    Can screen resolution effect aiming?

There was a thread about a similar or the same problem a few days ago. https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/115475-has-anybody-else-had-shells-falling-short/
  2. You U Boat people are a special breed, I come back to my original point and wonder if WG can incorporate authenticity into the game

    2nd flag on german ships

I have the 'Flag of Prussia' as the second flag on my German ships, is that close enough? I can't remember what I got it for so don't ask.
  4. We have the rosy image of subs from films such as 'Run Silent, Run Deep' and the crew's hunt for 'Bungo Pete', and a great film it is. But you should realise many of those important and interesting valves and pipes in a submarine are there to empty the toilet, and when one springs a leak it isn't necessarily sea water the crew are being sprayed with. Which basically sums up my thoughts of having subs in WoWs, you have shite above the waves with two CV's per battle, and shite down below.

    Questions about Twitch-container-drops

I think watching Twitch streams for two days running (not that you actually need to watch, just have it in the background) averages out container drops. I get on average one per day by watching every day (not that I really watch you understand). Days I miss a day I can still get one, but then maybe not the next day even though I'd watched the previous day, so a two day cycle seems to trigger them reliably. You do need to watch a stream that advertises them, Flamu or Flambass etc. and they are advertised as Twitch drops and not WG drops.

    Special skill captains

I think the simple answer to the OP is that when a new player joins the game they are showered with coal and other currency. If they've read the rules and understand them, and they haven't immediately stuck their nose up at tier 1, then they can get a 10 point Captain for their Orlan, or Black Swan, etc. and this is a massive leg up to get out of tier 1. So if you didn't take advantage at the time then it's no good complaining or kicking yourself for not realising this now.

Has anybody else had shells falling short?

A similar thing yesterday, my broadside Konigsberg bombarding a stationary broadside CV and in bino mode anything aimed on target tended to fall short (except odd shells), if I overshot more landed on target but some still fell short. I and the Konigsberg may not have been the most accurate components in the battle but it was like the CV had a force field around it and very noticeable given the fast firing guns. Eventually when the CV was bow on I started to land shots consistently on the smaller target.

    WINRATE upgrade

So in over 10,000 battles you've had so much bad luck with your teams you haven't even achieved an average 50% WR? Most people would accept 100 battles as a reasonable guide sample if it was all down to the team and not what you contributed.

    European research tree?

It seems to me the addition of a new tree is covered by a fanfare declaring a new Premium ship, and it stops there. It would be nice if WG filled out some of the trees already started by offering a whole lot more silver ships before milking any more pockets. The Italian tree comes to mind in this regard. And just like the Austro-Hungarian Navy we should be very worried that WG will be eyeing Mongolia, which also has a Navy (apparently one of them can actually swim), as does the Central African Republic, the common denominator being none of them has an ocean.

    WINRATE upgrade

It's called 'stat padding' in WoT, players who cry about not winning but finish top of their team by camping at the back and farming damage as the enemy is closes in. They mistake it for skill. Of course finishing top on a losing team doesn't have to be down to stat padding, it is mostly genuine hard play, but the situation would be open to abuse if there was a specific reward for it.

Giulio Cesare stays as it is + balance of other premiums

I was referring to the 'interesting' ships, not the usual run of the mill power creep variety where WG gradually make them slightly more and more OP over the previous generation. No, the 'interesting' ships are when they get it wrong and it is clearly out of sync with balance. WG did it in WoT as well, the GC is very similar in intent (and I think of a similar game vintage introduced in 2017) to the Object 252 Defender heavy tank. It was sold for a short period of time, then withdrawn because it broke the game balance. Wargaming so far haven't made the same mistake again in WoT, yet WoT still gets it's marginally OP power creep tanks on a regular basis. So I still think Wargaming will have taken note of the GC and will resolve not to do it again, but it doesn't mean no power creep.

Giulio Cesare stays as it is + balance of other premiums

Bravo WG! But the subtext clearly seems to be 'don't expect any more interesting ships'. I was one who said some out of the ordinary ships should be in the game, they are something to hope for if you haven't got them, and it won't hurt WG sales of containers next Christmas either. As for balancing the GC in the game, well I think it's self balancing anyway, it does tend to be the most targeted ship in the battle after all.

Cloned (and similar) ships: too many!

Point of order Mister Chairman, the USS Boise and Nueve de Julio are not clones as in two separate ships, they are the one and the same ship early and late in its career. But realistically it's no surprise there are similar ships floating about in the game, a ship is not like a tank where a quick prototype can be whipped up for testing, evolution and designs that work are the ones that get commissioned.

Rules of the "Fly! Strike! Win!" Event

You have to buy containers and hopefully you get bonus missions to win the ships. I got missions for the silver Edinburgh and gold Duke of York, which coincidentally (or not) I didn't have, and winning just 5000 base XP got me both of them as the XP covers both missions. So not bad for 20 quid or whatever it was, plus the other stuff in the containers. I'd already got to tier VII in the British cruisers, but a question I'd like to know is by winning the Edinburgh it surely has to automatically elite all ships along the way to tier VII (it elited my Fiji for example), so if you are only at tier 1 it makes the mission a gigantic XP bonus? If so buying a bunch of containers then seems like an even better idea, so has anybody actually got their British cruiser tree to tier VII researched 'for free' in this mission? Or does it work that way?

    The "allied damage" system

Now put yourself in the position of the other player, you are sailing along in your big battleship with poor maneuverability (see your point 2) and somebody on your team fires a broadside of torps into your path, who are you going to rage at now? The game has to be based around some sort of skill or players could just spam torpedoes and artillery all over the map, and that wouldn't be a lot of fun would it? Anybody firing torpedoes has to be looking at their map and predicting what their own team are doing and are likely to do as much as the enemy. Make sure your map is BIG, look at it often, and just don't fire torps if you are going to box teammates into impossible positions or prevent them retreating or attacking. Cruisers offering covering fire for example often need to go one direction first before swinging around for another run at the enemy, they will often criss cross the map, it's their job, your job is to not kill them then whine about it as if you had no choice.
  16. I think you are trying to paraphrase me, but the OP has played 10 battles at tier 1 in Co-Op, and that's not even two battles per ship, and 35 battles (or less) in Random before settling at tier 4/5. If you don't think that counts as 'magically appeared' (quoting you paraphrasing me) then it can only be alien abduction as to how he got parachuted into tier IV and V without gaining some basic knowledge of the game first. The OP asking the question 'why is he so bad' is probably answered in those simple stats, so I'm unsure what you don't understand? The OP should understand it himself if only he'd sat back and thought instead of imagining there is a secret formula. It's you glamour boys he wants to emulate, unicums who are playing the high tiers, I don't think 'don't show your broadside' will cut it until he can hit somebody else's broadside first.
  17. Go back to tier 1 (or should I say discover tier 1) and learn to shoot. Tier IV and V where you seem to have materialised are competitive tiers, you should have learned something about shooting, tactics, and the weaknesses and strengths of the various ship types before you got there. Also watch Twitch streams and YouTube videos, especially the ones on how to aim.

    2 types of players

In WoT many players use the XVM mod that can show the teams win chance at the start of the battle, and it does certainly demotivate players to see a negative percentage, even in spawn you know who they are because they are giving up and crying 'help!' It does make me wonder how players who get mardy (Northern English for being petulant and sulky) about a match up in a pixel game actually function in the much more complicated game of life. It annoys me when players sail away from the enemy and don't go down fighting in a game that is lost anyway. And last week I had to suggest to an idle CV player that even though he'd lost all his planes he could at least distract the enemy and sail towards the enemy cap and also show some spirit at the same time (which he eventually did). I wouldn't call all this 'idiocy', or even learning the game, but many people haven't been taught how to be competitive, and when put into a competitive environment they don't understand the responsibility they have for their own pride never mind the team.

What to do with free xp?

A tip from a long experience of how WG work by being able to read you mind, wait for the next big blockbuster release and spend it on OP Soviet battleships. You can be sure if you fritter it away now you'll kick yourself in a few weeks time.

Good link, all I need are a string of onions and a beret to wear as I now correctly recite the names of French battleships.
  23. I think this is just ignorant and insulting to players. You say read the WG blurb about the product, but they always buff its qualities up, while the CC reviews often subsequently nerf its qualities down. This is a product that you buy to use, it isn't a film that you hire to consume for two hours. If you were buying a car on the first day of release you'd be lucky to do it because there would have been a 'pre-order period', and actually people thinking about it on the first day of release may have to wait months. In those months they get to see reviews and can change their minds. These are things you can kick, not pixels that can be released instantly, so due diligence can't be achieved until the point the product has genuinely been tested in a realistic environment. There are many reasons a player would buy a ship on the first day of release, but going by what WG say about it is about the worst qualifier possible, they just want to sell it after all. So very few products reach the public without a vast number of reviews and customer satisfaction surveys feeding the buying power of the majority of late adopters. The pixel universe is the obverse, hype is only created by the manufacturer, and only in the pixel world can hype be instantly delivered as a product. We should all know better, but the holy grail is the thing WG dangle in front of players, and it's not like the Exeter is a bad ship. But the manipulation comes with the marathon that seems out of reach for many players to complete, or the 'easy' Commanders Pack. If this was the real world it would be like believing your washing will come out amazingly whiter if you buy the powder right now, rather than wait a month or so until your stockist has some on the shelf, by which time the excitement may well have worn off.
  24. WG are saying sorry to the community, but the ability to not accept the gift is a way for all those who are sceptical and critical about WG's motives to boycott the process, reject the gift, and so not become a hypocrite. And WG automatically forcing a gift on somebody who criticises all that they do could also be kind of weird and an awkward social faux par, a bit like stalking somebody who hates you.

    Double standards at its finest

From the streams I've watched it appears to back up the long range advantage versus the short range fragility, problem is who in a Random Battle going to stick their hand in the air and say 'Please, please, let me go and get in close!'?
