    Z-46 struggle

    1) you are far too kind. We should team up again sometime. 2) The way I would spec both the z46 and the z52 is PT, LS, AR, SE, BFT, DE, CE. That way you have enough firepower to handle other DDs, which also works well with DE. And since a lot of your damage comes from dot stacking, DE is very good as well.
  2. Yes, of course not having torpedoes is a disadvantage. But what I meant is that you shouldn't be a free kill to a Gearing. And the Khaba thing, I don't think I've run into Khabas with RPF very often if at all. And while I am aware it can run you down, it will have to do so while under fire from your teammates. I think I've only been chased like that by a Khaba a couple of times at most. I don't see it happening and Khabas don't tend to pray on other DDs most of the time. Look, of course PADDs are susceptible to being charged down by other DDs. It can certainly happen. They will not be easy boats to play. But I believe that the tradeoffs will be worth it. At the moment it' so rare for me to knife fight other DDs that it barely happens (unless I am in the Z52). It's just very difficult to fight another DD in the open while everything is shooting at you so being able to land more torps might just be a significant edge.
  3. You should be on equal terms with a Gearing. No DD worth his salt will eat torpedoes in a knife fight. A khaba should not be able to chase you down unless you made some serious mistake. The PanAsia DD uses speed boost which means you should at least be able to run better than the Gearing.
  4. I disagree completely. You are underestimating how good they will be. Right now, one of the main things making DDs very difficult to play is that, even when you take the time to get into a great position, you fire your torpedoes only to watch ballerina BBs take only one torp because they started to dodge after they had been spotted. This will not be possible with DW torpedoes. Their detection means that, if your target will be getting hit by your torpedoes, it will be getting hit hard because multiple torpedoes will hit.
  5. So some of us have amassed a considerable amount of credits and there's nothing to actually do with them. I realize that this isn't an issue for everyone but I know quite a few people with over 100m credits. For instance I am on around 600m credits at the moment. A solution here would be to have a clan vault where we could deposit the credits and other clan members could benefit from them. Obviously there would need to be some restrictions so we don't wind up with gold sellers. Something like having to be in the clan for at least 30 days and having contributed at least 500 oil before you can take out 5m or something. I am sure some sort of draconian set of rules could be put in place to ensure the economy doesn't go crazy. I realize that WG sells some credits so this might be an unacceptable solution because of that. Or there may be restrictions with moving currency of any kind between accounts. If the above solution is deemed unfeasible then can we please convert them at extortionate rates to doubloons or free xp or something like that. Basically we need a way to spend this resource.

    Something to do with Credits

I think it's also a result of me not playing a lot of lines. And because I tend to play high tiers and tend to have prem camo on the 3-4 ships that I play both free xp and credits just accumulate. It's also a result of me having a positive win rate.

    Cyclons over & over again??..why?

It's ironic that he complains about the high number of cyclones with a post with a high number of cyclones.

    I PM'd you anyway.

    He is so right!!

He's had an axe to grind with the unicum community since the Des Moines IFHE debacle.

I've been "decadent without limits" as you describe it for at least 1 year. During said year I went from around 200m to over 600m. I am not the richest person by far.

Well no, the point is not to make it more expensive. Nobody suggested that. That would be counter-productive in the extreme. I can't! That is the whole point. I cannot do anything with the silver!
  13. _Teob_

    He is so right!!

Yup. I even saw a fighter plane Des Moines in team battles. But my point is, you can do that and nobody can stop you. But insisting that people respect that and even be happy and supportive of your unique tactics is totally silly.

    Some battles from my clan

Great little presentation. I genuinely enjoyed that.

    He is so right!!

How is he right? He has totally unfounded complains and makes straw-man arguments. So his gripes are: 1) The community is mean. I don't know what his expectations are. Yes people can be out of line occasionally but overall the community is one of the better I've seen. Not saying insults are acceptable when they do happen but some people simply are rude. Anyone who has ever driven a car knows that there are people who are simply rude. Also, I would argue that allowing people with 19pt captains and thousand of battles of experience to play exclusively at low tiers hurts new players a lot more. I don't know about anyone else but when I start a new online game, I can ignore the foaming at the mouth idiots throwing expletives around but I sure as hell can't ignore getting stomped into the ground and not understanding why that happened. 2) People are running optimal builds. So first of all, I find it ironic is that he complains about not being able to do anything while torpedoing the crap out of a Fletcher. He's all like "you can't do literally anything" while deleting 90% HP of another player's health. Secondly, people run very heavy AA builds because if you do come up against a carrier and you don't have a lot of AA you just get farmed for damage. Thirdly, complaining that people min-max is dumb. Of course people do that. While would they run a sub-optimal build? There is quite a bit of variation and several builds work on most ships but there is a range of viability. Or rather a range where you can achieve optimal performance. The further you stray from this range the more difficult you make your own life. The alternative would be for all of us to run IFHE on Des Moines or something useless like that. But saying that there's only a single spec is a blatant lie. (that's not to say that ships like the MK or Belfast weren't too good and, in the case of the MK, overused in competitive - but this is why they were removed from the shop) 3) People complain when you are wasting their time Doing "original" stuff in an online game is controversial. It basically means that you think everyone else is there for your benefit. When you are part of a team, you should try your best. It's simple as. Otherwise while you are running around with your Smoke Screen Expert IFHE Des Moines with the acquisition module and fighter plane instead of radar, trying to cap D on North, you are handicapping 11 other players. You are basically saying my 20 minutes of goofing around are more important than 11 * 20 minutes of someone else's time. Are people supposed to just accept the special unique snowflakes that waste their time? And the great part is that you can do that. The game doesn't stop you in any way. So to me, whining about the fact that people might not be happy with that is really pointless. On a related note, people don't usually complain when you make mistakes. Those happen and most players are understanding. People complain when you make dumb mistakes (like torpedoing from the second line) or when you do really dumb things (like going off solo in a t10 BB to the middle of nowhere). He's just making exaggerations and looking at things only through his perspective. It's amazing how we judge other people on their actions but we judge ourselves on our intentions.

I am worried that would be perceived as P2W (the radar module bit) But yeah, you should be able to purchase some flags with silver. That would probably solve everything.

    Z-46 struggle

Since the answer to the initial question was answered, I hope nobody will mind me going a bit off topic here. The way good players get good in this (or any game) is best exemplified by this thread here. The OP is a good player but when he felt like he was under-performing on a ship, he asked for help. Basically good players tend to be self-critical and they don't make excuses for when they suck. The game simply isn't fun for good players unless they are performing well. Personally I managed to stop sucking only when I took a good hard look at myself. Watched replays of my games and compared them to replays of amazing games played by others etc. I used to be terrible. Like 45% win rate terrible. Being good at this game is not that difficult and the biggest hurdle you have to overcome is yourself. It is also incredibly fun and engrossing when you do start to improve. It's like a game in itself. If I were to sum up WoWs community in a nutshell it would be "While some people are busy getting good at the game, others are busy at getting good at making excuses for why they are not good at the game" If you struggle to figure out where you are making mistakes, I am more than happy to watch some of your replays or play a couple of matches with you and help out.

That was a battleship, right? Like I said, please god no more battleships! We really have too many as it is. Both premium and in game in general.

the higher the tier the less I enjoy it.

My initial post wasn't at all pure opinion. It was logical reasoning. Like I said, there's no reason to assume that high tiers have more bad players. The logical assumption is that the percentage stays constant throughout the tiers but that new players improve. So you have essentially, broadly speaking, 4 types of players. Good players, average players, bad players and new players. There is undoubtedly movement in the first 3 categories (from bad to good) and then new players will naturally fall into one of those 3 eventually. So whatever other opinion we might have, there aren't any new players at t10. So it stands to reason that t10 should just have people that are bad, average and good and at least in the same proportion as lower tiers, but there are no new players. That's all logic and there are no assumptions there. There are indeed a significant number of players that never improve but again, that doesn't mean that they all stop at t10. That is pure assumption. Do you not feel like you've learned to play better as you moved up the tiers?

    T10 downgrades

Yeah to me they both feel like tier 9.5 ships. I totally get why people don't consider the Gearing a flat upgrade.
  21. _Teob_

the higher the tier the less I enjoy it.

It doesn't make sense at all. That way of looking at it needs some serious leaps of faith/assumptions: - you need to assume that people never improve - you need to assume that people never go back to lower tiers - you need to assume that people grind a limited number of ships - you need to assume that potatoes make money magically so they can afford to stay at t10. In my experience (which is obviously anecdotal) everyone improves or they do something else. Very few people will just keep playing at t10 with a 45% win rate. Some will just quite the game, others will blame everyone else or the game itself for their performance and go back to the lower tiers where they had a 50%+ win rate. At any rate we're moving into the realm of opinions now.

    T10 downgrades

I will ask you the same thing. Do you actually think I don't know that a Yugumo is faster than an Iowa? I explained like 4 times by now that my point is that the Yugumo is so slow that it would struggle to get away from an Iowa, if it spots it. Like say when coming around an island or something. The whole point was to showcase that the fastest BB at its tier is almost as fast a the Yugumo. And after you seemed confused by what I said, I explained myself several times. You took something out of the context of the wider conversation (where I explained what I meant) and keep using that out of context thing with glee to prove that I was wrong. It's petty. But just to be clear so you feel satisfied, I don't think that in a race the Yugumo can outrun an Iowa. What I do think is that if an Iowa spots the Yugumo, the Yugumo will not be able to get away from it because they have almost the same speed. Basically you interpreted what I said as though the theoretical Yugumo and Iowas were parallel while I was looking at it as though they are basically on top of each other and how in certain circumstances, they would run at almost the same speed. It was meant to be taken as hyperbole. Like "look, in certain situations they are almost as fast - isn't the Yugumo slow?" If we were face to face and I would have said that and you would have been super eager to correct me, I would have stopped talking to you cause it's pointless to talk to a pedant. I feel like you're one of those people that when one of your acquaintances tells you something like "I'll be there faster than the speed of light" you're all like "well actually, you cannot travel faster then the speed of light..." or when someone says "I've told you a million times" you're all like "actually it was 5 times at most!". But I genuinely don't want to continue with this stupid off-topic so, you win... whatever it is that you feel like you want, you got it. Congratulations! (?) @ColonelPete proved my point ages ago anyway (better than I did) so I am done here.

If you're gonna go all Dr. Evil, then how about another Radar BB? If anything just because I will cry in a corner for 3 days or something if that happens as a result of me starting this thread...

Or that yeah. That's a good way to put it as well.
  25. _Teob_

    T10 downgrades

That is literally it. It's like I am talking to walls here. I was just trying to explain that you will not get away from a lot of ships because the Yugumo is so damn slow. What I was trying to say is that the Yugumo isn't better or more agile than the Shima. And people latched on to that stupid f@cking Iowa example because OMG someone might not be 100% accurate on the internet! Not that the main point doesn't stand but the details of that point need to be super accurate lol. The details need to be accurate only when changing said details changes the point. Otherwise it is useless nitpicking.
