Perfectly BALANSED Russian shell arcs ))))
Capra76 replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
Ultimately a result of where the ships might be used, the RN/USN could be deployed for months on end thousands of miles away from anywhere that could carry out serious repair work and were therefore built with endurance in mind, the RM/IJN etc were designed for use in local waters and could afford to sacrifice a bit of endurance for higher performance. Another area this extended to was crew accomodation, the IJN ships AFAIK were fairly unpleasant places to live, tending to be top heavy and poor at seakeeping, the RN/USN in contrast tended to be more comfortable which might go someway to explaining why their crew's performance was more highly regarded. -
Nobody said that only one class could counter another, or that WG ever got the balance right, but the basic concept was well enough established when the game launched.
-
Just to be clear, @El2aZeR is one of the best CV players on the EU server, if he says that the class is broken OP then anyone arguing with him is wrong and is almost certainly using underhand means to support their case.
-
I think this is because pre-rework the best players could completely shut down average or even good CV players, meaning that the red team was essentially missing it's most powerful ship whilst the green CV ran riot. Post re-work average or even bad players can't keep up with unicums in the damage race, but they're still putting out 60,000+ damage at T10, probably against the wrong targets, but even so there's still doing something so if the unicum gets a really bad team his carry power is a little bit reduced.

Just a quick warning for the developers, the Hosho aircraft return time "nerf" actually turns out to be massive buff for her. See here for details (copied from thread on main forum):

So you can't/won't answer 159's question.
-
He's a very good player, he needs to die first .
-
There is a solution to the problem, play CV yourself and give the surface peasants an early introduction to the upcoming submarine gameplay. the people, POWER TO THE CV ELITE!!!!!!!!! Although in all seriousness if you ever form the Tooting Popular Front as a clan then I promise to join (and apologies to all those who don't get the reference).
-
@Pikkozoikum In answering this question please also assume that I'm the enemy Hosho player, that I'm using MM monitor and will make it my life's work to ruin his game.
-
Carefull please, that might even compete with Hosho for "balance".

Strong as in Kamikaze sisters strong, i.e. objectively better than the silver ship in every significant way? Compared to Ernst Gaede, T61 has 20,000 more DPM, the same 2 x 4 torpedoes but a 22 second faster reload, 600 m better concealment, better rudder, 90m tighter turning circle and in return she loses 1 knt speed and 1,800 HP (plus the questionable option of the 150mm gun). There's no use posting raw stats without trying to account for differences in the players, she's a T6 available for cash and isn't far behind a reward ship for reaching rank one 5 times.

Well... it appears that the "Hosho" will be nerfed soon...

Er no, flak only applies in the long range aura and the extra time applies only in the short/mid range aura so "chance" doesn't come into it, continuous damage is inflicted onto the last plane in the squadron and since the follow up attacks can be cycled more quickly the actual amount of continuous damage that plane suffers is reduced. Even if flak was being provided by another ship this can be avoided by varying speed and frankly the odds of the extra 1/2 a second making a difference are remote anyway. And remember T3/4 AA is pitiful anyway, even T5 is not a major drag. If you're waiting until the torps are in the water before you use your rudder you've left it too late, if you're in a BB you're screwed either way, if you're in a cruiser and display evidence of brain I'll come back with rockets or DB and if you're in a DD and I want you dead then the best bet is usually just to spot you. Plus this is T4 we're talking about, outwith sealclubbers most of the players down their don't have the first clue what to do anyway. -

Since I've mentioned that the plane return "nerf" is self-defeating and actually makes it easier to spam nothing but TB I thought I'd make a bit of a presentation using a stationary bot from the training room to show you why, enjoy: First off, how it tends to work out under the current patch: So now let's see what happens with the new and improved version 0.8.9 from the PT server: Obvious caveats apply about unarmed bots in a training room and it may not apply in all circumstances but I was getting this effect playing in games on the PT server (in co-op to be fair), so it is real. TLDR version: the nerf allows you to execute your attacks faster than your ship can recover the aircraft thus turning the returning aircraft into a "flying reserve" that allows the CV to regenerate another aircraft every 56 seconds until you have doubled your effective hangar capacity and launch an endless stream of full TB squadrons. -

Easier to evade? Er, no. Torpedoes have an arming time, not an arming distance, so if you slow the weapons down without changing the arming time you simply allow the CV to drop the torpedoes closer to the target. In fact this seems to actually be a buff since it allows the planes to make tighter turns and thus faster follow up attacks, potentially therefore even harder to evade. Also, as mentioned above, the slower aircraft return rate also feels like a buff. -
Or to put it another way, balance has two sides to it, what the class takes from the game and what the class gives back in return, and at the moment this is all a one way street, CV is no give and all take and that is the fundamental problem.

Will it make a difference, PTS is up and running, let's find out, and our survey says: -
The only thing that might work is a substantial nerf to CV spotting, making them much more reliant on their team to spot targets rather than be able to spot their own. The problem is that WG spent all their time and budget trying to balance by "tweaking" AA/plane interaction and has now essentially given up and gone onto other things.
-
Have you not read any of the previous 400+ pages? Sure the thread has been spammed to death (mostly by players claiming that CV are fine or unplayable) but if you filter that out there was plenty of constructive discussion.
-
I ask this as a question, how well does Khaba's play-style fit in with current meta? Have radar and CV reduced the effectiveness of the more traditional DD such that Khaba's limited options are usually better than more versatile ships that are forced into playing away from their strengths? Or to put it another way, Khaba "can't get into caps", but if nobody else can either does it matter?
-
It's evidence, how much weight you wish to place upon that evidence compared to global stats that are uncorrected for player skill and other confounding variables is a matter for the jury.
-
And the fact that most BB chose other skills over RPF shows just how relevant the "what can BB do against DD" argument is, i.e. not very.
-
When and where? I don't remember anyone asking for that, but since there were hoards of them can you point me that way.
-
Kills and WR are only mid table, comparable to Daring for example, but a long way behind Kleber (but then that's probably new line effect). Damage is good but then how much of that is low value fires? Not an obvious candidate for a buff, especially when you compare it to Z-52 (bottom of all key stats).
-
Nope, quite a big role against centre force early in the battle.

Battle of Leyte Gulf?
