This is a wider tactical discussion. For example I had a ranked battle (which we won) but I sort of went on my own on one flank when I noticed that they were going to push that flank with 2 DDs and a BB. I killed the 2 DDs one by one and then died eventually to the BB. But I kept 3 enemy players busy for over 10 minutes. So my team had numerical superiority on the other side. I figured that it was worth risking my own life as long as I didn't die in the first 3 minutes. This despite half my team berating me constantly, even after I explained that I know I will die but I need to be there otherwise we will lose (a bb in smoke and 2 DDs spamming torpedoes from a flank = sure loss). In another situation however, I stayed with the team, smoked and then while I was bow on with the speed boost, I ate a single torpedo right on the nose - I simply couldn't dodge it in time as my speed combined with its speed was over 100kn. My point is that it's not always as clear cut. Sometimes you have to take risks. I would rather try to do something - anything, than just sit there and lose in 20 minutes.

    The "new" Grozovoi

What is the difference between the Khaba/Tashkent HE dmg and the Grozo? As far as I know, the Khaba has 1900 and the Grozo 1800 - surely that's not a big enough difference, unless I am missing something. I haven[t played my Khaba in quite a while so I don't know the stats off the top of my head.

    The "new" Grozovoi

It depends. I would give it to the Grozovoi if it's fully gun spec'd. I mean even at close ranges the Gearing guns will occasionally miss. And When you don't miss, it's difficult to aim at the exact spots you want to hit. That is obviously not the case with the Grozovoi - at 6km you can hit the knob off a fly if you want to, let alone target unsaturated sections of the Gearing. But it's a close fight. That's if the Gearing has survival expert. Otherwise you just kill it and are left with like 7k hp or so.

I think it all boils down to how you say it really. And understanding that people can chose to not listen to you at all and there's nothing you can do about it. Like if you're not a super unicum, just say "look, I am no expert but I would go cap B". That's an opinion, it's open for debate. If you are a very good player, lose the attitude - nobody cares that you're Poseidon himself if you've got the manners of an poop-flinging baboon. You can simply say "look, I've won hundreds of matches on this map and going to D on North with BBs will lose us the game - just trust me on this and please don't do that". Not saying I am an angel, I've been ragey on more than one occasion. But it's usually after a loss because people didn't listen at all. I always make a point of trying to be constructive at the start at least. It's just better.

I would like to have some marking on my ship! Was that done I wonder?

Your particular example while valid, is by not means generally true. I can counter your point with the huge number of times when I got "yelled" at for not capping. Despite the caps being totally locked down by the enemy team. Either by having ships on them or by having a radar cruiser right next to the cap. Basically situations where I would have died instantly had I gone in. This didn't matter to the "experts". The main point is that everyone likes to think they know the game well enough to be able to identify bad play but that is simply not the case.

    nerfed kabarovsk

With all due respect, his mentality is fine in that case. For example I am very disappointed when I am not in the top 3. I consider it a failure when I don't achieve that. That's the standard that I hold myself to. You should change your mentality and demand more from yourself. Why would you be surprised that you did well? I am sure you can perform just as well as anyone here. You seem like a reasonably intelligent person (despite your weird inclination for anime ). If you ever need info on ships or a bit of tactical insight, drop me a note and either I or someone from the clan I am part of will happily help you. Now as far as your humbleness and his supposed "seniority", don't worry about it, he has no idea what he's talking about. Number of games don't mean knowledge or even skill.

Fixed (highest wr of any ship at t10).

    The "new" Grozovoi

Try to get AFT before BFT. It's very important. If you want to talk more about how I play it, send me a PM in-game. I am usually happy to spend 15-20 minutes to explain my reasoning and then you can decide if my play style is for you.
  11. I don't know if you are being facetious but there is a reason why that BBaby bingo card was created (with frightening accuracy I might add).
  12. That seems to be the answer to every problem. Honestly, it would actually take me a fair bit of time to list all the nerfs that DDs have received. But at least for most of those it was justifiable by saying it was for the greater good or whatever. But now the logic seems to be, BBs don't like getting shot by stuff they can't see - remove stealthfiring! BBs are still getting shot by stuff they cannot see - nerf the hell out of smoke. It's like if BBs are annoyed by something ever so slightly it gets hit with the nerfhammer until it learns its place. And there are people actually rooting for this approach. I feel like there seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of the fact that DDs cannot tank damage. They will never fire in the open and get deleted in two salvos - everyone will just play torpedo boats (until those get nerfed) and if that doesn't work, everyone will just play Khaba.
  13. How would it not affect DDs? Hybrid DDs (z52, Gearing, Grozovoi, Fletcher, Benson etc.) would be neutered. It's a massive dmg nerf. But again, people keep skirting the main issue here which is - DDs do not need to be nerfed. In fact the only DD that is phenomenal is the Khaba that doesn't really use smoke in its most effective spec. Yes the Belfast is OP - it should be looked at in particular not drive general tendencies for nerfs.

The problem I have with this is that it implies that you think you know better than the person you are berating. I am not sure that's the case. Just curious, what makes you think you know better than the people in your examples?

    Be honest (Stats)

I check my own stats regularly - it's the way I make sure that I have some pressure to improve. I also check other people's stats if they stand out - either they have a phenomenal game, in which case I want to see if it was a fluke or if they are actually god-like, in which case I will PM them and try to learn from them. Conversely if I see a t10 player that does nothing the whole match, I will occasionally check their stats out of pure curiosity. It's like when you're driving and you see someone doing something really stupid, you will try to see their face out of curiosity. I will also occasionally check stats of people handing out advice. That doesn't mean that I don't take their opinions into account, just that I will be a bit more skeptic because then their advice is unproven theory while if someone is super-unicum on a boat, they are speaking from experience. Stats are important to me as they are the only objective measure we have.

My noob question of the century

If you have RPF, you should always know where to point your guns so EM is not great. And make no mistake, if a Gearing is dumb enough to let you kite him you can kill him in a straight up 1v1 (if you have AR your gun DPM is not bad at all). You have around 7kn of speed over him with speed boost so you will eventually get past the 6-7km point where his guns become very ineffective. A skill that you need to learn is to wiggle your butt when your guns are on cooldown. So it should be shoot ->turn ->guns about to come off cd ->turn back -> shoot etc. This makes you a very annoying target. You can also bait shells to use AR if, for example all enemy DDs are dead or are on the other side of the map. You just find a big dumb BB and fire your guns once at it from 10km and then take a salvo. Just try to make sure it can't use more than 2 turrets. That will shave off around 5-10k off your health which will give you an extra 5-10% torp reload buff. This is what I use and recommend http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc/0100000000000011011000000000001119

    The "new" Grozovoi

It's better than the Gearing. Its guns reach out to a very respectable 13.2km. I only use them from smoke/cover or on stuff that is busy with other things. It's not a Khaba. But the Guns + smoke = reliable damage from a safe range. You cannot really smoke like before in the Gearing (at like 8km) because there are too many radar ships in play, not to mention all the hydro boats. So you need to be able to smoke at 10km+ and still land shells reliably - the Grozo excels at that. As far as torpedoes go, yes, they are shorter range than the Gearing's and have less dmg but you don't really launch torpedoes from further than 10km anyway and they have a shorter base cooldown than the Gearing's, weirdly enough. Properly specced there is also no DD apart from the Khaba that can deal with it in open waters. It will monster any Gearing that tries to fight it because of gun accuracy, and Z52s unless they hydro+smoke are just appetizers before your main meal of BBs. And don't discount the AA - the spec I use is naturally very AA heavy due to a focus on the guns. This puts my AA rating on 61. This is more than enough to make sure that no CV hovers your planes over your smoke because you will shoot them down and when you pop def AA, it becomes a very scary AA platform. Anything not a Midway or to a lesser extent an Essex will steer clear of you. It is also much faster than the Gearing. The extra 3.5kn are actually quite important and mean that it feels like a DD rather than a tug boat (which is what the Gearing feels like). Throw in a speed flag over that and you're at over 41kn. This is decent speed and allows you to dodge incoming fire at 12km+ if you want to play it more like a Khaba. It's the second fastest DD at t10. And its guns are phenomenal. Once you try them out all other guns feel worse, including cruisers. The shell velocity is exceedingly good and they are pin point accurate and have a very good fire chance. If any BB tries the whole bow on tanking thing, you just pop a smoke at like 10-11km away from it and you will kill it very fast indeed without anyone being able to do anything about it. It's difficult to dislodge something spamming you from smoke from next to its BB line. Lastly the health pool is very good. You get to 24.400 hp with survival expert. That is a lot of health that enemies have to chew through. So the Grozo actually excels at a lot of things. It feels like the smoothest DD experience right now to me. Nothing feels particularly clunky about it, except maybe the turning circle but no ship is perfect. When comparing it to the Gearing think of it this way, they are both hybrids, the Gearing leans toward torpedoes, the Grozovoi towards guns. Guns are more reliable and can be used on anything while torpedoes are terrible against cruisers and DDs. TL;DR: Fast, stealthy, great guns, great AA, gun-focused hybrid DD.

    Destroyer survivability

Pretty much this. For anyone that played ranked this season, it was obvious that DDs were getting blown out of the water at 12-14km sometimes by a single BB salvo. There is no counter-play to that other than running to the edge of the map so you don't get spotted by other DDs.

    Grozovoi vs Shima

If the Shima could counter the Grozovoi (one of the best DDs at t10) then I would only play Shima and nothing else. You run away from it, you smoke, if it tries to push your smoke you torp the living hell out of it. In a 1v1 the Grozovoi has the upper hand. You have a good chance though if you are kiting away.

    The "new" Grozovoi

I am not a fan of your spec. I run a full gun spec on my Grozovoi (and have done so since before the patch) - I think my results in it are quite decent. This is what I run http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc/1000000000000011010010000000100119 If you want to contest caps, then the Z52 is a much better choice.
  21. Well it makes it so the meta doesn't revolve around smoking. And by your logic then BBs are the issue, so how about we leave smoke alone?
  22. I still think that the actual solution here is to make BBs unable to use smoke (basically make smoke have no effect on BBs). It's not a perfect solution but it would nerf smoke camping without nerfing the ships that reply on smoke.

Strange things that happen on rank

This was by far the easiest season for me. I finished in like 100 odd matches or so. 66 or 67% wr overall. I only had 1 day when I played 15 matches, lost 9 but didn't actually lose any stars, just ended up where I began - frustrating but not the end of the world. Rank 5+ was quite a challenge occasionally. Mistakes are usually punished heavily and I lost some matches because I was like 15-20 seconds late to smoke my team mates etc. Very low margin for error. No OP premiums, interesting matches all things considered. Fusos spamming HE was real this season though.
  24. That's a whole different discussion altogether. Point is that it was removed, it indirectly buffed BBs, no compensation was given.
  25. You mean like the compensations for stealth fire removal?
