cause serious damage to battleships, but sometimes you just have to resort to HE because your AP shells will shatter or bounce. I'll repeat myself: sometimes it's better to use HE shells and other times it's better to use AP. Choosing and switching shell types according to the situation is one of the key aspects of playing a cruiser right. But it's not about the PoV of the ships shooting HE and starting fires; it's about the psychological effect it has on enemy ships that want to push. Setting them on fire in multiple locations can discourage them to push a base or a certain location. You prove this yourself by stating that "you can't afford to let a fire melt you". If they can discourage you to go to a certain (advantageous) location by burning your ship, they have achieved that psychological effect on you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I'll repeat myself again: A cruiser shouldn't be played using only AP shells or HE shells. The best way the play cruisers is to use both types of ammunition, and knowing which type to use in which situation. A general rule of thumb can be: - broadside cruiser or battleship? -> use AP to deal a lot of damage very quickly ---- On cruisers you can get citadel hits and on battleships you can get penetrations (and in some cases even citadel hits). - bow-/stern-on cruiser or battleship? -> use HE to deal some damage and start fires ---- Getting citadel hits on bow-/stern-on cruisers is unreliable and with/on some cruisers just impossible. And bow-/stern-on battleships will just bounce the majority of your AP shells. ---- Of course there are some exceptions (e.g. the Atlanta's citadel can be hit through the bow or stern).

    Same here, along with other things he got wrong in that video. The thing is, I don't have the feeling that players like us that test the new captain skills and changes (as we are willing to), are heard when we give feedback (except if it's to cancel a nerf to BBs). Meanwhile I have the feeling that CCs like Jingles (or iChase) can have a far bigger influence with their feedback; but the former becomes more and more distanced from the game or doesn't care about it any more (hearing his dubious statements and errors ) and the latter... I don't know what's wrong with him lately but it seems like he has suffered a serious brain injury . Sorry for off-topic. OT: IFHE is very powerful on BBs. Very few bounces and overpens on CAs, and sometimes even an occasional citadel hit that I wouldn't ought possible with AP. I don't know if it works for the secondary guns? But that would make the skill insanely powerful for secondary build BBs.

    Like saying that 360° - 60° = 270° Or that an IJN DD with 1km AA range should still always have his AA turned off. It doesn't matter if your AA range is lower than your Air Detectability range. Or that an IJN DD's main armament is his torpedoes, and he shouldn't use his guns because they suck. My Yugumo disagrees.

    If you're a DD or CA/CL, yes. I never picked SA as a skill for my BB captains (I just assumed I was spotted all the time anyway).

  20. I REALLY need to vent some frustration. T8 domination battle, only one DD on each team (we have a Benson, enemy has a Kagero). Our Benson literally does NOTHING. He didn't capture any base. He's scared to pick a fight with the Kagero. At a moment he's further away from the enemy team than any of our ships. And OF COURSE he's firing torpedoes from second line! I made the mistake of looking up his statistics, and now I'm somewhere between anger / frustration / disbelief (/ laughter). Players like these literally ruin battles and suck all the fun out of them (for me).

    I don't know what happened before the start of this video, but couldn't he just have shot you by accident? Then you start harassing him (while he seems to want to continue playing) until he got enough of it and damaged you even further. I can't approve his reaction, but I also can't approve your behaviour.
