  1. Look, let's say you're right and by your own definition, the average player isn't willing to make the effort. My question is, why not remove the effort? Or at least part of it. Why does it need to be more difficult than it needs to? And you could argue that all the games I mentioned above also have tons of resources outside of the game but they still chose to have that information in the game too. There must be a reason for that and I think it's because yes, people don't like making an effort. All I am saying is that the current system where the information might be available as you say, clearly isn't working for everyone. Tell me this, do you think it's more reasonable to expect the playerbase to magically change their behavior or do you think it would be better to try to make other changes to help them?
  2. Yeah, like I said, I don't think there is an issue with people that just want to sail around and make stuff go "boom" now and then. But there is no reason whatsoever why information is this hard to access. The how it works series for example. Why don't I get a link to that when I right click on HE shells? Just as an example. Also I don't think it's a good idea to expect people to persevere. You want to make it as easy as possible for them to get information and stay in the game. Every person who quits because they didn't understand why they couldn't see anything after they used their smoke is a loss for all of us who do enjoy the game and want to see it thrive.
  3. Well I expect most people who chime in all those "players are bad" threads to show up here and offer their support and feedback. You know the saying "put your money where your mouth is", right?
  4. An Acer Predator Z35P. Its resolution is 3440 x 1440 and it overlocks to 120Hz. It's annoying cause I cannot really stream well with it due to the aspect ratio but other than that it's a decent monitor.

    Strange players

I genuinely don't want to stifle discussions in any way shape or form but I have to close down one of these threads every other week. They can all be summed up as "bad players are bad". Again, I totally understand the sentiment - I have often been frustrated as well. But these threads always just devolve into name-calling which doesn't do anything for them. Locked.
  6. I run a 2080 TI with everything maxed out - I get a constant 120 fps.

    Stat Shaming Rule Clarification Request.

OK since the question has been answered and we have gone off topic several times now, I am going to go ahead and lock this. For any other questions about the rules please feel free to PM me.

    How many bombs are there??

I spent a bit of time cleaning up this thread. If your post has been deleted, consider it a gentle reminder that the next time you try to be "funny" or edgy there might be more severe sanctions.

Cleaned the thread up a bit. Let's keep the discussion on topic, please.
  11. Hey please don't post pics of any nudity on this forum. Demon, slaneesh or otherwise.
  12. Be nice everyone. Don't drop by just to leave a snarky reply. It's like making fun of people out of shape at the gym. They are clearly trying to improve by being there so help them. I deleted some posts but I am keeping an eye on the thread.

    Stat Shaming Rule Clarification Request.

If from all the examples I gave you want to interpret that there's no room to manoeuvre then I can't really help you. But as to your example, if someone says that DDs are OP or whatever, then countering with their stats does nothing. However if instead of that you ask them if they have experience in playing the class and what makes them say that and take it from there then the burden of proof falls on them. Attack the argument not the person. Realistically if they reply with "no, never played DDs nor do I plan to" then they have already lost the argument without you ever needing to pull up their stats. You cannot argue against an opinion based on nothing nor should you. Even in your example going straight to their stats is incredibly counter productive and won't convince them or anyone else that they are wrong. So yeah, player 2 would absolutely constitute stat shaming. And now this might upset you but even though it's politely phrased, an argument could be made that player 3 reply is also sort of stat shaming. Let me explain. Instead of pulling their stats straight away, player 3 should ask player 1 to define what they mean by "works perfect". Ask player 1 to be more precise. Basically ask them to discuss that performance that they consider that it "works perfect". If they say that they get a 42% WR that is an argument that you COULD counter with stats with an answer like "well the average WR for the Fletcher is 49% so I am not sure your spec is as good as more traditional specs". Note that in this case player 1 posted their 42% WR themselves and you just pulled the average win rate to counter that. I hope I am making sense here. As an added point, nobody in their right mind would be like "I get a 42% win rate, therefore it's great". Honestly, if someone does post that, there's no point in arguing in the first place because you are not arguing about a ship spec, you are actually arguing about what constitutes good performance. You are not even debating the same thing, if you know what I mean. These two examples were good because personal stats don't matter in either of them so you don't need to use them. As far as hidden stat bias goes, the best player I know in this entire game, a super unicum in all classes with solo win rates hovering around 70-75% hides his stats. The assumption that someone is bad because they hide their stats is wrong by definition. Edit: again, because it might have been missed in my initial post, the rules cannot cover all situations and there will be borderline cases which will be difficult to judge.

    Stat Shaming Rule Clarification Request.

I am more than happy to explain and I am sorry if things are unclear. Stat shaming: Using someone's stats, gameplay screenshot/footage to make a derogatory post about said player. But I realise that seems a bit broad so I will give some examples here for clarity: Stat shaming examples: 1) Someone says that ship X is OP/UP in their opinion. Replying with their stats for that ship to dismiss their opinion absolutely is stat shaming. We all have ships that we do really well in despite the ship itself being terrible and we all have "cursed" ships that everyone praises but we suck in. 2) Someone gives their opinion on a random topic. Replying with their stats to shut them up is stat shaming. Counter the argument itself without going after the poster. If they didn't mention their stats nor should you. Examples of stats being used where it's not stat shaming 1) Someone says that they perform really well/badly in ship X. Replying with their stats to point out that's not the case (in a respectful way) is not stat shaming. By respectful I mean don't say "you are a potato in ship X" but do say "you seem to be performing slightly under expected values in ship X". Don't dismiss their opinion but point out that there are other things at play. 2) Someone says they are losing 9 out of 10 matches. Replying with their stats to point out that they won 50% of their matches and there might be some confirmation bias at work is not stat shaming. Same for the opposite. If someone says they won all their matches, it's not stat shaming to point out that it was not the case. 3) Someone says the last ranked season was super easy. Replying with their stats to point out that they won 70% of their matches and they are a statistical outlier is not stat shaming. 4) Posting someone's stats to praise them for their performance is not stat shaming. Basically if the argument is NOT linked to their performance, don't post their stats. If someone is making an argument about their performance (stats) then using stats to counter said argument is fine. If a player mentions their performance in the first place then of course you are free to discuss it. After all they started the conversation about that topic. And as a general rule, don't dismiss any opinion based on stats alone. And we have never ever sanctioned anyone for posting stats in praise of a player. Honestly we could all use a bit more positivity here so feel free to pat each other on the back whenever you feel like. We cannot cover all cases with rules so some of it does fall under common sense so when you are taking a screen shot of someone's stats, ask yourself if the motivation behind your actions is constructive or if you are just trying to bash someone over the head with their stats to dismiss them. If it's the later we might have a problem. As always feel free to contact me (or other mods) whenever you have questions. I will be keeping an eye on this thread so ping me here if you have additional questions or if you disagree with anything I said. Edit: I forgot one thing that I have seen occasionally. If someone has their stats hidden, going after them because of that is not stat shaming per se but it will get you in trouble most likely. Stuff like "how can I listen to someone who has their stats hidden" constitutes a personal attack and it obviously doesn't have anything to do with their argument.

    What's wrong with your devs?

OK enough fun has been had here. I wouldn't want this to actually turn mean. As a general advice to everyone, don't insult people especially when there's a chance you might be totally wrong. This was a good example of what not to do. Be nice! Locked.

    What's wrong with your devs?

Absolutely. Which is why, when you are confused, you go and ask politely. We wouldn't be laughing here if OP would have come to the forum like "Hi guys, so I did this mission but it didn't progress. Am I doing something wrong?" - someone would have mentioned the random requirement, OP would have thanked them and we'd all be moving on. Being insulting and so confidently wrong however makes for hilarious results.

    What's wrong with your devs?

As long as it's just some ridicule and not actual insults thrown at the OP, a bit of fun never hurt anyone.

    What's wrong with your devs?

I was coming in here like "oh someone insulting the devs, I should clean that up..." and then this happens. This is pure gold. I wonder if OP will come back to this thread thinking that he is totally in the right and maybe he will even get an official apology from someone at WG. And then he'll start reading the replies. I would love to see the reaction

  23. So with the change to Moskva and all the UI related improvements, I feel this is a good time to discuss something that has been in WoT for a while. A button to assign the last used commander on a ship. Basically you might want to use the same commander on different ships but it can be a pain to look for them in the roster every time you switch ships. You can have the same commander for several gold/special ships plus one silver so it would make sense to just press a button to reassign the last used commander. What do we think?

    Ranked joke

I cleaned this thread a bit. Please adhere to the rules if you don't enjoy receiving sanctions for some random post. Also, if your post has been edited with red text or outright deleted take that as the gentlest of gentle warnings to not break the rules again. And by that I mean, much more severe penalties will follow if we can't all be civil. Be nice, people.
