Presumably the same as always, some kind of deadline that must be met or people lose their jobs, lack of flexibility from senior management detatched from the game, the developers did what they could but the fundamental concept is broken. -
Surely the plane threat increases as the game progresses and the teams lose ships, fewer or no AA cruisers to hide behind, fewer alternative targets for the CV to go for, all you can really do is hide behind your CV and give additional AA support. It's what I hate most about this rework, close game, apart from the CV you're one of the last ships alive and it's wave after wave of torps, rockets and bombs.

This is perhaps the worst thing about the rework, it destroys the close games, eg: behind on points but you can turn it around, there's you and another cruiser left, the red team's surface fleet are all gone but it's 2 cv per side and then it's just wave after wave of rockets, torpedoes and bombs and there's literally nothing you can do. Regarding the planes, I could be wrong but I think the T6 ships have a faster regen time than at T10.

Haven't watched it all but I do feel that Farra is getting overly fixated on hull control. It's a nuisance, there's no logical reason for it, it doesn't enhance gameplay but in terms of balance issues it's like worrying about the wine list on the Titanic, we may not have 1945 Mouton Rothschild available but you're going to be dead in 20 minutes anyway so can I recommend the 1970 Coq du Rod Laver.

As opposed to making the whole server veeeery happy........ So expand the dataset, maybe give early access on live to a select group of existing CV players, perhaps limit it to particualar times of day or days of the week. What a good idea, perhaps you should try it.

Why not use the regular supertester programme or even an expanded one, so long as you tweak the MM such that new CV can only be matched against other new CV surely that would work.

Did you notice the presence of at least one and probably double SkyPox in that game? That boys and girls is how you play DD in the SkyPox meta.

3,000 - 5,000 HP every 20 seconds against targets with about 20,000 HP is not cute. -
In the Pacific from 1942 onwards yes, but there were plenty of battles that didn't involve CV. Ideally they should be in the game, but if it's impossible to implement them in any kind of fair and balanced way perhaps we should pretend we're in one of the battles that didn't involve them, which isn't unreasonable because the battles that did involve them were almost always fought at distances well beyond naval gunfire.

Good stuff although I still think CV are at a fundamental level unbalanceable, as pure damage dealers to be fun to play they need to do a lot of damage but as a low risk class that's always going to be unfair on other classes.

The Midway has played exactly one game in new CV and caused exactly zero damage, the Hak looks decent on the face of it but OP says the results were from before first hotfix so likely was still learning at the time (and may be using flying Shima tactics anyway). OP also omits to mention that he is using the only ship in the game with useable 20km torps. -

Can't that argument be applied to all ship classes? A lone straight sailing BB has no way of detecting a DD 6 km from him, should stealth torpedoes be removed from the game? Why should CV get a special exemption from the game mechanics everyone else has to live with and isn't weakness to torpedoes meant feature for some ships? If the CV is close enough to supporting ships (behind cover or undetected) then there are plenty of other things to spot for him and shoot back, the only CV that would suffer are the potatoes that want to sit at the back with zero situational awareness and spam planes at everyone. But if it is a big issue then as I said, perhaps different detection ranges for different aircraft. -

CV would still have the usual surface detection rules so if the DD fired his gun or got within detection range he would be visible and CV could spot then attack. But yes if CV wants to sit stationery 10 km behind his fleet while an undetected DD slips through and stealth torps him then yes he is defenceless, in the same way that a BB is defenceless if he wants to sail in straight lines at constant speed in DD infested waters. It's not that hard to remember/predict where DD will be then with rocket planes click to attack the area then fine tune the strike onto the target. Perhaps having different spotting ranges for different aircraft would work? Rocket fighters get a much lower spotting range than say torpedo bombers so CV can rocket attack spotted DD or use TB to spot the DD himself but he can't do both. -

Gameplay > reality, and couldn't you make the same argument about submarines? If they can't be implemented in a way that does not ruin the game for everyone else why should they be in the game? -

Very quickly you'd see no difference in game-play between the two modes thus normal would either be unplayed or, if restrictions are imposed on veteran mode, this just amounts to a huge nerf in new players credit/XP earning potential. -
CVs about to get nerfed to the ground (yay, rejoice all CV haters)

You can shoot back at BB and earn XP and credits if you hit him, against CV you might get some XP from plane kills (depending upon tier and AA spec) but it's pretty low and a passive mechanic as well. So players lose out on XP and credits from CV cutting short their game and don't get anything in return. -
Wait until the CV players learn how to use their ships.
