Has anybody succeeded at super hard mode, this year? (I do not want to hear from people who have done it in the past) We just had a couple of attempts with a full team on Discord, but Rasputin's constant healing meant that despite each team member doing >150k dmg to that one ship, he never went below 75% health...

"Distant Voyages" containers - description 'issue'
_Flyto_ replied to Klopirat's topic in General Discussion
It's worse than that. Yes, you have to buy around €400 of dubloons to get the T9 premium crate. And you do get the other crates along the way, and a whole lot of dubloons. But if you check the list of T9 Premiums that you can get from that "discounted" crate.... they're not the rare T9s, they're the ones that you can already buy for coal! -
"Distant Voyages" containers - description 'issue'
_Flyto_ replied to Klopirat's topic in General Discussion
I actually tried, but when I tried to submit the ticket I got an error. And there's a limit to how much time and effort I'm going to expend on trying to get about £2.50 worth of dubloons back. (which is, of course, exactly the point...) -
They are selling in the UK, so UK consumer laws absolutely *do* apply. It appears that they are knowingly breaking them. What they are presumably relying on is that very few people will go to the effort and expense of taking WG to court.

"Distant Voyages" containers - description 'issue'

it's amazing how every single time WG produce something, there is a mistake in the translation that misleads players into spending money. Either they are deliberately attempting fraud and then making excuses, or (if they are acting in good faith) they need to have fixed their "communications" or "translation" issue.- 268 replies

I've not played Italian cruisers, so I'm trying to understand SAP at the first time at battleship calibre. I don't understand the numbers that I'm seeing. The 305mm SAP on my V. Cavour has a maximum shell dmg of 7850. Yet in my battle results, I see that 1 SAP shell did 2591 dmg to an Omaha. That's 33% of the max. And 3 SAP shells did 6286 dmg to a Montecuccoli. That's 27% of the max. Now, I understand that saturation could reduce damage done - but as I understand it that should be to 10% or 50%, not 33%. And as I understand it SAP can't overpen. So, how did I get 33% of the max damage on that Omaha? And what on earth happened with the Montecuccoli? To pre-empt some obvious derailments, things that I am not interested in here: DDs getting reduced damage from SAP 33% damage from non-citadel AP pens People's views on the value of SAP on battleships Thanks for any insight :)

It was new information to me. I stated in my post that I have never used SAP before. Not really. I said I was not interested in hearing about 33% dmg from AP, because I was shooting SAP, and then you told me that the answer was 33% dmg from AP. Which it wasn't. (the right answer was that SAP also does 33% dmg on non-citadel pens) That's correct. I didn't understand how SAP damage is calculated, which is why I was asking here about it. I believe that part of the point of forums is that one can ask others for information, and they can provide it - as every other respondent has helpfully done. I do understand how AP damage works, and I knew that it was not relevant here, which is why I asked not to get replies about it. And then you decided to complain about that. I'm done here.

I said that I was not interested in being told that AP does 33% damage on non-citadels. I said this because I know that in these forums, people will respond without reading the question properly, and AP was not involved here. Two people pointed out to me that SAP *also* does 33% damage on non-citadels. That was new information, and was helpful. Then you demonstrated that you had not read my question properly in exactly the way that I had anticipated. And then you had a go at me for not understanding the mechanics of the game, in a post in which I was specifically asking about the mechanics of the game. This was not helpful.

No, it wasn't.
-
....really? Huh. I guess I've never thought about it before because HE citadels are so rare. Thanks ;-)

You'd need to ask Autospy. But I doubt that he'd be very pleased by you doing so! These mods are largely written by volunteers, for free.

Mine too. Suspect they're broken at present, and will have to be fixed for the current game version. Use some different panels in the meantime.

Ah, having the game center running first did the trick. Thank you!

How does one watch replays in 10.0? I haven't tried since 7.x.... I tried dragging the replay file to WorldOfWarships.exe, but it just started the launcher. And if I hit Play, it started the game as usual. Thanks.

Hmm. I can see the appeal of this, but it requires a minimum amount of play *per week*, which is hard for some of us. Under the old system I used to bimble my way to 15 over time, sometimes treat Rank 10 as the goal if I had a bit more time that month - but in this system I have to burst to get through a league in a week, or have all that progress reset. Dispiriting.

Cpt Skill rework is a big fat cruiser nerf on top of everything else
_Flyto_ replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
I remember the last skills rework: the one years ago, when things like RPF entered the game. I remember that the justification given then was exactly the one above. And it'll never change. Sure, there will be a few ships that can be played effectively multiple ways - as there are already - but in general after a few months of people trying things out, the community will settle down to knowing the best build for each ship. -
I've seen various things saying that everybody has 4 free xmas crates, plus more for the T10s they own. But, I haven't seen this. Is it just a NA thing? Or were the crates so unremarkable that I don't even remember opening them? ;-)
-
I'm not sure there's any evidence that this "shortlist" is the mechanism. But it is starting to look fairly plausible that certain ships have *much* higher odds than others, even others at their tier (I mean beyond the rare vs others distinction)

Bug Report / Black Friday "B"-suffix craft.
_Flyto_ replied to hopfolk's topic in General Discussion
They're already on fairly shakey ground, AIUI, for advertising a new product (2020 BF containers) at 15% off from the beginning. -

That's being generous. I think they know exactly what they're doing. -

It's not a bug, it's a deceptive, borderline fraudulent, business practice, working exactly as intended. I've just fallen victim to it too. -
Assuming you mean the second set of consumables: From a bit of testing I think the health regen provides about 10k if there are no enemy ships nearby. If there are enemies then I understand that it leeches a similar amount of health from them, but it's not clear to me whether that also turns into extra healing for yourself. For the circular wave, no idea. I've mostly been using it to destroy Gale torps rather than for damage. I agree that the tooltips (for this and some of the Valkyrie modules) are less than helpful! I've been trying to understand how the wavecasters' damage is calculated. As the wave gets wider at distance, does it do the same amount of total damage spread over a wider area? Or the same amount of damage per metre? This makes a difference to the optimal range of the weapon.
-
How is she different to the cold war version that was considered OP at T7? She's gained torps, and I'm not spotting what she's lost (maybe nothing, given the tier change)

Valk tries to ram, you just put the brakes on and watch them go sailing by. The Gale is impressively quick with its throttle, and provided you don't take the max-HP hull it's pretty agile too.
